Few field studies of Stunptail Macaques have been conducted, so little is known of their social organization in the wild.

Stealing records from a mental hospital?: Archives in the "Joker" [Part 2]
Continued from part 1
In Joker, Fleck talks with the unnamed records clerk (played by Brian Tyree Henry) who works at the mental hospital, a Black man named Carl, who is shown hauling out records, while behind a metal grate, symbolizing a division between those who can access records and those who can't. We first see him looking through the box:

Look at those Hollinger boxes and other document boxes! I used both when I worked at NARA as an intern back in 2019 as part of a field study
Reprinted from my Wading Through the Cultural Stacks WordPress blog. Originally published on Dec. 5, 2020.
He continues to talk to Fleck as he continues his searching, and he gets the file and holds it in his hand! I liked that part of course.

He begins reading the file to Fleck, who still wants a copy of it, but this clerk isn't going to budge without the right paperwork! He also warns Fleck about the content inside, saying he wouldn't want to read it, as it is deeply disturbing anyway. This reminds me of what the archivists in Lore Olympus, the Fates, said to Hades. In the latter case, at least he was able to convince them to waive the rules. Fleck won't put up with that, as he will do anything to learn about his past, so he straight-up grabs the file, beginning a tug-of-war:

every time i recommend a book on palestine or israel by an israeli author i get mad all over again about how much the field is literally dominated by them. like israeli institutions literally have the monopoly on studies of palestine that even critiques of israeli nationalism and zionism come from the israeli side. because of the occupation, their institutions deny resources to palestinian scholars and institutions by using them themselves, thus maintaining the monopoly and controlling the narrative. this means that palestinian scholars are often forced to submit to the racist zionist policies of israeli universities if they want their research funded. the fact that they allow critical perspectives means that they are so secure in their power they don't view them as a threat, cos they know that the scholars need them for their resources, which means they get to set the terms and hold these resources over ppls heads, and they have the power to cut ppl off immediately if they step out of line. see what happened to nadera shalhoub kevorkian at the hebrew university last year. this is why the academic boycott is so important.

Drawings of some mushrooms I saw on a mushroom tour at Hidden Villa.
My sister was interested in this small class and invited me. Afterwards we hiked a difficult and steep (not for her) Toyola trail.

I have this TAZ Balance modern AU in my head that I'll never write, but that's okay, because there's literally only two things that you need to know about it:
Kravitz and Barry both have graduate degrees
Barry and Kravitz are not using their graduate degrees even a little bit in their current career, which is running a really shitty, scam-adjacent ghost-busting business out of a garage together
