While we are having a session I dont want you to think - if i told her this what will she think of me and blah2 . Please dont ever think like that there are different types of people and shitty situations keep on happening around the world everyday so its pretty normal .

I'm not sure if this breaks your rules, but is it ok of me to request wholesome headcanons of Glamrock Freddy x human female reader being a family with their adopted son Gregory?
—⊱ Family Isn’t Just Blood ⊰ || Freddy X Reader
╭─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╮ Character(s): Glamrock Freddy (FNaF: Security Breach), Gregory (FNaF: Security Breach) Reader Type: Human (Gender-Neutral Pronouns) Warning(s): Spoilers for the Canon Ending of Security Breach, Reader is a Parental Figure for Gregory Genre: Headcanons/Scenario, Fluff (Slight Hurt/Comfort), Romantic or Platonic Relationship Word Count: ~800 words Request: “I'm not sure if this breaks your rules, but is it ok of me to request wholesome headcanons of Glamrock Freddy x human female reader being a family with their adopted son Gregory?” Author’s Note: Don’t worry, this doesn’t break my rules at all! I don’t know why, but I had a hard time writing this one for some reason? Might be because it’s my first time writing for Freddy since, at least up until now, all of my FNAF writing has been strictly Sun/Moon content haha. Hopefully you like it and I was able to do your request justice! These headcanons ended up being gender-neutral since I write using you/your pronouns and didn’t feel the need to specify the Reader’s gender; I hope you don’t mind!
→ If you enjoyed my work, please reblog it if you can! Exposure on Tumblr is based on reblogging content rather than liking it, so your support would be much appreciated! ♡ ╰─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╯
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
🐻: You and Freddy had known each other for quite some time considering you both worked together in the Pizzaplex, him being one of the main attractions while you were just a cashier at El Chip’s. Over the many months of your employment there, the two of you had grown quite close and become very good friends in the process (really, it was hard not being friends with Freddy considering he was one of the sweetest beings you’ve ever met). However, you never expected to open your front door one rainy night and see said animatronic with a small, human boy held tightly in his arms.
🐻: Freddy apparently knew your address from your employee file in the system which explained how he was able to find your apartment so easily. However, that didn’t stop you from having a mini panic attack at seeing your robotic coworker miles away from the Pizzaplex (that he wasn’t supposed to be able to leave) with a random child alongside him with cuts and bruises. Eventually, after realizing you were making them both stand outside in the rain, you stepped aside and allowed both of your guests to enter your home. Freddy stood next to the couch where he had just set the sleeping young boy, solemnly telling you what had happened that night. He explained to you the glitch that caused his fellow animatronics to try and kill the child sleeping on your sofa, the Pizzaplex being built on top of an old pizzeria, and the fire that caused your prior workplace to burn to the ground. Since he and the boy (Freddy informed you that his name was Gregory) had nowhere else to go, you decided to allow them to stay with you.
🐻: The first few weeks were a bit… strange. You had lived by yourself for many years at that point, so suddenly having an animatronic and a child living with you was certainly a change you had to get used to (not to mention the fact you were now unemployed). Eventually, you decided to ask Freddy about Gregory’s parents and how they had come to become acquainted. Freddy could only shake his head and tell you regretfully, “he doesn’t have any parents.” After that moment, you found yourself trying harder to connect with Gregory, wanting to make him feel wanted and loved as much as you could as some random person who Freddy trusted enough to rely on.
🐻: It took Gregory quite some time to warm up to you. While he wasn’t ever directly rude to you, he always seemed to have his guard up. You only ever saw his barriers come down when he was around Freddy. After months of living together with your unexpected roommates, one morning at breakfast as you handed him his plate filled to the brim with his favorites, Gregory called you his parent for the first time. You got a bit more emotional than you expected when the title came out of his mouth, your reaction only causing Gregory to feel embarrassed at his slip-up (you didn’t take any offense, though – he got embarrassed every time he accidentally called Freddy “dad” which happened quite a lot). Freddy just gave the both of you a thumbs-up and the widest smile you’ve ever seen on his face.
