OC-Tober: Day 20. Their Mentor

Zannah has only had two people she has ever considered true mentors in her life. Her mother died young, her father was a cruel man, and she barely gave any attachment to the countless tutors she had.

One of these people was Matriarch Fayruz of Al-Daida. When the Kikai Empire was lost and scattered, Zannah came to the Matriarch to negotiate the release of some of her people that had been taken captive into slavery. Instead of simple negotiations, the Matriarch made a deal with Zannah to help the Hasai gain her confidence and learn the skills to be a strong ruler of her own nation.

Before Fayruz, the only man in Zannah's life that she respected, was that of Grand Admiral Bellum. The Romtan was tactical, blunt yet soft in his teachings, and rose himself from the 'lowest caste' to the height of the navy, in her eyes the highest role in the military outside the royal family. There was a great level of respect between the two of them, and it was the Romtan that brought out Zannah's interest in mechanics.

OC-Tober: Day 3. Friends/Best Friend

Zannah is a woman with who has trouble making friends at the best of times. As the most powerful individual of her nation, she often sees others as pawns, soldiers, or advisors to suit her agenda. Because of that, she has very few she can call friends.

Kahli and Zizi Slatki are people in her life that, at one point, might have been able to call friends. There was once a sense of mutual respect between the families, especially with the couples son eventually coming to marry Zannah's daughter. However, when it was revealed that the former Empress blackmailed Kahli into crossbreeding with another species to increase the Hasai population, most of the love between her and Zizi was lost. Now they only tend to see each other over family gatherings and counselling each other with the coming threat of Chaos. Zannah has a begrudging respect for Zizi and the power she can wield.

Matriarch Fayruz is most likely one of the only woman that Zannah can call a true living friend, at least in flesh and blood. After the war with Hyrule ended in disaster, Zannah journeyed across the desert and was able to find her momentum again as a leader thanks to the efforts and guidance of Fayruz. Now, as older adults, Zannah believes that Fayruz is the closest leader in the continent that can align with her own views and philosophies. The only reason Zannah feels that she can't be completely honest with Matriarch is due to them being leaders of opposing nations, instead of being truly unified. In the Empress' eyes, some secrets are best kept close to the chest.

Finally, more of a soldier and a butler than a friend, T0-D is someone that Zannah greatly respects, even speaking up for his individuality and autonomy as a person, rather than a machine or piece or property. The android's sarcasm and humour makes him one of the few individuals able to make Zannah lighten up, and he has placed himself as one of two individuals Zannah can be completely honest with.

Fayruz's birthdat book gift seems to be some noodly romance work, "Twisted Tails - A Collection of Romantic Shorts About Lamia Ladies".

Rina stares at the cover, doing her best to keep it together. She's turning red in the face as her rattle shimmies quietly. Well, as quietly as something meant to be heard can be. Fayruz both read her like a book and got her the perfect book.
