Understanding the Impact of NGOs for Rural Development on this World NGO Day
Tumblr media
World NGO Day is celebrated annually on February 27th to recognise the efforts of non-government organisations (NGOs) in promoting social change, alleviating poverty, and improving the quality of life for people around the world. NGOs play a vital role in making a positive impact in the society.
Role of rural development NGOs
Rural development NGOs are organisations that work towards the economic and social improvement of rural communities. These organisations provide essential services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development in villages and remote areas. They work to empower communities by providing skills training, promoting sustainable agriculture practices, education, and the like.
This World NGO Day, choose to celebrate the efforts and recognize the contributions of rural development NGOs by associating with one of the impact-creating NGOs, i.e., Centre For Transforming India (CFTI).
Get to know CFTI
CFTI is a registered rural development NGO established in 2009. CFTI works to bring about a positive change in rural communities, focusing on improving their standard of living by implementing various rural development programmes such as:
●      Bicycles for girl students: CFTI provides bicycles to rural girl students to ease their commute to school and continue their education. So far, 14,623 bicycles have been distributed.
●      Education: CFTI supports education of rural children by giving scholarships, providing infrastructure support to revamp rural schools, computers, and academic kits.
●      Women empowerment: CFTI is working to empower women through various projects, including distributing cycles to rural girl students to improve education access, providing skill development courses and creating awareness on menstrual hygiene.
●      Skill development: In their effort to bring a sustainable change, CFTI provides several skills training to rural women and youth. Tailoring, candle-making, digital marketing and graphic design courses are some of their interventions.
●      Healthcare: CFTI supports healthcare needs of the rural people by providing financial support during emergencies, cancer treatment, and other health conditions.
●      Water conservation: CFTI is dedicated to water conservation and has undertaken a project in the coastal village Shenwai and plans to implement this successful project in over 100 villages in coastal Maharashtra.
Success stories
As a rural development NGO, CFTI has been working tirelessly to bring a positive change in the lives of rural communities. Here’s sharing two life-transforming NGO success stories:
●      Nikhat Hafiz Saiyyad is a student in her second year of a Bachelor of Commerce degree from a small village in Maharashtra called Shaikhache Gaon. When CFTI started their initiative to skill women through tailoring, Nikhat enrolled and successfully completed the program. She firmly believes that clothing is an essential requirement for all people.
Nikhat expresses her appreciation for the tailoring training provided by CFTI, saying it is unique compared to other training centres. While other institutes charge high fees of up to ₹30,000 for the same course, CFTI offers it at a low cost of ₹1,000 with a more comprehensive syllabus. Moreover, CFTI gives each successful trainee a free sewing machine.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, job opportunities were limited, but Nikhat is now a skilled tailor and can start her own business. This will allow her to support her family and finance her siblings' education.
The second success story highlights CFTI's bicycle distribution program for girl students.
●      CFTI primarily runs bicycle distribution programmes for female students in rural areas of Maharashtra to prevent them from dropping out of school due to transportation issues. During this effort, the organisation met a girl named Karuna from rural Maharashtra. Her father was incarcerated and she was living with her aunt, relying on her for funds to travel to school. The aunt was hesitant to provide the money, but Karuna was passionate about education. The lack of transportation was hindering her school attendance and grades. However, after receiving a bicycle from CFTI, her life changed and she was able to attend school regularly and see improvement in her grades. CFTI provides bicycles to thousands of similarly situated girls in need.
NGO success stories demonstrate the positive impact that non-profit organisations can have on communities in need. They inspire and motivate us to continue supporting and contributing to their causes.
Conclusion
As a leading rural development NGO, CFTI has been making a significant impact in rural areas of Maharashtra. On this World NGO Day, we encourage you to support CFTI's mission by making a donation, volunteering your time, partnering with the organisation, or organising a fundraiser. Your support can play a crucial role in bringing about sustainable change in rural communities and improving the quality of life for those living in these areas. Do your bit in making a difference today!
 Author Profile:
Centre For Transforming India (CFTI) was established in 2009. It is a registered NGO under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882 and founded by passionate young individuals to bring in change by elevating the rural communities. With a team of over 700 volunteers, CFTI works for education, women empowerment, disaster relief, healthcare, etc. for the underprivileged. All contributions of ₹500 and above towards CFTI are applicable for exemption from income tax as per section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

NGOs work for
NGO works for the welfare of the poor.economically backward people. They work for their progress and development for their betterment. They provide education to them and help them to bridge the gap between rich and poor. They work for the society’s development such as poor infrastructure and poor facilities in some societies where people are not able to afford any money to improve their standard of living. NGO help in developing good infrastructure and provide them with facilities that they are lacking.
