Record of the Day is Feel the Clamps by Spray Paint
Check out “Feel the Clamps” by Spray Paint for our record of the day. Spray Paint is part of the Goner Records gang. “Feel the Clamps” is the title track from the just released album (June 2016). This is post punk that will blow your mind and leave you wondering what just happened. A mysterious and mind-boggling effect takes over. Mini Review
Spray Paint
‘Feel The Clamps’
Goner
The prolific Spray Paint are back with a new LP 'Feel the Clamps' and the noise is coming with them. The Austin based avant-punks tap into some serious No Age vibes on their new album, making the most of their minimalism.
Menace is certainly an apt descriptor and comes to the forefront on 'Feel the Clamps' and as heard on tracks like "Burn Barrel" and "ATXHC (Dangly Earring)."
The peril continues with "Shoveling" as it lurches forward, all rumble & wit while "Counting Thumbs" doubles down on the gloom while lamenting "She's getting worse / way too skinny / too much coke."
There's a distinct separation on display between Cory Plump (guitar/vocals), George Dishner (guitar/vocals), and Chris Stephenson (drums). Instruments seem to stand alone, yet coalesce making for one nervy listen. Spray Paint get to the point all throughout 'Feel the Clamps' and do so with sheer abrasion and pummeling precision.
