Episode 1077-1079: The Black Organization's Scheme
Tumblr media
Based on volume 100, files 1061-1066
Plot in five keywords:
FBI agents get killed by the BO
Conan finds out that the FBI agents carried a code, which later turns out are clues to the FBI’s meeting points
The FBI wants to trick the BO with a fake code, so Camel and another FBI agent take on this mission
Turns out they did a mistake when creating the fake code
So it turns into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse between the FBI and the BO
Important plot development:
We get to know that the BO is on a hunt for FBI agents
The Detective Boys talk about the fact that the corpses can’t be identified. Later, Conan finds out that the men were FBI agents and that the BO has killed all of them
Ai is shocked when Conan tells her to leave with the other Detective Boys and to hide
Gin demands Korn and Chianti to shoot Conan when he gets near the dead FBI agent, but Kir tells them to stop because there are other passerbies and the police is already on it’s way
Conan wonders if the BO has entered his parents’ house
Conan finds out that his parents’ house has become the new base of the FBI because the BO might know which hotels they used to stay. Later, Akai says that it doesn’t look like the BO know about their hotels
James Black wonders how the BO got to know about their codes when they didn’t get them from the FBI agents
Conan thinks that the BO deciphered the FBI’s codes, just like he did
The FBI thinks that the codes were to easy to decipher
The FBI wants to create a fake code to catch the BO
Akai demands that Camel should wear a hat because the BO thinks he died when he drove the car that carried Kir from the hospital back in the Kir arc
Camel realizes that he actually is dead for the BO
Akai says that it can become a problem if someone from the BO remembers Camels face
The BO receives the fake code and is about to head to the fake meeting point when Rum stops them, so the BO doesn’t arrive at the fake meeting point as planned but shoots at the FBI agents that are on side
The FBI at the Kudo’s house get to that their plan has failed and it turns out that Jodie made a mistake when creating the fake code
Camel and the other agent want to leave their hiding spot but Akai stops them because it’s too dangerous, but it was already too late
The Bo is hunting Camel and the other agent
Korn says that he has seen Camel before, but doesn’t quite remember him yet
Camel’s car falls into the water and the Bo thinks he’s dead, but he can flee out of his car
Yusaku says that they have underestimated the BO
The BO finds out that Camel was able to escape out of his car
Camel flees to an island and Akai wants to rescue him, but the BO spots him after he dried his cloths at a campfire
The BO continues to hunt Camel
Kir calls Akai and informs him that their hunting Camel and that she will shoot him if she is told to do so. Akai tells her that he’s ok with it. She also tells him that Korn remembers Camel’s face.
We get to know that the hat, Camel got from Akai, is an invention from Agasa and it contains fake blood
We get to know that Rum gives instructions to the other BO members. Wodka says that he’s never met him, but Gin says that he has an artificial eye and that the rumours about his person (him being a strong man, an old man or a feminine man) are false information that Rum himself spreads to protect his identity
Gin has at least once met Rum
Wodka says that Rum has changed his appearance and has given himself a weird name
The BO finds out that Camel has planned to hide on the island, so Rum tells them to burn it
Chianti shoots at Camel and he falls into the water. Later, it turns out that Camel has used packs of copy paper to protect his body and the fake blood made it look like he really got shot by the BO, so he was able to escape alive
Gin wants to throw a grenade into the water to really make sure that Camel is dead, but Akai shoots at the grenade and it explodes in the air
The BO realizes that someone else is involved and, due to the long distance, they think that only Akai could be the one
Before the BO can recover Camel’s body, the fire department reaches the island and the BO has to flee
Vermouth says that the FBI agent they shoot was Andre Camel. Korn confirms that he knows him because 2 years ago, Rum sent Korn pictures of Camel and Akai, saying that he should kills them when they meet them the next time
Karasuma criticizes Rum because their plan to kill Camel drew to much attention, but he’s also glad that he’s dead
Camel has to cut his hair
Yusaku tells Akai that he didn’t yet get an answer to what happened at the tea party. Conan wonders what he means
Camel tells the others what he has learned about Rum
We get to know that Rum was the old man that Camel told to leave the building when Akai’s disguise / infiltration of the BO got uncovered two years ago
We get to know that Rum is Kanenori Wakita in disguise
Rating:
10/10 dead FBI agents
Well, that was amazing. Just watch this!

