SRH vs MI - when and where to watch, full squad details, venue, most likely playing XIs, Pitch Report
Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians have sort of similar journeys in the IPL season 2023 as each of them have won two matches. The sunrisers Hyderabad who were liked by many as the early season favorite have hit their strides a lot late with the Harry Brook and Aiden Markram impressing with the bat.
Whereas the Mumbai Indians batting unit has been playing brilliant in the last few matches with Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma leading the way. Although they have a decent team but they will stay as underdogs because of their depleted bowling attacks.

[ad_1] Sanju Samson with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in an event (PC: X) Rajasthan Royals went into the auction with a limited purse of Rs 41 crore. On expected lines, RR were cautious during the mega auction in terms of picking up players. They added 14 players to their roster. Jofra Archer, who has previously been one of the mainstays of RR’s attack, is back in the mix. The franchise has also added some punch to their spin-bowling stocks. RR also stumped everyone by picking up the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for Rs 1.10 crore. The young batter had recently cracked a quick-fire ton versus Australia U-19. Incidentally, they had retained six players before the auction – Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma. Hits: Nitish Rana – The southpaw, who has over 2600 runs in the IPL, could form an integral part of RR’s unit. The middle-order batter, however, hasn’t exactly been among the runs over the last few seasons. RR would still trust Nitish to provide heft to their batting line-up, comprising mainly Indian batters. Jofra Archer – The England speedster was in supreme form in the 2020 IPL, bagging 20 wickets. Unfortunately, since then, he has been plagued by elbow and back issues. At his very best, Archer has a mean bumper, alongside possessing the skills to move the ball and bowl yorkers and variations in the slog. Wanindu Hasaranga/Maheesh Theekshana – With RR picking the Sri Lankan duo, they have some firepower in the spin department. Both the spinners have enough variations in their arsenal and generally bowl quicker through the air. The kind of skills that could come in handy at their home ground. Tushar Deshpande/Fazalhaq Farooqi – RR have further strengthened their pace-bowling stocks by buying Deshpande and Farooqi. Deshpande is a wholehearted cricketer and Farooqi is basically RR’s replacement for Trent Boult. The skiddy left-arm pacer swings the bowl upfront. RR also bought the young South African paceman, Kwena Maphaka. Misses: RR perhaps needed one more established power-hitter down the order. It is true that Shimron Hetmyer can give it a mighty thump and has done rather well for the franchise. He also cracked a blistering 91 against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots recently in the CPL. But, somewhere, RR could have bought another finisher. Glenn Phillips was an option. Liam Livingstone also was in the auction list, but with their purse, it was always going to be tough for RR to bid for him. In that respect, RR could be looking towards Shubham Dubey, the left-hander, to showcase his pyrotechnics. Overall Rating – 7/10 RR IPL Squad: Tushar Deshpande, Shubham Dubey, Yudhvir Singh, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kwena Maphaka, Kunal Rathore, Ashok Sharma, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Sandeep Sharma, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya, Nitish Rana The post Some mystery spin and Jofra Archer – RR’s top picks at mega auction appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. Afghans stun New Zealand in Guyana
by Rex Clementine
Afghanistan beating one of the leading cricket playing nations is no more a shock or a surprise. They did so well during the last year’s World Cup in India and they are doing it again in this T-20 World Cup. It was New Zealand’s turn to surrender at their hands this time as they crashed to a heavy 84 run win. Wonder who’s next in their hit list.
A win next week over Papua New Guinea is enough for Afghanistan to go to the second round as they have a very healthy Net Run Rate of 5:22. That means hosts West Indies and New Zealand will battle it out for the remaining spot.
Spin used to be Afghanistan’s strength but nowadays their pace is doing the job as well.
Left-arm quick Fazalhaq Farooqi ripped through the New Zealand top order before Rashid Khan spun his magic. Both bowlers finished with four wickets apiece as Afghanistan shot out New Zealand for 75 inside 16 overs.