🐻: Freddy is a wonderful roommate and co-parent(?). He frequently helps around the house, whether it be cleaning or attempting to making dinner, and is always able to comfort Gregory. While Gregory has slowly become closer to you, you’ve never been able to help him whenever he wakes up from nightmares that you don’t know the content of. You two were already friends when you both worked at the Pizzaplex but, since living together, you’ve only gotten closer to one another; you went from being strictly workplace-friends to actual best friends. However, sometimes Freddy finds himself in a slump, thinking back to his friends he wasn’t able to save; he never shows any signs of these feelings in front of Gregory, though. When those moments happen, you’re always right there by his side, holding him tightly in a hug as you tell him softly that he did everything he possibly could in that situation.
🐻♥: If you and Freddy end up finding yourselves in more romantic than platonic-relationship territory, Gregory is going to have to deal with a very lovey-dovey set of parents. Freddy is an affectionate individual; he loves nuzzling his face against yours and giving you the lightest kisses across your cheeks. However, sometimes, Gregory just happens to be there when your PDA goes off the charts. All he’ll do is gag, telling you two to “get a room!” before running off to his own to play with his toys. While Freddy is certainly a very sweet and understanding person, he does have a slight mischievous streak to him and that certainly shows in your relationship, especially if you’re easily flustered by physical affection.

I think this week I'll count but not restrict (My breaks between fasts have only be a couple of hours so I'm oly eating 1500 or less anyway which is a solid 800 below my bmr allegedly), and then in November start brigning down my limit gradually to a place I'm comfortable with. For now though, 48 hour soft-fast, only cup soup, sugar fre jelly, and sweetened tea/coffee and maybe fruit juice diluted 1:3 with water.

What Is 7 Figure Commission System?
The 7-Figure Commission System, designed to eliminate the burdens of website creation, product gathering, and promotional campaigns. Developed by the renowned product developer Glynn Kosky, this system distinguishes itself by catering specifically to beginners. Its primary focus lies in empowering users to earn up to 100% in commissions for multiple products within the 7-Figure Commission System. With this program, all the laborious tasks are taken care of on your behalf. The underlying concept behind this system revolves around giving away free items to individuals and capitalizing on their interests.
While not everyone who receives the freebie will become a paying customer, this approach has proven to be successful time and time again, employing a simple yet highly effective strategy. Prospects are asked to provide their email address in exchange for the free product, after which they are automatically guided through one of Glynn's sales funnels, encouraging them to make a purchase. All the marketing and selling aspects are handled for you, alleviating the need to create products, worry about customer service, build funnels, or manage to ship.
Your main focus will be driving traffic to their landing page. However, as a newcomer, generating traffic can be a challenging skill that needs to be learned, refined, and maintained. One of the program's advantages is free to access to a private Facebook group, where a supportive community of individuals who are also clients of Glynn Kosky awaits. Each member shares the common goal of making money online, and many are willing to provide assistance. Being part of such a supportive community significantly enhances your chances of success, sparing you the need to invest in ads and risk financial losses.
The system provides numerous effective methods for driving free traffic to your product or service, as outlined in one of the complimentary bonuses available to all customers who purchase this product. Coach H NBIN 2023 Announcing Schedule
Dear Families and Student Athletes of Massachusetts Track and Field,
I am writing to you today with a profound sense of sincerity, humility and gratitude, so please bare with me if I seem somewhat scattered. It is not often I get nervous or anxious to express myself, but in this circumstance I can only feel what I feel. For the last five years I have connected with you, whether it be from interviews, preview shows, live play-by-play commentary or simply a selfie. Now, I am able to say that my mantra - Dreams are Tangible Goals - has paid off for me in the biggest way possible: I am proud to announce that I will be part of the New Balance Indoor Nationals 2023 Broadcast team.
I started coaching in 2013 as an Assistant Coach at South Boston High School with my friend and former 800 Meter National Champion Said Ahmed. I entered the Coaching fraternity seeking to make a difference in the lives of the student-athletes in the Boston Public Schools. Despite my desire and intentions, I never thought that my words would inspire, motivate, and resonate with people from various walks of life from all around the world the way that I see them.
Sport is a very powerful tool that can connect people from different social and economic backgrounds. I’ve realized this despite the positive and negative experiences I have had in the realm - and I am grateful for the plethora of emotions my journey has allowed me to feel.
