We moved from the USA to London at the end of 1967. In the summer of 1968, we took a holiday to Ireland. We visited relatives in Cork and got delayed on the trip because one of my sister’s got appendicitis. She went off to hospital and the rest of us, 5 siblings, stayed on a farm for a couple of weeks. My father went off to play golf while the rest of us found ways to spend the time.  I enjoyed life on the farm and found places to sit and read, surrounded by the smells, sounds and visuals of the days.
