Imo, the soundtrack really doesn't do Hydra justice, but like. In the opposite of doing him dirty, because by leaving out 90% of his context and giving him a (weirdly sinister sounding) extended version of his song, it makes him seem way too cool and mysterious than what he really is. Which is an overenthusiastic dork who thinks hydrogen power is really cool, you guys.

Thoughts on how the StEx rolling stock couplers could work and coupler related disabilities(+headcannons on some characters that might have a coupler related disability).

First, what is a coupler? We know that its those loops performers hold onto during the show. On an actual train its this piece of ‘anatomy’

Some look different but this is the most common as far as I’m aware(it’s what the diesels where I live have).

Now in my AU/Verse/whatever you want to call it there’s a sort of splatoon ish thing going on where the rolling stock has their human form as well. The post will go with that humanoid form in mind.

Height tends to vary quite a bit between individuals, based on what they are and even then some height variation happens then as well. (Locomotive examples are that a Diesel engines tends to be tall and muscular but some are shorter. Electric engines tend to be slim and tall but again some can be shorter. Steamer tend to be short but strong but some can be taller than a diesel.)

Back couplers are therefore at a spot relatively easy for any piece of rolling stock to reach with their front couplers(their hands) and look like rings in humanoid form making them pretty much universally compatible, which is great for racing engines. (Children tend to hang onto their parents and older siblings by the couplers when they’re old enough to start using their wheels to learn how to keep balanced)

Healthy back couplers can fold onto each other, on the stock’s back, when not in use and extend to then be used. Damaged couplers struggle with either aspect and are often very painful to use and if not repaired can cause damage to the internal workings of the stock. In some extreme cases even with repair the pain doesn’t subside and the couplers have to be completely removed and the piece of stock has to wear a prosthetic for work or chooses to always wear one for personal comfort.

Some individuals are born without couplers or incomplete couplers. This birth defect is however rare and the cause of it is unknown.

Some individuals have a condition known as ‘fused couplers’ where the hinge that allows the couplers to unfold in humanoid form is fused, making couplers unable to unfold. Surgeries can fix the issue but many don’t see the point.

Prosthetic couplers are either attached to a belt or backpack, making them nearly impossible to distinguish form a regular working belt or working backpack which makes the couplers remain in an extended position. Couplers and the prosthetic equivalent are near indistinguishable in ‘train form’ and only a particularly observant technician would be able to tell the difference.

Individuals with a ‘coupler disability’ in the AU are

Buffy: born without couplers. Uses prosthesis for work and comfort.

CB: had couplers surgically removed(after and accident). Uses prosthesis for work/racing only.

Memphis Belle: couplers are slow to respond but otherwise pain free.

Belle(2024 sleeping car): born without couplers. Uses prosthetic for work mostly.

Patricia(sibling’s OC): born with fused couplers. Uses prosthesis for work.

It took me two watches but of course Nana and the Giraffe work together so well as a backstage team, the movie spells out how much they are literally and metaphorically the food everyone else takes from as their own fuel

my clone culture headcanon is that they have almost no traditional mandalorian ties, they picked up almost nothing culturally/linguistically from the mandalorian trainers, but the one thing they DID get were endearments/affectionate and-or comforting words/etc.

b/c 1) that was the only way the trainers could somewhat express affection for their favorites without getting dinged for being too attached to them since no one there actually spoke mando’a 2) kaminoans would be Unhappy if the clones expressed affection openly so secret language words were the only way to safely verbalize caring and loving, so they picked up on those few kind words VERY quickly

(The way I see it working is that the trainers had favorites, would occasionally say something like “chin up, hang in there, good job kiddo,” and said favorites picked up those terms without actually ever getting Direct Translations of what they mean. So they get the words and some context but have to jumble it together themselves and pronunciation and meaning change the further away it spreads from the original favorites - because all of this is spread in private, quietly, until it grows its own legs in different iterations with different battalions imho

like they know adding -‘ika to a name is affectionate and feels like a diminutive but they don’t know what it means exactly and sometimes plug it into names in grammatically odd ways, so instead of “Trap’ika” you get “Trapper’ika” which sounds more like “Trapperka” when you’re talking fast.)

(i’m just a fan of gentle soft pet names and showing affection quietly and how love finds a way and how the clones can take what little scraps they were given and make it their own)

OK so. Galvanic is actually just my essentially OC/AU version of 2024 Electra and Dolly is my OC/AU version of 2024 Dinah!!! Since my StEx au is actually focused on the 80's version, I had to make the 2024 StEx characters different people!!! So I've rewritten basically everybody to be different and they all have different names and designs!! Personally I really like these two ^^ I hope this isn't disappointing 😔

I do have more actually legit OCs and fankids I might be sharing soon though 😋😋