My role as a commentator and content creator has changed my life forever. My only goal has always been to make sure that every kid that I encounter - or who encounters me - has a memorable experience.
The sports of Cross Country & Track and Field are the toughest sports out there, but they don’t get nearly the proper coverage they deserve. I am truly honored that you have given me a chance to bring these sports to you in a personal and informative way.
This is why I am so grateful to be a part of the NBIN 2023 Broadcast team. Below is my schedule for the four days of NBIN.
My performance will be dedicated to my All #MyHomeGirls, #MyMainMan’s out there grinding> It will be dedicated to all the families nationwide and worldwide who have always tuned in with me over the course of the years.
Thank you Cooper & Dave from Trials By Miles for supporting me in this process. I want to say a special thank you and a huge salute to Andy Downin, Mary Lawton and most importantly Tom Carleo from New Balance in believing in my talent and giving a local boy an opportunity of a lifetime.
I promise that I will do my best to ensure this is THE GREATEST NATIONAL EVER now that Coach H is involved!
Don’t forget to Hashtag all weekend long #MyMainMan #MyHomeGirl Twitter #nbnationals | Instagram #nbnationals
The Fastest Party on the planet is going to be in my backyard and I am putting on my dancing shoes ladies and gentlemen - I CANNOT WAIT! Good luck to all the student-athletes, near and far. Enjoy the experience and never forget it!
Most Sincerely,
Coach H

Part One, Part Three, Part Four, Part Five
-----
Light. The sound of curtains.
“Rise and shine, girls! Quidditch is today!”
No.
Your eyes immediately opened, only to be blinded by the sunlight filtering in through the window. But as soon as you were able to see, you zoned in on the one thing in the room that held your interest: the calendar above the door.
Saturday February 2nd, 1996.
With no ounce of hesitation you leapt out of bed. This couldn’t be happening.
“Damn, Y/N! I didn’t know you liked Quidditch that much!” Angelina laughed. But you were only half listening, hastily pulling on your clothes. By the time you were dressed and ready, Angelina was already leading the way out of the room down the stairs. You anxiously walking down behind her, wishing with all your heart that Fred and George would not be in the common room.
“Just think Y/N. Now you get to see- Fred! George! What are the two of you doing up?”
And there they were. Just like yesterday.
“Habit.”
“What he said.”
But all you could do was stand still at the base of the stairs, staring out as yesterday's scene replayed in front of you.
“Well then you can join us for breakfast before the game.” And as expected George offered his arm, which Angelina took. Alicia trailing behind them out of the portrait. Fred lingering behind, looking at you.
“You okay, love?”
You wished he hadn’t asked. You shook your head frantically. He took a step towards you, which made you stumble backwards into the stairs. Fred was next to you in the next breath, hovering over your collapsed frame.
“Y/N? What is going on?” His brown eyes held so much concern that for a moment the words almost slipped out. But instead you allowed him to help you stand and help you to the couch before you began to think about what to say.
Do I tell him? Would he believe me? Is this just some crazy dream?
But looking up at Fred told you all you needed to know. He’d believe you. For Godric's sake you lived in a magical castle and could make objects fly at a flick of a wand, of course it couldn’t be too far fetched.
So you turned to face him head on. “Fred, this is going to sound crazy.”
He shrugged and smiled, putting his arm on the back of the couch next to your head. “Try me.”
You took a deep breath. “I think I’m stuck in a time loop.”
Fred blinked and furrowed his brows. “Sorry?”
“I said, I think I’m stuck-”
“No. No. I heard you.”
A cynical laugh bubbled out from your throat as you stood and began to pace in front of the fireplace. You stopped for a moment to stare at Fred. “But you don’t believe me.”
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just there’s never been-”
“You don’t know that.” You wrapped your arms around yourself, feeling more lonely than ever. Your best friend didn’t believe you. If he didn’t, who would? Were you going to be stuck in February 2nd, 1996 forever? Do you even age?
Fred stood up and placed his hands on your arms, steadying you. “Just tell me what happened.”
“Nothing really happened, Fred. But today is the third day it’s been February 2nd. Quidditch is today-” A thought struck you, your gaze snapped back to Fred. “Quidditch is today!!”
Fred looked even more dubious than ever. “Yes?”
