FoC Fluff Trivia #6
I’ll be making a special edition post for this ask!
Here’s some gossip (short lived and long standing) that Marie has talking about. Theyre noted as ‘wilder’ because of how the rest of Chaldea viewed these compared to her usual innocent ponderings & matchmaking hobby. Ones marked with a ✔ are confirmed to be true.
Sampler Platter of Marie’s Wilder Gossip
✔ Chaldea would build a mall at some point.
✔ Chaldea would have a school for the servant children.
Chaldea was built by aliens and Marisbilly was their translator.
Anishka’s timely arrival at the gym at the same time as Delaqua’s workout schedule is not coincidence.
Parvati, Ishtar, & Arturia secretly share Emiya. Sometimes on the same night.
✔ Gilgamesh can be kind.
Roman’s secret folders are very deviant and kinky to the point he could get arrested.
✔ Da Vinci & the masters have created a list of “things servants aren’t allowed to do.” Okita has a secret copy to better direct the Peacekeepers.
✔ If Arturia ever grew up, her adult figure would be a sex symbol.
Arturia’s knights pamper Boudica as a secret rivalry to try and be the one to woo the kind queen into their chamber. Yes, this includes Bedivere.
Arthur is a dashing and chivalrous king, but he’s quite the secret sugar daddy.
Gabby and Gudao have had plenty of ‘heated encounters’ during High School, many of which are cliche scenarios. They never talked about it because it was all casual flings.
Gabby had a passionate threesome with Mashu and Gudao for his birthday gift.
✔ Gabby had a passionate threesome with Medb and Cu.
✔ Rama and Sita are very passionate at night and that’s why Anishka sometimes has a bad night’s rest.
Da Vinci is secretly hiding her and Roman’s love child in her workshop.
Mordred is secretly tired of acting tough all the time and just wants to be pampered all day like a princess heir to the throne.
✔ When she caught wind Skyler broke a leg and arm years ago, she theorized it’s because his chute and backup both failed to open during a military training jump.
Emiya and Cu had a romantic sexual encounter in another timeline (Medb’s joking banter taken too seriously).
Sergei is a pseduo heroic spirit experiment.
✔ Ozymandias’ secret grand prize during the spontaneous festival was an Egyptian Cat.

A bunch of OCs that I collab’d with friends, @etheralavarice and @cosmicfails. Meet the Zanni Troupe, a bunch of jester/harlequin/clown people who sorta act like mercs or soldiers. They have their own unique, specialized roles to contribute to the Troupe. More info under the cut:
Mordre is the Zanni Menor, a small, unassuming character, who speaks almost always in rhyme, however he tends to mess up his own rhyming very often and break character by a loud swear. At first glance, he seems nothing out of the ordinary, but he is actually an automaton, a doll brought to life by magic. As the Zanni Menor, his role is stealth and espionage, his small size and quick, nimble movements enable him to sneak past defenses and evade attacks. His sleeves function like a strange hammerspace, containing a seemingly endless amount of bladed weaponry of all types, no matter how large. He can also store anything within them, he can even fit his fellow Zannis inside for quick, concealed transportation.
Hyena is the Zanni Grande, a tall, slender, looming figure who seems to be a mockery of a proud, boastful icon, for he is anything but. Wracked by crippling trauma and depression, Hyena hides his emotional pain with a helmet he crafted himself, self-depreciating jokes, wickedly dark humor, and a deceptively “proud” and “joyful” tone of voice, paired with giggles that may start to resemble sobbing from time to time. Prone to saying too much about himself, he frequently brings up his severe emotional and mental damage to anyone within earshot, without being asked prior. His legs had been amputated and replaced with pogo stick-like prosthesis that let him leap to higher places, for he is actually an excellent sniper. Wielding a custom made rifle with great accuracy, he picks off his unsuspecting targets before leaping away, the only sign of his presence was a faint, echoing cackle.
