my tags from this post: Barbenheimer, as a cinematic exploration of metaphysics I would say Barbie can stand toe to toe with oppenheimer, and I would argue that as a director Gerwig has harnessed the language of cinema more effectively, with the kubrick and spielberg parodies being used to underscore key themes, they are both about the dissolving of reality as part of the modern human condition, and they both give screen time to my fanservice blorbos, geeking out over obscure barbie references and obscure physicist refs, Fineman playing the bongos, the appearance of cock ring barbie..., both transcendent moments, I heard somewhere that the black and white scenes in oppenheimer are meant to be OBJECTIVE REALITY, when Black and White film is usually associate with classic hollywood???, I don't know I didn't get that but in hindsight it makes sense...I guess, if it has to be explained in interviews then it's not good filmmaking Chris..., anyway see barbie when it streams but watch Oppenheimer in Imax because holy shiiiiiit is that something....