But you simply grabbed his hand and bolted for the portrait, pulling him behind you. The portrait swung open and you took off like a bullet down the halls and down the staircases.
“Where are we going?!” Fred shouted breathlessly from behind you.
“I can prove it!”
You didn’t let him go until you made it to the Quidditch pitch where the crowds were already seated. You tugged him up into the stands you had sat in for two days. There were two seats saved next to George, as you’d hoped and you tugged Fred into one of those two seats.
“Where were you guys?” George asked, peering past Fred to look at you.
“Talking.” You quickly responded before turning back to Fred.
“About what?” George continued.
You glanced at George and saw an opportunity. “Talking about our predictions for the game.”
George laughed and raised a brow. “Six sickles Gryffindor wins.”
You leaned back in your seat. “One galleon that Gryffindor wins 340-20. Angelina scores the first goal and the last goal. Ron plays near perfectly and makes an incredible block by standing on his broom. Chang almost gets hit by a bludger twice and Ginny catches the Snitch-” You checked your watch. “In exactly 2 hours and 14 minutes.” You held out your hand to George who was gapping, but not more than Fred’s who was staring at you with a look of awe.
George seemed to shake off whatever shock he had and grabbed your hand shaking it recklessly. “You’re on, Y/L/N!”
“Welcome to today's Quidditch game between Ravenclaw and GRYFFINDOR!” Lee screamed over the pitch.
And then you sat back and watched the game play out. And everything came to pass just as you said it would. A part of you wanted something to fall out of line. For once in your life you wanted to be wrong.
But your ‘predictions’ were perfect, as you knew they would be.
When Ginny caught the Snitch and the game was over with the scoreboard reading 340-20, George grabbed your hand and pressed a galleon in it. “I don’t know how you knew that, but I’m bloody impressed.” And with that he took off down the stairs of the stands, following the Gryffindor crowds to presumably begin the celebrations in the common room.
But Fred didn’t move. Didn’t even look at you.
The galleon felt heavy in hand. “Do you believe me now?” You whispered.
You heard him sigh. “I never disbelieved you, love.” He turned to look at you, grabbing your face in his hands to make you look at him. His hands were rough and yet still the hold he had on you was gentle. It was almost loving. His lips curled into an even gentler smile. “How can I help?”
It felt like a weight being lifted off your shoulders. But at the same time, it was at that moment you were forced to admit it was not a dream.
“Let’s start at the library.” He nodded and the two of you got up and made your way down the stairs and back into the castle.
“So what’s the plan?” Fred asked as the two of you stood in the entrance of the library.
“I guess we just start looking for books about time magic.” And so you did. You pulled every book imaginable on magic dealing with time. You had books about time travel, stopping time, fast forwarding time, time warps, the list went on and on. You felt certain you would find something.
But you didn’t.
Not in any of those books did it mention anything about time loops. The closest you came was to individual objects being stuck in time loops within a world that still moved normally around it. But that didn’t apply here. It wasn’t as if you were an egg being turned into a bird and then back into an egg as time moved around you. No. It was like the entire world was forced from egg to bird and you were the only one who remembered it was ever an egg.
“This is hopeless.” You glanced at your watch. 11:57. “We’re almost out of time.”
Fred smirked and shrugged. “We can always try again today, tomorrow.” You sent him a withering glare. He scratched the back of his neck, but his smile didn’t waver. “Too soon?”
But you couldn’t help the slight smile that broke through. “Might as well laugh. But don’t be surprised if I make that joke today, tomorrow.”
In an instant, Fred launched around the table and grabbed you. His hands began to tickle your sides as you squealed in laughter.
“You can’t steal my jokes!”
“St-sto-stop it! Fre-FRED!” You managed to say between your fits of giggles. But Fred wouldn’t ease up.
“Say you won’t steal my joke! Say it! I’m not letting you go until you say it!” True to his word he continued his tickling assault.
“Fi-fine! I-I won’t steal your-steal your joke!” And just like that, his hands stopped. Instead they latched themselves to the corners of the back of your chair, so he was leaning over you. The both of you were panting, broad smiles on your faces.
“Thank you.” He whispered breathlessly.
It was then that you noticed how close the two of you were. Close enough that if you leaned up a few inches, you would meet.
