Facts about vitamins A, D, E and K
Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat-soluble.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A, which is actually a group of interrelated substances (retinol, retinal and retinoic acid), can be synthesised in the body from β-carotene, found in dark-green leafy vegetables such as cabbage, sprouts, broccoli and spinach, and in carrots. Why Video Game Remakes Are Not Inherently Bad
There is a lot of discourse online about Video Game Remakes: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth/Silent Hill 2 being nominated as GotY despite both of them being Remakes, the whole drama about the Gothic Remake and now voices are being louder than ever before about the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.
Let’s break it down then. Why do people hate them?
"Remakes do not change the experience with the Game"
I think many people tend to compare video games with movies, because overall we experience a story and watch it unfold. Although that is definitely true, the way in which both media does that varies largely. One cannot deny that (some) video games do have a cinematic component in them. They broaden our perception of the world through visually stunning staging. But that’s also not true for the majority of games out there. There are a lot of visually weak games that immerse the player in different ways: text-based games such as Ace Attorney have a massive playerbase. They don’t use cinematics to immerse the player, they use characterization and player choice (Here the player has to actively listen to testimonies for example, and if the witness says something contradicting the player can then point that out directly).
So you can see that cutscenes can drive the narrative, but they’re not the primary propelling factor of the game. Even in strictly paced and heavily narrative focused games such as “Detroit: Become Human”, the scene in itself is nothing without the player (Other games include but aren’t limited to: Life is strange, Until Dawn, The Walking Dead). The player has power over the story in itself and is not a mere voyeur in its unfolding. He is an active participant. That can also be seen in combat focussed games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare taking a different route, using different guns/gadgets or choosing another dialouge option. Yes, the story may not change through this but your interaction with it is different and has thus changed the experience with it. Games are meant to be explored, not just mindlessly watched.
Of course one could argue that once you’ve exhausted every different playstyle/playthrough the game in itself has exhausted every possibility of being unique to the player, but honestly… If you’re not aiming for that platinum trophy, who ever does that?
2. "Remakes don't necessarily change the gameplay"
While that may be true to some Remakes, that is not true for every one. Later I’m also going to talk about Remakes that didn’t change the base gameplay.
Take the Final Fantasy VII Remake as an example: The original was fully turn-based and now they’ve changed it to a real-time action game with the possibility of a pause. That is a huge change, it directly impacts the way in which the player interacts with it. Some hate it, some love it but you can’t deny that it changes the way you play the game on a base level. Let’s hypothetically say the Remake didn’t change anything in the story. Then playing the Remake and the Original would be two completely different experiences and cannot be compared to each other in that aspect.
Then there are games that didn’t change the overall gameplay mechanics such as the Resident Evil Remakes or the Silent Hill 2 Remake. While it is true that the gameplay in itself didn’t change, a lot of quality of life changes were made. Now I have to say that this does not in any way, shape or form insinuate that the original was bad or deficient; the originals were made with what was technologically possible then. There are always limits to technology. It’s only natural that nowadays game developers have more tools at their disposal that allow for a smoother and better gaming experience.
These quality of life changes are, for example, a new difficulty setting (for the Resident Evil Remakes). I can already hear some fragile ego’s cracking but fact is: not everyone is naturally gifted at playing video games and still wants to experience them first hand instead of watching a walkthrough. Most people aren’t professional gamers and they also may not have the time to invest to play a difficult level just to advance in the story.
And to the quality of life changes I also count the improved controls. That can also be seen in the Resident Evil Remakes, since they’ve shifted from a fixed perspective to a third person perspective. There are, of course, arguments that this takes away the charm/appeal of the game. But these fixed perspective games were mainly produced that way because of the technological limitations. It was cheaper and more ecological that way, since the console had to render less images and the budget was, in turn, not blown to pieces. And I, for one, am glad that the trend of fixed camera perspective games is over because they’re clunky to play and also don’t offer the same type of immersion that a third person perspective has.
Those quality of life changes are the same that draw new people to the games, who maybe didn’t see the appeal of them beforehand. Stop gatekeeping old games and saying that the technical limitations were “part of the charm”. That’s the same as me saying: Well, why don’t book publishers use a book press anymore? It’s essentially the same product that is being made, so the way in which it is made shouldn’t matter.
Making a game accessible is also not limited to new difficulty settings or better controls. As a trivial example: The Silent Hill 2 Remake is accessible because of its mere existence. The Silent Hill video game series is known for being difficult to acquire. These games (the originals) are now- in reselling spaces because you can only get them through there- marketed as rarities (I am not counting the ps3 HD collection because that thing was pure garbage). They are expensive and you also have to own the right console to play them. The Remake opened up the space for casual fans who had/have no possibility of experiencing it as an original.
3. "Remakes tell the same story"
In Remakes some narrative elements can also be explored in more depth or it could focus on a different aspect of the story that wasn’t important before. While a Remake is mainly focussed on retelling a story, it may also update it’s narrative to fit better in our time. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remake does that wonderfully. It sets up a new narrative with the old story and modernizes it to our understanding of modern warfare. It is not the same kind of warfare that was known from the cold war, no it is terrorism. That’s a prime example of a Remake retelling a story while also being something of its own.
4. "Remakes take time and resources that could have been spent on building a new game"
While this assumption may be true, it doesn’t particularly make the Remake worse than the new game they could’ve done. Producing anything is a gamble, whether it be Remake or a new game. It’s just a smaller gamble to reproduce something with a known bigger audience than take the time and develop a completely new IP. It takes less marketing and is, economically speaking, a better alternative than trying something new with the possibility of it not being received well. In the end, we have no say in what will be produced and it's up to the developers.
To sum up: Remakes are not the same game as the original, they can improve on many aspects such as gameplay and story and are, as such, better accessible to the broad audience.
I wrote this mainly in response to many negative comments I saw under the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake posts. You can say that you're not excited for the Remake because Kojima isn't producing it, but to shit on Remakes in general is just dumb.

Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) is a heterogeneous group of diseases with variable presentations. It involves pain and inflammation in joints and progressive joint involvement and damage. The condition is associated with skin disease Psoriasis, but not all people with Psoriasis will develop Psoriatic Arthritis. Factor VII deficiency is a rare congenital clotting disorder that develops in 1 out of 500,000 individuals. It causes excessive or prolonged bleeding following a trauma or surgery. The most common clinical presentations include epistaxis, menorrhagia or post tooth extraction bleeding. However, hemarthrosis may occur rarely. There is lack of correlation between the blood plasma levels and severity of symptoms. Cases with marked Factor VII deficiency may lack related symptoms. Such cases are diagnosed with another disease with incidental finding of Factor VII deficiency.