Some causes best NGOs in India work for are Child rights, poverty, Social justice, Environmental conservation, human rights, care for elderly people, Women empowerment and wildlife conservation.
NGOs provide services such as healthcare( including family planning) and education.Empowerment — aim to help poor people to understand the social, political, and economic factors affecting their lives, and to increase awareness of their lives, and to increase awareness of their power to control their lives.
NGOs enable citizens to work together voluntarily to promote social values and civic goals, which are important to them. They promote local initiative and problem solving. Through their work in a broad array of fields – environment, health, poverty alleviation, culture, and the arts, education, etc.
NGOs, through capacity building, develop community capacities such as ability, skill, and knowledge of mobilizing resources, planning and evaluating community initiation and solving problems to gain the mastery over their lives.
NGO even work to catch criminals. They help people to come out from injustice that they are facing on an everyday basis, they help people suffering from domestic violence. This tells us that NGO is very supportive in dealing with the main issues that people usually suffer with.
NGOs have played a crucial role in the protection of human rights. They cannot succeed in their role unless there is help from the judiciary. The NGO helps the victims of human right violation by providing them assistance and advice.
NGOs work on investigating alternative energy sources, supporting local economic projects, and promoting gender equality. NGOs can also take on humanitarian, relief oriented roles. These organizations focus on bringing aid to those affected by armed conflict, natural disasters, famines and more.
NGOs activities include, but are not limited to, environmental, social, advocacy and human rights work. They can work to promote social or political change on a broad scale or very locally. NGOs play a critical part in developing society, improving communities, and promoting citizen participation.
The impact of NGOs is that NGOs have been set up to provide aid to various sections of the society and to that end they are quite effective in providing local governments with either much-needed funds or help to fund/develop local infrastructure projects.
To end the factors that cause poverty, NGOs run major research, awareness-raising, and growth programmes. Beyond that, they carry out projects on the ground to empower societies. Many children centric NGOs such as child rights and you, teach For India, Save the children etc.

With regular and generous contributions from our supporters, we are able to march steadily towards achieving these goals. Help India Foundation Trust runs programs to support the education of the neediest children of India in different ways.
How do we do it?
We counsel parents coming from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of the society on the significance of sending their children to school and assist them through the admission process. In schools, we make learning fun. We train teachers to impart learning using child-friendly and interactive teaching-learning methods. We conduct Computer Science and English classes, promote and facilitate extra-curricular activities and sports. The idea is to provide holistic learning to children. We map out-of-school children and ensure their enrolment into formal schools in age-appropriate classes. In classrooms, we encourage and help children to undertake learning activities in groups. This makes the entire experience much more fun and promotes healthy competition.
In metro cities, we operate our own learning centers where children come from the socially-excluded communities are provided learning and/or after-school support. During emergencies, we set up Temporary/Online Learning Centers and distribute education kits so that that the affected children do not drift away from the path of education.
With Your support we are able to do the wonderful effects of education on new generations. In this way we can give children a better tomorrow by giving them an opportunity to go to school. Donate Now
Help India Foundation Trust Food & Nutrition Support Program
In different parts of India, we work persistently to ensure that children grow up healthy and enjoy a happy childhood.
Even today, 11.2 lakh children in India die before their fifth birthday. Every 25 seconds, a child under five years of age dies mostly due to preventable causes such as infections and malnutrition.
In this miserable situation which firms our resolve to provide healthy food and nutrition benefits to children to support them. Almost 50% of our work for children caters to the food & Nutrition needs of children. In different states of India, we’re passionately working to improve the health and nutrition status of children with special focus on those coming from the most disadvantaged communities.
Following are the areas we work in:
Basic Hygiene, Food, Health and Nutrition of Children Affected by Emergencies and Natural Disaster
We go by the mantra that no Child is born to die. That is why we have projects in India which are aimed at increasing the chances of survival of children between the ages of 0-10. In the urban slums of Delhi, we run Mobile Health Units which take healthcare to the doorsteps of the urban poor.
In 2019-20 more children benefitted through our programs. Donate Now
In all of this, we engage with the local community. We work towards spreading the message of the importance of maintain personal health and hygiene, for themselves and for their children. We collaborate with state- and district-level government authorities, schools and Aanganwadi Centers.
Help India Foundation Trust Treatment Support Program
Treatment Support Program (TSP) provides supportive care through Nutritional, Hygiene, Infection Control, Blood and Holistic support and improves tolerance to chemotherapy and mitigates the risk of infection in children undergoing anticancer therapy, thereby improving survival outcomes and increased quality of life.
