The Black Wizard (Part 3)
PART ONE | PREVIOUS PART | NEXT PART
There is a peculiar emptiness to the room. It goes beyond sparseness of furniture or lack of decoration - a stark contrast to the rest of the Castle, and what Remus observed to be a significant amount of clutter.
There is a bed here, a little chair and a little table looking out through a little window, but the air is strangely thin, as if it wasn’t really formed. As if the room isn’t sure what it is or where it is, or if it is at all.
Remus has the strangest feeling that it wasn’t anywhere - not before Sirius spoke of it. He’s heard of magic before - his very existence proof of the strange things in life - but to feel it touch his skin like the softest gust of wind is a sensation beyond his expectations. Beyond his understanding.
He has no belongings to put away, none bar the book hidden in his chest pocket. They had been sparse since his parents' house had been taken back by the township, but even the small box of things he had stashed in a forest outside of Hogsmead had to be left behind. He had no time to retrieve it, no strength to carry it with him, and he spares a moment to think of the old blanket his mum knitted that’s at the very bottom of the chest.
He’s not willing to part with the things he does have, the stolen wallets and the one ring he plucked off a drunk stately man’s finger. It’s a pretty thing, a green stone laid between a cradle of golden leaves. Too dainty for Remus’ own fingers, calloused and scarred as they are.
I’ll leave in the morning, he tells himself, settling on the bed still dressed in his outdoor clothes - ready to flee in the night. Keep going North and find another town to live in. Get away from here with an intact heart.
And he means it, too.
Remus never was any good at predicting how things would unfold.
✨✨✨
He tries to sneak out in the morning, but the fire spots him first - a creaky floorboard gives him away.
“Sirius left you tea and sandwiches on the hearth,” he says with his voice like kindling.
And indeed, there it is - a pot of tea, still hot, the air around it shimmering with some kind of magic Remus can taste but not feel (peppermint, cloves). A plate with a small loaf of breath, stuffed to fullness with crumbly cheese and honeyed ham. And next to it…
“The cake’s for you as well.”
It’s the kind of indulgence Remus only got to taste once: his seventh Candlemass, when his parents were still alive. His dad with a particularly lucky streak in hunting, his mum commissioned to make a dress for a lady with more money than sense. It was a good few months for them, and one lazy afternoon Remus watched his mum mix flour and eggs with an extravagant amount of melted chocolate.
It was the best thing he’d ever tried.
This cake? It lacks the love he saw in his mum’s, but it’s luxurious: dark chocolate sponge, roses of icing, a golden dusting of sugar over the top.
A bit awkwardly, Remus manoeuvres both the plates and the teapot into his hands, heads to the dinner table and pulls a chair out with his foot.
There are books stacked high on it, and spread all across the table, too. Remus pushes them away with an elbow to make space for his plates and tea, then picks up the stack from the chair and puts it to the side.
“Your name is James, yes?” He asks the fire, looking around the room for clean cutlery and a mug. There is a little kitchen counter set into an alcove, a cabinet filled with plates and bowls, a wide sink with a window over it, strangely coloured water sloshing happily as if it was just disturbed.
“That’s me,” the fire responds. The tips of it are reddish-brown and wild, like messy hair. “Oh, there aren’t any mugs,” he reads into Remus’ wonderings. “Sirius had some mishaps with a spell and they all exploded. Quite marvellous a sight it was.”
Remus looks at his pot of tea and mourns it: it smells like heady divinity, something rich and fruity and spiced. He’s not had a warm cup of tea in a few years.
It’s that thought that pushes him to grab a small bowl instead. He fills it with the tea, holding it with both hands. The heat comes through the porcelain and touches his fingers. That, too is a surprise. Remus has been living by himself, getting by on the streets of Hogsmead, for so many years that he’s forgotten the feeling of a warm plate.

Chez Cromwell: Redux - Pt. 1
Magical Victorian Cat Mansion. Redone.
Part I: Exteriors | Part II
So after the long-awaited addition of Infants and Ceilings to the game, I realized I should probably update my one furnished build (so far) for these features. Unfortunately I got carried away again and just ended up revamping the whole build from the exterior, to each individual room + some new ones! This version has also been more extensively play-tested over time with all age groups and pets, with some extra fire hazard and accessibility issues addressed.
