Finch Rambles: Star Wars Rebels edition

One of my headcanons (barely supported by on-screen canon, but hear me out) is that Hera, Captain Rex, and Commander Sato see each other as not just friends, but siblings in a way.

We know from the episode "Iron Squadron" that Jun Sato had a brother. And we know from the entirety of the Clone Wars that Rex had a whole army of brothers.

Most of the time, the three of them (especially Sato) address each other by their formal titles. Occasionally, they call each other the words for "sibling" in their native languages.

Rex is the first one to do so. Sato reminds him so much of his old brothers that he accidentally calls him "vod" (Mando'a for "brother" or "sister" as Sabine later explains to the commander).

Later, during off-duty time, Hera calls Sato the Twi'leki word for "brother": nerra. This is again followed by an explanation from Sabine, who also mentions that Hera's called Zeb "nerra" as well. Sato is a bit surprised, but also happy. He hasn't really had any siblings, not since he lost contact with his own brother.

They all have a mutual respect for one another, in more ways than one: as the leaders of Phoenix Squadron, as friends, and as family.