Childhood Cancer
Childhood is a time of wishes, desires, and dreams of endless possibilities. But for children faced with cancer it is a battle for and with life. They face it with persistent courage and an acceptance of their circumstances that humbles us. Here are some facts about childhood cancer:
Every year 300,000 children all over the world get diagnosed with cancer
Childhood Cancers constitute 3-4% of all cancers
70-90% of childhood cancer is curable because of better response to the treatment and protocols
Unlike the cause of adult Cancers, the causes of most childhood cancers are as yet unknown
In India, it is estimated that nearly 40-50,000 new childhood cancer cases present each year
Treatment for Childhood Cancer
The treatment of cancer in children can include chemotherapy (the use of medical drugs to kill cancer cells), Radiation (the use of radiant energy to kill cancer cells), and surgery (to remove cancerous cells or tumors). The type of treatment needed depends on the type and severity of cancer and the child's age.
Fees of Treatment
Costs differ from cancer to cancer, and centre to centre. For many childhood cancers the cost of treatment alone can be prohibitive. Even at a Government Hospital, the cost of drugs alone, for leukemia, can be as high as Rs 3 lakhs. For an ALL BMT it can be as high as Rs 5 lakhs.
Public Awareness for Childhood Cancer
The objectives of Help India Foundation Trust Awareness Program include the dissemination of information on the following: the fact that Childhood Cancer is Curable if detected early enough and treated at a proper cancer centre and patient emotional support. Donate Now
Help India Foundation Trust Emergencies Support Program
Emergency response has always been at the heart of Help India Foundation Trust’s mission. Help India Foundation Trust is committed to reducing children’s vulnerability to emergencies, ensuring their right to survival and development and provide the support they and their families need to quickly recover and re-establish their lives, dignity and livelihoods. The campaign, launched in October 2019, reaffirms the central importance of emergency response in our fight to reduce child mortality.
Our goal is to mount emergency responses that are timely, at appropriate scale and scope, providing high quality programming, efficiently, effectively, safely and securely for the most vulnerable children. Our aim is to increase preparedness of children and their families for emergency situations in the aftermath of natural disasters through child-centered and community-based approaches. We also aim to manage disasters better, minimize the impact of natural disasters to communities in disaster prone areas and build child-centered strong communities.
Help India Foundation Trust has put in place an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPP) to guide all Help India Foundation Trust employees and implementing partners while preparing for and responding to emergencies.
Disaster in Country:
India is the most populated democracy in the world, consisting of 28 states and 8 union territories.
In the event of a large-scale disaster, it is unlikely government will call for assistance. However, the Central and State governments are generally receptive to assistance from international donors, NGOs and the UN in disaster preparedness and response.
We respond immediately to families affected by natural disasters with food aid, water and essential items and also work towards rehabilitation of affected families. We work to ensure that children and their families are better prepared to cope with emergencies and that preparedness programs at community level are child-centered and community based.
Message to supporters:
We encourage all our donors to visit our project locations and see the impact their contributions help us to make in children's lives.
In the period 2019-2021, we will reach more and more of the most deprived children.

Suicides Are Preventable If a Multi-Sectoral Strategy Is Evolved
New Post has been published on https://cialiscom.org/suicides-are-preventable-if-a-multi-sectoral-strategy-is-evolved.html
Suicides Are Preventable If a Multi-Sectoral Strategy Is Evolved
If you know somebody – close friend or family members member – at risk of suicide, remember to arrive at out to them. The Suicide Avoidance India Foundation maintains a record of telephone figures they can connect with to converse in self esteem. You could also accompany them to the nearest healthcare facility.
Discussion on suicides and attempted suicides in our culture is both politicised (as in farmer suicides) or minimal to when a celeb normally takes their lifestyle or when there is a wrong scare (example, Blue Whale video game). Throughout other instances, our coverage makers and community just have on with a shrug of the shoulders, as if absolutely nothing can be completed.
Earth Suicide Avoidance Day, on September 10, is a time to mirror on the substantial influence that suicides have on the life of several Indians. Whilst suicide is a worldwide public overall health difficulty, India accounts for practically 1 out of 3 suicides worldwide. In 2012, the Earth Wellbeing Organisation believed nearly 250,000 folks in India die of suicide. Even a conservative estimate would mean that there were being all around 2.5 million tried suicides, as they are approximately 10 occasions the quantity of suicides in any place.
