Perpetua runs his fingers through her hair as if in a trance. It’s so beautiful, like a dark waterfall cascading into the bath. The waves paint a mesmerizing pattern in the strands that he never wants to look away from.

It’s even shinier once he gets it properly wet, cupping the hot water in his hands and pouring it over her head. The shampoo comes next, lathered gently into her scalp. He moves himself closer to her, bracketing his legs on the sides of her hips. He massages her scalp methodically and ensures that he gets every inch as thoroughly as he can. Once he’s sure her scalp is clean, he works the lather down into the rest of her hair.

It’s so comforting to have her this close in such a domestic setting. He presses sweet kisses to her bare shoulder as he works, occasionally peppering her neck as well.

Sister Hannah lit a black candle for the altar at the church. It was late enough that the church was empty. She liked to come here at this hour to pray for guidance sometimes, when she wasn't sure of her path.

She'd been with V for some little time now. She loved him to distraction. He was so sweet and so caring and -- odd as this sounded, perhaps, for a vampiric high-priest of Satan -- just a ray of sunshine, really. Just an absolute Hell-sent blessing.

The sex was also mind-blowing, but that was neither here nor there.

The thing is, they were serious. And that meant they were both in it for the long haul. They wanted to stay together.

And she knew -- from bitter, long experience -- that this meant they were going to have to learn how to communicate better, or sooner or later they'd be in deep trouble.

They'd already hurt each other by accident multiple times, and they never seemed to talk it out properly afterwards. She got the feeling that he just wanted to act like it never happened and that was good enough for him, but that only worked for so long, and it didn't really work for her at all. So they were going to have to learn to do better.

Which would be fine, except that she was terrified.

She had a history of making things worse whenever she tried to make them better, to the point where she'd gotten afraid of ever disturbing anything no matter what, even if the status quo left her in bad shape.

That said, she knew V hated it when he thought she was pushing her own needs aside too much. He seemed to think she did that rather more often than was actually the case, but at this point if she didn't try to work on things with him she really would be sacrificing something that she needed, and neither of them should have to put up with the results.

She sighed. She supposed she had her answer. She was going to have to talk to him and pray her hardest that it didn't all go pear-shaped.

The following afternoon, when they had a decent amount of uninterrupted time to spend together, she went to his rooms with the intention of working around to the subject at hand.

After they'd spent a while chatting together, just catching up on each other's day, she figured it was now or never.

"V, love -- I hope you don't mind my asking. We've been together for a while now, but I think there's still a fair amount I don't know about you. I know that there are some parts of your past you don't want to talk about, and I won't pry there, but -- what's your relationship history like? Please ask me anything you want to know, too, if you do, about that or anything else."

Please for the love of Satan, let that not seem like too weird of a question. Most people would have volunteered some of their history by now, but she knew his past was a fraught subject at times. She didn't know how much of that was wrapped up in his approach to relationships because she really knew next to nothing.

He looks at her in surprise, a bit thrown off by her question. It’s a quick and startling change from the casual conversation they had just been having and he isn’t sure how to take it.

Frankly, it’s something he’s been avoiding mentioning on purpose. The thing is, he knows that Hannah is experienced with romance. He can tell by the grace she treats him with, the forgiveness and compromise she offers so easily. It’s in the maturity with which she handles his quirks, his monstrous sides. It’s a whole world that Perpetua has been completely unaware of until now.

Sure, Perpetua is experienced sexually. He’s 54, after all. But when it comes to true romance? Well… honestly, he isn’t even sure if he’s ever been in love before this. And he’s terrified of what Hannah might do if she knew how inexperienced he is with real relationships.

At first, he wants to laugh nervously and swiftly change the topic with a quick lie that they’ll save the topic for later, but it’s the look in her eyes that stops him. She looks… anxious. Is she afraid of his response? Afraid of him? Satanas, he desperately hopes he hasn’t done something to make her feel unsafe here.

“W-where is this coming from, cara?” he stammers. “Si, it’s not the most comfortable subject, but I suppose I can speak on the matter. Truthfully, I…”

He hesitates, suddenly avoiding her gaze.

“Ah, there isn’t much history, you see.”

Superman and Daredevil swap bodies for a day

I want to read a fic where Matt ends up in the DC universe in the body of a solar powered alien while Clark goes to Marvel in the body of a blind Lawyer. How does it happen? Dunno maybe Matt wishes he could have a chance to see again just for a day and Clark wishes to experience regular human aches and pains.

I just want the JL to hear this guy in Supes’ body say something absolutely devastating like “I have sight again but what’s the point if I’ll still never see my best friend’s face?”

And the Justice League, assuming this guy is from an alternate timeline or parallel universe say “Don’t cry!” (He was crying because the lights are so fucking bright) “We have a picture of Batman right here!” (Bats is unavailable so the League is left to be stupid on their own)

Matt’s just like, “Why would my best friend be called Batman? If anything I’m Batman.” (He’s making an echolocation joke)

And the League is just like whoah a blind Batman!

And he’s all yeah it happened when I was a kid what’s the big deal?

