June 10 - St Augustine, Florida
Another hot, but beautiful day. We have been lucky so far with the weather. I hope it doesn’t change as I want to go to the beach in Florida!
Today we drive about 1/2 hour to Fernandina, a town in Amelia Island. One of our guide told us that Cumberland would look like Amelia if allowed to develop. This island has nice beach, many hotels, apartments and GOLF courses! It can’t believe people were playing golf. We stopped at Seaside beach to take a look. Vehicles are required to have 4WD as they park directly on the sand. There are some parking places on the streets though. The beaches are planted with some some of vegetation to keep the dunes in place.
Next we stopped in Fernandina Historic Center. It is a cute town, with shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors, etc. Pirates seem to be a favorite here as we saw a few statues outside the shops. We had a turkey sandwich at a deli run by an old Vietnamese woman. Very delicious salad with strawberries as well.

March 22 - Our short stay in Fernandina ends this morning. Molly D arrived late Monday afternoon. It was a long trip from St Augustine! Yesterday brought high winds, cool temps and a bouncy time at the dock. David and I took an Uber to the Publix to get some items that we had run out of since leaving Vero Beach. Always happy to have a good grocery store nearby! David and I started preparing for the trip to Charleston. The water tank was topped off. The aft and side sections of the cockpit enclosure were put back on. We really needed the additional enclosure pieces for the trip from St Augustine, but we hadn’t thought to put them on. Anyway, we are now more protected from wind and weather than we were before. Molly D is on the outside face dock at the marina, exposing us to the wave action more than the boats on the inside.

Fernandina, as I have stated before, is a cute town. The streets have a historic vibe to them as well as a Nantucket type charm. Many of the shops are high end, but there are the typical tourist trap shops, ice cream shops, antique shops (I use this term loosely), and candy shops sprinkled in. There are also many fine restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Fernandina has a two track freight rail line along its waterfront. The freight train line terminates at one of the two paper mills in town and makes several runs a day. The paper mills (one at each end of the marina) are not good neighbors. If the wind blows the wrong way, the marina and the waterfront are inundated with the smell from the manufacturing process. Not good.

Last night we had supper with our friends, Dennis and Sharon who are from our home marina. We ate at a local pizza restaurant and the pizza was excellent! Due to a waitstaff mixup, our friends each got a 16” pizza instead of the 12” they had ordered. Needless to say, they will have leftover pizza for several days.
Molly D plans on leaving Fernandina around 11. We have to time our trip so that we don’t arrive in Charleston before our marina slip is ready. If we are too early, there really isn’t a place for us to “hang out” until it is. Molly D will arrive in Charleston 22-24 hours after leaving Fernandina. The trip is about 160 miles. We will be traveling 10 miles or so offshore. We will pass by the busy shipping ports of Savannah and Brunswick. I am hoping that we will get by at least one of those ports during daylight hours when we can see the ships entering and leaving the port. Overnight, offshore travel is not my favorite but I will make it through the journey!

Amelia Island tops list of hidden gems of Florida Beauty, history and a bounty of activities are some of the many attractions of the destination
Tumblr media
Relax at one of many firepits at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island.
While writing this column an ad appeared on the television – flaunting a beautiful beach vacation, palm trees and all. Here in the northeast, it is a dark and damp mid- February evening. Yes, winter has been good to us this year, at least so far. That said, it is time for my Annual Hidden Gems of Florida feature. We all know about Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando. My goal is to seek out those areas of Florida that perhaps aren’t as well-known but have the beauty, history, activities both on and off the beach and water, events, ambiance, weather, and – of course – food that makes for a Florida vacation to remember, and visit again and again.
Amelia Island, Florida’s northernmost island, is the southernmost in a chain of tidal, barrier islands called the Sea Islands, that begins with Murphy Island, the northernmost of the chain, in South Carolina.  With the low-key vibe of Key West-meets-the southern-charm-of Charleston and Savannah, Amelia Island has a flavor and personality that belongs distinctly to its location and long, storied history. It has been governed and occupied by the French Spanish, French, British, and the United States, and Native Americans, who had a strong presence until the earliest European settlements began early in the 18th century.  I was taken aback by how at home and comfortable I immediately felt, as I strolled downtown Fernandina Beach on Center Street, and along the working port along the Amelia River.  There is something inviting and enticing about the streets, shops, restaurants, architecture, and atmosphere in this welcoming island community.  It didn’t take me long to arrive at the thought that this is a place I will be returning to again and again.
On a recent trip, I split my stay between a beach resort, The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island https://bit.ly/3Zi1rfr and The Addison On Amelia Island https://addisononamelia.com/ , a  14- room bed and breakfast located in historic Fernandina Beach, on the northern half on Amelia Island.