Afghanistan under former England batter Jonathan Trott have got the perfect blueprint for T-20 cricket. They only managed 55 runs in the first ten overs. Their batters didn’t get rattled trying to score quick runs. They knew acceleration can happen in the death overs as long as they had wickets in hand. That’s exactly what they did as 109 runs came in the last ten overs.
Opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz batted through the innings before being dismissed in the last over to post 80 while adding 103 runs for the first wicket with Ibrahim Zadran (44).
Azmatullah Omarzai chipped in with 22 runs in 13 balls, The rest of the batters sacrificed their wickets unselfishly going for big hits as Afghanistan tried to get the maximum. With that kind of team effort Afghanistan can go a long way in the tournament.
New Zealand batting was in such a disarray that only two of their batters got double figures. It’s their fourth lowest total in T-20 Internationals.

IPL 2024: SRH, RR Face-Off To Seal Final Date Against Kolkata Knight Riders
Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will lock horns against Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Qualifier 2 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have already reached the final of the 17th season of the IPL, and whichever franchise wins today's match will lock horns against the Kolkata-based franchise at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
The Hyderabad-based franchise is in their top form in the IPL 2024 and etched their name on the record book by breaching the highest team total in the IPL three times this season. Earlier, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) 263/5 in the 2013 season which held the landmark of the highest team total in the history of the IPL.
With the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in the top batting order, SRH have successfully entered the T20 tournament with an aggressive approach. They are the only side to score 100 or more runs in the powerplay this season.
The Rajasthan-based franchise started the season on a good note and kept a four-match winning streak two times in the tournament. However, as time passed and we came into the second half of the IPL 2024, the Royals started to maintain their consistency. In May, RR's first win came in the Eliminator round when they beat RCB to book their place in the Qualifier 2 match.
The Royals don't have a destructive batting lineup as compared to the Sunrisers but they have a fiery bowling attack with the likes of Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Nandre Burger, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The Qualifier 2 match will be an interesting clash as the best bowling attack will take on a destructive batting lineup to book their place in the final match of the IPL 2024.
Hyderabad finished the league stage of the T20 tournament in second place with 17 points and a net run rate of +0.414 after winning 8 of 14 matches. While the Rajasthan concluded their league matches in third place with 17 points and a net run rate of +0.273 after winning 8 of 14 matches.
The Royals are coming into today's match after beating RCB by four wickets in the Eliminator round of the IPL
2024. On the other hand, SRH conceded an 8-wicket loss against KKR in the Qualifier 1 match of the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals Squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sanju Samson (Wk/C), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shimron Hetmyer, Nandre Burger, Shubham Dubey, Tanush Kotian, Donovan Ferreira, Navdeep Saini, Keshav Maharaj, Kuldeep Sen, Abid Mushtaq, Kunal Singh Rathore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen (Wk), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (C), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, T Natarajan, Sanvir Singh, Umran Malik, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Agarwal, Aiden Markram, Anmolpreet Singh, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Markande, Jhatavedh Subramanyan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Akash Maharaj Singh.

Bangladesh’s cricketers are utilizing the facilities of the same hotel in Dhaka as the Australians, observing Alisa Healy closely, and gathering crucial information about how one of the world’s best conducts her business.
Australia is in town for three limited-overs One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 series starting Thursday, and their arrival has stirred excitement.
Bangladesh skipper Negar Sultana said, “They are icons of the game so our players are eager to meet them
“Our players are already heading to their table for breakfast. This communication is crucial for team building. We see them as role models, so playing with them is a huge gain.”
This is Australia’s women’s team’s first bilateral tour to Bangladesh, so there is extensive interest among fans and media starting from players. Hilli, the opposite number, said they also want to learn from Bangladeshi players, especially considering the conditions they may face on this tour and with the T20 World Cup scheduled here at the end of the year.
I am truly proud of this team, who take playing as a bigger responsibility,” said Hillis
“It doesn’t just go one way, but there’s an opportunity to learn from both sides. Let’s talk about the game in general. To gain some crucial experiences, and it’s not just for their side.”
