Ah okay!! How about Samir & Aedan being a bunch of sleuths trying to discover and dispatch the Talon scientists responsible for the creation of Andrea. Or basically Aedan asking Samir and maybe to an extent Sombra to find a way to completely trash all the cloning-related research that Moira got from his conception so that no more clones would be made to go through what he's gone through(the existential dread) or wind up becoming another killing machine like Andrea!

I really love this prompt! Though I think Aedan’s relationship to Talon’s cloning projects would probably be more complex than “TALON ONLY MAKES MONSTROSITIES AND OUR EXISTENCE IS ONLY SUFFERING.”

...okay did this fic turn into a “Mountains of Madness/The Thing” knock-off? Maybe. Do I still like it? Yes.

The four of them stood huddled together in front of a massive, ice-slicked steel door dug into the side of Monte Sarmiento. All of them were bundled up, virtually indistinguishable from each other save by the colors of their windbreakers layered over thick down jackets, and Marti’s black braid speckled by snowflakes. Their faces were mostly obscured by goggles and scarves, and what skin did show was chapped by wind.

“Secret South American lab?” Jaime had pulled one glove off and was picking bits of protein bar out of his teeth with his pinky nail, “Even for Talon, that’s... nnnot a good look.”

“Overwatch had them too,” said Samir with a shrug, “Though, granted, it was for Crisis-era prosthetics research.”

“I’m just saying!” said Jaime, he shuddered as an icy wind blew through and looked over his shoulder back at the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Darwin before pulling a glove back on, “At least we’re not in Argentina.”

“Overwatch’s was in Argentina, actually,” said Samir, and Jaime snorted.

“Focus,” said Marti, her goggles down over her eyes as she and Samir decrypted the code on the door.

“We’re sure this site’s abandoned?” said Jaime, “We won’t be activating any... ‘nuke from orbit’ failsafes, right?”

“Best intel Auntie and Lynx could get, and Winston’s satellite should intercept any signal it might send out,” said Marti, numerous lines of code running across the lenses of her goggles, “And the decryption should be complete... right... about... now.”

There was a deep whirring sound and the ice on the door fractured. The four of them flinched back as it fell down in sheets and shattered against the icy and rocky ground, opening into a dark, steel-lined corridor.

“Scout it out, Ebo,” said Marti, taking the small spider-like drone off of her back harness and setting it on the ground. The little robot scuttled into the darkness and one lens of Marti’s goggles lit up with a feed from what Ebo’s camera could pick up.

“...so when do we all get the cute little drone sidekicks?” said Jaime as the four of them lit up their flashlights and walked into the corridor.

“You’re welcome to build your own,” said Marti, shining her flashlight around the massive heptagonal hallway. There was a loud ‘thunk-CHUNK’ and the hallway suddenly lit up in unnerving red lights. It mostly eliminated the need for flashlights, but all of them hesitated to turn them off. There came a loud whirring and all of them flinched with alertness.

“Stay calm,” said Marti, holding up a hand to make them pause in their steps. she brought a hand to her temple, apparently focusing on Ebo’s feed in her goggles, “Security drones incoming,” she said. Jaime swung his rifle off of his shoulder and Samir materialized his rifle from hard-light, “Aedan, stay low. If they get your head the mission is scrubbed. Samir. Take drones at two o’clock to eight o’ clock. Jaime. Eight to two.”

Jaime audibly cocked his rifle. The drones came flying out of the darkness, unnerving things, radially symmetrical, somewhere between squid and jellyfish in their design, bearing some resemblance to the gwishin omnic but even more unnervingly reminding Aedan of the construction of his own mother’s combat suit with a strange tightness to their chassises. Aedan could already feel dread chilling his blood but both Samir and Jaime quickly and efficiently dispatched the drones. A few loud shots echoing off the metallic walls of the corridor and the drones spun and crashed to the ground next to them. About 7 or 8, virtual target practice.

“Not to jinx it but... seems a little underwhelming, right?” said Jaime, “As far as secret labs go?”

Both Marti and Samir gave Jaime a wary glance as if he might very well jinx it, but there was a sound overhead and all of them flinched, Jaime and Samir bringing their rifles to the ready, but only a few nonfunctioning drone chassis tumbled out of a duct. They glanced up at the duct, noting even more nonfunctioning drones jamming it. There was a scuttling sound and Aedan tensed, only to see Ebo scuttling back to Marti.

“...I guess at one point they were supposed to overwhelm any intruders with numbers,” said Marti, picking up Ebo, folding its legs back in, and tucking the robot back into a slot on the harness on her back. She glanced over at Aedan, stooping over one of the dispatched drones.

“Aedan, if you want to study it further, we can grab it on the way out---” Marti started but Aedan was folding and unfolding one of the wing-like appendages on the drones.

“Pseudo-organic...” murmured Aedan.

“Come again?” said Marti.

“Nothing just...” Aedan pulled himself up to his full height, “Technically they’re living things.”

“What?” Jaime tilted his head.

“Well... insomuch as a nanite is a living thing,” said Aedan, rejoining the group.

“...Are you good?” said Marti, as Aedan closed the distance between them.

“You need someone with experience in Talon’s science division,” Aedan answered with a level of obviousness.

“But are you good?” said Marti, “This mission is already hitting close to home with you---”

“Look, it’s just a practical exploration of one branch of the capabilities of nanite design,” said Aedan, irritated, “I’ve already gone through my whole stupid clone angst well before I even defected, I’m here to make sure something good actually comes of it. Which I can’t do if everyone is treating me like a Fabergé egg.”

“I’ll take your word for it...” said Marti, glancing off.

Aedan did his best to ignore the implications of her words as they continued walking forward. “I’ll take your word for it,” didn’t simply imply that she believed his words, there was another layer to it. “I’ll take your word for it,” easily translated to, “I believe that you believe that---and of course, just because you believe this about yourself or your situation doesn’t make it true.” But no, despite everything he strived for as a person, Aedan knew his very existence represented probably the ugliest side of Talon’s unfettered scientific ambition.

It’s why they brought me, thought Aedan as they reached another massive steel door and the three of them looked to him expectantly. There was a retinal scan terminal next to the door.

“Your time to shine,” said Marti, as Aedan stepped up to it.

“...couldn’t you have tried to decrypt it? Or blow it open?” said Aedan, stepping up to the terminal.

“We don’t know if that would have activated some self-destruct failsafe,” said Samir, “We want to see the lab how Talon would have seen it.”

“Of course,” said Aedan, bringing his eye to the scanner.

Two blue lines of light crisscrossed over his mahogany brown eye.

“O’Deorain, Moira,” an automated voice sounded from the computer, “Vocally confirm any guests with you for biometrics.”

A bit of panic flared up in Aedan’s chest, but he glanced back t his three compatriots and looked back at the terminal. Pitching his voice in the best approximation of his mother’s, he spoke, “O’Deorain, Moira, reporting. And three guests.”

