Continuing my review and summarization of Project 2025, Chapter 11 covers the Department of Education.
1) Eliminate the Dept of Education and restore educational powers to students and families
2) âEvery parent should have the option to direct his or her childâs share of education funding through an education savings account (ESA), funded overwhelmingly by state and local taxpayers, which would empower parents to choose a set of education options that meet their child's unique needs and âprovide families roughly 90 percent of what the state would have spent on that child in public school to be used instead on education options such as private school tuition, online courses, and tutoring.â
3) Rebalance education by âbolstering the workforce skills of Americans who have no interest in pursuing a four-year academic degree.â
4) Get rid of DEI mandates and reject critical race theory
5) Rescind student loan relief and loan forgiveness, privatize all lending programs to âallow for market prices and signals to influence educational borrowing,â and terminate the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. NB: Public Service loan forgiveness allowed me to attend medical school in exchange for serving in a medically underserved area in a year-for-year program. It does the same for other healthcare workers who serve in prisons, on Indian reservations, federal agency, the US military, or a nonprofit organization.
6) Devolve the agency as a stand-alone Cabinet-level department.
7) Lessen federal regulations on charter schools
8) Define âsexâ under Title IX to mean only âbiological sex recognized at birth, establish âsexâ as a âfixed biological factâ; and strengthen protections for faith-based educational institutions, programs, and activities.â
10) Provide school meals only to children of need, and âdo not use free meals to support radical ideologyâ
11) Rescuing the National Education Associates (NEA) federal charter because it advocated school closings during the pandemic and promote âradical racial and gender ideologies in schools that parents oppose
12) Do not allow schools to assist a child with a social or medical gender transition without parental consent or to withhold information from parents about a childâs social transition
13) No public education employee or contractor shall use a name or a pronoun to address a student other than the name listed on a studentâs birth certificate, without the written permission of a studentâs parents or guardians. NB: Does this mean they canât call Kathleen âKathyâ or Joseph âJoeâ?
14) Protect faith-based institutions by prohibiting accreditation agencies from undermining religious beliefs or requiring policies that conflict with the religious mission
15) Stop âarea studiesâ programs which tend to run counter to American interests.
16) Allocate at least 40 percent of funding to international business programs that teach about free markets and economics and require institutions, faculty, and fellowship recipients to certify that they intend to further the stated statutory goals of serving American interests.
17) Eliminate the âList of Shameâ of faith-based colleges that have applied for exemption from the Civil Rights Act. NB: The fact that they are applying for exemption rather suggests they are white supremacist, pseudo-Christians.
