List of Official Philippine Public holidays and Long-weekend schedule for 2018
Malacañang Palace and the Office of the President has already announced the Full List of Regular and Non-Working Holidays in the Philippines for the upcoming calendar year, 2018. This means people can plan ahead their weekends away from the city or vacations out of the country as early as now.
Long Weekends in the Philippines
The announcement, which was legalized when the Philippine President signed Proclamation No. 269 last week, confirms there will be ten regular holidays and five special, non-working commemoration holidays in 2018. Additionally, three extra non-working days have been added too.
The list, however, still does not include the national holidays for Eid’l Fitr (end of the month-long fast during Ramadan) and Eid’l Adha as the dates for these Islamic holidays are yet to be determined.
Proclamations for their respective dates will follow.
The following are the regular holidays and special non-working holidays for 2018. This already includes the nights when the holidays start.
January 1 – New Year’s Day February 16 – Chinese New Year February 25 – EDSA Revolution Anniversary March 29 – Maundy Thursday March 30 – Good Friday March 31 – Black Saturday April 9 – Araw ng Kagitingan May 1 – Labor Day June 12 – Independence Day August 21 – Ninoy Aquino Day August 27 – National Heroes Day November 1 – All Saints’ Day November 2 – All Souls’ Day November 30 – Bonifacio Day December 24 – pre-Christmas Day December 25 – Christmas Day December 30 – Rizal Day December 31 – last day of the year
Based on this list, it can be seen that there are at least eight long weekends in the upcoming year. In fact, 2018 will start with a long weekend as the New Year will immediately follow the Rizal Day and the Media Noche holidays.
2018 Long Weekend Holidays in the Philippines
The longest weekends so far will happen as usual in the Holy Week and Christmas week, both with five days. The Holy Week will start in the evening of March 28 and will finish on April 1 while Christmas week will happen on December 21-25.
The following is the complete list of long weekends in 2018:
December 29, 2017 – January 1, 2018 February 15, 2018 – February 18, 2018 March 28, 2018 – April 1, 2018 April 6, 2018 – April 9, 2018 August 24, 2018 – August 27, 2018 October 31, 2018 – November 4, 2018 November 29, 2018 – December 2, 2018 December 21, 2018 – December 25, 2018 December 28, 2018 – December 31, 2018