Maddison is the Zanni Ambulas. The Ambulas role is not a direct combatant, but rather prefers to support their team or act as a messenger. Maddison is more than happy to fill that role. Maddison is a proud city girl, infatuated with the night life of the Big Apple, and desires nothing more but to bring the magical time of celebration to anyone she can deem a friend. Wielding her trusty golden baton, she marches into the battlefield not to spill blood, but to boost the morale and stamina of her allies with her uplifting Rockefeller Groove to keep them moving. Rhythm and music is a big part of her life, one will always see her bouncing, swaying, and tapping to the beat of her groove. If you let her, she’ll gladly offer you a trip down the funky streets of Rockefeller.
Anathema is the Zanni Latron, the harbinger of war and conflict, at least what she claims to be. She boasts the largest arsenal among her Zanni peers, and knowledge on how to use all of them to go along with it. She is also decorated in what appears to be remains of fallen warriors, but not of her foes. Rather, she collects the remains of her fallen friends, and “honors” them by displaying their bones on her body as a sign of respect. She has a grim outlook on the world, a bit of a nihilist, and really takes her role as the soldier zanni very seriously, but she knows how to have some form of “fun” from time to time.
Twilight is the Zanni Jubilant, the most peppy, joyful, and the fiery of the Zannis. She is easily excited, very playful, and play tricks on anyone, friend or foe. But of course, it’s only her friends that get the little harmless pranks. Her foes, however, get a much more pyromantic treatment: Bombardments of blinding flashes of light, disorienting explosions of brightly colored flame, and a finale of a blazing inferno that can incinerate everything within her immediate vicinity to ashes. Quite the arsonist, Twilight just wants to watch the world burn in colorful fire, with a content grin on her face.
Nadia is the Zanni Superbia. She stands from the sidelines, pulling strings from the battle and manipulator all the players on the field. Nadia loves to toy with both her friends and foes, using psychic threads of fate to string up any person and turn them into her own personal marionettes. Nadia considers herself the most elegant and fine in regards to personal taste, being an avid collector of high quality items of leisure and ornaments... and anyone who falls in her vicinity in the battlefield will find themselves unlucky enough to actually be included in her collection.

FoC Fluff Trivia #01
Mordred has become a lot more tolerant on some things, but calling her “Momo” is still a death sentence unless you’re on of the following:
- One of her fathers... or now aunts or uncles or other confusing things. Not that any of them call her that except Lily. - Emiya, because she gets to call him Mama Shirou, mother, and a whole host of more embarrassing nicknames. - Jekyll, who only teasingly calls her that in private - Astolfo, because good luck getting him to stop anyway - Frankenstein, because Mordred can’t bring herself to tell her off

Fragments of Chaldea Fan-Visuals Contest Official Post
To clear up a lot of confusion, I’ve finally gotten around to designing the full thing.
Can you draw with more skill than stick figures? Then you have a chance for a number of prizes!
As everyone likely knows by now, I come from the Film industry. I’m a screenwriter, and was never an ‘author’ until I took up the now-ambitious Fragments project. However, that had never quenched my interests that came from my other field: Visuals are awesome, and the Fragments Series could use some visuals.
Thus, as a curious way to sate that, I offer a “Fan-Visuals” contest to get the ball rolling. The rules will be straightforward and relatively simple, but split itno two categories.
Contest Rules
=== DEADLINE IS May 1st, 2018. ===
There is no submission limitation. You can submit as many entries as you want. Just remember, the better the overall quality, the higher your chance of winning one of the top three prizes.
No pre-made works allowed (Anything made before the contest was announced on 9 FEB 2018)
Obviously, plagiarism will be an automatic disqualification of that work and any other you submitted.
Submissions can be sent to: [email protected]
Uploading it to your account on an external site like DeviantArt, Tumblr, Pixiv, etc. is also okay! Just show me the link!
Entry Rules
KEY REQUIREMENT: The work must clearly depict something from Fragments of Chaldea.