Now that the FBI serial murder case is over, what are thoughts on it as a whole? And what do you think about the RUM reveal from the last chapter of the case? Aoyama certainly has done something different from previous reveals, and I wonder what he plans to do next for RUM and the arc mysteries still remaining.
Detective Conan File 1061-1066 Review/Discussion
The information in File 1065, followed by File 1066 reveal drastically changed my viewpoints on Rum and the road map to Rum's resolution.
Starting from File 1065, we learned that Rum's 3 inconsistent descriptions were deliberate rumors that Rum spread to hide his true appearance and identity and that only prosthetic eye was correct. The conclusion I came to from this vital information update is that Rum might possess mainly 1 of these 3 descriptions and that he spread the other 2 rumors along with it so that if by chance any member got a look at him and spread what they witnessed, the truth would be camouflaged among 3 indistinguishable rumors. Meaning that Rum (as a man) would mainly be either a “stocky man”, an “effeminate man” or an “old man”.
Tumblr media
Then came the 2 vital information that connect with File 1066, which is that Rum has changed his face and uses a silly name.
Tumblr media
Here is where the major shifts starts, since we get what is in my opinion undeniable indications that Rum is indeed Wakita (amongst the 3, as SDB BLACK+ indicated, without foulplay). Rum was seen silhouetted mentioning in his recurring polite speech style the "nostalgic story" from 2 years ago during Rye's exposure,...
Tumblr media
...which was soon after followed by an old man sitting in the same car as Rum, recalling the same incident that Rum did, being revealed to be the old man from that Rye loyalty test incident and is shown to clearly possess the one feature that is true about Rum, a prosthetic eye (depicted/revealed in the same way as Kuroda's), and that old man is revealed to be Wakita Kanenori without a wig, moustache, buckteeth and eyepatch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If that wasn't enough, we got another File 1008 situation, where the side-note of File 1066 states that he is "the man with the silly name" (despite the story not even clearing up directly how "Wakita Kanenori" is a silly name), which is essentially handing out the confirmation to the reader that Wakita Kanenori is Rum (similarly to how we got a Boss identity confirmation in the side-note without the story directly addressing it as such).
Tumblr media
That being said however... We ended File 1066 with Team Conan just starting to learn about the new hints "changed his face" and "uses a silly name", just before the aforementioned reveal. We got no sign of resolution whatsoever to the Rum mystery. And when it comes to build-up towards the mystery climax, we had none of Gosho's traditional case setup where all the suspects/players in the overarching mystery comes together as the titular antagonist's goals takes the spotlight and the detective (Conan) has pieced the mystery behind antagonist's identity together.
Tumblr media
To me, this was the biggest indicator that Wakita being Rum is being treated as nothing more than just a "surface reveal" to a more crucial twist/reveal regarding Rum that is being saved for Conan to solve, leading to a future proper Rum mystery resolution (like the Halloween ship case and Mystery train case).
This reveal also surfaced another important indication, that further supported this notion. Rum's old man appearance was used completely undisguised/unaltered as he directly approached a potential traitor (Rye) 2 years ago, which is contradictory to the established behavior/M.O of Rum, where he not only conceals his voice with a voice changer, but even goes as far as to spread misleading rumors of himself, all in order to hide his identity. This further makes it seem like the old man appearance is nothing more than a disguise from the very beginning, which further goes in line with the established information in File 1065 that Rum has changed/disguised his face. So despite Rum seemingly looking to be an “old man” (as according to the descriptions), the truth is still very much likely to be far from that with the new info from Vodka (like for example, an “effeminate man” who has disguised his face).
Therefore, I'm seeing this as merely the beginning towards a real Rum climax, where Rum's/the old man's real identity and face is gonna be revealed (which might happen during the "main event" that Gin foreshadowed in File 1062).
Tumblr media
Basically, we have resolved the "Bourbon arc"-formulated part of the story, and are potentially venturing into the "Vermouth arc"-formulated part of the story.
This is where I’m seeing Iori Muga, the "exceedingly impatient", seemingly english-influenced effeminate butler with a polite speech style, fitting in as the end-goal twist of being Rum’s true identity (through Kohji’s dying message) for Gosho.
There naturally will rise questions of how he manages his time as a butler for the Oooka household (to surveillance the Haneda family that the Oooka are connected with) and as a sushi chef (to watch over the detective who might be investigating the Kohji case), but due to lack of information on both ends (Wakita's and Iori's work schedules), it's something left to explore. Iori Muga could have been given the free time by Momiji (who is clearly portrayed to respect him and his input) to be able to spend those days in Tokyo disguised as “Wakita Kanenori”, as far as we know.
Overall however, I truly enjoyed this case as a whole. File 1066 was definitely my favorite chapter of this case and I'm very happy about the twist (and especially its delivery) that the old man from Kir arc was Rum all along. It made this whole “BO vs Camel” focus way more worth spending time on, and I can only look forward to what’s in store in the actual “main event”.

