Hey, how are you there - on the blind side of our planet? 😃 We're having so much fun at FannibalFest & the guests are very happy, too! 😉 But happy denial to you and hope not to see you here next year, again 😜

1. I said the very small cult minded group would have fun so….yeah that doesn’t mean it’s technically a good convention. 

2. I talked to an attendee from the general public (AKA: Not from the cult) who said it was lame, no security, no fan art, overpriced, and ridiculous. 

Conclusion: The fannibal cult (AKA: The 60 people who are so devoted to Hannibal they will pay a lot of money to do anything hannibal related) will have had fun. General people from the general public who do normal conventions will not have fun. The only reason anyone had any fun is because 60 people showed up. If 500 showed up (like they lied and said would show up) no one would have fun. Face it, this is Dashcon but with 60 people. I think that much is obvious.

Feeding Hannibal Dinner!

So I finally got my #DressTheDish outfit ready for Janice Poon’s Feeding Hannibal Dinner at @fannibalfest-toronto

Hopefully it’s obvious that I’m going as Bedelia’s Leg 😆 @fannibalgrowingcircle I can finally tag you with something mildly crafty 😜😘

Also… just a fun little tidbit… I had the lovely opportunity to hang out with Janice at her place on Friday to help her try to get some things ready for FannibalFest and she made me some VEGETARIAN STEAK out of WATERMELON!!! I mean… how talented is this woman?!?!

We were trying to make encephalitis clock pancakes for her “Breakfast With Daddy” breakfast at the con, but the pancake printer contraption was a big FAIL lol, so eggs it will be 😆🙌🏻

Sick with Chest Cold Woes

So, for the last few weeks I have been pretty much Missing In Action on here as some could see. Why you ask? Because since the Sunday of the Super Bowl Football Game Party my sister threw/hosted at her house...guess who caught a random getting sick? That's right, this girl. Me!

Originally, I had thought and assumed it was just chills and my allergies acting up from the cold winter weather. Thought that it was nothing, no big deal. I was completely wrong because by middle of the last week, it manifested completely into this nonstop sneezing, coughing, headache, weakening me Chest Cold that weakened my poor asthma. It got to the point where my Mum had to drive me to the nearest open Urgent Care Medical Center in town two days ago. (Literally, Mum had to force me to go bundled up in my sweater knitted jackets, Luna Sailor Moon beanie, and long plaid neck scarf after she saw I wasn't getting any better.)

The doctor looked over me, after a 20 minute wait in the waiting room to be seen. She said officially I had a bad chest cold that was affecting my asthma making it feel worse pain wise. She wrote me a prescription for a brand new nasal asthma inhaler to use, some cold medication pills antibiotics that were so much more stronger. Told me to keep drinking fluids of (water, ginger ale, hot herbal berry-honey teas), eat soup, soup broth, chicken soup, some mashed potato sweet potatoes, blue berry yogurt to help with feeling better. Told me to keep warm, rest-nap as much as I could, wear socks around the house, and to keep taking my other cold tablet medication and that I'd be better in another week's time hopefully.

So, I've been sick with this chest cold of doom. Haven't been able to work at my art drafting table, the much art I've done lately is just drawing in a sketchbook and marker paper sketchpad of paper with art markers and pencils doodling Sailor Moon and Hannibal the series fandom fan art from in my bed of blanket bundles. I sold the Hannibal Art Coaster Portraits in the Fannibal Auction Online for Toronto Fannibal Fest Convention Con, will be mailing those out to the buyer of the art I made ASAP to the post office once I can make the trip.

Other than that, not much has gone on....I've been off-on working on writing work in progress chapters for fan fiction chapter stories...hopefully there will be new chapters ASAP to some Sailor Moon fics by me...depends on this evil cold of doom and when it wants to official vacant my body.

HFoH Ep27: FFT2: Taken by the Wendigo

In case anyone was wondering, post-Fannibal Fest we have not been hiding out in Will Graham’s barn and throwing ourselves on the mercy of our northern neighbors. We even recorded this long, rambling wrap-up episode fairly quickly, but then the rest of fall, various life shit, some travel, and now the Tumblr fiasco all sidetracked us. 

But now here we are, with our exhaustive review of the con. If you want to skip the details, we’ll sum it up for you: @fannibalfest-toronto knows how to throw that kind of party! Some of our favorite moments were: standing in Will-Fucking-Graham’s HOUSE, the incredibly thirsty medical panel, gaining insight from the episode re-watch with Vincenzo Natali and Michael Doherty, and talking dino porn with Scott Thompson (which inspired the episode art, think it’ll be flagged?). The con felt well thought-out, everything ran smoothly, we got to meet lots of other Fannibals, the guests were informative and entertaining, and we would definitely go back.

So until we can make this pilgrimage again we’ll be here on Tumblr, though we’ll also be watching in case Fannibals decide to migrate elsewhere. Fannibal Bus Tour: Will’s House

The owner of Will’s house was so gracious and let a tour bus of strangers into her home. Btw, I didn’t use a filter for the above pic. The sky just looked like that. It was very foggy and overcast.

