Your breathing was the only thing you could hear in the silence of the night.

The cold air nipped at your naked body seeping into your bones till you were shivering lips tinted an unnatural shade of blue. Unshed tears stayed frozen over in your eyes as ropes bit into your wrists and ankles keeping you bound to the crude wooden structure haphazardly staked into the soil beneath your bruised knees. Clothes had been ripped from your body leaving you in nothing but your undergarments.

You knew this was coming. It was only a matter of time before you were taken dragged from your bed to be the next victim in a string of unsuccessful sacrifices to an unknown beast that tormented the village from the safety of the forest. You were nothing more than a gift to be sent to an unknown deity with an unrelenting habit of seemingly senseless violence.

The entirety of your body aches sore from being held in the unnatural position your muscles pulled back till they were straining.

Your pains were quickly forgotten when a low almost mechanical noise filled the once silent night causing the hairs on your arms to raise. Dull thuds approached accompanied by the sound of dragging. Gulping down the lump in your throat you squeezed your eyes shut not wishing to see whatever fate you were condemned to. The only thing you prayed for at that moment was a swift death not wishing to suffer.

Warm breath fanned along your face when the creature halted all noises stopping except for deep heavy panting that mingled with your own breath.

Flinching you winced as a bitter rope bit into your limbs as a hand ran through your hair, the gesture surprisingly gentle. Expecting the pain you shook fear pumping through your veins. The pain, much to your shock, never came. Instead, the creature in front of you lifted its heavy blade bringing it down freeing you from your bindings. You brought your tortured wrists into your lap eyes flying wide shooting up to the- woman standing in front of you.

She was nothing like the stories the villagers spewed like venom from their lips. The tales spun by many of the elders depicted an ugly creature that would stalk through the brush spewing toxins that brought nothing but destruction and decay. Only now could you say that description was wrong as the woman in front of you stood in all her glory looking like a goddess.

The soothing fingers running through your hair dipped down the side of your face the Pyramid Helm on her head tilting as she studied you. There's the issue of how to transport it and store it at home, as my room is tiny. So I'm thinking I'm gonna have it dismantle then go back together with strong velcro.

Hello! Thank you so much!! I actually get asked this at every convention I’ve taken Fem!PH to! The gal’s been to about 3 conventions now (Emerald City Comic Con, SakuraCon, and Crypticon) and has about 5 total days worth of wear! She’s holding up pretty well besides getting one of the pipes on the side ripped off be a fellow con goer (he was trying to help me carry it and thought it was a handle) but nothing a sharpie and some hot glue can’t fix!

Haha I built this baby on a starving college budget and just used foam board from the dollar store (13 bucks total with some board left over!) I used that, hot glue from home depot (like 400 degree stuff meant to put everything to everything), then I used duct tape because I am the most professional.

Start with your side panels:

They are going to be what dictate how large the helmet is as a whole. They are also going to be the only way you will see out of the helm.

Ignore the fabric stuff on the left:

So after you cut out your wholes for the panels, I recommend using actual mesh (Again Home Depot is your best friend) You can just use hot glue- like a WHOLE BUNCHA HOT GLUE. Then literally just go to walmart and see thru black decor drapes for like 9 bucks and layer it on the inside of the face of the side panel. IMPORTANT: LAYER IT ABOUT 3 TIMES. THIS WILL GIVE THE BLACK BEHIND THE MESH AFFECT. YOU CAN SEE OUT BUT PEOPLE CAN’T SEE IN. Make sure you attach the back panel portions with tape so it’s bendable like a door. These will not be glued solid until AFTER you put the bike helmet in. Just go to goodwill and get a bicycle helmet for two bucks and make sure it has padding and a strap that goes under your chin. This is so you can keep your helmet on and look all over and have it follow your eyeline.

Then put that shit together!

REMEMBER:

Working with foam board allows you to actually stack up portions and carve them with an Exacto knife and such. (Also the light brown is damp paper bag + rubber cement to fix big seams)

AFTER THAT:

This next step varies dependent on what you want your helmet to look. I wanted a neato texture so I used spray adhesive and tissue paper (This also protects the foam board from absorbing all the paint your gonna have to use)

WHERE TO GET THE PIPES AND GEARS:

Home depot. PVC Pipe section.

TIME FOR SOME COLOR:

Your then gonna wanna mask off the vents on the side and go to town with spray paint.

DO NOT- AND I MEAN DO NOT START WITH BLACK AS YOUR BASE COAT. IT WILL BE THE MOST POINTLESS THING AND WASTE OF PAINT YOU WILL EVER DO IN YOUR FREAKIN LIFE.

I only used a whopping 4 colors on my helm: Black, Warm Brown (Rudy Brown Primer from Kylon), Tractor/Barn freakin Red and a Metallic Silver (pro tip: don’t use sparkly silver, not unless you wanna be super sailor scout pyramid head)

put on the base coat of brown then do a bit of black. DO ALL OF THE BASE PAINT ON YOUR PIPE ADD-ONS SEPERATLY WAIT FOR YOUR HELMET TO DRY AND THEN GLUE THOSE BASTARDS ONTO THE HELMET.

Now Paint however your pretty little heart desires~

DEALING WITH THE DROOPY HEAD PROBLEM:

You’re gonna come to find out that the front of this bastard wants to do everything but stay up and to fix that just put a weight (I have a water bottle filled with water) in the back between between the bike helmet and foam board.
