hello loves! here’s a wee new excerpt from the buddie haunted mansion au i'm writing for 'summer of buddie' (this shit is toein gthe line between hilarious and gutwrenching so, yknow, it's my niche) anyway love you enjoyyy

     “What are you doing here, Chim?” He sounds tired. He feels tired. According to the clock on the wall, it’s only a little past midday, but Buck wants to sleep for a thousand years. He leans back against the counter, carefully keeping the weight off his bad leg. Sitting down would be a better idea, but Buck refuses to allow himself that luxury.      Chimney raises an eyebrow. “Can’t a guy come visit his best bud?”      “Hen’s your best bud.”      “My best brother-in-law?”      “Your only brother-in-law.”      “Your only living brother-in-law.”      Buck growls beneath his breath. “I’ll hit you, Chim.”      Chimney gives a low whistle and sips his stolen orange juice. “Feisty.”      Buck won’t actually hit him. Despite all current evidence to the contrary, he does really love Chimney. Loves how good he is to Maddie. Loves how big his heart is, how much he cares about everyone, how good a father he is to Jee-Yun. Buck’s just sore and grouchy and bitter, and he has been since the accident eight months ago, so he won’t actually hit Chimney.      He just really, really wants to right now.

Hi folks! I’m trying something new: I plan to share snippets or scenes from my current WIP every Saturday from now on! For the next few weeks/months they’ll be from my Stitch series while I work on the next part. Enjoy!

“Good. I…” Hyrule trailed off, eyes darting behind Warriors. A smirk lifted his lips.

“What? What are you—” Something slammed into his back, and Warriors let out an oomph as he was shoved forward. His tea—thankfully less than half full—was knocked over, contents spilling all over Legend’s polished oak dining table.

Arms wrapped around his neck, fingers locking together. “Morning!”

Warriors grinned despite the lost tea, a plan forming in his head. “Good morning, my friend. I see you’re feeling peppy today.”

“Mhmm!” Wind agreed, loud in Warriors’ ear. He lowered his voice. “Thanks to—hey!” Warriors latched onto Wind’s arms, locking him in place. Then, he stood, dragging Wind up with him and forcing him to latch on with his legs around Warriors’ waist.

“Guess I’ll have to clean this tea up,” Warriors announced, shooting Hyrule a smirk before turning on his heel and swinging Wind around behind him.

Wind laughed, bright and bubbly and golden to Warriors’ ears, holding on tighter. “Let me go!”

“Hmm, I should take this mug to the sink first, shouldn’t I?” And he spun around again, releasing one of Wind’s arms to grab the mug. Hyrule had a hand over his mouth as he snickered, eyes alight with mirth. Warriors winked at him, then turned again, mug and Sailor in tow.

“Warriors!” Wind’s shout might’ve woken the rest of their companions. Warriors would suffer the consequences any day, for his young friend to be so cheerful again.

Warriors let go of Wind’s arms to wash up his mug, but Wind held on, leaning his head over Warriors’ shoulder to watch. Warriors didn’t mind, when Wind was so scrawny and weighed nothing to him. When he was done, he latched on to Wind again and began to spin, unable to hold back his laughing when Wind shrieked with delight—and yep, the others were definitely awake, now.

Wind was still huffing and laughing when Warriors stopped. Clung a little tighter. “Thanks, Wars,” Wind murmured, leaning over Warriors’ shoulder again.

Warriors nudged him gently with his head. “Anytime, beansprout.”

Wind squawked in complaint. “What does that even mean?”

Thank you so much for the ask, I've been meaning to hop back into my writing (I've been so busy with school lately ugh) and this ask made me go back to my docs and get back into it again! I've been working on my modern fantasy WIP for a while now but I'm so excited to share it with everyone on here. It's going to be a series set in an entirely made up world with lots of adventure, action, romance, mages, magic & technology, magic systems, corrupt governments, exploration of human nature, and a lot of dark (and fluffy) themes. Hurt/Comfort lovers, I welcome you to check out this series because I had that specific trope in mind when creating this series and its characters.

I'm having a lot of fun designing the world and all the different countries, cultures, landscapes, and lots of other interesting details. I feel like there's not a lot of secondary world modern fantasy novels out there (when it's a completely made up universe it's usually fantasy set in the past or the future), so it will appeal to people who are looking for that. It's inspired by Greek/Roman mythology, astrology, astrological signs, tarot cards, the zodiac, and mythology in general. Here is a list of tropes & themes that are going to be present:

Rivals to Lovers to Enemies to Lovers

Identity, Character Growth, Mental Health, and Found Family

Hurt/Comfort (Experiencing, Overcoming, and Healing from Trauma)