“Accepted,” said the terminal, “Enter passcode.”

“What?” said Aedan.

“Verbally state your passcode,” said the terminal.

“Let me decrypt it,” said Marti, bringing her goggles back down over her eyes.

“Please enter passcode in the next... 40 seconds,” said the terminal.

“Will it decrypt that fast?” said Aedan, quickly.

“No,” said Marti, looking at him.

Aedan brought in a sharp breath through his teeth. His mother never had very good passcodes for anything, largely because she was dealing with Talon passcodes around every corner with Talon putting pressure on her to come up with new ideas all the time. What would she pick for here? What would she pick for now? Something obvious. Something reflecting her sensibilities.

“Please enter passcode in the next... 20 seconds,” droned the terminal.

“Uh, Aedan?” said Jaime.

“Darwin!” Aedan flinched at how loudly the word came out of him.

“Passcode expired. Please enter current passcode in the next...9 seconds,” said the terminal.

“Aedan--” Samir started.

“Beagle!” blurted out Aedan.

There was a pause of a few seconds, then another ‘thunk-CHUNK’ as the gears behind the door shifted, and the massive steel doors pulled away revealing a large lift.

“...How did you know that?” said Marti.

“Well,” Aedan shrugged, “Some side effects to Mum supplementing my memories with hers, I suppose, but mostly? We’re both lazy in our way. I mean, I supposed there would come a point where you get so exasperated with passcodes that you just defer to the passcode being the location the passcode is in so...” He trailed off and scanned the faces of his team members.

“Let’s just... get on the lift,” said Marti.

The four of them moved onto the lift. There were only two other floors. A main level, and what seemed to be a ship bay for evacuation or Talon drop ships. They opted for the main level. The lift hummed and all of them felt a distinct gut-sinking feeling as it plummeted.

All of them tensed as the doors opened to a massive chamber hewn into the mountain itself and supported by steel beams like the ribs of a massive beast. There were more ‘thunks’ and ‘whirrs’ as the auxiliary power lit up the lab, cold little white lights on footpaths thrummed up from the floor, creating an eerie lighting from below, and there were a few industrial lights shining down on a central lab table. Lining the lab walls however, were what appeared to be massive cylinders of tight bands of metal, each equipped with its own terminal and what appeared to be a generator.

“Full scan, Ebo,” said Marti, once again taking the little robot off of her back and sending it scuttling off into the dark recesses of the lab. Scalloping around the tanks, the little spider drone bustled around a corner into a corridor which Aedan assumed might lead to the generators for this lab.

“What are we looking at here?” said Jaime.

“I’d guess maybe cryogenic research?” said Samir, walking up to one of the metal cylinders and putting his hand on it, “Feels like it would be appropriate, given the location...”

“So we might just end up thawing out Talon agents if we touch the wrong thing,” said Jaime. He snorted. “Can you imagine just... being forgotten in a freezer for years?”

“...Overwatch actually had that happen with Doctor Zhou,” said Samir.

“Speculating gets us nowhere,” said Marti as she walked up to the first cylinder’s terminal. She brought her goggles down and activated the holographic screens of the terminal, her fingers racing across them to decrypt.

“It’s too warm in here for cryogenics,” Aedan said, mostly to himself as he headed to another cylinder He rapped a knuckle on the cylinder. The reverberation of the metal wasn’t quite hollow. He frowned and turned to the terminal, typing a few old Talon access codes. The holographic interface lit up, displaying flatlined vitals. Samir might be right, thought Aedan, It could be cryo... but another possibility was itching at the back of his mind. Aedan selected a button that said, ‘Open exterior shell,’ just as an excited huff came out of Marti.

“Got it--!” Marti started as the metal bands slid to the side but that tone of victory in her voice quickly shrank in her throat. Aedan glanced at his own cylinder and saw the bands sliding away from it, revealing glass and… yellow. His gut seized. All four of them stumbled away from the cylinders, shrinking in close to Marti in horror as the metal bands slid away to reveal two yellowish glass tanks, each with a naked man floating in it with dozens of wires stuck into his skin and a particularly unnerving wire ported at his temple. Mnemosyne, Aedan thought, mindlessly feeling at the side of his own head. It took a second to make out their hair in the yellowness of the tank, it was a bit long for amnio-tank regulations. How long had they been abandoned? How much did the biotics slow the keratinization process of the growth of hair?

“Blonde clones in tubes...” Jaime said, trying to keep the nervousness out of his voice but somewhat blindly fumbling for Samir’s hand, “Like I said before: Not a good look.”

“Look at their faces,” said Marti, squinting.

The truth was their faces had that strange, anonymizing shadow of death upon them. The way death makes anything look so very remote from anything it looked like in life. They were in tanks of biotics, but all Aedan could think about were embryos and reptiles in jars of formaldehyde. But they could still pick up a sharp nose, a strong jaw, and thin lips.

“…Jack Morrison,” Samir said hollowly. Even without the scars, everyone could recognize that nose and that jawline from the posters that had colored their world since well before any of them were born.

“You’re telling me Talon devoted an entire lab to cloning Jack Morrison?” Jaime said, his face twisted up.

“It might not be just Jack Morrison,” said Marti, quickly heading to the lab’s central terminal, and Samir paled slightly.

“With all data on the SEP serum destroyed, it was their most logical bet,” said Aedan, “Short of grave-robbing other subjects from the Omnic crisis, but I doubt any samples there would be viable if they couldn’t scry the compound from genetic information.”

He felt Jaime’s eyes on him, shrewd and disturbed. Aedan pressed his own lips together, hating how much he still knew about how Talon thought. Hating how much he still thought like Talon.

Marti still had her goggles down, streams of data going over the lenses as she typed at the central terminal, “I’m getting the next one open.”

They all tried to keep steady, but the loud whirrs and ‘thunks’ which issued from Marti’s hacking efforts while all their eyes were fixed on the other clones in the amnio-tanks made all of them flinch.

A nervous laugh fell out of Jaime. “Keep expecting their eyes to open...” he said, his voice a little strained.

The metal bands slid away on the next cylinder, revealing not a blonde man but a floating amorphous pulp of black.

“Nanite amalgam?” said Aedan, tilting his head.

“What’s a nanite amalgam, again?” whispered Jaime.

“Baby reaper,” whispered Marti.

“They’re not ‘Baby Reapers,’” said Samir, “More like... Reaper goo coral colonies.”

“But we don’t--I mean Talon doesn’t usually let them get this big...” murmured Aedan, “It’s easier to observe cellular anomalies when they’re...” he trailed off and tapped at the monitor next to the tank with the black pulp. Aedan put a hand over his mouth.

“What?” said Marti.

“...it’s not a nanite amalgam. This... was an attempt at cloning Reyes,” said Aedan, his shoulders dropping, “Couldn’t maintain cellular cohesion. He...” Aedan took a steadying inhale, “In the most scientific terms... ate himself.”