WarioWare Inc MIDI Data 1001-1100
I am continuing to go through WarioWare Inc’s audio files to look for any text that has been included. This is not usually possible with GBA games, as they typically do not use MIDI files for their audio.
The files do not actually have names, but there is a list of file names stored separately on the ROM. Track 1 is used for universal settings and information about the entire composition, including the title of the composition (set as the track name), any extra descriptive text, and markers to mark specific parts of the composition.
The “END” marker is always somewhere after the end of the composition, unless otherwise specified. The “[” and “]” markers are used to mark the part of the composition that loops.
Text and markers are in chronological order. The format is as follows:

The Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex is one of those places I never get tired of visiting. We road-tripped back there over the weekend to get in one more visit before  the multi-day passes we purchased last year expired.
You’ll need a pretty big tree for this ornament
On this visit, Connie noticed that the Welcome sign above the door to the Space Shop welcomed visitors in 9 languages, including Klingon.

We went there over two days, and spent the second day at the Saturn V exhibit building. The bus tour takes you past the gigantic Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB). Next to the VAB they’re working on building a new launch platform that will be used by NASA’s SLS rocket. It’s an impressively large structure and even larger than the launch platform used for the shuttle.

The bus then takes you past Launch Pad 39A. The last time I was on the bus tour, the pad was one of the stops and people were able to get off the bus and go onto the launch platform. 39A is being used by SpaceX now, so it’s not a stop on the tour anymore. I was on the wrong side of the bus and couldn’t get any decent photos when we went by.
The Apollo/Saturn V Center is always impressive, and it’s pretty easy to spend 2 or three hours exploring all the exhibits here. Next to the Atlantis exhibit, it’s my favourite exhibit at KSC.
Saturn V main engines
A new exhibit (new since my last visit to the Saturn V building anyway) is a memorial to the Apollo I astronauts (Ed White, Virgil Grissom, and Roger Chaffee) who died when a fire started in the command module. It’s a nice exhibit featuring personal items belonging to each of the astronauts as well as the hatch from the command module.

Next time you go, make sure to reserve plenty of time for the Apollo/Saturn V Center.

Back to Kennedy Space Center The Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex is one of those places I never get tired of visiting.

File 1067-1069: Shintoist Temple Case
Bonus material:
Detective Picture Book: Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock)
Bonus material of the special edition:
Detective Picture Book: Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock)
Special Edition cover art and gold cover
Greeting card from Gosho Aoyama
Fabric Bracelet
Tumblr media
Keyhole:
Gin
Favorite case: FBI Serial Murder Case
Least favorite case: I Can’t Decide
Rating:
10/10 corpses
I think the cases that are included in this volume deserve to be cases of volume 100. They’re all very interesting and have a lot of tension. There’s plot relevance and these cases will get really important in the future. If you’ve bought the other 99 volumes, this one is very readable as well. The bonus material of the special edition of my country are rather disappointing, but maybe the bonus material of your local version is better.