Almost unconsciously you began to lean forward as Fred began to descend. You closed your eyes and reached for his neck.
And then light.
“Rise and shine, girls! Quidditch is today!”
“NO!” You sat up in your bed. Saturday, February 2nd 1996 glaring down at you.
Angelina was looking at you weirdly, standing by the window with the curtains still in her hands. But you didn’t care. You whipped out of bed and pulled whatever clothes were on the floor and closest to you.
Without waiting, you flung yourself down the stairs only halting right at the corner when you heard voices. Fred and George.
“Your hair looks fine, stop messing with it.” George groaned.
You heard some shuffling. “Piss off, George.”
“You’re just jealous you’re not as handsome as me.” The sound of a hit echoed into the stairwell. As upset as you were, you couldn’t help but smile.
“Did you skip the mirror this morning, mate? I’m clearly the more handsome twin.”
Footsteps sounded from behind you, and in a moment Angelina’s face appeared with Alicia hot on her heels.
“There you are! What was with the outburst this morning?” She looped her arm around yours and dragged you down the steps into the common room. “Well on the bright side now you get to see-”
Don’t say it. Don’t say it.
“Fred! George! What are the two of you doing up?”
Habit.
“Habit.”
What he said.
“What he said.”
“Well then you can join us for breakfast before the game.” Angelina left you to join George and was out of the common room with Alicia before you could blink. Fred, once again, stayed behind.
You looked at him right as he was about to open his mouth.
“No. I’m not okay. Yes, you can help me.” You pointed to the nearest chair. “Sit down and I’ll explain.” Fred was looking at you like a deer in the headlights, but nodded and sat down. You began to pace in front of him. “I’m stuck in a time loop. It’s day four of me living February 2nd. Gryffindor is going to win the match today. Ron makes an excellent save, Ginny catches the Snitch, score is 340-20. Everyone comes back here gets drunk off their asses and goes to bed. I told you all of this yesterday-” You glanced at him sadly. “And I can tell you don’t remember, but we’ve already looked through nearly every book in the library about time loops so I need your help to get me unstuck.” You planted your hands on your hips, biting your lip. You were nervous he wouldn’t believe you. But honestly if he didn’t, you would just have to keep looking.
But after a minute of silence, Fred shrugged and nodded. “Okay.”
The two of you spent your day in the library, looking at books on potions, ancient runes, anything that could possibly be some sort of antidote to your situation. But nothing worked.
And time ran out.
You woke up again on Saturday February 2nd, 1996. You explained it to Fred again. He tried to help. Nothing worked. And you woke up again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
Until it had been a month of the same day.
You had told Angelina not today when she pulled open the curtains. It took her awhile to leave you, but at this point you knew exactly what to say to get her to leave the quickest possible.
You had tried every potion antidote, read every rune, you’d even tried talking to Professor McGonagall. But it was all pointless. Every night at 11:59 you fell asleep and every morning you woke up on February 2nd.
You had been dreading this moment for weeks. The moment you’d resort to something you weren’t sure would actually work and could have irreversible consequences.
But you needed to try everything if you wanted a chance to see February 3rd. Tiredly, you pulled on your clothes not bothering to put any effort in. If this worked there would be no need to get dressed fancily. And if it didn’t? Well you’d either wake up tomorrow or-
You shook your head trying not to think of the or.
You resolutely walked down the stairs, wringing your hands nervously.
“Y/N?” Your eyes widened as you glanced up to see Fred standing at the foot of the stairs.
“Fr-Fred?” You stuttered, hurriedly clearing your throat so as to not completely give yourself away.
He looked a little bashful but held up a little package. Chocolate Frogs. “Angelina told me you weren’t feeling well so I figured I’d bring you a Chocolate Frog to make you feel better.”
Your heart broke a little at that. But you pushed his hand down. “Keep it.” And then you kissed his cheek and made your way out of the portrait.
Tears slipped down your cheek. You weren’t even sure this would work, but you were still scared.
The walk to the Astronomy tower was shorter than you anticipated, but you steeled your nerves when you arrived.
The sun was still reaching over the tops of the trees, making everything have a soft warm glow. You hoped this worked. You strolled over to the balcony and peered down. You hoped that it wouldn’t hurt. No matter the outcome, you prayed it wouldn’t hurt.