Jaime’s lips pulled back from his teeth in some combination of repulsion and that odd scrambling need to use humor to try and maintain some mental grip on the situation but also knowing he shouldn’t do that for Aedan’s sake.

“Aedan, do you need to--?” Marti started.

“Open the next tank,” said Aedan, stiffly. Marti gave him a look and Aedan cleared his throat. “Please. If it’s... in your best judgment, team leader.”

Marti tapped away at the monitor again. The next tank was a similar black pulp but now in a roughly human shape, like a shadow.

“This one managed to maintain its hox genes...” murmured Aedan.

“I’ve found the ‘Emergency access’ channel--I’m opening the rest of them,” said Marti.

There was a series of clanks and whirring then and the rest of the tanks were revealed. These weren’t all identical clones. If Aedan had to make a comparison, he would say it was like An artist’s body of work as defined by a particular phase. There was Picasso’s Blue Period, and here was his mother’s “Try and create a supersoldier that combines the most terrifying aspects of both Morrison and Reyes with varying but all uniquely disgusting results” period.

“Subjects seven through eighteen,” Aedan said quietly, pressing one hand to the glass of an amnio-tank. He remembered McCree interrogating him shortly after his defection. Why does everyone always assume clones are made in bulk?

They weren’t made in bulk, thought Aedan, This is trial and error. This is throwing everything at a wall and seeing what sticks.

There was a man in the tank with a ruddier skin tone than Jack’s but hair too light to be Reyes’s--or at least most of him--his arms and legs tapered off into cloudy black points, like a piece of wood that had only half of it burned.

“Couldn’t maintain cellular cohesion at the extremities. Organs were probably in a state of peril from the start and failed as it moved inward,” Aedan muttered.

“Uh--Aedan?” said Marti, but Aedan moved across the next tank, featuring a man with similar features midway between Reyes and Morrison, in somewhat complete form, but with the entire back of his head dissolved and trailing up

“Could reconstruct most of his body but not the arbor vitae. Probably killed himself at the first attempt at a fade, yet the nanites still responded to the peripheral nerves. Very unusual,” he murmured.

“Aedan,” Samir’s voice was troubled but Aedan was too caught up in his observations, moving to the next tank.

The clone in this one was... unfortunate. Really more of just a brain and spine surrounded by a black cloud of nanites. “The previous couldn’t maintain the integrity of the central nervous system, this one couldn’t maintain the integrity of the periphera--”

“AEDAN!” Jaime bellowed and Aedan glanced up. Jaime pointed to the end of the row of tanks. The last tank was empty--or at least, what was left of it was empty. What remained of the tank was jagged glass rendered virtually white from all its fissures. They had all been so busy looking at the tanks and monitors they didn’t catch the shards of glass sparkling in those cold floor lights at the base of the final tank. The glass definitely showed that something had burst out of the tank, rather than a force shattering it inward.

“...do we know... why Talon abandoned this lab?” the words came out of Aedan squeakier than he wanted.

“Well, mostly our prerogative is to secure any Talon site that’s tactically viable,” said Samir.

Marti pressed a button on the side of her goggles and a clear tension overcame her, “And you know what?” she said, her voice pitching higher than usual, “Let’s consider this one secured! Let’s go to the lift, everyone!”

“What?” said Samir.

“But there’s still so much to--” Aedan started.

“We are going to the lift,” said Marti through clenched teeth, “Now.”

There was a scuttling and Aedan, Samir, and Jaime all instinctively clustered close, only to see Marti’s drone Ebo scuttling out of a dark corridor of the lab. Marti un slung her shockcaster off her back and fired off several tether lines behind the little spider robot.

“Uh, Marti--?” Jaime started.

“I said get to the li--” Marti shoved her goggles up off of her eyes as a horrible creaking, sloshing sound came out of the corridor behind Ebo, “NOW!” she shouted, “GO NOW!”

What lurched out of the corridor, Aedan couldn’t really compare to the nanite amalgams he had sent swarming over Urdr when he had defected with Rei. Too much of it was flesh-toned. But the black of nanites spiraled all over the whorls of skin and muscle making it up. Aedan didn’t try to make out how many eyes or hands were throbbing and blinking and clenching in it. Somehow, despite having far more eyes than any organism had any business having, all of those eyes fixed on them. Four dumb kids in brightly colored windbreakers standing smack dab in the center of the lab. Some of the eyes that looked at them were blue. Some were brown. Some had entirely too much pupil. Too much tapetum lucidum. Some were runny with tears and yellow gunk. The mass of nanite-spiraled muscles and flesh pressed out at Aedan like some creature trying to burst out of an amniotic sack. Aedan was frozen in place mouth hanging open, staring at this creature. This thing that came from a tank and was made of only a few smatterings of DNA and nanites, just like he did. He stood there, dumbly, until he felt felt Jaime grab his arm and he felt his own legs pumping as all four of them sprinted for the lift.

Marti fired out a tether at Ebo, caught the little robot, then yanked back hard, whisking the drone into her arms. She hugged it close to her chest as she ran. It wasn’t clear if she was protecting it or she thought it might protect her. Jaime just kept running, gripping Aedan’s arm so hard it hurt as Aedan flailed behind him, unable to pull his eyes away from the crawling, clawing mass that pursued them. Samir tossed out a few turrets to slow it down but soon surrendered to the dead sprint to the lift as the pulsing mass of flesh and nanites and muscles and sinew and limbs that didn’t know if they were hands or feet but were still reaching out, feeling out, followed after them. The four of them scrambled into the lift and Marti feverishly slammed the ‘close door’ button as the mass sloshed and crawled and reached for them. Samir brought up a hard light shield and the fleshy mass pressed against it, not-quite-hands pressing white against the bluish light before the doors of the lift finally closed and the lift shot upward.

“Guh--” some repulsed noise throbbed out of Jaime’s throat. Jaime, who never knew how to shut up for anything, was at a horrified loss of words. He suppressed a gag.

“Subject Eighteen...” the words left Aedan in a breath, a manic laugh shook him, “You created something with SEP serum toughness, and nanite adaptiveness but it wasn’t--it wasn’t...”

“Aedan--” Marti touched his arm.

“It was adapting,” Aedan was babbling, “It was adapting. It knew not to give itself a mouth or vocal chords because maybe then we could hear it coming--”

Marti suddenly pulled him into a hug.

“Probably converted what labtechs were here into biomass...” Aedan’s voice was breaking.

“Breathe, it’s okay,” said Marti.

“There’s a brain in there--maybe a lot of brains---maybe--” Aedan didn’t know why he kept talking. Maybe talking was all that kept the worst of the horror back. He felt Jaime layer himself around Marti in that same embrace.

