My day in food! Tea and semi skimmed milk whilst feeding the little man his breakfast Three slices of fat removed bacon, three poached eggs, mushrooms and two slices of BBGood bread with 1tsp of lf spread with another cup of tea and semi skimmed milk for my breakfast.
Pork roast with no fat, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, Frylight roasties and real gravy with a glass of 7up free.
More cups of tea throughout the day finishing my semi skimmed allowance and ¼ of a small tray bake as I just couldn’t resist!
I snacked on peaches, blueberries and carrots today.

First Week Back
Not only was this my first week back at slimming world, this was my first week back at work after being on maternity leave. I figured if my life is changing, a whole heap of change should happen at the same time. Kind of a start as I mean to go on type thing!
I left the group on Wednesday 4th January and went straight to Tesco and did a food shop having written in my meal planner in the car park after group what I was going to cook and eat all week.
I bypassed the yummies, the booze and the easy to snack on bad for you foods and piled the trolley full of fruit, veg, lean meat, passata by the bucketful, herbs and spices galore, frozen fruit, frozen veg and I used my syn checker on some quick and easy bits for the freezer for those days where everything goes wrong and you have no more than 10 minutes to make dinner!
After rearranging my freezer, fridge and cupboards for all the groceries I got to work chopping veg for soup, curry and pasta all to be portioned into tubs for the freezer. I chopped melon, peeled oranges and put them into snack size tubs for the three of us for throughout the week. I made 12 tubs of overnight oats for he hubby and I and then cleaned the huge mess I’d made.
I no more wanted to sit down to a plate of pasta after all that. I wanted a Chinese - but I had my curry full of veg with chips from the hot air fryer and a G&L (lemonade ... don’t like tonic 🤢) and really enjoyed it.
Being back at work this week was hard. I didn’t know if my uniforms would fit - thankfully they do but they trousers are digging into my mum tum and I’m convinced my arse will split the seam and my flowery granny pants will be on display to my patients and colleagues. Not a good look! Work itself was good, it’s like riding a bike - you never forget.
I miss my son terribly, people underestimate how being away from your child for 15 hours a day can affect you. They talk about it ‘being good to get separation’ and yes to a point that is good, but being told that doesn’t help anyone. I could go the rest of my life and not hear those words again and I will have heard them too many times.
Everyone is different, I love being with my son. If I didn’t have to work, I probably would still be a nurse as I love my job, but I wouldn’t work as much for as long hours. I’m not one of those people who can’t wait to have a night away from their child, I don’t think I ever will be. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with feeling like that, but that’s not me and that’s ok too.
My husband is feeling the strain with me being back at work. He has to do breakfast time and then bath and bed time when I am on day shifts and if I’m on a weekend it can be a long day. He also has to pick up the slack with the washing and ironing etc and it’ll take a bit of time for us all to adjust. I’m just hoping my night shift tired and grumpiness that rears it’s head like a fire breathing dragon when something isn’t done properly doesn’t take over giving him an excuse to run for the hills!
Anyway back to the being fat bit ... or the trying not to be fat bit! I was on plan 80% for the rest of the week. I know, I said no excuses. I’m human, I’m weak, I’m a disaster. BUT, I knew by Sunday 7th January that I needed to buck up my ideas or it’d be the same as all the other times and I don’t want that. I worked a long day Monday and was tempted by chocolate, biscuits, chips from the canteen, cakes baked by one of the doctors! I had none. I ate my overnight oats, my orange, my curry, brown rice and speed veg for lunch, carrot sticks and cucumber, speed soup and a tub of melon and by the time I got home at 2130 I was still stuffed and felt great! No sneaky toast and cheese or pancakes and butter with a cup of tea this week!
Weighed in again on Thursday 11th and I lost 5 1/2 pound so now I am 17 stone 7 pound. I was delighted as I had secretly hoped for 5 and I exceeded that. Just have to keep it up now!