Absolutely everyone talks about India’s ‘demographic dividend’, but as of now India’s demographic dividend (its youth) is killing alone. Suicide is the amount 1 cause of dying among younger gals (aged 15 -29 several years), forward of maternal mortality. Nearly 5,300 little ones aged -14 many years destroy themselves each and every year in our state – that’s roughly 100 kids each and every week.
On the other hand, inquire any suicide prevention pro and they will explain to you there are several evidence-based strategies to reduce and minimize suicides. Even though suicides and tried suicide are a community overall health dilemma, the antecedents are also in the social domain. Mental overall health challenges enhance the risk of a human being dying of suicide, but other hazard elements include things like interpersonal and marital conflicts, monetary troubles, poverty, lack of social justice, social inequities, domestic violence and unemployment.
So, what can we do to tackle this significant general public health and fitness difficulty?
Train coping approaches
Concerns of mental very well-getting and helpful coping strategies for distress need to have to be inculcated in adolescents and youthful young children early on in lifestyle. With a large amount of youth suicides, we need to implement proof-centered interventions in schools, households and other peer networks.
To emphasize a single example, our project SPIRIT (Suicide Prevention and Implementation Study Initiative) works by using YAM (Youth Informed of Psychological Wellbeing) framework for 14-16-12 months youth in educational institutions in Mehsana, Gujarat. YAM trains younger adolescents to discuss difficulties that impact their mental wellbeing, how to articulate their experiences of distress, coping strategies to offer with distress and suicidal strategies and methods of achieving out for support.
The interlink amongst domestic violence and tried and completed suicide is one more area of intervention that demands focus. Perform performed by Dilaasa (CEHAT, Mumbai), a disaster counselling centre, highlights the want to answer sensitively to ladies reporting attempted suicide, aim on developing applications to resist violence and bolster as effectively as learn new methods of coping with domestic violence.
Peer assist, even with remaining demonstrated to be powerful, minimal expense intervention, has not been perfectly applied in India and should be presented much more importance.
Intersectoral interventions
An important characteristic of suicides in India is that just one out of 4 suicides are thanks to poisoning, predominantly making use of pesticides, particularly in rural places. Globe Wellness Organisation (WHO) has advisable that an essential approach in direction of suicide avoidance in India is to reduce entry to organophosphate pesticides together with community education to make improvements to acceptance of limitations to obtain, and offer teaching to educators, youth, and wellbeing staff on how persons can assist in times of disaster.
Dr Lakshmi Vijaykumar, an eminent suicide prevention specialist from Chennai has demonstrated that centralised storage amenities for pesticides in villages decreased suicides and attempted suicides in four villages in Tamil Nadu.
There are basic interventions to also decrease ‘exam failure suicides’. Most of these suicides are by pupils who failed by a margin of number of marks or those who obtained much less marks than what they had anticipated. Activists in Tamil Nadu campaigned hard and obtained the condition government to introduce supplementary exams following the board exam effects. Investigate from Chennai showed that the variety of this kind of exam suicides diminished from 45 for each yr to just 9 per 12 months immediately after supplementary exams ended up introduced.
These examples of efficient and evidence-centered interventions highlight the require to involve other sectors this sort of as agriculture, education and learning, rural advancement and panchayat raj institutions in suicide prevention.
Coverage approach
A single are not able to overlook the hyperlink of psychological overall health and suicide. We now have a window of possibility with the new Psychological Health Care Act, 2017, which has successfully decriminalised suicide and mandates the government to employ suicide avoidance applications. India’s National Mental Wellbeing Care Coverage, 2014 also has reduction of suicides and tried suicides as just one of its targets. For the to start with time, the policy and authorized atmosphere is conducive to addressing suicides as a community overall health unexpected emergency. Establishing a countrywide suicide prevention method in India, as suggested by the WHO, is a lacking piece which requires rapid awareness by Centre. Suicide avoidance tactic will have to have to be a multi-sectoral priority that requires not only the wellbeing sector but also schooling, work, social welfare, the judiciary and many others. It is heartening to be aware that states such as Chhattisgarh and Gujarat are getting the guide in producing condition-amount in depth suicide avoidance methods.
To summarise, suicide prevention is not the sole duty of health and fitness expert services, but wants collaboration and participation between numerous sectors that impact a person’s life. Authorities also wants to choose a much more pro-lively strategy in establishing a nationwide suicide avoidance technique by involving all stakeholders which includes persons with lived encounter, families, caregivers and mental health specialists.