“Tell me it’s not me--Tell me that thing isn’t me---” Aedan wasn’t quite sure when his face had gotten so wet with tears but it must have been bad because even Samir was piling into the hug now.

“It’s not you,” Marti’s voice was half-muffled against the bulk of Aedan’s own coat. Aedan just sank to his knees, his breath heaving between hyperventilating and sobs, and the rest of the team sank with him. Their only comfort was the thrum of the lift itself, bringing them up further and further from the horror below.

Hello everyone! I like you to meet Neisha Kate Alcalde Peig. She is from the Province of Abra, she is 20 years old and currently my classmate at the University. I have known her since the week I transferred in the University. Sometimes we hang out after our class, we go to restaurants that she knows and she put me into places that I haven’t yet see and introduce it to me. She loves reading books (specifically novel, fantasy, fiction). During this pandemic she did a lot of stuffs like visiting places she never been visit before (within their province). She considers hiking as her hobby because sometimes staying at their home would make as a prisoner. Since 4th grade, she joined softball team in their school and then she was in 6th grade she was chosen to be one of the players that will represent their school to compete in the Provincial Athletic meet that even made her push through the Regional athletic meet, until she got into a tragic experience which led her to quit playing. Unexpectedly, while they were practicing for the regional meet, she got into an accident, where he forearms was tremendously fractured and her wrist was dislocated. She was hospitalized and underwent surgery for the metal plate replacement. That was during her senior year in the University of the Cordilleras. She enjoyed eating foods and watching movies, but she doesn’t like talking about other people’s lives and her one major failure in life is that she wasn’t able to pursue her dream to be a national softball player. She knows she was that close to achieve her dream but she realizes that single mistake made her dream shattered. She said that her Highschool life become memorable because she went to different schools which made her who she was today. And she is handling this phrase “Nothing is impossible if you have goals in life” to keep her on-road to achieve her goals. Her only thing she can say/advice to you is ‘you may make wrong choices; you may go through miserable situations keep in that everything that is here on earth is not permanent. Failure, pain and agony all of this will change into positive vibes. Her motivation in life is “what I have been through is enough to motivate me to do more, to push my limits in order to achieve and accomplish the goals I want and to give my son a better future.”

She is the kind of person who is beautiful (Morena), hyper, amazing person and enjoyable to be with. Having experience being with her is something that you would never regret of having knowing her. Sometimes she has this attitude that she doesn’t want to have any companion, maybe she just needs to have what we call “me time”. She is a very talented person, aside from being an athlete she can also dance and can make you smile in your sad moments. She is like all other normal human being, who sometimes got into miserable situations, even though she is a jolly and nice person. But with her strong characteristic, she wouldn’t give up easily and she always know what to do with it.

Kyle B. Anno, was born in 2001, now 19 years old and lived in Aurora province. He is one of my classmates in online journalism at the University, who I just recently know him by means of conducting investigations and I got chance to know his background. I came to know that he is fun of hiking, trekking, doing adventures like finding and discover new places. He likes doing things that he hasn’t yet done; he likes to do more life experiencing as something he would never forget about. Kyle, is a kind of person who love different sports, he got me surprised by the different kinds sports which he participated since when he is still a kid. He was able to learn how to swim at the age of 8, in his Highschool year, he was able try a new sport which is chess and had the chance to participate many tournaments fortunately.

Having a time to bond with our friends and family is something that we would value. He and his friends, when they have the chance to get together, they always play table tennis as their kind of bond and to showcase their new adopted techniques, they always challenge each one another to know who is really the best among them. His main sport is baseball, he started this sport since he was 6th grader up to until 11th grade. Just like the other sports he was able to play and which he gone through many tournaments; he also participated many tournaments in baseball. After then, he just recently switches his sport in lawn tennis that which it just caught his attention, it is like he got into love at first sight. Like other individuals, we all have regrets and dislikes in life. Kyle doesn’t want people who don’t know where to place their pride, it does make him somewhat uneasy when he encountered people with this kind of attitude. His regret in life is that, he didn’t study well when he was in Highschool and Senior high. What he had done in his Highschool year might hinder him to go to college and it might affect his dreams in life. But luckily, he was able to overcome it and tried to improve his self and prove to his parents that he is not that kind of person right now. In his Highschool life, he was able to interact with different students in their school and was able to build good relationship with them which turned to become his friends, sometimes they don’t follow the rules, they just do things what they want, either good or bad as long as they are happy about it.

His philosophy in life is that “be aesthetic eve by per se also” and his advises for each and every one of us is that “do what satisfy you, but don’t play beyond boundaries”. He is trying to say that, we do anything that can make us happy individually, but we should know our limit. One month of Corona quarantine @ Cajón del maipo, Santiago de Chile

April 2020 in Santiago de Chile. Our flights have been canceled, borders are shut, shops are closed and the government has ordered all to stay in. It’s cuarentena-time: You are not really allowed to leave your house without a good reason and a police permit. In the last few hours before it begins, we make our escape to our luxury prison where will spend the next month. It’s about as beautiful as a quarantine can get.

1.5 hours drive into the pre-cordillera, where the Andes begin, there is a little valley called Cajón del Maipo. Here we have rented a cute little cabin of 8x4 meters. The whole thing is made of beautiful wood, with windows and mosquito nets. The roof is diagonal, highest at the entrance side. We have an extremely comfortable queen size bed, a narrow kitchen table with 2 chairs, a big fridge/freezer. The kitchen has 2 gas-powered stoves. Plus a bathroom and hot shower. Every little detail of the cabin is rustic - done with remarkable attention and just cute and pretty. I really wish I could do this kind of craftsmanship. Outside we find an enchanting pool area where we will spend the bulk of our daytime henceforth. A 10 x 3 meter pool with cold water fed in directly from the mountain streams. There is a deck behind it, made from wooden planks (boat like) and 2 lie-down chairs on it. There are 3 trees at the end with leaves in different states of autumn - one green, one yellow, one red. Next to the pool there is a another chill area with stones, a table with chairs (Iguana’s favorite work space) and 2 beautiful wooden lazyboys.