The first two days were spent at the Ritz-Carlton; quite an oasis for a retreat from the daily hustle and bustle of life. Once the car was parked, it didn’t move until checkout. So much to do and see on property… the stunning, dune-lined beachfront, golf, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools, luxurious spa, several restaurants, and cocktail lounges. The resort’s naturalist led a tour where we explored coastal habitats and observed island wildlife. There was an unprecedented humpback whale sighting during our invigorating, morning walk. S’mores and hot chocolate on the dunes beside a bonfire – under the stars… what an enchanting way to spend an evening. And talk about relaxing, the guestroom was a retreat, complete with a gas firepit on the ground-level patio overlooking the dunes and Atlantic coastline.
A unique amenity at the resort is “First Call” where guests convene at the Lobby Bar and sip on the day’s bourbon, infused with the mixologists’ ever-changing recipes. During the day, I observed how the spirit steeps in fruit, herbs, and aromatics. If you want to make sure you get to purchase a pour from the small batch of the elixir, arrive when the bartender removes the flask from the beautiful cabinet. Once it is gone, it’s gone for that day.

The description on the menu of the spa treatment that was suggested was intriguing and I pictured what the results would feel and look like. “Ocean Healing summons the restorative properties of the sea. A therapeutic bath stimulates circulation in preparation for a vigorous sea salt exfoliation. Soft, glowing, youthful skin is revealed followed by a warm salt stone massage instilling deep relaxation.” Every word of this description came to life. Weeks later I still felt the “energy” of the experience.
After the treatment, lunch was ordered from Coquina, and enjoyed at the co-ed relaxation area of the spa.  At the restaurant you’ll dine al-fresco, poolside, where the menu highlights seafood and creations inspired by Amelia’s time as a Territory of Spain. I was in a shrimp mood, so I ordered the Mayport Shrimp Cocktail, and from the Taqueria section, Shrimp Al Ajillo served with arugula and a lite creamy lime sauce that allowed the shrimp to shine.
The crème de la crème of the culinary experience at the Ritz Carlton was dinner at the AAA Five Diamond restaurant, Salt. I was fortunate enough to meet Chef Okan Kizilbayir, the evening before he was traveling to participate in the Cayman Islands Cookout, hosted by Eric Ripert with whom Chef Okan has worked, for over a dozen years.
Chef explained, “at Salt, earth and sea are celebrated in the signature seafood restaurant where food is carefully seasoned and artfully presented. More than 40salts from around the world are used, adding depth to the dishes.”
I began with an exquisite, pasta dish prepared with tagliatelle, mushrooms and truffle butter. The entrée, halibut, baked to perfection with a sauce of clams and corn mariniere – beyond delicious and inspired. The sweet ending – a creative take on baklava, sort of a deconstructed version made with pistachio and goat cheese creameux, accompanied with crème fraiche ice cream. Even the bread service is executed with perfection; the butter is served alongside three house made salts. My favorite, the citrus salt, made with Adriatic Sea salt, dehydrated orange, lemon, and lime zest. The perfectly crusted bread is deserving of the toppings. Wine connoisseurs won’t be disappointed with the extensive wine list.  The chef’s five course tasting menu with optional wine pairing makes for an unforgettable, celebratory dinner.  Salt is a must – experience during a visit to the island.
Tumblr media