You stepped over the railing and looked out.
The Quidditch pitch in the distance. Students beginning to make their way over, laughing and joking with each other. You could see Luna Lovegood's brilliant lion headdress from that far as she strolled next to who you guessed was Neville Longbottom.
“Y/N?” You heard a broken voice from behind you. You stumbled, startled at the voice you wanted least to hear. Your hands let go of the railing.
And you fell.
“NO!” Fred’s shout rang out like a gunshot. You twisted midair to see Fred hanging over the railing. His face was twisted in pain, tears pouring down his cheeks as he desperately reached for you.
And his face was the last thing you saw before you hit the ground.
------
“Rise and shine, girls! Quidditch is today!”
For the first time in a month, you were glad to hear it. And then you remembered, that the one thing you were relying on being the answer was suddenly crossed off the list.
And then you remembered Fred’s face. The look that would haunt your nightmares for weeks, as if your life wasn’t a walking nightmare already.
You groaned loudly and pulled the covers back over your head.
“Not today, Angelina. I think I’m gonna sleep this one away.”
You didn’t bother to listen to her response as you closed your eyes and fell back asleep desperately trying to ignore the way the word no replayed in your head.

For Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora, music was the key to unlock a long-held sense of disconnection
Interview by Andrew McMillen for The Weekend Australian (June 1st, 2019).
Music writer Andrew McMillen meets Icelandic sensation Aurora ahead of her album release
As a child, Aurora Aksnes grew up in a town not far from Bergen, in southwestern Norway, surrounded by a forest, ocean, space and plenty of silence — fertile grounds in which to plant seeds of imagination.
Her two older sisters, Miranda and Viktoria, were worried that her strangeness — especially her out-there dress sense — would make her a target for bullies. “We were so scared that it was going to be tough for you to go to high school,” her sisters say in a video published in 2016. “But everybody loved you.”
Singing, songwriting and playing piano became her three fascinations; all activities she could indulge on her lonesome. This began in childhood and continued into her adolescence, when she was plucked from obscurity and essentially asked whether she wanted to pursue a career in music. She said yes, and she hasn’t looked back. In that same video from 2016, filmed in Bergen with her friends and family, and released to coincide with her debut album, Aurora says, “Music is not something that you should keep for yourself. It can’t be put in a cage because it’s wild and alive.”
On stage in Brisbane on a Monday night early last month, the blue-eyed and blonde artist is midway through a powerful 90-minute set. Dressed in red and flanked by a live band that produces pulsating electronic pop, the 22-year-old pauses between songs to address the 800-strong capacity crowd at the Triffid.
“I feel like I’m in this room with friends,” she says. “It’s a nice feeling because I feel so often disconnected to humans. I feel very lucky because I don’t know how the hell I got here. I don’t know how I became an artist — but I do know that it’s 90 per cent because of you guys.
“Without you, it’s an empty room; without you, there’s no one that gives my words power.”
Then, with a nod to her drummer and co-producer Magnus Skylstad, the band kicks into the next track as the lights change colour and the crowd thrills to her music.
She does not so much perform as inhabit these songs, as if singing them for the first time. There’s not a trace of self-consciousness; instead, the young woman dancing centre stage, microphone in hand, exudes a contagious freedom and vitality. Here, among friends, she is adored. Two days later, in the hours before another Groovin the Moo festival sideshow in Fremantle, Aurora perks up when reminded of her philosophy that music cannot be caged.
“Oh, yes, it’s very true, and that’s why I know I have to share it,” she tells Review. “When I perform, that’s why I’m so excited; it’s like the music is too big for my tiny shape of a body. I feel very explosive when I perform. That’s the whole point in why I started sharing the music: if you have the gift of making music, it’s like we’re on a mission, we people who can translate the music into something that the rest of the world can understand.”
In a relatively short time, the rest of the world has come to understand and appreciate Aurora’s art. While the story of her ascent from small-town anonymity to filling clubs and playing festivals on the other side of the planet is somewhat typical of the streaming era, the results are certainly not.
It goes like this: after uploading a song online in 2012, when she was 16, what was intended as a Christmas gift for her parents found its way to the ears of an agent, which set in motion an unexpected but welcome recording career. Since 2015, she has released an EP, a debut album — 2016’s All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend — and a follow-up LP that has been split into two halves, released last year and this year.