Beyond the pool there are around 300 lavender bushes, and looking further uphill all sorts of different fruit trees: Peaches, apricots, pears, figs, chestnut, apples. There are other wooden constructions like Patricia’s house, a furnace area to make fires. The whole place is built on the slope of a hill, implying that looking up it’s just more trees and treetops. And looking down you see past the valley onto mountain tops. The place is somehwat alive with at least 7 different types of birds emitting lots of funny noises, moving back and forth across the treetops and little SA-chicken type ones on the floor. A funny gecko with it’s lower half blue-man group blue. Some really funky insects (one looks like the demon from Stranger Things Series II). Every day we rescue about 15 flying things from the pool. And at night I found a bat cruising above it. One night while we were watching a movie in bed, something lands on my ear. I wipe it off and soon see it was a gigantic spider. It takes us about 5 minutes to scare it out of the 4-layer bed sheets and trap it in a whiskey glass: The wolf spider (half-size Tarantula) feeds on other spiders :-(

So what do we actually do here? A typical day will start around 8:30 am. We will have a nice breakfast, and then venture to the pool area. There is enough shade until about 10:30. Then you can choose to find shade or sit in the sun, taking little refreshment breaks in the pool. This is tricky, as the pool is just a little bit too cold to spend serious time and a bit too small to really swim in it. So usually we will dip in to freshen up, but it’s more of a sensual process, as we slowly dip different body parts into it, from feet and legs while sitting on the edge, up to the belly button area when standing on the steps or - and this is an Iguana game, walking with you arms along the side of the pool, without getting your chest wet. Only once the effort of pushing yourself up from the ledge with your arms is greater than your fear of the cold water, do you accept you have to get in and drop. It’s sooo fresh. Then a few minutes later, we will get out and enjoy the almost greater pleasure to lie down on the hot stone floor along the edge, or the wooden bar behind it. It’s just ibizious!

To add some activities Iguana does pluckets (!) and different stretches and I will do daily 45-90 minutes of Bikram Yoga, followed up on occasion by 20 minutes of meditation.

The sun sets beyond the mountain around 6 pm and then we will have maybe another hour before it actually gets dark. After that it’s dinner time until 10 pm and a movie until midnight. The movie bit is really terrible. We summoned Igu’s screen writer sister Valeria to copy us a list of her favorite movies. Yet, after watching about 5 I must insist that all of them are terrible! Not badly made, it’s just they are all fuckin weird and don’t leave you with a pleasant mindset to go to bed.

While I spend my days studying online courses about animal behaviour, ecology and cloud formation, Iguana is sparked by creation: Noticing that most of her friends in lockdown are focused on cooking, she summons their help and converts them into pandemic chefs. Igu writes her first book “Menú Covid-19”, published on Amazon the next month and featured in the Chilean news.

“Getting To Know Me Blog”

I want to start this blog by introducing first myself since this is my first ever blog. I’m Lieca Palaguitang Areola, 21 years of age. I was born and raised in the beautiful Province of La union, And I’m currently taking up Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies in the University of the Cordilleras.

Ever since i was a kid, I always dreamt of becoming a Stewardess, I want to travel around the world I want to explore and see the beautiful places in other countries, I want to take pictures every tourist spot. But unfortunately, there’s a height requirement and my height is not qualified, So i had to take another course which is Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies. I know it’s a bit far from what i’ve dream to become but i don’t have a choice that’s why i took this course.

The most unforgettable experience i’ve ever had was visiting the northern blossom which is located in Atok, Beguet. It was breath taking and very relaxing place to visit. When you love taking pictures this is the perfect place to visit because there’s so much spot you can take a pictures.

All i want and dream is to finish my studies and find a good work. And she’s one of the reason why I want to finish my studies, because i want to pay back all of her hardships and sacrifices that she had to do for the sake of out family.

If there’s a life lesson that i have learned in life is that you have to focus on yourself and do what ever makes you happy because life is too short so you have to live your life the fullest. Don’t pay attention on what others think.

The wanderer’s classmates did not know it then — the woman’s classmates thought that every penny the wanderer had for that trip was given — but the wanderer had to earn it by working for the woman’s grandmother every weekends.

That was the woman’s earliest memory of Baguio City. Even now that the city has undergone a lot of changes and more cool, rustic towns have become accessible, the wanderer still find a bus bound for Baguio again and again. It is hard to forget something that left such a magical first impression. The wanderer means that, there were the chilly breeze and thick fogs every night.

Baguio was built as a hill station in 1900, at the start of the American Colonial Period. That’s why the names of many of the key landmarks sound western or American. Burnham Park was named after Architect Daniel Burnham, who planned the city; Wright Park after Governor-General Luke Edward Wright; Camp John Hay after John Milton Hay, who was President Roosevelt’s Secretary of State; and Bell House after General J. Franklin Bell. The Mansion, one of the city’s most recognizable buildings, was constructed to serve as the official residence of the Governor General.

Today, Baguio is the biggest city and the economic center of the Cordillera region. Despite being a resort city, it is highly urbanized, home to almost 350,000 residents, many of which are from surrounding towns and provinces who moved to the city for work or studies. It is this cooler attitude that makes Baguio a magnet for tourists trying to escape the searing heat of the lowlands, especially in the summer.

Baguio looks easy and simple on the map, but it is a lot more complicated in reality. But picture it this way: At the very center of the city is Burnham Park. Many of the key places of interest are located somewhere around it. Most key roads is somehow directly connected to it. Even jeepney terminals are easily accessible from the park.

There is also a lot of activities to enjoy here, mostly catering to families. The travellers can rent a swan boat so those people can paddle along Burnham Lagoon or the tourists can rent a bike or go kart and ride around the park. Another popular tourist spot is Mines View Park, so called because it overlooks the gold and copper mines of Itogon town below. The view point is also a fantastic spot to watch the sunrise. Unlike Burnham Park, the place can get crowded because the area is not that spacious. The tourists and travellers can also find a lot of souvenir stores around.

A short walk from Wright Park is the Mansion. Built in 1908, the Mansion served as the official residence of the US Governor-General in the Philippines. Today, it is the official summer palace of the President in the Philippines. Right across the Mansion is a long pond, the far end of which is a favorite photo spot. Situated between Wright Park and Teachers’ Camp along Leonard Wood Road, the Baguio Botanical Garden is another popular destination in the city. It’s a great place to relax and surround yourself with the trees without going too far from the city center. This is also pretty vast, so expect a bit of walking.

The wanderer wants to tell more places to travel in Baguio. But, the woman also wants the readers to not spoil everything that the woman experienced in there. The wanderer explained that, it is still a different feeling when someone is telling the people about their own escapade via social media, personal talks and etcetera versus when those people experienced the same feeling that their friends or acquaintances are gushing about. July 6, 2019 - My Farewell Love Letter to Santiago, Chile

It has taken me a while to put this post up on my blog. I’m not sure if this is due to my crazy busy schedule now that I am home or due to being in denial about the fact that I’m no longer abroad, but it seems to be six of one and half a dozen of the other.

The week before we started packing our bags, Lisi and I retraced our steps back to all of the spots that turned Santiago into home for us and I photographed her in them on film. I wanted to capture the tumultuous feeling of being alone in a big new place and the growth that came with finding ourselves in it. This country gave me more than I ever could have expected. Below are the pictures from the project, accompanied by the journal entry I wrote on the plane ride home.

So, the day has come. I am sitting on my flight home from Chile, using the pen of the sweet woman next to me, listening to the playlists I made at the beginning, middle, and end of this grand adventure, and reading new Rebecca Solnit words (The Faraway Nearby) to celebrate and understand this beautiful journey. I’m not quite sure how to put it into words, but I suppose I will start by describing what I’ve learned and (as usual) the song and/or Rebecca Solnit quote that solidified it for me. Here is my love letter to the me that I have become here in Chile.

