For many years, I've carried a pocket notebook in which I inscribe daily musings, documentary information, grocery lists, etc., etc. These informational notes find their way into the art journals that are most often completed back home in my studio. Fully completed notebooks are archived in handmade book boxes.

feb. 22, 2023 — snapshots from work lately. this month has been full of deadlines for me, which in a way was exactly what i needed. i had to submit my scholarship reports and updated dissertation proposal by feb. 10, which took a lot of work but allowed me to center myself again - it forced me to figure out what the heck i'm doing. since then i've been working on some papers i want to publish at scientific journals. it's been a learning curve for me, dealing with a lot of different projects at once, but i'm slowly getting the hang of it and procrastinating a little less. currently, though, i have a 2k word essay due sunday that i haven't even started working on, so... guess we can't have it all. i'll get through it, though! and it's the final essay for my final course credit for my master's. after that, only the dissertation left! wooo exciting (and scary).

Some of the things I’ve learned over the years

1. You can’t have everything under control, it doesn’t work that way. Life consists of many random factors intersecting with each other; 2. It’s not cool to be late; 3. Don't be ashamed of your clothes or your family's financial state; 4. You can’t help a person if s/he doesn’t want to be helped; 5. “No” is a complete sentence; 6. Try to do your school tasks on time and prepare for it in advance; 7. The hardest thing is to start. The further, the easier it is; 8. Stop trying to make everyone like you; 9. Everything has a beginning and an end. We have much less time than we think; 10. No one has the right answers how to live this life, we're all just trying.