Demystify suicide
Communities participate in a critical function in suicide prevention. They can supply social guidance to people today in distress, engage in adhere to-up care, and combat stigma. If you know of any one who has been sensation distressed, have a dialogue about it. Asking questions about suicide is not a result in. On the opposite, it allows a individual open-up and discuss about their feelings. Self-care is an critical component of psychological perfectly-becoming. If you or anyone you know has been considering of suicide or has attempted in the earlier, you can url them to these sources:

Lets talk about Indian kids Healthcare reports

Lets talk about Indian kids Healthcare reports
9 out of 10 kids inside the age organization of 6 to 23 months do not receive ok eating regimen, CRY said, quoting the figures of the latest Records released via the Countrywide family health Survey (NFHS) (2015-sixteen). Deprived of a healthful begin, thousands and thousands of these youngsters will undergo the effect of this underneath-nutrition no longer just in early years in their adolescence But at some point of their lives.
“Contamination in children and shortage of adequate and appropriate nutrients is a vicious cycle which needs regular interest via preventive in addition to promotive strategies,” said Komal Ganotra, Director of Policy, studies and Advocacy for CRY (baby Rights and also you).
Indian kids healthcare
4 out of the five worst appearing states are from north India. while Rajasthan is at the lowest, where a measly three consistent with cent children within the age organization receive ok weight-reduction plan, the figure stands at five in keeping with cent in Uttar Pradesh. Simplest six in keeping with cent of kids receive right vitamins in the National capital. Even Tamil Nadu which has the highest percent of kids receiving good enough nutrients, the wide variety does not go 31 consistent with cent.
“Given the dismal state of maternal care in our u . S . A ., It’s far in all likelihood that the impact at the health of the kid began proper from their mothers’ womb, given the direct linkage,” Ganotra stated.Fifty per cent of the pregnant girls (15-forty nine years) had been found to be anaemic consistent with the NFHS-four and Best 21 percentage received complete antenatal care. Poor fitness of mothers affects the physical and cognitive improvement of the child, rendering a completely Negative begin to life and having lifelong implications.
“The Incorporated baby improvement Scheme, which addresses nutritional wishes of kids in an early age (beneath 6) and expectant moms, has the right motive to make sure a strong basis for children when most brain development occurs.”It’s miles non-negotiable for the state to make certain ok budget and robust implementation mechanism for greater convergence of fitness and nutrients offerings for every baby in the country,” Ganotra said.
On 27 March, Lok Sabha, in a unanimous choice, exceeded the landmark mental Healthcare Bill, 2016, a regulation in search of to rectify our us of a’s blatant apathy hitherto closer to people tormented by intellectual afflictions. The Invoice, which obtained Rajya Sabha’s approval remaining August, in a first-rate step, overturned the archaic and grossly inhumane Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (which criminalises attempted suicide). First introduced in August, 2013 in Rajya Sabha by using the UPA, the Invoice, now pending professional assent of the president, will repeal the prevailing intellectual fitness Act, 1987 upon implementation.
Every other huge success of the Bill is the view it adopts of mental illnesses. The modern move to cast off the old terminology and selecting to update it with a legitimate definition sends out a message concerning the inclusive and conducive environment the government is making an attempt to foster. The Bill defines “mental Contamination” as “a significant disease of thinking, temper, perception, orientation or memory that grossly impairs judgment or ability to fulfill the everyday needs of existence, mental situations related to the abuse of alcohol and capsules.” It gives the mentally unwell a danger to steer a life with all the basic facilities and centers granted by using the Charter which anybody else enjoys. It additionally helps offer fundamental rights and freedoms to the ones whose existence till now had been marred with social stigma.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke about the difficulty of despair in his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat wherein he emphasised the want to create a psychologically conducive surroundings to make certain humans have a hazard of main a healthful existence. Mentioning that melancholy is clearly no longer incurable, the Top minister said the first step within the restoration method is to renowned the trouble in preference to suppressing it. Modi’s speech is substantial in that he pursuits to raise the cloud enshrouding mental Contamination and promote talk. It additionally fosters an surroundings which treats the ones in struggling, with identical dignity and recognize as the rest.
The ‘patient-centric’ Invoice, However, isn’t with out shortcomings.
The largest obstacle to the right and extensive implementation of the provisions furnished through the Invoice is the percentage proportion of the price range allotted to the fitness quarter. With a meagre one to 2 percent of the Union budget committed to the whole fitness quarter, India cannot fairly desire to make a visible change in removing the mental health crisis. That is abysmal, compared to developed nations who dedicate 10 to 12 percentage in their budget in the direction of supplying healthcare.
Indian kids healthcare
India spends zero.06 percent of its health price range on kids mental healthcare, that’s substantially less than what Bangladesh spends (0.forty four percentage). maximum evolved nations spend above 4 percentage in their budgets on mental fitness research, infrastructure, frameworks and expertise pool, in line with this 2011 World health Company (WHO) document.