As well, a couple of well-chosen cover songs have helped to highlight her extraordinary, singular vocal abilities and opened up new audiences.
First in 2015, her stark take on Half the World Away by Oasis featured in a prominent British Christmas advertisement; it remains one of her most-played songs on streaming services. Then on an Australia visit in 2017, she recorded a spellbinding cover of Massive Attack’s Teardrop for Triple J’s Like a Version segment. It has since attracted nearly seven million YouTube views.
In turn, the global response to her music during the past four years has led to a pleasant awakening: her work matters.
“I want to do this as long as I feel like people need me to do this,” she says. “Right now, I feel very needed. It’s a job that the world needs because being a human is so hard and music sometimes makes it easier. As long as I feel needed, I’ll do it. I’ll be an artist forever; I’m a very hungry woman, and I like to dance and paint, and I want to explore and eventually share that with the world, too.”
In conversation, Aurora comes across as remarkably grounded and insecurity-free. A month out from the release of A Different Kind of Human (Step 2) — usually a time of peak anxiety and uncertainty among recording artists, who will soon learn whether their latest work is judged to be their greatest or otherwise — she shrugs and says that she doesn’t really have any particular hopes or expectations for it. “Whatever will happen will happen,” she says. “I’m already working on my next album; I feel quite far away from this album. I hope at least one person will really love it. It is quite diverse, with many different moods and personalities. I am quite excited to perform the songs live, but it doesn’t really matter how people perceive it.
“Some people will always understand it and appreciate it, and that’s enough.” Between songs at the Triffid, Aurora talks a lot, and she’s often funny and endearing.
‘ In the beginning I didn’t really talk because I didn’t have anything to say. But then I learned that if you do talk to the audience, people tend to feel more safe and more connected to you’ Aurora Aksnes
“We’ve been doing all these shows in Australia, and it’s so strange we can have our own show in Brisbane and there are people here waiting for us,” she says at the beginning. “From the bottom of my huge heart and small tits — actually, no, they are quite big — thank you so, so much for coming tonight.”
Later, she admits to feeling some snotty congestion: “It’s kind of loosening up now as I’m dancing and making its journey down my throat. It tastes like salt and I don’t know how I feel about that.” But while introducing Through the Eyes of a Child, she turns serious for a few moments.
“Sometimes it’s hard to find people to talk to about your pain because it makes us feel like a burden, or we are taught to feel like a burden when we are not happy,” she says. “I know you’re all here for a reason. Maybe you’re a bit like me: you’re emotional or you look a bit different on the inside or the outside. This next song is for you if you’re going though a hard time.”
This connection with her audience is real and rare, but it wasn’t always this way.
“In the beginning I didn’t really talk because I didn’t have anything to say,” she tells Review. “But then I learned that if you do talk to the audience, people tend to feel more safe and more connected to you. You show them a special thing they don’t usually see unless they go to my show. It’s like they’re my friend or I’m their friend. I do have mouth diarrhoea because I tend to talk way too much, but it just happens. I do what I want and, at the moment, I feel like talking a lot.”
Aurora’s cover of the Massive Attack hit Teardrop, performed for Triple J’s Like a Version segment, has attracted nearly seven million YouTube views
There’s another aspect of her artistry that has changed in recent years, too. “I used to feel nervous before shows, but then it stopped because I realised it’s obvious I know what I’m doing,” she says. “I know why I’m here; I know how to do this. Now, I find it more scary to be among people or to have a one-to-one conversation with someone. I know what to do on the stage and it feels like it’s important.”
With shows booked up to December, including an extensive 20date tour of Norway, her recent Australian trip will soon be in the rear-view mirror. While travelling here, however, she was particularly inspired by our native trees, which she found to be vastly different compared with those in her homeland, so perhaps the sights and sounds of our country may feed back into her future art.
Yet watching her on stage, before an audience completely in tune with her voice and body, the philosophy she outlined in that video a few years ago comes to mind. Aurora can’t be put in a cage, because she is wild and alive. Luckily for us, her music is not something she has kept for herself.
A Different Kind of Human (Step 2) is released on Friday via Glassnote Records.
