Fangirls the musical disclaimer in light of Liam Payne's death.

This is about a musical I love and post about but that is based heavily on the 1d fandom and has some plot points that might be harder to watch now. I apologise if this is too soon but I want to make this post so I can link to it in all my future fangirls posts.

I am not sure if now is the right time but I feel before I post more fangirls content to my blog I need to do some disclaimers in the light of Liam Payne's death.

Since I watched fangirls the musical I wanted it to be popular on Tumblr. It's a musical about fandom with young women at it's heart and a diverse cast, I really believe it is the sort of musical tumblr could love.

However, an important part of the musical is about the perceived and then metaphorical death of a boyband member. It's particularly jarring as the boyband in fangirls is very obviously based on one direction and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the things that happen in the musical like the vigils now start to happen in real life.

Of course it's different as (mild spoilers) Harry in fangirls doesn't die, his reputation and influence sort of does. Despite this, I feel like it could be difficult for many 1d fans who before might've loved this musical to watch it now.

On the other hand, so much of the musical is about the power of coming together as fans, of the love fans have for boybands and of what happens when someone you idolise isn't what you thought. It's also funny and joyful and musically awesome. In some ways, I think fangirls could be more relevant now than ever.

I just think it's important for anyone thinking of watching it/listening to the soundtrack or even just seeing my posts to be aware of this.