It still has all the original Lot Features:
Victorian era historical build, fully playtested
Off-the-grid compatible
9 Bed / 6 bath
Library Greenhouse
Spellcaster's room
Outdoor smokehouse
Pleasure + kitchen gardens
Portal to the magic realm
Hidden cat room, litterroom, + catway system for Familiars
Staff/Servant's lounge w/ private stairs
Bedrooms for Butler, Nanny/Governess, and Maids
Lot size 30x40, fully landscaped
Cat Hangout, Peace and Quiet
Spooky lot challenge
As well as an extensive Changelog and list of New Features:
Revamped exteriors + interiors, roofs, and gardens
Ceilings for all rooms
Added even more windows somehow
Skylights for 3rd floor and wraparound verandah
Rooftop meditation-garden-yoga-summoning-circle
Portals! Small library located off the spell-room has been converted into the Portal Room with 3 portals leading throughout the house: one to the tower on the roof, one to the greenhouse in the back, and one to the third floor hall.
Moved Magic Realm Portal to rooftop garden
Put more cat doors everywhere, they enjoy using the catdoors and portals for zoomies
Sprinklers, alarms, and fire resistant flooring have been added around fireplaces.
Fireplace in the tower was removed for it's propensity to set the roof on fire and become unreachable and inextinguishable
Tower room has been converted into a Collections display room instead, a la sims 3
Portal in the tower/Collections room also makes potential burglaries more threatening, but if you’re an occult you’re expected to employ practical DADA techniques to avert this
Updated Nursery and Playroom for Infants
Redid terrain paint. Twice. Why tf does it just vanish randomly sometimes
NEW Magic Bean Hunt! Stump is located where the magic realm portal used to be and beans are strategically hidden around the lot. I'd love to see how long it takes for you to catch them all!
Washbasins for rooms without bathrooms now look like washbasins and are actually useable, both on and off grid
Added privacy hedges and lattices to backyard and fenced in chicken run
Potions Crafting Table added to Spell-room
Crafters Supply Cabinet added to Kitchen
Pocketed pocket doors
Secret Cat Room color scheme updated and cat-approved artwork added
Another Cat room added to 3rd floor
Magic Well has been shrunk
Rooftop area outside 3rd floor Study converted into rooftop Pavilion with chessboard and painting easel
Jack-and-Jill bathroom added for two of the third floor bedrooms
Toilet room removed and bath added for staff washrooms, for an equal 2-toilet/2-bath arrangement, which means the build now has a total of 7 full baths, and 8 toilets.
More crafting tables (fizz machine and candle maker) added to Staff Lounge
Yoga/Meditation Balcony for staff above greenhouse
Small telescope added to rooftop outside tower room’s new 2nd door
Garden lights around yard configured for power + off grid lighting
‘Bike racks’ added by front gate
New Library shelves seem to allow sims to retrieve books but not put them back. However this is actually a feature, not a bug, since now you can put the books back yourself on on the right shelves and keep things organized 🙃
Should now be consistently able to feed and be eaten by the Cowplant
Homey trait replaced by Gnome lot trait since there is a proliferation of gnomes
Requirements
Lot: 40x30, $752,005, 9 bed 8 bath, Cat Hangout, Gnome, Peace and Quiet, Spooky Lot Challenge

Today we deep cleaned and worked on making a shade net for the field. Cleaning took priority though bc the outdoor kitchen and bathrooms desperately needed it, two spaces i personally like to have pristine.
After work we were looking for something to do so we decided to head to Montezuma beach about 20 minutes down the road opposite of santa teresa. The roads were much more winding and far less steep, but possessed many potholes so traveling slow was key.
Once in town we were greeted by colorful building and hand painted signs about happy hours and menus along with the welcoming smell of a wood fired stove. the town is fairly small and positioned right on the water with a beautiful cove.
first things first we grabbed an iced americano at a beautiful cafe with tons or outdoor seating and welcoming beach signs all hand painted. we took out coffee to go and walked through town and found ourselves at a beach entrance with a trail walk. we decided to walk it for a little while and see where it led. there is a much longer route but we did what we had time for before the sun set.
Plenty of lavarock like formations along the beaches provided for many fun side quests to look in tide pools and shell beds. shell collecting is frowned upon in this area so we stuck to seaglass and tile if we found it.
We wondered all the way to a beautiful beach with a waterfall and many rock piles that people have stacked on top of eachother. we couldn’t quite explain the feeling but this place felt spiritual in a way.
on our way back into town we wanted a cocktail and came across a place on the water that claimed “the best fucking view in montezuma” so naturally we checked it out but were a little stunned by the prices, (gringo prices), so we left and went to a place we saw on the way in that had a happy hour special.