The Invoice mandates the availability of scientific health services run or funded through the government be available in each district of the united states of america. But, with already insufficient scientific infrastructure at district and sub-district tiers, the economic burden to be borne by means of the nation governments can be massive except the crucial government allocates a larger chew of the finances to incur the expenditure.
also, the implementation of the Invoice will vary across one-of-a-kind parts of the country with southern states of Tamil Nadu or Kerala receiving higher coverage because of the already adequate primary fitness infrastructure than the states like Bihar or Uttar Pradesh.
The advance Directive clause of the healthcare Invoice has also raised some eyebrows within the clinical fraternity. the provision essentially permits the man or woman tormented by intellectual Contamination to specify the shape of remedy to be furnished earlier and also empowers that person to nominate a consultant to make certain that directives are being adhered to. The debate surrounding the clause is over the following question: Up to what quantity does the Invoice honestly empower the mentally stricken? It fails to recollect the location of these laid low with intense mental problems (like schizophrenia and psychotic sickness) who refuse to well known their mental state, let alone be able to making rational decisions and giving consent in writing, concerning their treatment. The Invoice is being criticised for failing to offer change publications of motion based on the severity of the mental disorder rather than having a generalised method applicable throughout the spectrum.
Around 90 per cent of children under two years in the country are struggling to get proper diet crucial for their development, said a leading NGO said on World Health Day today.
Nine out of 10 children in the age group of 6 to 23 months do not receive adequate diet, CRY said, quoting the figures of the recent data released by the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) (2015-16).
Deprived of a healthy start, millions of these children will bear the impact of this under-nutrition not just in early years of their childhood but throughout their lives.
“Illness in children and lack of adequate and appropriate nutrition is a vicious cycle which needs constant attention through preventive as well as promotive approaches,” said Komal Ganotra, Director of Policy, Research and Advocacy for CRY Child Rights and You.
Four out of the five worst performing states are from north India.
While Rajasthan is at the bottom, where a measly three per cent children in the age group receive adequate diet, the figure stands at 5 per cent in Uttar Pradesh.
Only six per cent of children receive proper nutrition in the national capital. Even Tamil Nadu which has the highest percentage of children receiving adequate nutrition, the number does not cross 31 per cent.
“Given the dismal state of maternal care in our country, it is likely that the impact on the health of the child started right from their mothers’ womb, given the direct linkage,” Ganotra said.
Fifty per cent of the pregnant women (15-49 years) were found to be anaemic according to the NFHS-4 and only 21 per cent received complete antenatal care.
Poor health of mothers affects the physical and cognitive development of the child, rendering a very poor start to life and having lifelong implications.
“The Integrated Child Development Scheme, which addresses nutritional needs of children in an early age (under 6) and expectant mothers, has the right intent to ensure a solid foundation for children when maximum brain development occurs.
“In India It is non-negotiable for the state to ensure adequate budget and robust implementation mechanism for greater convergence of health and nutrition services for every child in the country,” Ganotra said.
Indian kids healthcare
The medical healthcare specialists have referred to as out the Invoice on the dearth of its sensible technique, citing the extreme scarcity of docs, mainly psychiatrists, scientific psychologists and psychiatrist social workers. A latest WHO record, titled ‘depression and different Not unusual intellectual issues – worldwide health Estimates’, estimated that roughly 7.five percent of India’s populace suffers from some shape of mental Infection (essential or minor). The document found out that the whole range of instances recorded in 2015 of depressive issues were nearly 57 million or four.5 percent of the populace while the ones of hysteria issues had been roughly 38 million or three percent. Immediately professional intervention is required as It’s far similarly suggested that this statistic is in all likelihood to upward thrust up and affect about 20 percent of the populace by way of 2020.
With figures of such importance, the state of affairs is annoyed by using the fact that the u . S . A .’s healthcare zone is pretty understaffed and overworked. in step with authorities Information, It’s far expected that there are 3800 psychiatrists, 898 scientific psychologists, 850 psychiatric social employees and 1500 psychiatric nurses within the united states, most of that are operating in metropolitan or tier- cities, ruling out the possibility for human beings residing in districts and sub-districts of having appropriate medical interest.

Actions taken as part of the Family Planning Programme
According to HMIS reports available with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the performance in IUCD insertions increased from 52,75,440 to 55,40,743 and sterilizations increased from 40,30,409 to 40,70,597 between 2014–15 and 2015–16. This indicates that the National Family Planning Programme is being implemented satisfactorily.