Coast, a casual restaurant at the resort is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here is where I opted for the “Amelia Breakfast Station” rather than the ala carte menu. This gave me the opportunity to enjoy a plethora of items; seasonal fruits, breads, pastries, smoked salmon, eggs, pancakes, breakfast meats, charcuterie, omelet station, and let’s not forget those renown sticky buns…. you won’t be able to eat just one.
If you partake in “First Call,” you might decide, as did I, to stay for dinner at Lobby Bar, where sushi and other delectable bites are served.  It has sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, too. The appetizer, edamame, is steamed and spiced with just enough chile de Arbol salt. Wakame salad is a favorite, and theirs was so fresh and flavorful. The sweet and spicy wings are plump, with plenty of meat on the bones to savor. Dessert was a difficult choice, key lime tart or apple butter cheesecake. In Ritz Carlton style, the server brought out both, although I ordered the tart. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the Fernandina Roll (shrimp tempura, cucumber, seared spicy tuna, wasabi mayo, sriracha, and a crunchy topping) will wake up the palate.  Sake fans have eight choices to savor.  The signature cocktail is the Smoked Old Fashioned.
My stay at the Ritz- Carlton Amelia Island came to an end, and I was now looking forward to experiencing historic Fernandina Beach, as well as my stay at the well-respected – The Addison on Amelia Island. The inn’s three Antebellum-style buildings surround a courtyard, fountain, and charming gardens. Owners, Lisa and Ron West, welcome their guests each evening to the veranda, overlooking the courtyard where guests can mingle and enjoy complimentary wine and beer. A lovely, homemade breakfast is served in the dining room or on the veranda. By the way, Lisa hails from Philadelphia, and looks forward to catching up on what’s going on in her hometown when you visit. A block away on Center Street, are many restaurants, boutiques, shops, museums and galleries. The inn offers complimentary bikes to explore Fort Clinch and/or Eagan’s Creek. Lisa said, “the inn blends the elegance of a bygone era with the modern amenities and conveniences the discriminating traveler expects.” On Saturday’s she can be found at the farmer’s market shopping for fresh produce to serve at breakfast. She and Ron pick fresh herbs from the garden to use in recipes. Watch my interview with Lisa here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOIs2pn2qUk

I couldn’t ask for better hosts who are so enthusiastic about the area. Their recommendations of what to see and where to eat made it easy to explore the area.  Lisa and Ron were pleased to provide the recipe below for one of the breakfasts I enjoyed. For the recipe for the hash brown muffins, go to  https://bit.ly/3kq02o0
The innkeepers as well as locals I met said I must eat at Timoti’s Seafood Shak  www.timotis.com Nothing fancy, place your order at the window counter and dine outside in a relaxed atmosphere. The fish is delivered daily from local fishermen. The seafood stew, chock full of fish in a tomato base is superb. Popular are shrimp, oysters, clams, lobster rolls and fish tacos. Fish can be prepared blackened, grilled or fried, your choice. The key lime icebox cup is amazing, made with whipped cream, cream cheese, lime juice and zest, orange zest, ginger snaps, pretzels and rolled oats.

Dinner one evening was at Amelia Island Brewing Company www.ameliaislandbrewing.com. The restaurant showcases the brewery through floor to ceiling windows. The menu is several steps above your typical pub grub. I started with the Southwest Shrimp Chowder prepared with corn and poblano pepper topped with crispy tortilla strips. The chef spiced it perfectly. The Reuben on rye bread was piled high with pastrami, topped with Swiss cheese, beer braised sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing. The buffalo mac n’ cheese is served with plenty of crispy chicken pieces atop a creamy sauce with a velvety consistency. The dessert was one of the most unique I’ve ever had; waffle sweet potato fries tossed in cinnamon sugar and topped with ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. Beyond delightful for my sweet tooth cravings.
Tumblr media
Enjoy a flight of beer and casual fare at Amelia Island Brewing Company.
If you enjoy Italian food as I do, dine at Ciao www.ciaoitalianeatery.net. The mozzarella lollipop is a play on Caprese salad. Bocconcini mozzarella, cherry tomato and basil are skewered and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Shrimp and scallops diavolo had a generous portion of fresh shrimp and scallops in a spicy white wine and tomato sauce over angel hair pasta. The ricotta cheesecake for dessert was not overly rich and paired well with cappuccino.  It’s like nonna would bake.

So many people suggested that I must experience  España Restaurant & Tapas https://bit.ly/3keRL6A before leaving town. Featuring the flavors of Spain and Portugal, they are known for paella, so what to order was a cinch. They use the freshest of fish and shellfish and herbs, many grown in their garden. Dining in the lush garden while sipping on homemade Sangria was delightful. To stay with the traditional Spanish fare, for dessert it had to be flan.

España Restaurant & Tapas is known for their paella.
No trip is complete for me without a visit to a neighborhood bookstore to check out  books about the area and  cookbooks by local authors and chefs. Story & Song Bookstore Bistro www.storyandsongbookstore.com , owned by Mark and Donna Kaufman, made me feel as if I were a kid in a candy store. The two-story shop has displays that entice you to look further. With greeting cards and a well-curated gift selection, you’re bound to find a gift for yourself or someone special.  Before or after shopping, have lunch on the patio. During my stay I was lucky to catch an author event. Deborah Goodrich Royce, author of Reef Road, spoke about her new book while the audience enjoyed lunch from the bistro.