Upon arrival the setting is magical, very laid back open environment with a wood fired stove that the food is all cooked in (what we smelled on arrival), and the decor was on point. the best way to describe it was a Costa Rica “dive bar”.
the staff was incredibly personable and you felt at home and very welcome. (we do believe that everyone there was very very drunk). We had the best cocktails that we’ve had while here and they were two for one! i had a white russian with about 3oz of liquor in it haha and Annagrace has a passion fruit margarita which she said is the best margarita she’s ever had!
We spent some time there and headed back to camp but in the parking lot we were approached by a german woman and a teenager she claimed to be her son, they asked if we spoke english and then told us there predicament.
They said they had no service or wifi and needed to get to their hotel with all there bags and they taxi wanted to charge them $100 usd (which is ridiculous) but my gut feeling felt off. They asked for a ride before telling us anything about themselves or their trip. from the start of it it felt fishy and i knew i was not going to be providing any rides as the facts continued to not line up.
we could not even give them a ride as my surfboard took up the back of the rental car the way it had to be slid in eliminating two seats, leaving only one open. we told them this and provided them with a location across the street that had free wifi and two numbers for local taxis that were given to us by a local restaurant owner, and they were both very reliable and would not rip you off. but they refused and moved on very quickly once we said no, like who wouldn’t want this valuable information in this situation?? fishy.
overall trust your gut and you will be okay. pura vida.

100 Cozy & Uplifting Winter Bucket List Ideas
Winter is a time to embrace the season of coziness, reflection, and magic. Whether you’re sipping hot cocoa by the fire, bundling up for outdoor adventures, or simply slowing down to savor the quiet, these 100 winter activities are all about making the most of the chilly days. It’s a season for making memories—big and small—that will warm your heart, brighten your spirit, and create a winter full of joy.
So, let’s dive into this list and make this winter one to remember. Ready to fall in love with the season?

(Don’t forget to reblog 🤍 spread the magic!)
1-25: Cozy, Heartwarming Indoors Moments
Wrap yourself in the softest blanket and sip hot chocolate (with extra whipped cream, obviously) while binge-watching a holiday movie you swear you’ve seen a million times, but never get tired of.
Host a pizza and movie night—invite your besties over (or do it solo if you’re feeling like a self-love moment) and eat all the cheesy slices you want.
Make a winter playlist full of feel-good jams—think cozy acoustic vibes mixed with upbeat tracks that make you wanna dance around your living room in fuzzy socks.
Create a DIY vision board—get creative with magazines, photos, and Pinterest inspiration to map out your goals, dreams, and wishes for the year ahead.
Decorate your space with twinkle lights, fairy lights, and throw pillows that make your apartment feel like a winter wonderland (because who says the vibes can’t be chic?).
Bake cookies—even if you don’t have a recipe, just throw some chocolate chips in there and watch your kitchen turn into a bakery.
Write a letter to your future self—give your future self a pep talk, tell her what you’re excited about, and remind her of all the wins ahead.
Curl up with a good book—pick a book that’s cozy, uplifting, or maybe a total escape into a fantasy world.
Start a gratitude jar—write down one thing you're grateful for every day. By the end of the season, you’ll have a jar full of blessings to look back on.
Treat yourself to a hot bath—add bubbles, lighting, and a face mask to create your own mini spa in the comfort of your own home.
Indulge in a winter skincare routine—because your skin deserves the best care during the cold months. Treat yourself to a hydrating mask and those lotions that smell like fresh vanilla or coconut.
Do a DIY spa day—face mask, mani-pedi, and soak your feet in warm water. Trust me, you’ll feel like a queen afterward.
Host a virtual catch-up with your friends over cocktails or hot cocoa—because even if you can’t be together, you can still make memories from a distance.
Make a gratitude journal—write down three things you’re grateful for every day. It’s such a simple habit, but it can shift your mindset in a big way.
Decorate your own DIY snow globe—grab a mason jar, some glitter, and a tiny figurine, and create a magical winter moment for your desk or nightstand.
Start a cozy book club with your friends—pick a feel-good read, make some tea, and chat about it together. Or just get together for the snacks and vibes.
Organize a winter-themed dinner party—light candles, cook comfort food, and make a night of it. There’s something so special about gathering friends over a homemade meal.
Make your own winter candle—choose your favorite scents (hello, cinnamon and vanilla), and create something warm and inviting to burn throughout the season.
Unplug for a weekend—put down the phone, say goodbye to social media, and focus on recharging your mind and spirit.
Try journaling—write about your thoughts, dreams, or even create a vision for the future. Sometimes the act of putting pen to paper helps you see everything more clearly.