Family planning has been a top concern for the government, and it has been actively promoted through the National Rural Health Mission, which was established in 2005 in accordance with the National Population Policy, 2000's policy framework for population stabilization. In accordance with the demands of sustainable economic growth, social development, and environmental protection, the National Population Policy, of 2000 sought to meet unmet contraceptive needs and achieve a stable population by 2045.
Family planning is a fantastic tool for empowering couples as well as a means of population management. Family planning dramatically minimizes the vulnerability of unintended or untimely pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and poor maternal and child health, therefore saving mothers' and babies' valuable lives through the availability of choices and education about contraception.
By designating Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare as a key Target under the Sustainable Development Goals, it has been positioned under the umbrella of healthcare by international agreement.
Any program's ability to succeed rests on the public's acceptance of it. The program may not be able to provide the expected effects unless the community is actively engaged in it and views it as its own program. Since healthcare NGOs in India have such close ties to the populace, non-governmental organizations can accomplish this more effectively. They can play a big role in eradicating deeply ingrained notions that favor large families and male children, promoting female literacy, delaying girls' marriage until later in life, providing crucial newborn care, spacing out births, etc.
Healthcare NGOs in India are capable of reaching remote places and also carrying out their operations at a reasonable cost. In the last five to six years, the Department of Family Welfare has introduced a number of programs to encourage improved NGO engagement in the family welfare program.
HLFPPT has made a variety of contributions to the National Family Planning Programme. On the demand side, we are persistently working to increase contraception awareness and access among communities, counseling on FP methods, and providing a wider range of options; meanwhile, on the supply side, we are dedicated to building health providers' capacities on FP services, creating a network of specifically designated FP Clinics, etc.

Family Planning Programme by HLFPPT
Family planning is an important part of human development, especially in countries with low incomes where contraception, reproductive health care, and education are hard to get. Unwanted pregnancies and a lack of access to health care can kill the mother, the baby, or cause other health problems. In such scenarios, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) can play a crucial role in providing comprehensive reproductive healthcare and family planning services to communities in need.
HLFPPT (Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust) is a family planning NGO that has been working in India for more than two decades. The organization was founded in 1992 as a social marketing organization and later registered as a public charitable trust in 1995. Since then, HLFPPT has been committed in empowering families through its family planning program.
The main goal of the organization is to improve the reproductive & sexual health of people in India, especially to women & children, by making healthcare services more affordable and easier to get. To reach this goal, HLFPPT offers a variety of family planning services, such as contraceptives, health care for mothers and children, and prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
The goal of the HLFPPT through family planning program is to teach people about how important it is to plan their families & give them the tools they need to make good decisions about their reproductive health. Women and girls are often the most left out and vulnerable people in society, so the program also focuses on giving them more power. The HLFPPT interventions are based on the community and stress how important it is for the community to be involved in planning and carrying out the program.
The organization is working and guided by the principles of sustainability, scalability, and replicabilities. HLFPPT works closely with the government, other NGOs, and organizations in civil society to build strong partnerships and make the most of available resources.
The family planning program run by HLFPPT has helped many communities in India to have better reproductive health. The organization's actions have helped lower the number of deaths among mothers and get more people to use modern birth control. HLFPPT has also been very important in lowering the number of people with HIV/AIDS by promoting safe sexual behavior and treating those who are infected.
In conclusion, HLFPPT's family planning program is a good example of how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can help improve the health of poor communities. Focusing on sustainability, scalability and replication has helped the organization make sure that its interventions have a lasting effect. The work of the HLFPPT shows how partnerships and community involvement can help improve health outcomes. The organization's commitment to giving families more power through family planning serves as a model for other NGOs and civil society groups working in reproductive healthcare or running family planning programs for the general public.

NGO Pledges To give brighter future To Girls Through Access to Quality Education
Tumblr media
National Girl Child Day was initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2008 to spread awareness about the disparities faced by the girl child across the nation. According to the fifth issue of the National Family Health Survey (2019-21), issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, “the sex ratio of the population (females per 1000 males) for the country was estimated as 1020.” Despite an increase in these numbers in the past few years, the nation still sees nearly 21% of girls dropping out of school for multiple reasons.
To provide support for girl children across the nation, various NGOs stand up for the same. One such rural development NGO is the Centre For Transforming India (CFTI), a registered organisation under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882.
 The history behind CFTI:
As mentioned previously, CFTI is a registered organisation established in 2009. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, they have provided support, humanitarian relief and required assistance for various causes in rural Maharashtra and Assam to name a few. Some of the projects undertaken by CFTI, a rural development NGO to help the underprivileged have been in the sectors of women empowerment, skills development, girls' education, healthcare, disaster management, and water conservation. Targeting the 21% of underprivileged girls who drop out of school, CFTI has contributed majorly to helping the needy in eradicating the below-mentioned reasons.
