Thank you so much to everyone who came out last night to support the Rock Out ALS show! It was so fun and had so much great energy and good vibes! Perhaps that is the one positive about ALS. 🥰❤️ I spoke for a few minutes about my own experience with ALS which was particularly difficult, and it was hard to hear about everyone else’s experiences, but that’s why this is so important. Not only is raising money to fight ALS important, but so is simply raising awareness. As a person who works in the medical field myself, I can tell you that the rarer and less well known a disease is, the worse the prognosis, and the worse the effect on the mental health of the person with the disease and those of the families involved. When my mom was diagnosed with ALS just 9 years ago, so little was known about the disease that it took MONTHS just to diagnose her, and when they finally said that it was “probably” ALS, we didn’t even really know what that meant. Well, in her case it meant that she would die in four months. It was nothing like Stephen Hawking’s version of ALS, hers was much more rapidly progressive. Anyway, the more people know about a disease the more research that can be done and the more we can fight against it. At least if my mom had been diagnosed with cancer (still fuck cancer) we would have had some idea about the course of the disease. However, I’m still so happy about the strides we are making in fighting the disease, and the good work that everyone keeps doing!!!! 🖤 My dream is that no one has to face the same kind of trauma that my family and I went through with my mom. ❤️❤️ Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets!!! 🎟 We couldn’t sell them fast enough! It was so wild!!! And congratulations to Chelsea who won the beautiful drum head that was signed by all the bands!!!