A quote from “The Faraway Nearby” by Rebecca Solnit that summarizes my feelings about Chile’s impact on me is a great place to start:

“I talked about places, about the ways that we often talk about love of place, by which we mean our love for places, but seldom of how the places love us back, of what they give us. They give us continuity, something to return to, and offer a familiarity that allows some portion of our lives to remain connected and coherent... And distant places give us refuge in territories where our own histories aren't so deeply entrenched and we can imagine other stories, other selves, or just drink up quiet and respite. The bigness of the world is redemption. Despair compresses you into a small space and a depression is literally a hollow in the ground. To dig deeper into the self, to go underground, is sometimes necessary, but so is the other route of getting out of yourself, into the larger world, into the openness in which you need not clutch your story and your troubles so tightly to your chest. Being able to travel both ways matters, and sometimes the way back into the heart of the question begins by going outward and beyond. This is the expansiveness that sometimes comes literally in a landscape or that tugs you out of yourself into a story.”

I deeply feel this quote. She perfectly put into words why I not only wanted but needed to come to Chile.

Times/places this feeling was most present:

- looking out my window at the cordillera my first morning and the fresh new feeling

- laying in the sand of the Atacama with Tori, Josh, Lucas, and Eliza watching the clearest stars I had ever seen

- in the metro surrounded by strangers

- the first day I sat in Cafe Colmado and felt as though I had found home again

- walking in the rain at the end of the W trek in Torres del Paine

- staring up at Mount Aconcagua in Argentina

- watching the sunset in the Concon Dunes with Chris while “Inside Out” by Spoon played

- staring down from Huayna Picchu at Machu Piccu

- staring down into Devil’s Throat in Iguazu

- petting the labrador on the beach in Rapa Nui

- watching the solar eclipse from the Elqui Valley

What I learned here in Chile:

1. I am strong beyond measure. I have such a deep sense of self now and I am deeply proud to be who I am. I’m happy with the me that developed here. I think this may be the first time I can say that I unabashedly love myself.

2. Change and new environments are good. They are critical to growth.

3. Every moment of my past life was crucial in getting me to where I am now. This includes the things that used to make me bitter. I have no bitterness left in my body. Only love and hope for the future.

4. Not everything is easy. But everything can be overcome.

5. You will find new kinds of love in every person you meet. Every moment of this love is worth it.

6. You could die in a plane crash or fall off of a mountain at any moment. There is no productivity in regret.

Songs of Chile:

Sisters of the Moon by Fleetwood Mac: I developed a much deeper love for the sun and moon and stars and their influence on the natural order of things here in Chile. These ideas now ground me in a very special way.

Drops of Jupiter by Train: This song is an embodiment of my journey. I feel as though I am the woman being described and that the feelings expressed are now what I expect from those I love. I want to walk across the sun and surround myself with people who encourage me to do so.

No Plan by Hozier: This song makes me think of the first bus I took to Valparaiso. The idea that this semester would take whatever path it found and that I was absolutely okay with that exists in this song.

World on Fire by NOAH: This was a lesson that the songs you need to hear can come from the most unexpected people, as it was sent to me randomly by an acquaintance on instagram. A symbol of my world that is beautifully on fire, and that those that join must burn with me.

Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks: The exact sentiment of the Rebecca Solnit quote. I needed the physical movement and new hardship and distance to finalize my process of moving on beyond an old me.

Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine: Happiness hit me and it still can and still does all the time.

Back in My Body by Maggie Rogers: You can lose yourself, but sometimes you just need a certain spark to find yourself again. My spark was Chile.

I am deeply happy with these past six months. I feel that this experience helped me grow in such a necessary way. I am ready to return to normal Michigan life. I got the mental health reset and adventure break I needed, and I’m ready to return to an intense pursuit of my dreams.

I am who I am. I’m proud of that. I’ll take me as I am. They’ll take me as I am. If they don’t, I leave. I’ll never turn down an adventure like this ever again without a really good reason.

Meanwhile, Theresa, red-eyed from crying, is sitting in an armchair in the building’s lobby, being interviewed by a young policewoman with auburn hair. The policewoman is REBECCA MCKENZIE, Dave’s junior partner on the force.

REBECCA: It’s okay to be upset. With what you saw, anyone would be.

She passes Theresa a tissue. She takes it gratefully and wipes her eyes.

THERESA: Who was that creep? Why’d he have to go and... and...

Rebecca shakes her head in sympathy.

REBECCA: Excuse me, miss, this building is restricted. A murder took place here the other-

RHEA (brightly): Yep! I know! That’s why I’m here, actually. I’m working on an article for-

REBECCA: An article? You’re paparazzi?

RHEA (shrugs): I wouldn’t go that far. Just wanting to get the truth out there, y’know? Please? This could be a big story, and-

REBECCA: I’m sorry, what did you say your name was?

Before Rebecca can respond, the elevator doors slide open, and Dave, Sam, and Otis emerge, all three of them arguing.

SAM: -so no more desk jockey nonsense, got it? We’ve got the proof, everyone stay out of my way-

DAVE: The captain isn’t gonna be too happy about this, you really ought to check in with-

SAM: Look, get out of my hair! Don’t you have better things to do with your time?

DAVE: Yes, actually! I was working on a big missing persons case before I got specifically tapped for this one-

OTIS: But wait, what happens now? What about the press? What about my insurance? My reputation is at stake here-

SAM AND DAVE: SHUT UP!

Otis immediately falls silent. Rebecca, Rhea, and Theresa all turn to look at the new arrivals.

REBECCA: Dave! So glad you’re here. This journalist just showed up, asking for... wait, who’s that?

DAVE: Rebecca, this is Sam Massey, U.S. Marshal. She’s been chasing the guy who did this. Sam, this is my junior partner, Officer McKenzie. Best damn rookie I’ve ever seen. Including myself when I was her age.

Sam looks surprised for a moment, but says nothing to Rebecca.

RHEA: Wait, is that Otis Khouri?! Hold on, you own this place, don’t you? Listen, can I ask you a few questions-

OTIS: Reyes, I thought you said you’d keep this silent!

DAVE: Yeah, I did. (to Rhea) Look, kid, I dunno if Officer McKenzie told you already, but we’ve got this whole thing closed to the press. Law enforcement only for now. If you wait long enough, though, once the details of the case get released to the public, I’m sure you could write a great piece on it.

Rhea’s face falls.

RHEA: Sure, me and every other writer in the city...

REBECCA: So, what happens now? Is the Marshal workin’ with us on this, or...?

She gestures toward Sam. Dave shrugs.

