NAPA will represent Portugal with their song "Deslocado" at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025.

The band used to be called Men On The Couch, and they recorded their first album in 2019. The band toured nationally for the first time in 2024, with many sold out shows.

I have never been so stressed with a song pick for Eurovision.

I was certain Fernando was going to win because of his fanbase, but Napa got the trophy in the end.

I really like the song because it speaks to a lot of people who had to move away from home. It's gonna do numbers here on the radio.

But if it goes through to the final in Eurovision, it's already a win in my books.

UPDATE: Festival da Canção Semi-Final 2

To begin, apologies for getting this out so late. I was having a ton of internet issues it wasn't great. But now, let's talk about Portugal.

They held the second semi of the National Final, and next week, we make a selection. So, today, we have the songs that still stand a chance at representing Portugal.

The qualifiers joining the qualifiers from the first semi are:

29. POLAND I know it's a fan favourite, but it didn't become an earworm for me, sorry.

28. GERMANY My low rating is mostly based on the performance I saw at Chefsache ESC: senseless, weird staging and subpar vocals (but she was sick, so I hope she will improve from here to May).

27. DENMARK Many say that this year Denmark will break the streak of NQ. but I don't understand how they can do it with this song. And it's another one with a staging to burn and redo from the foundations, it has nothing to do with the meaning of the song.

26. BELGIUM When it came out I liked it, but over time it has gradually lost its charm. Also I think that at the end he shouts too much.

25. AZERBAIJAN It sounds like other songs already heard, there is no wow effect, but it’s catchy and cute. Good luck, Mamagama.

24. MONTENEGRO Instead this song has gradually grown in my preferences. If you bring a dark and dramatic ballad, you have to put pathos and resolution, and that’s exactly what Nina Žižić does.

23. PORTUGAL I don't understand why people think this song is DOA. Maybe it isn’t the best that the Festival da Canção had to offer this year, but it’s a song that reflects Portuguese culture. Eurovision is also this: bringing something from your country to the competition.

22. LUXEMBOURG A song that, beyond the cheerful and light melody, has a double meaning in the lyrics and a reference to the 1965 Luxembourg song. It’s a hymn to taking ownership of one's own spaces and not being manipulated by others like a puppet.

21. IRELAND Definitely a step back from Bambie Thug. I don't mind the song, but I would see it more suitable as an anime opening than as a contest entry.

20. NORWAY Look, I know it's a favourite, but in my opinion this song is banal and not exceptional.

Eurovision Fact #736:

Portugal will once again be using Festival da Canção to select it's Eurovision entry for 2025. The window for submissions opened August 14th, and will close on October 15th.

20 contestants will compete, but 14 of those artists will haven been hand picked by broadcaster RTP, while the rest will be selected from the online submission portal.

Estou a ver a segunda semi-final sem ter visto a primeira. Terá sido melhor? É que até ver, isto está fraquito...

Gostei do toque tradicional português no feminino da "A Cantadeira", ainda que senti que a música precisava que a voz dela não fosse tão suave.

Os Bombazine foram animados e com bom groove, mas soam igual a tudo aquilo que se ouve ultimamente.

Ainda não ouvi a música, mas, honestamente, já estou farta do Fernando Daniel....

Estou curiosa por ouvir a ultima música.