Financial Situation: Hailing     from rural communities, education is an expensive deal. Despite being a     fundamental right for all, not many can afford it. With the aim to provide     financial support, CFTI has provided school kits and scholarships to     support education.
Distance: Government and     private schools are often situated near cities and make it difficult for     students in rural villages to travel and attend school. CFTI volunteers     observed girls of tender ages travelling for up to 4-5 km daily through     tumultuous routes and dangerous paths at unsafe hours of the day. This has     been a worry for many parents and hence they pull their children out of     school with the hopes to keep them safe. CFTI has distributed 15,000+     bicycles to girl children and helped them travel safely to their schools     and colleges.
Unsafe campuses: Many     schools amidst rural villages have been reported to be out of date,     lacking basic infrastructure and have few to no bathrooms. Observing the     distress villagers were in, CFTI supported revamping school     infrastructure. Apart from this, they have also donated computers for     school labs.
Considering the above commendable projects undertaken by CFTI, it is safe to consider them an NGO for girl education. This NGO has supported girl children across rural Maharashtra to complete their education and be independent and successful women of the nation. This National Girl Child Day, stand up for the right cause and donate to NGO.
 Extend help:
The NGO for girl education provides 4 ways for individuals to partner and help the organisation in uplifting rural communities.
Donate directly and impact     the lives of the underprivileged.
Partner as an organisation     and extend help to conduct workshops, work for the betterment of school     infrastructures, and much more.
Partner to provide bicycles     to rural girl students.
Organise a fundraiser to     help this NGO collect funds for their programmes
Given the work undertaken by this NGO for girl education, as well as the various ways to contribute to their organisation, it should be in one's plans to donate to NGO this National Girl Child Day. Visit our website by clicking -  https://www.cftiindia.com/
 Author Profile:

How Has HLFPPT made Its Worth as a Family Planning NGO?
A paradigm change has occurred, and family planning has become one of the strategies to reduce maternal and newborn mortalities and morbidities. It is commonly known that states with a high prevalence of contraception have lower rates of mother and newborn mortality. By assisting women in having the desired number of children and preventing unwanted and inappropriate pregnancies, more investments in family planning can thus help lessen the effects of rapid population rise.
Family planning is a wonderful resource for empowering couples as well as a means of population management. It dramatically minimizes the vulnerability of unintended or untimely pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and poor maternal and child health, therefore saving mothers' and babies' valuable lives through the availability of choices and education about contraception.
As the healthcare NGO in Delhi/NCR, HLFPPT has made a variety of contributions to the National Family Planning Programme. On the demand side, the family planning NGOs are persistently working to increase contraception awareness and access among communities, counseling on FP methods, and providing a wider range of options; meanwhile, on the supply side, they are dedicated to building health providers' capacities on FP services, creating a network of specifically designated FP Clinics, etc.
Programmes Held by HLFPPT to Promote Family Planning Awareness
(i) Social Marketing Programme - Pan India
In numerous Indian states, HLFPPT has been implementing social marketing campaigns to make cheap reproductive health products available to all segments of society. As a pioneer in social marketing, it has collaborated with NACO and the National Family Planning Programme for the past 20 years to conduct social marketing of condoms as a tool for family planning, the avoidance of unintended pregnancies, and defense against HIV/AIDS and other STDs.
(ii) Capacity Building of HSPs on IUCD and Pregnancy Testing Card - Multiple States Since 2012, HLFPPT as the healthcare NGO in Delhi/NCR has been carrying out this extensive, multi-state programme with the assistance of the State Health Missions, funding support from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and coordination with the State Institute of Health & Family Welfare. It seeks to give health service providers skill-based training on IUCD insertions (HSPs).
(iii) Family Planning Public Private Engagement Agency (FPPPEA) - Uttar Pradesh The National Health Mission-UP has started including private sector organisations, nursing homes, etc. in the delivery of family planning services in the state in order to improve the quality and scope of the family planning programme. In order to address this, the FPPPEA is a strategic initiative that intends to encourage private sector participation in the provision of family planning goods and services in accordance with government standards. In order to execute the FPPPEA, the HLFPPT as the best family planning NGO has worked with NHM-UP, focusing on the mapping and capacity building of private providers of FP services, developing standards for quality assurance, etc. The legitimacy of private facilities has improved thanks to accreditations, which have also assisted consumers by standardizing prices and the quality of financial planning services and products.