Start a mood board on Pinterest—build a collection of all your favorite things: fashion, decor, quotes, and the dreamy vibes that make you smile.
Do a cozy indoor workout—it’s cold outside, so light a candle, put on your favorite playlist, and get your sweat on with a YouTube workout or stretch session.
Buy yourself a cozy sweater that you can wear every time you need to feel like you’re getting a hug. (Bonus points if it has cute pom-poms or pastel colors).
Treat yourself to a winter-themed brunch—make avocado toast with a twist (add a poached egg), mimosas (or mocktails), and invite a friend for an epic cozy day.
Have a solo picnic indoors—lay out a blanket, gather all your favorite snacks, and let yourself enjoy a carefree, fun meal without the stress of going anywhere.
26-50: Winter Adventures (Even If It’s Just for the ‘Gram)
Go ice skating—even if you’re a beginner or a bit wobbly, there’s something magical about skating under the winter sky. And bonus—it’s the perfect time for cute photos.
Get outside and enjoy the fresh air—take a walk in the snow (or a chill stroll in the crisp winter air) and let yourself be present in the quiet beauty around you.
Make snow angels—yes, you are an adult, but who cares? Lay in the snow, let loose, and make the snow angels of your childhood dreams.
Host a ‘decorate your own gingerbread house’ night—it’s tacky, it’s fun, and it’s guaranteed to make you laugh at your creative skills (or lack thereof).
Have a snowball fight—don’t care how old you are, sometimes you’ve just gotta embrace your inner child and throw some snow at your bestie.
Visit a local Christmas market—find cute handmade gifts, sip mulled wine, and embrace the magic of festive cheer.
Go on a winter hike—find a trail covered in snow, throw on your favorite hiking boots, and take in the stillness of nature.
Go sledding—whether you're with friends or flying solo, sledding is always a good idea. And there’s no age limit for fun.
Book a cozy cabin getaway with friends or a loved one—think roaring fire, board games, hot cocoa, and maybe even a little snowshoeing.
Visit an ice rink with your friends—whether it’s indoors or outdoors, there’s something so festive and fun about skating in winter with the people you love.
Drive through a holiday light display—whether it’s a grand display or just a neighborhood full of lights, let yourself be swept away by the beauty.
Go on a winter road trip—sometimes, it’s not about where you’re going, but the memories you make along the way. Grab some snacks, make a playlist, and hit the road.
Go to a hot spring—even if you’re not the outdoorsy type, there’s something ridiculously magical about soaking in natural hot springs with steam rising around you in the cold.
Visit a Christmas tree farm—get that perfect tree, take a photo with it (you know you’ll use it as your holiday card), and have hot chocolate afterward.
Take snowy photos outside—layer up in your best winter outfit and snap some pics in front of your neighborhood’s twinkling lights.
Do something adventurous in the snow—try snowboarding or cross-country skiing, and don’t be afraid to laugh when you fall. It’s all part of the fun.
Go on a winter picnic—lay down a blanket in the snow, pack some warm drinks, and enjoy the quiet beauty of the season. Bonus: throw in a thermos of hot soup.
Do a winter photoshoot—take a friend (or do it yourself) and capture your winter wonderland moments. A cute knit hat and the perfect scarf are always Instagram-worthy.
Take a winter walk under the stars—bundle up, and go for a walk at night when everything is quiet and peaceful.
Visit a winter wildlife sanctuary—see how animals in the wild embrace the colder months. It’s surprisingly peaceful to watch nature slow down and rest.
Go to a winter festival—whether it’s a light show, an ice sculpture exhibit, or a cute market, let yourself be swept up in the community spirit.
Take a day trip to a nearby town—wander around, drink something warm, and explore the winter charm of a new place.
Have a winter bonfire—if you’ve got a fire pit, invite your friends for a chilly night of roasting marshmallows and sharing stories.
Get cozy by the fire—whether it’s at a cabin or in your living room, there’s nothing like the glow of a fire to make you feel warm inside and out.
Plan a cozy movie marathon—whether it’s a holiday classic or your favorite feel-good flicks, snuggle up with blankets and snacks, and let yourself unwind.
51-75: Heartfelt Self-Care & Creativity
Try knitting or crocheting—create a scarf or a beanie to keep yourself cozy, and discover the joy of making something with your hands.
Take a weekend staycation—book a local hotel or AirBnb and treat yourself to a mini escape, complete with room service and a bubble bath.
Start a winter-themed scrapbook—document your seasonal adventures, whether it’s tickets from a concert or photos from a cozy day spent with friends.