“Amelia Island’s Happy Places: The Insiders’ Guide” was published by the shop. The crew at Story & Song contributed vignettes  about  their “happy places” on the island along with local photographers providing images of magical moments on Amelia. A treasure to read before and after a visit. Watch my interview with Donna and Mark here https://bit.ly/3ExITQi
History buff or not, a visit to American Beach and the A.L. Lewis Museum and Amelia Museum are musts.
The mission of the A.L. Lewis Museum www.ALLewisMuseum.org is “to document and interpret the rich tradition and legacy of African Americans’ ingenuity, perseverance and achievements. Through our exhibits and programs, we honor African Americans as agents of change in the development of African-American and American society.”
Housed in the historic Nassau County jail, the Amelia Island Museum of History www.ameliaMuseum.org showcases Amelia’s thousands of years of history including the birthplace of the shrimping industry.
Come visit Amelia Island. I think you’ll agree it is a Hidden Gem of Florida.

Why Homeowners Opt for Vinyl Siding in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, FL
There is a reason why homeowners opt to install siding for their properties. It is installed on the outside walls to protect the property by keeping the elements out. Siding helps create a water-tight barrier on the outside and keeps the rain, snow, and harsh winds from entering the house. It is also helpful in preventing dirt, dust, and insects from entering the house. There are various types of siding that a homeowner can consider. One can opt for either wood, fiber, or vinyl siding as per their preference. Of all three, vinyl siding is much in vogue nowadays because of its many benefits. The installation of the siding, however, needs to be correct to avoid damage. It also plays an essential role in improving the property's curb appeal.    Benefits of Vinyl Siding    Following are some of the advantages of installing vinyl siding:    Enhances the curb appeal of the house- Vinyl siding plays a significant role in enhancing the curb appeal of the property. The panels look beautiful up close and even from far away. It won't peel, chip, flake, or show scratches.    There is no change in color- One plus point of vinyl siding in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, FL, is the color does not fade over time. Vinyl siding is available in various colors. At the same time, vinyl siding is available in varied styles, textures, shapes, and trims, making it suitable for every homeowner.   Vinyl Siding is durable- No homeowner wants to make repeated investments in siding. Choosing vinyl siding will go a long way because it is strong and durable. It is dent-resistant and not affected by harsh weather conditions such as cold, wind, moisture, and heat. Homeowners don't need to worry about rotting, splitting, or warping.    No worries about maintenance- Vinyl siding takes away the hassle and pain of maintenance. The low maintenance of the siding makes it a favorite among homeowners. It does not require scraping and painting to keep up the appearance. Simply rinsing the siding with water to clean the accumulated dust and debris is enough.    Resistance to mold and mildew- As much as window installation in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, FL, has to be flawless, the same has to be the vinyl siding. According to experts, the right installation allows moisture to escape, preventing mold and mildew formation.    Ease of installation- The ease of installation is another plus point for opting for vinyl siding. Vinyl siding is lightweight and hence very easy to install. Plus, the labor costs are minimal.    Environment friendly- Every homeowner wants to invest in something that has a low environmental impact. Vinyl siding is one of them. With a larger lifecycle, it has a low environmental impact. It can also be recycled when scraped.    Vinyl siding is considered a wise investment in improving the property and securing the same. It carries warranties and comes with a high return on investment. With low maintenance and installation costs, homeowners can reap the most from this installation. It can improve the curb appeal significantly and also secure the property.

