There is a very weird discourse going around about censorship in fandom right now. Ao3 censorship would not only logistically be a nightmare for the people on Ao3's team, but would also defeat the purpose entirely.

Archive of Our Own is a place where people can write whatever the fuck they want, and read whatever the fuck they want. Judgement free, as long as they don't tell anyone IRL. Censoring things that are uncomfortable will 1) lead to the censoring of works that are not romanticizing this thing (this is how mass censorship works, especially on the internet. Ao3's team cannot read every Rape/Non Con fic and decide personally which ones are and aren't romanticizing it) and 2) leads to things that are 'controversial' being censored. And suddenly you can't write and publish anything with kink in it at all because it can be taken as romanticizing harmful dynamics. I saw someone lump in watersports with the romanticization of stalking/rape.

AO3 has and should always be a don't like don't read space.

If you don’t like something don’t read it. The discourse over tagging and warnings with fanfic is ridiculous. As long as something is tagged or made a warning you cannot bitch at someone about it. You’re responsible for your media consumption. Be responsible.

If a tag brothers you, block it, filter it ignore it. Learn how to use the filter systems on the sites you consume things on. That is the safest option for you as a consumer.

YES!! I'm so glad someone asked about this!

Bee is definitely not the same physically after being brought back to life.

It will have taken him time to recover, ie being able to walk on his own again + regaining his strength to fight. But he will never be the same as he was before. His vision as shown in my design of him with darker blue/dimmed optics, is much more limited. Like someone with nearsighted vision, things a certain distance away appear blurry, whereas things close to him appear normal.

Additionally, his reflexes and speed are not what they used to be. He's still fast but while the relic used to revive Bee did its best to reconnect severed wires that acted like nerves, it couldn't fix everything.

Some of these problems could likely be solved if Bee had gone back to the Autobots for proper care, but he couldn't bring himself to face them after they left him for dead on the battlefield.

I'm gonna cook up such a good recovery chapter >:3

Ok don’t come at me for this, but incest in fiction (specifically fanfiction) can be a great jumping off point for angst. It’s the forbidden love, the taboo relationship, the dirty secret. And ao3 is for sure proof that people are drawn to angsty relationships. The site was founded on Winchester for gods sake. I am not saying that IRL incestious relationships are in any way ok or acceptable, but why is it so awful to portray in FICTION? Why is it somehow considered worse than fiction about murder? And horror novels? And gore?

All it takes is a brief look at human history to see that we (as a species) were not naturally opposed or disgusted by incest. Humans had to learn that incest was bad by having fucked up children with their siblings. The Royal Family gets real fucked up when you go far enough back and dig into it, obsessions with keeping the bloodline pure and that shit. No it’s not good or ok IRL, but there is no need to call out or crucify writers who choose to explore the topic in FICTION!!!

i’ve already expressed how much your agere! headcanon means to me in the tags lol, but i also wanna add that you just write it really well. i stopped reading age regression fics a LONG time ago because they felt really cringey or unrealistic, but the way you’ve written it feels natural but over the top in just the right ways for Wade. It doesn’t feel fetishized at all or like that’s all he is, and it’s really nice to see it to be taken seriously in a fic setting. So thank you 😅🙏🏻

I fully understand though and Honestly am semi in the same boat? The first step is definitely taking care of yourself and I think you have something to be proud of because you did it :)

I don't think there's anything to worry about and that's the great thing is being able to do it at your own pace and when its time, label it. if you don't want too then don't. What ever you are comfortable with because at the end of the day its for YOU.

Yes, I found it unrealistic too especially when everything is perfect and its barley ever related back to the characters trauma rather then "Lol I'm baby, goo goo ga ga, Nothing I do has consequences apparently because 'im daddy's favorite baby girl' also I just ripped off my nappy and wet the carpet" ????? Im not kidding There is genuine things written like this. And its not satire? It feels unserious and more of a mocking or joking thing then actually helping the Charater?? if that makes sense?