I think it goes both ways. The girls are genuinely excited to be part of this series.” I hope those conversations will be there. I had a chat around the toaster at breakfast today, so much more to look forward to.”
Fatigue is something that has touched Hilli, as some Australian players are just coming off the back of the recently concluded WPL in India, where they were busy with national commitments. “I think there’s a different level of battery power around our group at the moment,” she said. “I think it’s part of modern cricket. That’s exactly what’s happening down the line. Managing playing around the globe for 12 months and managing those expectations is becoming a real challenge.”
We’ve got Tala Vlamink back in our squad after a long time. Sophie Molineux has returned to the group
There’s plenty to look forward to. If you feel a bit exhausted, there are some players here who are absolutely smashing it as Australians, ruining their interior straight away. The group is genuinely excited being here and excited to play as Australians again, which I think is the tip.”
In this regard, Sultana mentioned their bowling as their strength against Australia. She also highlighted the big picture of playing at home against Australia. In the last 12 months, Bangladesh has been quite competitive, particularly closing the series against India with two white-ball series victories. They won a T20 series and an ODI series against Pakistan and also won two matches in South Africa.
In Nottinghamshire, Ben Lister and Fazalhaq Farooqi have been signed to replace Shahin Shah Afridi
Nottinghamshire has signed New Zealand’s left-arm seamer Ben Lister and Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi for the T20 Blast group stage this season to ensure their availability for the success of Shahin Shah Afridi. Lister, who has won 13 limited-overs caps for his country, will not be seen in their World Cup plans, and it is believed that before Farooqi becomes established, they will join Notts in the first eight matches of the Blast group stage this season. And, given the uncertainty at the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Farooqi will make his county cricket debut before leading Afghanistan’s seam attack at the T20 World Cup.
Shahin, who took 22 wickets in 14 matches for Notts last season, including four in an over against Birmingham Bears, will be unavailable for the Blast this summer due to his commitments in leading Pakistan, leaving Notts with two alternatives
Notts head coach Peter Moores said in a press release, “The success Shahin had with us last year has made those overseas options available again.” “It creates a different challenge for the batsmen. Between Ben and Fazalhaq, we have shown that wicket-takers can make an impact at crucial moments in the game, which we still are.”
Ben is an exciting talent who has established himself on the world stage after consistent domestic performances
He has made a difference for the teams he has played for and there’s a possibility of doing the same with us. His presence in the group stage will be crucial amidst the run-in.”
Notts finished fourth in the North Group last year and were eliminated in the quarter-finals by eventual champions Somerset. After the departure of Samit Patel (Durham) and Jack Brooks (Somerset), they will have a new-look Blast squad where Stephen Mulaney is expected to lead primarily for the second eleven.
After signing a lucrative deal to play for Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League, Alex Hales will also be unavailable for the group stage, where Jack Haynes, Dillon Pennington, and Josh Tongue have all joined Worcestershire from the Orchids. New Zealand’s Will Young will be set up for T20 Internationals and Joe Clarke will lead the T20 captaincy.
When Western Australia (WA) makes historic hat-trick bids as Tasmania aims to break the 11-year drought
Western Australia’s skipper Sam Whiteman on Wednesday advanced for the media conference before the Sheffield Shield final, knowing full well that barriers of questions lay in his path.
On Tuesday, a bombshell exploded late when WA opener Cameron Bancroft withdrew from the final against Tasmania due to a bike accident leaving him unconscious. It marked a setback for WA, who have been striving for their first hat-trick of Shield triumphs since the late 1980s.
Even the iconic WA team of the 1990s, although Test greats, hadn’t managed this feat despite boasting several players. Victoria alone has clinched the Shield three times in the past 20 years from 2015-17
It’s evidently a rare and hard-earned achievement because WA may struggle to prove itself in an injury-hit season. Frontline quicks Jason Behrendorff, Lance Morris, and Matt Kelly have only played a handful of Shield matches between them, none available for the final.
Turner’s career has turned on its head through surgery in December following an injury sustained while fielding.