* you know rina benton-moa, right? they’re twenty-four, and they’ve lived in irving for, like, their whole life on and off? well, their spotify wrapped says they listened to reinvent by phoebe green like, a million times this year, which makes sense ‘cause they’ve got that whole fury encased by the reflection of daylight in the eyes; lines etched into skin from lifetimes over of squinting into midsummer skies, odd trinkets lined carelessly along a mantlepiece shrouded by aged dust, a split in the lip lancing keenly as the tongue darts out to wet it thing going on. i just checked and their birthday is july 15th, so they’re a cancer, which is unsurprising, all things considered.
hi i’m cee .. u all know me...... regrettably gone for a cutla weeks but now i’m back ready n waiting to finally write rina (rip to their intro i never wrote last time around) kisses u all so tenderly let us plot shall we.......
AESTHETICS.
a weather-worn baseball cap ( jacksonville jazz festival 1983 ) adorned with dried sweat akin to the rings of saturn that collects dust on the back seat of a car, neglected piles of unopened government letters spilling from a haphazard tower onto the floor, a moth-eaten cotton shirt, johnny cash at four a.m. on the jukebox hits radio station, hand me down trainers marred by crowsfoot grass stains, dollar store candy older than your own existence, blinking grocery store fluorescent lights, the acrid scent of tyres set aflame.
CHARA INSPO.
frankie ( animal kingdom ), theo ( catherine house ), libby bray ( dark places ), frances ( conversations with friends ), ruth ( ozark ), tommy ( never let me go )
BACKGROUND.
lilac ridge’s newest, unwelcome baby for 1997. rina’s mother is gone before they have the chance to memorise a voice, the touch of a hand on their fever-ridden forehead. she forever remains in old polaroids - their parents look happy here, sun-blushed and clutching amber bottles of schlitz. their dad tries and tries, often in a futile effort, to be the parent an unruly rina needs. that old woman in the trailer next to them hates the saturday morning cartoons that they play too loud: she says the catdog theme loops in her sleep, now.
TW NEGLECT despite the one or two friends rina manages to keep, school isn’t lonely. it’s lilac ridge that’s hollow, an ugly reflection of the way their father returns wordlessly to the chair found on hard rubbish collection day once, gesturing for a drink and waving them out of the trailer as he lights a cigarette. he doesn’t say he’s lonely. they’re too young to understand, or too foolhardy, and spends the afternoon fashioning bracelets from creek reeds until the cicadas quiet and the evening sky turns imperial violet, led back by constellations. some nights, rina isn’t there but in the alien comfort of a tentative friend’s trundle bed, eyes fixed on the owl nightlight and stereo that emits a soft tick as it reaches the end of a 4kids cd. TW END
the trailer is often empty without warning. rina’s in fernandina beach, florida one month. the next two, it is macon, georgia. the louisiana dirge for a friend of a friend of a friend’s funeral holds their attention better than any maths teacher can. to make friends is hard, but money is money and it puts food on the table. rina becomes used to tucking away their life in a tattered rucksack. prized possessions are rare. when they find one, it makes a home at the very bottom of their bag, cushioned by old newspaper and a spare pair of socks.
one tepid night, rina wakes to a clear desert sky wheeling above them. in the front seat, knees cramped under a too-thin blanket, their father is nowhere to be found in the street emptied by midnight. without keys the radio doesn’t start. for hours, they wait in silence for him to return. he does, eventually, fifty dollars short and reeking of beer.
TW DEATH live and let die — an eighty-cent find from a gas station in texas that exists permanently under a layer of dust some time in the nineties, the garish yellow sticker stubbornly remains on the back window of her father’s car. it’s not a day after his funeral that she peels it off. cirrhosis and failing lungs, they say. the more stubborn parts of the sticker come away easily by the blade of a pocket knife and sat on the bottom cinder block step to the now-empty trailer back at lilac ridge, rina sets it alight. the sticker melts and warps above the flame. heat stings the pad of their thumb that grips to the top of it for as long as they can bear it and the melted bits stick to the hem of the navy dress the old lady next door lent them for the day. she asks if they need anything else. they say no. TW END
at sixteen, nobody has impeccable financing. rina doesn’t leave irving until after graduating high school, sustenance made off cup noodles that they microwave despite the label saying not to, a quick buck made to sit the SAT for that quarterback who thinks he’s hot shit, yale material, for the mousy girl who likes literature written by dead people exclusively and scrunches her nose up at rina’s rates, upfront, but pushes across the seventy bucks anyway. the school’s careers counsellor catches them eventually - you could make it into an ivy league if you applied yourself a bit more. rina’s brow quirks. their grades are fine, more than fine. what else do they need to do?
on blind faith alone — a rarity, perhaps something rina let free after the hideous, lonely last two years — hands that never quiver submit college applications. pre-med at dartmouth awaits, but two years in the structure and demand wigs them out. lilac ridge is the glue trap dangling from the ceiling and rina is the fly, buzzing relentlessly. they are nothing, just as they suspected.
TRAITS & QUIRKS.
dumbass sun, fuckwit moon, muppet rising
unofficial mensa member with zero motivation. self-help books won’t work, neither will a stern word from an exasperated mentor
at their core, all seems numb. rina is nowhere close to understanding themselves. really, there’s a stubbornness that makes them reliable, even at the worst of times. a warmth, too, not a raging flame but embers that never go cold. hands which caress despite the bruised knuckles and nail bitten fingertips. outwardly, rina’s personality depends on whichever standout film or book antihero has their attention at the time.
petty criminal and relegated to dead-end jobs because of it. it’s rare for a boss to re-hire them, simply because their habit of up and leaving town without warning is too expensive and too frustrating
refused bail once for being a flight risk on account of their propensity to disappear into a louisiana bayou
although rina has never breathed a word of it to anyone, they’re desperate to scrape together enough money to leave for new zealand and track down their mother’s family, if only for the prospect of a better life than thier father’s derelict trailer, the only inheritance received from him
absolute parasite :/
julian assange apologist. took up skateboarding after the infamous ecuadorian embassy footage came on the news one evening
on that note, rina hacks for a spot of extra money. cites their resume for it, so they’re reliable. it consists of them hacking into the irving mayor’s website once and photoshopping che guevara onto the face of every councillor
WANTED PLOTS.
ummmmm
a childhood friend, particularly one whose house rina ended up staying at far longer than planned on account of concerned parents
rina’s natural enemy whose own rigid academics competed against their disorganisation and confounding, cherry red a+’s. bonus: debate club rivals
literally anything. i’ll take it. gimme

