Crosshair being overly protective is something that can be so personal. He’s attached to Omega much more than he ever was with his brothers.

“You good? Got your crossbow? Sure you can carry those supplies?”

Like this line of questioning screams I care about you, your safety, and how you’re feeling. His emotional development is centered around Omega and his NEED to protect her. It’s not something that was forced onto him either, it came naturally. It’s a part of his nature to protect her.

And then he says “Stay close. It’s easy to get lost in this terrain.”

“You’re as bad as Hunter.” (Omega)

“Oh, I’m much worse.”

Like what?!? Huh? I know what you mean but how much worse? It’s that, I’d kill for you, I’d die for you protectiveness from CROSSHAIR.

Omega reciprocating that concern and protectiveness too though!

The way he said “Too bad.” So soft and careful not to offend her.

nobody ever listens to toby, not without questioning him 100 times. he's used to being interrogated, ignored, brushed off, assumed to be stupid or useless or a mindless attack dog. he feels like he has to protect everything, prove himself, kill everything to keep what matters safe. always on high alert, the first to act, told what to do, never to be listened to, never to be trusted.

but kate asks him what he wants her to do. kate looks to toby when something happens. kate lunges before toby has the chance to. goes to him the second something is wrong. toby says attack, kate slaughters. she doesnt trust anyone the way she trusts toby and she'd kill anyone getting in the way of their friendship. cuz someone like kate doesnt get someone like toby too often.

she doesnt get someone who'll drag a mattress through a forest and dirty mineshaft so she can rest easier. doesnt get someone who gives her shitty band t shirts so she can stop wearing the same shirt from the last 5 years. someone who brings her food and water and doesnt treat her like a goddamn animal for once in her proxy life. she thinks he's a dumb asshole, but he's also the most clever, hardworking, genuine friend she's had. somehow...

You could probably tell I changed my mind a lot abt Tord’s hair when you look back on my Stay AU doodle page. I wasn’t really thinking about his design much (duh twas a doodle)

I originally wanted to keep the ‘viking theme’ Tord had going on during his stint as R.L., I figured he grew attached to the look enough so I wanted it to reflect more in how he styled his hair at an older age, since in his R.L. era it was a bit more subtle, but the inspo was there.

Then, I thought, no I don’t think he’d do this look casually. The whole reason he did it as R.L. was because he was trying to create a more intimidating persona, he liked the look, but I don’t think he’d have the time, or want to spend effort, styling and maintaining his hair at that length. ESPECIALLY now that he’s retired, he couldn’t care less what he looks like. There’s nobody he’d really be posturing for anymore (except Tom, but at this point they’ve been married so long already, Tom would love him even if he looked like a greasy potato)

So I thought, it would probably be easier for him to come back to his old hairstyle, though not entirely the same due to everything he’s been through already.
