imo one of the biggest proofs of sansa's character growth post-agot (which seems to be overlooked) is this, where grrm makes sure we know how her perspective of the trident incident has indeed shifted. why else even say this? it's not what the tyrells wanted to know, they asked about joff's treatment of her in particular, and "he lied about the butcher's boy" means nothing without context (and even if she said the lannisters used that lie to justify killing mycah, i doubt olenna, at least, would care). but for sansa atp, joffrey's sins against mycah are worth remembering and reporting as his first crime (known to her), that incident is now recognized as evidence of joff's montrosity, the wrongs committed against mycah by joffrey personally (as in not even his death) are on par with sansa losing her wolf and being beaten by the kg. sure, she still has some classism remaining, but to say she cares nothing for the smallfolk, and is still the same girl disgusted by mycah's smellyness, who later repeated joffrey's lie about him weeks after the fact and blamed arya for lady's death more than joffrey, that's just demonstrably untrue.

There’s something so holy and intimate about the way St. John refers to himself (not sure if exclusively or just pretty often) as “the apostle whom Jesus loved” in his gospel. under what circumstances do we think this non-canon couple might hold hands directly in front of their canon partners. and under what circumstances do we think the canon partners might be okay with this. do we Truly think this is a secret relationship. do we Truly think these guys would sneak around behind their canon partners' backs when all of them are extremely close friends with a high level of trust and commitment to each other.

would assuming that these extremely close friends have actually communicated with one another Exactly The Same Way They Do In The Canon Source Material perhaps cause less despair.....

for me the only irredeemable thing the arcane writers could do is make sevika date men. i have reasonable belief they can (more or less) stick the landing on all the other plot points. even if they killed sevika off in a tragic yet narratively-satisfying way i would be devastated but ultimately content with her story. if they made her anything other than a lesbian the show would be borderline unwatchable to me.

listen............ i stand by the fact that cullen rutherford whose highest rank in the templar order has been as second to meredith is by NO means qualified to be commander of an army.

that's literally never been his job!! and the fact that he's cold turkey quitting lyrium before he even starts on the job............. cassandra you are insane. what the fuck. the other day @ikarons and i went down a rabbit hole yes and-ing each other about a worldstate where u could throw warden loghain into the job in his stead and like.... despite the political clusterfuck that would inevitably result (he's going to invade orlais. u can't prevent this.) he's STILL more qualified for that job.

but anyway. all that is beside the point. my reasoning for throwing meredith in the position is less about qualification (still more command experience than cullen even if it's civil command rather than military tbf) and more about the fact that cullen's entire arc boils down to "i should have seen something was wrong with meredith sooner :("

i've sketched out some rough thoughts on how i'd adapt his arc for thea trevelyan's worldstate (& you can do something interesting if you lean into the solythal/andrastian insanity of it all) but honestly the whole exercise just made me think "wow. wouldn't it be crazy if we put the person actually in command in the hot seat instead?"

and it is immediately so much more compelling.

she Really Did All That. red lyrium-whatever. she'd own all of it, the red lyrium didn't do much other than deepen the paranoia that was already there. she turned kirkwall into a tinderbox to keep the city safe and it achieved nothing but set the city on fire. she by no means trusts mages more after the fact, but it doesn't change the fact that she was plainly unfit for command at the end of it all. she has to reckon with all of that in real time while being put in a situation that is arguably just as bad a pressure cooker as kirkwall was at the end.

why might cassandra recruit her then?

well how does it look for the chantry if the knight-commander of kirkwall is dishonourably discharged from the order? it's a disgrace. they might as well fly a white flag and let the mages state their own terms for peace. they'd have no means of restoring the circles again after that. it would be surrender. however much of a "reformer" justinia may be, she was by no means prepared for that outcome. she sends leliana to kirkwall to threaten a damn exalted march on the city to prevent that outcome!

now a "repentant" former knight-commander meredith who has submitted to the authority of the chantry once more........ that has more promise, politically speaking.

how you'd spin it to the templars and mages would depend obviously. for the templars, you'd want them to see it as them more closely aligning with their order. for the mages, you'd want to convince them that it's a sign of the chantry's collective repentance for the "excesses" of the circle that meredith has been moved out of her old command while she & the chantry seek a new path forward. at the same time, it is a warning that they could just as easily choose to return to a far harsher order than they're prepared for, should the mages fail to choose compromise.

Theres no words that can describe the complete alienation of having severe long covid. One infection, caused directly by political decisions to remove public measures, and i cant walk. Can't stand except on really good days which are getting rarer. Sitting is a privilege i dont always have. Cognitive work is too much of a risk to consider for the moment. I live in constant fear of going back to being utterly bed ridden in the sense that i cant even feed myself, drink water, speak, move my limbs beyong my fingers and toes. For days and days without relief.

Nothing feels real. Every gain can be lost in a literal second. And on top of this, the fear of reinfection. The very real possibility of death, given how weak a single infection has made me when I was healthy and young. The even more real possibility of a worsened state, where there are no good days. That means death, too. If i am constantly in a state where I cannot move, i am going to have to resort to euthanasia because it is not a bearable existence. I can barely tolerate it when it know it will end. Last time was 14 days and I am still so traumatized by it 2 months later nothing feels real.

And on top of that, i am being told that my life doesnt matter. Covid is not a real concern. Let it fester. Even if the stairs in my building didnt lock me in, all public spaces have become lethal to me. I cant see my friends because they cant avoid exposure when theres a wave. To love me, you must live in a horrific world where no matter how many precautions you take, no matter how much they ostracize you, you might still cause my death.

Covid is a privileged issue they say. Im not even in the room for it bc i cannot be in the room. You can move your body, youre not afraid of death, you havent lost everything that makes you *you*, but im the privileged one. I cant even emote the way i used to. If i get too excited, too happy, i cant move. I talked to countless people who cant work anymore, are losing their jobs their houses their partners their immigration permits but no. Covid doesnt matter. I dont matter. Everyone cheered when i got covid bc they got to party for new years eve. I hope it was a good party. I will never agree that it was worth my life.

For the past 2 years ive had to share classrooms with students and professors who know everything about my story, who have seen how disabled i am by long covid, who ive begged to mask. They all refuse to mask. And i have to sit there and pretend its not a cosmical level farce that theyre talking about social justice and ethics and just what good people they all are. Not to mention that most of them have revealed themselves to be zionists. I have to sit next to an iof soldier and act as if its ok that she gets to sit in this classroom, except im not even sitting in the room because cases are too high and im too weak to be there physically anyway, so im on zoom. At least i get to remove my earbuds when she speaks so i dont have to think about the atrocities she has committed.

i'm so glad that episode three happened so everyone is empathising with kristen because as an ex-catholic kid it felt uhh strange when people were looking at kristen Bouncing from faith to faith, being messy and sad and Rude about her own religion and going, uhh what's Wrong with kristen. Kristen says she likes god and picked that god and yet she's being a dick to them? Why can't she just make up her mind? Why's this character STILL unhappy?

Like I don't know what to tell ya man😭Like yeah I wish I knew why too😭