DAVE: Beats me. She seems to think she ought to go charging into L.A. on her own, guns akimbo like some-

SAM: I already told you, I work best alone, this is my fugitive-

DAVE: And this is my city! Where do you think you’d be right now if I hadn’t stepped in when I did up there? Think you can catch this guy from the inside of a courtroom, do you?

SAM: Well, Tull sure as hell ain’t gonna lock himself back in jail ‘cause you asked nicely, pretty boy!

DAVE: So what do you expect to do, beat up half of Hollywood until you find him?

SAM: What I do is none of your business, go back to your other “big case” and let me do my job, okay?

RHEA (hesitantly): Uh, Marshal, ma’am? If you need a partner, maybe I could help with-

Sam fixes Rhea with a death glare.

SAM: I. Work. Alone.

RHEA (muttering): Geez, okay, okay! Just thought I’d ask...

DAVE: All I’m asking is that you wait until you get the chance to clear this with Captain Beckham. Right now, I don’t feel comfortable with you going over her head on this-

BECKHAM: “Going over my head” on what?

Everyone turns at the sound of her voice to see CAPTAIN BECKHAM standing at the entrance to the lobby. She is a tall, powerful-looking woman with short black hair and an air of absolute confidence and authority. She fixes Sam with a stern gaze.

BECKHAM: You must be the Marshal. Massey, was it?

Sam blinks in stunned surprise, then stands up straight and faces the captain.

SAM: Yes, ma’am. Sam Massey, Deputy Marshal, West Texas Branch-

BECKHAM: Yes, yes, I know. I pulled your paperwork earlier today. It looks like you pulled some strings to get yourself assigned here.

Beckham frowns suspiciously. Sam swallows hard, clearly nervous.

SAM: I... may have called in a few favors. Appreciate the hospitality, ma’am. Promise to keep my investigation quick.

BECKHAM: Excuse me? Your investigation? Deputy Marshal, you are a guest of my unit, and as such, you will be working alongside one of my officers.

BECKHAM: I’m sorry, who is this?

REBECCA: Some small-time reporter who wandered in here. My apologies, Captain, I was just asking her to leave-

SAM: What? I’m sorry, ma’am, but... him?!

BECKHAM: He is my best detective. I can think of no better officer for the job.

DAVE: With all due respect, Captain, I’ve already gotten what we needed from Otis, and McKenzie and I are still working on the other case-

BECKHAM: McKenzie, you will continue working on the La Huerta case while Reyes tracks down Tull. You’ve proven yourself more than capable of handling this on your own without his help.

REBECCA: You’re... you’re splitting us up?!

The view from my bed was picture-frame perfect. Lake Sarmiento glistened turquoise. The wind howled and Cordillera Paine, the crown jewel of Torres del Paine National Park, glowed powder pink as day broke. Few places take your breath away like the steppes of Patagonia at dawn.

I recently visited Tierra Patagonia and the experience was overwhelming. It’s not often that you experience the vulnerability of being very far away. I have to say, the feeling is liberating.

In a time when awareness is managed through devices and connectivity is escapism, it is rare to find yourself without tools to control interaction. Patagonia is immersive. Internet and cell access is limited, lifting the pressures of distraction. It’s easier to appreciate the breadth of the sky, the smell of local linga wood, and the curious bleating of lambs just outside the windows. The Carmenere tastes better and the delineation between in and out, of and apart, melts away.

Tierra Hotels are committed to simple luxury, sustainability, and service. Properties are always in remote places and each is designed to deliver a strong sense of place. The sensitivity to local communities has resulted in small ecological and cultural footprints.

Tierra Chiloe Miles off the continent, the undulating hills Chiloé Island are cloaked in mist and legend. Miles of small-scale, agricultural outfits, colorful wooden palafito stilted homes, and iconic wooden churches are reminders of a proud history and fiercely independent culture. It feels like you’ve arrived at the edge of the Earth. The people of Chiloe Island have long been a seafaring lot and the architecture on the island strongly reflects that heritage. The island is home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, most notably the unique wooden churches with insides reminiscent of the hull of a ship. Besides mussels and fish, wool is an important export. I suggest visiting a local market and picking up some of the softest sweaters and blankets you’ll find anywhere.

The hotel itself is breathtaking. True to the style of the region, the architecture of Tierra Chiloe focuses on the natural beauty of the destination and its natural resources. The hallways smell like Chilean linga wood. In nooks around the property, local artists are featured with work depicting daily life and Chiloean myths. Outside, the smell of eucalyptus mingles with wood-burning stove. The entry drive is made of crushed mussel shells. Tierra Chiloe is the only five-star hotel on Chiloe Island and the perfect place to retreat for long hikes, evenings by the fire, and for some of the freshest food in the world.

The Girl Who Found Herself in the Midst of Darkness

On January 28, 2002 Ms. Precious Glizel Velasco Rinon was welcomed by the world at Mabanengneng 2nd, Bacnotan, La Union where she was also hailed. She is now 19 years old aspiring to be a lawyer that can also educate the younger generations. Ms. Precious Rinon is the last child of Ms. Flordeliza Balusdan Velasco from Mountain Province and Mr. Ganzon Ocampo Rinon who is from La Union. Their eldest is a boy while her two other siblings are all girls which is for her is an advantage because she has someone who were able to understand her points.

Growing up was never easy for her since she has to be separated from her parents from in a very young age because of financial problems. After finishing her Kinder and Grade 1 years at the Lord of Zion Divine School in La Union, she was sent to Kayan West, Tadian, Mountain Province. Her grandparents were the ones who supported her education and let her continue elementary at Kayan Elementary School where she also graduated with flying colors. Living in a new home was not easy for her especially that she has to make big adjustments in her own way despite of only being a 7-year old child.

As Precious grew up she began to yearn for a mother’s care and a father’s guidance despite of her grandparent’s love. Eventhough her grandparents tried to fill her needs from her biological parents, it was not enough since emptiness started to build inside her. Too young to realize their family’s situation, confusions started to visit her innocence that leads her to ask many questions. Her only aid to this problem is her studies and achievements where she found attention, little happiness but a limited satisfaction.

Starting her junior high school at Holy Rosary High School with fear makes her lose confidence in herself. She thought that she won’t be able to cope up with her new environment but to her surprise it didn’t turn out that way. She was able to enjoy her junior high school life full of happiness and earned life lessons from her new found friends and the hardships and challenges she faced. Even with these blessings, at the end of the day, emptiness and confusions still lingers in her heart and mind. She began to keep herself from the people around her and even her parents. However, she never intended to plant grudges towards her parents, instead, she found ways to understand them and make them proud with her achievements through studying well. Unfortunately, during her last year, she was putted in a traumatizing event. Her cousin’s live-in-partner emotionally abused her which affected her grades since she is unable to handle the situation. Ms. Precious Rinon didn’t let this event make her give up, rather, it made her closer to God, her family and friends.