The cost will vary depending on the extent of damage and the kind of repair required. We suggest that you should ask the roofing contractors Perth without further delay. It will be a bit difficult to stay in the house with the roofing work going on. So you need to shift to somewhere else for the time being.
If you have relatives in the city you can shift there or you have to move in to a hotel. No matter wherever you shift, make sure to visit your house daily in order to keep a tab on the extent of work done. Your frequent visits will put pressure on the roofing contractors Perth to finish the work on time. If you ignore visiting the house while the work is going on, the contractors will start to relax and will delay the entire process.Ideally you should opt for roofing services at least once a year.
The immediate problems can be tended to as and when they appear but otherwise annual cleaning and maintenance of your roof is a must. Don't forget that it is because of the roof that your house remains well insulated in the different seasons. In fact, it is the roof that protects your property and all its residents from excess heat, rain, snow and all other changes in the weather.

Why To Go For New Siding Installation in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, FL
It is wrong to think that a house does not need to be looked after. It might have been built sturdily, but it will require maintenance over time, and some things will require replacement. Giving the house a fresh coat of paint, repairing the roof, or changing doors and replacement windows in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, FL, is some of the must-do in the list of every homeowner. Another thing that also requires attention and might need to be changed is the siding.   The importance of siding is not unknown to any homeowner. To be precise, siding plays a significant role in protecting the property against harsh weather conditions. Snow, rain, or strong winds can ruin the siding. This can lead to an uncomfortable environment inside the house. A properly installed siding helps to keep the interior comfortable from the cold weather during the winter. It retains the heat inside, keeping one comfortable. When the siding starts to fall apart, water and moisture can find their way inside one's home, leading to wood rot, mold growth, and other damages.   It is essential, therefore, to find the signs of failing siding and opt for new siding installation in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville, FL. Homeowners need to look out for rotting or peeling siding, discoloration, warping, and tiny holes or bubbling paint. A new siding installation might not be in the budget, but if these signs occur, then there is no way that it can wait.   Benefits of a new siding installation   The following are the benefits of a new siding installation:   Enhances the property's appearance- It is one of the first reasons for considering a new siding installation. No homeowner would want their property to appear ugly on the outside. A new siding will not only enhance the property's appearance, but siding materials meant to resist degradation from the harsh UV rays can also keep the property looking good longer.   Makes the property more energy-efficient- Proper siding installation makes the property more energy-efficient. The house does not lose warmth in the cold seasons, and it keeps the heat from coming in during summer. Insulating the siding seals air leakage, making the property more energy efficient. This puts less pressure on the HVAC unit, keeping the energy bills down as well.   Strengthens the structure- When the old siding starts to fall off, water and moisture can seep into the house, causing wood rot, water pools in the window sills, and mold growth. A new siding installation would protect the property from the elements and strengthen the structure.   Boost resale value- Installing a new siding is an affordable remodeling solution that can help add value to the property and ensure a high return on investment.   Guarantees long-term protection- When the siding begins to fall apart, it can negatively impact the property in every way. With new siding, the property gets a new life and added benefits. It stays protected for a very long time and makes it a favorable property in the real estate market. A new siding hence brings a good number of benefits. It is hard to overlook when the signs of damage show; it is better to get a professional to look at the same.