Anyway- Yeah I've gotten this comment a lot that most of the stuff written is flat out fetishization or is cringy in the sense of being not thought out so it sounds soooo weird. (Again- more fetishization, Especially with the excessive ageplay ones where they're literally pretending they cant walk yet.. sexual stuff.. it's definitely not for me.)

Ive said it before but Ill say it again. What people do in their bedroom with consent is not my buisness, maybe that stuff does help some people? maybe they are just inexperienced writers and I'm misunderstanding something? Either way- Im not judging, I just wish there wasn't so many sexual innuendos in the SFW ones. like.. huh? That's the point of SFW right?

Another thing I do when writing these is I think of actual littles reading these and I think about what is going to make them happy/ feel understood and seen as someone trying to heal rather then as a massive joke.

Look- As my therapists funniest patient- Truama can be hella funny but I feel having Agere as the butt of a joke is just.. wrong.

So many men are written as tops and doms by women, because the majority of straight women (bi women are also "guilty"* of this, but less often) are bottoms and often submissive ones. There's nothing wrong with this exactly, but for characters that, to me as a queer, are SOOOO queer coded (it's never on purpose but they still are) it's weird to constantly read about them in fic through a heterosexual lens.

Like Dabi and Shigaraki, whether you think they be queer coded or not (anime Dabi DEFINITELY isn't, but we don't talk about him), just don't read as tops to me AT ALL. Not all men are going to be dominant tops, and like it's fanfic so it doesn't matter and we can all just do as we please, but I'd love to see more people play around with this a bit.

Give me some submissive top Hawks, because obedience is literally his thing! Write me a Twice that WHIMPERS because I know that man has it in him to be babygirl. Or maybe some dominant bottom Shigaraki, who won't be doing ANY of the work, but he'll be calling all the shots thank you. I mean Shigaraki and Dabi literally both started the series as bratty, fuckable, little twinks. I know I'm viewing them through the lens of a tranny and a fag, so my perception is just as skewed by my experiences as everyone else's, but are you telling me those two wouldn't at least be open to a little pegging?

I struggle not to read Dabi as a total brat, so when people write him all suave and forceful I literally start laughing, because I think about the guy who complains about getting carsick and pouts all the time and I'm like...no girl. Of course, anime Dabi has done IRREPARABLE damage to Dabi's overall character by changing his looks (including height) and attitude. If you're picturing anime Dabi when you write those fuckboy fics then honestly you're dead right.

I mean, this is all coming from a trans masc top, so obviously I'm also looking for what I like in fic, and even find myself reading about characters who I can't see bottoming regularly AS BOTTOMS, just because that's what I like (of course, I'd bottom for Spinner but that's because I'm Down Bad), but like...it would be cool if more people were open to some variety.

*I didn't have a better word than guilty in my brain but like... what's there to be guilty of? Writing and reading shit that gets you off? If that makes you guilty then give me the death penalty judge.

It's my personal pet peeve when Yue dies in canon diverge stories where Zuko joins the gaang before the invasion of the north.

Like don't get me wrong, it's not that I always dislike it, but there are so many things that have to come together for it to happen!

Most importantly: Zuko has to kidnap Aang.

If he doesn't do that, the chance that Tui dies is sooooo low! Because that is what gave Zhao the opportunity and time to bag the fish. I'm like 90% sure that Aang was awake and not meditating by that point - he just was in the cave.

So if he isn't in the cave, he should be totally able to wake up when Zhao steps into the oasis room at the very least. Then he would tell Katara to protect the fish and the possibility of him yoinking Tui would be drastically lower.

So it just irks me when it happens the same way it does in canon even though Zuko isn't there to kidnap Aang.

Don't get me wrong, it can totally still work, but, like, give me an actual reason! Change the strategies or something! Something has to drastically change for it to happen.

I mean, Aang can knock them back, Katara is a master, Zhao can't do fire breathing (which I'm pretty sure is the only reason why Zuko managed to just... get out of Kataras ice), I'm pretty sure Sokka would come soon and Appa would kick ass. Boom, problem solved.