Before entering the seniority in high school, she thought that she would be spending it with her parents in La Union but to her dismay, her parents decided to let her finish it in Mountain Province. She continued her senior high school in the same school and took up Humanities and Social Sciences since it was the only available strand offered by the institution. Unfortunately, her grandfather died when she was grade 11 but this didn’t hindrance her to make her senior high worth having. The school became her second home where she found friends that turned into a family. She became more mature and independent. Moreover, she was able to understand her parents, accept herself and the situation. Holy Rosary High School taught her many things that she can apply in life wherever she may be.

On March 2020, during the outbreak of COVID-19, her grandmother who was her only family in the province died so she was left alone. This made her parents to finally decide to take her home with them at La Union where she is currently residing.

For her college, she chose to take up Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and finish it at the University of the Cordilleras. She is still a freshman in the said university and still thinking of her steps in the near future.

Going deeper in our online conversation, I asked Ms. Rinon the greatest struggle she faced and she answered “My struggles were my emotional breakdowns, insecurities and worries. I was not good in communicating to other people but through prayers and pushing myself I was able to overcome it.” When I asked her about her greatest heartbreak and fear she sadly answered me “My greatest fear is losing my love ones and losing myself. Unfortunately, one of these fears happened when both of my grandparents died which turned to be my greatest heartbreak with the regret of not spending more time with them and created unforgettable memories that I can treasure.��

Ms. Precious Rinon doesn’t have any idol or a motto in life and when I asked her why she laughingly said “I only go with the flow of what happens in my life and because I easily lose interest and forget things.”

Before ending our interview, I requested a message from her for the younger generations and she left these words “Just enjoy everything and every moment. Make friends, don’t be afraid to commit mistakes because that is part of growing up but you should also know how to correct them. Remember to make your teen age years memorable. Love and accept yourself, through that you would able to show the real you. Just be strong and trust yourself to be able to pass through the challenges you may face” smilingly she added “when it comes to love, don’t find it because it will come to you in the right time. Don’t rush things, be patient and God will provide. Jesus Christ have better plans for you and everything happens for a reason. Whenever you make mistakes, forgive yourself and make it better.

Ms. Precious Glizel Velasco Rinon didn’t have an easy journey to where she is today. She faced many emotional problems like confusion and lost people who are dearly to her. In spite of these challenges, even if she was still struggling she was able to collect her pieces and slowly filled the emptiness in her life.

Who is she…

Leah Mae E. Sucgang is her name and was born on October 27, 1999. I’ve first known her when I am first year and we are in the same batch with the same course, though at that time we don’t much interact as we are not that really close or talk to each other. She had been to Occidental Mindoro and Ilocos Sur for a couple of years. Soon, after she graduated in Junior High School, she moves to Baguio City, which is known as the summer capital and popular for its scenic view, to continue her studies. She was able to successfully finished her Senior High School at the University of Baguio. Now, she is currently a 3rd Year College student taking up the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of the Cordilleras. According to what she said, she is a typical girl who has a big bone. She has fats. Her veins are very visible on her feet that for her it looks like a middle age woman’s feet. She has a skin allergy and sometimes it is itchy and leaves a permanent mark. She said, like a typical girl she has pimples, whiteheads and blackheads grows in her face. She also claimed that her hair was so frizzy and it looks like a witch if she doesn’t tie it that is why she always woke up every freaking 3:00 A.M. or 4:00 A.M. so that her hair will be dry before she flat iron it to straithen it. She also said that her lips were chap, and sometimes there is even a cut or bruise in it and sometimes she looks like a girl who has a cancer because it is pale. And many more, but she’s too tired to enumerate it. She also said to herself that she has many insecurities to herself that she wanted to hide it. She wants to filter it. She wants to change it. She wants to cover it. She wants to remove it. And then, she suddenly thought to herself why do she need to hide it, if this is what she really is. Why does she need to always cover it, if this will tell who she is.

Why does she need to always cover it, if this will tell who she is. Why does she need to filter and edit it, if this is what given to her and a resemblance of a part of her parents appearance. Why does she need to change it, if this will show her true self.

She once said, that she wants to challenge everyone to remove every facade use to hide their real beauty that was kept and hidden by them. She wants everyone to show to the world what they really look like. She wants everyone to showcase to others their bare face. She wants us to be who we are. Bare and proud for own uniqueness.

Because for her, this is what she wants to do and she is starting to do it now. She is starting to embrace those scars, mark in her body. She was starting to be the real her. She doesn’t care even someone judge or make fun of it because for her, she knows deep inside of her heart that she is proud to show it to everyone without minding any negative feedbacks. She is proud to walk in the daylight without hiding her face. Holding her head up and looking straight ahead. Putting her shoulders back. Keeping her chest forward. Tucking her tummy in. Keeping her knees straight. And walking with full of confidence, without minding their stares and/or glance at her.

She once said, and I quoted, “Lets all be our self. Lets not hide our self. Let’s love our self. Because all of us is beautiful in every different and unique way. Our own scars are beautiful.”

Yes, it is true indeed, let us all be our self.

When she was still young, if she was asked what she wanted she will always say foods or any kinds of toy that she likes. Years pass, and her age is kept on adding up and her minds priorities is changing. Now, if they ask what she wants, I guess she would tell without a second is to have a house and lot, business and of course a family van. When people mature their priorities and or ambitions in life change. If before what she thinks is all about her own happiness now her focus is set towards what is best for her, for her family and for her own future family.

As of now, she is still studying, and the things she buys depend on what on how much her father had given her. At this age, she knows that she has a lot of wants, but she also knows that she can’t have it all because on how difficult life now there is still more important things needed to be bought and in prioritized than to buy things that is not important and just only deemed to satisfy her wants. Hence, for her, it is best to study hard and to have a better life at the end. Having a higher level education means more opportunities to come but it is up to us on how we will handle it and how we will safely kept our own money. Success can only be attained if we try our best and set priorities in a right way.

Her goal in life starts with the course she’ll finish then after she’ve got the title then after that is to start finding a job in line with what she had finish then start to save money for her future plan. Save money, help her family reach their dream, build a business and her dream house, buy a car, and if everything was done then it is finally her time to enjoy the life.

Travel around the world and such but in all of this time she wants her father by her side, because it is her father want him to be with her and both of them will enjoy everything will enjoy in their life. For her, her father is the one whom she loves the most because it is her father who sacrifices a lot. Who did everything and anything just for her to reach her dreams and all she could do as her daughter is to be a good one and try her best to reach and have it. According to her, her success is also her father’s success too, so she wants him to taste the fruit of all the hardship he had done for her. That in his life she wants him to know and realize all his sacrifices will not go for nothing.

She has full of vitality. She never stops to reach her dreams and no matter what obstacles she faces I know that it will never become a reason for her to stop in achieving her dreams. I root for her to be successful and live well with the people she cares in the future, happy and contented.