This is where Wills bed was for the show. There is not a bed there now because the homeowner sleeps upstairs like a normal person

This is the fireplace. Fun fact: the homeowner’s paintings, which she painted herself, were used to decorate Will’s house. Her painting of birch trees, seen on the floor to the right, hung over the fireplace.

The production left a few of Will’s cookbooks behind for the homeowner to keep. Not a surprise that they are about seafood.

Fun fact #2: The scene where the Angelmaker is strung up was filmed in a barn behind “Will’s” house.

FannibalFest is dedicated to providing a safe place for all attendees.  If you are being harassed or are in any way endangered, it is very important that you report it immediately to FannibalFest staff.

When there is a possibility of harassment, please let us know as well. Forewarned is forearmed. It will allow us to keep an eye on potential situations.

For the safety and well-being of all attendees, FannibalFest has employed a Toronto security firm to staff the event 24/7.

With what money did they hire a security firm to staff this event literally 24/7? 

This is just a random google search result it doesn’t mean this is who they hired or are using (it appears to be for the Buffalo Niagra area though so near Toronto). I’m guessing this is comparable to anyone else they may have hired. So, 24/7 for this security? Right? Lets calculate that quickly. 

For a basic guard for 24 hours, according to this that’s 500 dollars. They will need more than one it’s a convention and they have celebrities. So...pretty much they are claiming they have invested literally thousands to hire private security for at least 3 days. 

Again I ask, with what money? Sure they may have gotten some discount for a group rate or multiple days but there’s no way they spent less than 2 grand on this.

Best news on exam day, I won the Feeding Hannibal cookbook in the trivia contest by @fannibalfest-toronto!! Much love and thanks to them, cannot wait for the fest and for my prize. Such lovely people to be doing this for the fans and continuing to spread the fannibal love!

For Fannibal Fest Toronto, I printed a small number of plastic cards with preferred names, twitter/tumblr, and preferred pronouns, for friends to hang on their lanyards. They were just a few extra cards that I had so it was only a few but they were a big hit! So...for RDC5, I will be offering to print more. I will print up to 200 cards on a first come, first served basis. Here is what you need to do:

1) Create your image!

Create an image of dimensions 3.375 x 2.125 inches with a dpi of at least 150 (this includes some bleed, so assume some will be lost around the edges!). This is 506 x 319 pixels. The image can be laid out vertical (hanging from the short edge) or horizontal (hanging from the long edge). I won’t be punching them but will be bringing a slot punch for people to use when they pick them up.

Make sure your image is laid out in such a way that you can punch a slot in it without losing anything important!

You could include things like the name you’d like people to call you, the user name(s) people may know you by, your preferred pronouns, or even your icon if it’s specific and people might recognise it!

Save your image in a common format (eg jpg, png)

2) Email your image to sugarmausconcards@gmail.com

3) Find me at RDC5 and I will give it to you!

Please ONLY SEND ME AN IMAGE IF:

1) You are going to be at RDC5 in February

2) You will pick it up!

3) You’re actually including info in the image (I won’t print just photos/images with no text)

4) You have the permission from the artist in the case of fanart

Edit to add:

I do not have the capacity to do image editing for people, not with 200 to print (that’s a lot of labour as is!). If you send me just an image with nothing on it/or not the right dimensions, it will not be printed. If you need help, please ask someone in the fandom. There are many people with basic PhotoShop or gimp skills! I will put together a step by step Gimp tutorial for setting an image to the right size and adding text. I will email anyone back whose image is unusable to give the a chance to fix it prior to January!

My One-Year Fanniversary!!

Helloooo @ my Hannibal buds still keeping up with me here!!

It’s been a rough last few months so I’ve been less active both blog-wise & art-wise, but I realized I forgot to mark a really important anniversary......around this time last year, I joined the fandom!! [& was intimidated as hell (still am tbh) by this community of amazing creators!!] I’ve talked about it a bit in the past, but this show & the fans of it really inspired me to get back into writing & drawing, after a long hiatus of creating nothing at all. For that, and for the support I’ve been shown, I will be forever grateful <3

Even though I think I’ve fallen off the general fandom radar a bit, it’s because of y’all that I’ve felt able to start venturing into new subjects & territories with my art again! I’ll still continue creating Hannibal art (bc I love the hell outta the show & the fandom around it), but it’s been refreshing to feel confident enough to try out new things again too :) So a super extra double shout-out to anyone who’s still supporting me through that, even though it may not be why you originally followed me haha.

ANYWAYS: all I wanna say is THANK YOU!! Thank you for every like, reblog, comment, reply, ask, or message y’all have ever sent me. Thank you for the commissions & the Ko-fi’s!! And thank you for any continued support moving forward. But most of all, thank y’all for helping me get back in touch with creating again. Here’s to hopefully more years ahead!! <3