So now the Justice League think he’s Bruce Wayne from a timeline where he was blinded when he lost his parents.

And another misunderstanding happens when Matt asks if the Justice League is this world’s version of the Avengers. The JL instantly assume he’s referring to some kind of villainous or tyrannical group and that he’s from one of the bad timelines. (They have a bit of a point on this one given that literally there’s no need to avenge something that is all good.)

Anyway none of think to question why Matt is handling Superman’s powers and super hearing because duh Batman can adapt to anything.

Meanwhile Matt, who is not Batman is mostly freaking out on the inside because WTF is going on? He can see which is a whole bunch of information he doesn’t know how to deal with. His hearing is still good but his sense of touch is shot. Like seriously, Matt feels like he could shrug off being hit by a bus. What is up with that?

In another universe entirely, Clark gets punched in the face and OW that really hurts! Suddenly he’s fighting blind, literally, and his powers aren’t working! What’s going on? Kryptonite? Ugh, a kick to the stomach, how does Bats walk this stuff off?!?

Somehow he makes it out of that fight, stumbling to a place he can take a moment to think. A quick pat down reveals he’s not in his own body so retreat is definitely in order. But where? He doesn’t even know where or who he is!

Luckily it’s a Team Red team up and Spidey and Deadpool soon notice their Double D looking not so hot. Spider-Man panics because it’s gotta be bad if Daredevil is showing pain. He picks him up and leaps into the air to get him to Matt’s apartment. Anyway Clark now knows what it’s like to be carried by super strong and fast teammate and he’s not sure he likes it.

Deadpool meets them back at the apartment maybe through his fourth wall breaking powers knows what’s going on? Anyway he decides to be a troll and convinces Clark that Spider-Man is made out of spiders while Peter is in the bathroom. Then they tuck Clark in to bed and tell him to call out sick to work.

He does but since that would be out of character for Matt Foggy shows up demanding to know what is going on. Clark is in a world of hurt. Who knew getting beat up could feel this bad? And this guy keeps insisting that he’s always worked through it before, are you dying? And now Clark has a new appreciation for humans.

Don’t know how to wrap this up but once their 24 hours are up Matt and Clark switch back. Maybe logic users from both sides undo it or something.

I know this is a crazy premise but I kept reading fanfics that mention Superman’s hearing and the idea wouldn’t leave me.

I feel like @thedragonqueen1998’s idea that was shared on Subnautica Sea Emperor Desmond idea should be its own post:

Yes! With this setup, Ezio could become a "proper" Prophet. XD I actually love making Desmond a Great One from Bloodborne with Ezio as his prophet in my daydreams. Mostly use the setup of Desmond tried to send him and Ezio back in time to give Ezio his family back, but Juno interviend and sent them to another dimension. Now, with Desmond trying to learn his new body and powers and with Ezio the only one allowed to percieve him without madness or injury, they try to find a way back home. Sometimes Ezio snd the new Brotherhood is brutally murdered and Desmond bring Ezio back to life as one of the twisted creatures we see in the game or they return home, where Ezio family is very concerned for him because he is now straight up worshipping a god and is 100% going to get burned at the stake for the shit he is throwing at the Church and God himself. Ezio has no worries because Desmond would never allow harm to come to him. Ezio uses this to perform miracles. Like cutting himself, walking into fires etc. He also does some healing as Desmond loves to dote on him and Ezio wishes to show how awesome Desmond is. XD

Imma be honest, I didn’t even get as far as the first boss (not counting the tutorial boss) in Bloodborne so this is gonna be more generic and maybe a bit more like the ttrpg Call of Cthulhu setup XD

I’m imagining that Ezio went through a very Bloodborne-esque adventure in the different dimension with the ‘blessing’ of his patron, newly born ‘Great One’ Desmond who doesn’t really know his powers yet other than his connection to Ezio makes him effectively immortal.

So when they return to their world, perhaps a few months (a year?) before the death of his father and brothers, Ezio’s just a little bit… ‘mad’. Being a Great One does change Desmond not just physically and Ezio is receiving a bit of feedback from that because he is the prophet who has direct connection to his god.

This might end up with Ezio making his own Brotherhood which is, really, more of a cult than the usual Brotherhood cult-y way because they are worshiping Desmond and doing stuff in his name.

Even Desmond is like “okay, we need to tone it down a bit otherwise we’re gonna have a holy war in our hands” and decided to create an artificial human to act as a counterbalance to Ezio.

I saw someone do a ranking of the Earthsea books and they put Tehanu at the bottom because they thought it was boring and nothing happened I'm like??? That's kind of the point?? To examine what life looks like from the perspective of people who are denied power and autonomy and have to regularly deal with sitting on the sidelines. To dissect power itself, what we assign value to and what we *ought* to assign more value to. I'll grant you that its a much more meditative, conversationally reflective fantasy book, but you don't have to have big action pieces with magic and dragons for it to be good! And the Earthsea books are all about deconstructing fantasy tropes anyway, I'm just a little irritated by such a blind take.