Your absolute safest bet is to visually depict one of your favorite scenes that can be clearly ‘seperated’ from canon. Obviously this has some gray areas at times, but I’ll try and elaborate.
Example 1: You want to depict something from Their Guiding Light or Redemption from Sin. Be careful about choosing a scene that happened in canon: This enters a gray area. For example, just showing the scene where Fou jumps on Merlin’s face in RFS, or the Lion King using her lance to slam Gawain out of Camelot will not qualify. Something obviously not canon from those singularities, like Astolfo’s hippogriff acting as a mass-taxi, will qualify fine.
Example 2: If you show Frankenstein & Anton, that’s clearly within Fragments of Chaldea’s boundary. If you show Mordred & Jekyll only, that’s not going to qualify because it’s not a clear depiction from the series: They’re a popular ship. If you want to play it safe but draw them, depict one of the scenes.
Example 3: Depicting the Emiya family is probably the biggest gray area because it will be “hard” to depict it as within Fragments of Chaldea. Your best bet if you want to do them is to make it from an obvious scene within the series. One example would be them riding in Kuro’s newly won prize-car back down the 1950′s road. Another would be Emiya helping Kiritsugu through the fiery remains of the TGL village.
Possible Entry ideas (but not limited to this) that would 100% qualify:
A scene with one of FoC’s social groups (Atalanta family, Salon de Marie Staff, etc.)
A picture of one of the OCs
An obvious Slice of Life scene from the series
If you have any questions on the validity of what you want to show, feel free to send a message in some way (ff.net, AO3, or here). If you leave an anonymous message, please be aware I may delay the answer just to group a bunch of them into a FAQ of some sort. PMing me directly is easier and faster.
Additional Info: Any art style is allowed. Digital or handmade drawing/painting, it's all allowed. It’s called “Fan-Visuals” contest because it allows comics, 4-panels, etc. Videos aren’t allowed though. If it’s not a traditional drawing, you also might need to ask me on its validity. I’m a little iffy on 3D model things.
Prizes
(I can only do Yen or USD from the site I use to get the codes, sorry. Maybe someone can show me other options if you win and need a different currency?)
**Second and Third place ALSO get a rare opportunity to request something for the series within reason. It obviously has to be discussed, but it can include many things like possibly moving someone’s appearance/fragment up or showing a very specific scene interaction.
Third Place: Google Play or iTunes $25/3,000 yen card. Second Place: Google Play or iTunes $50/5,000 yen card.
Grand Prize: Pick between one or the other!
Google Play or iTunes $100/10,000 yen card. Plus two special requests for the Fragments Series! (same limits)
OR
My loaded NA Account (which includes fully grailed NP5 Gilgamesh, OG Arturia, NP2 Jeanne, Okita, El-Melloi, Jack, Drake, all Free 4 stars thus far, two Limit-Broken K-Scopes, and a lot more) plus a special request for the Fragments Series! (same limits)
As a note for my account: I will be keeping it up to date the whole time, but juggling both NA and JP is giving me a headache, so that’s why that loaded account is a prize option. I’m not leaving the JP one at all, nor quitting FGO.
Finally: There may be one or multiple hidden prizes to be given out. Who knows what they’ll be? Who knows if you might actually win one?

Umm, I'm curious as to what all of the current ships you have in FoC are if that is okay.
I should probably make a separate post about this and leave it somewhere. This will be as of the latest fragment.
—–
Anton x Frankenstein
Gudao x Mashu
Arturia x Emiya (Can’t exactly spell it EMIYA, if you understand what I mean. He’s not exactly true EMIYA anymore, nor is he quite the regular Shirou either. So, calling it Arturia x Shirou wouldn’t be wrong either.)
Kiritsugu x Irisviel
Cleopatra x Caesar
Medb x Fergus
Mordred x Jekyll
Rama x Sita (Even though she’s not here yet. It’s historic/real though)
Technically Nero & Tamamo x Hakuno too if we want to get into “currently not plausible but definitely stated” ones.
—–
If it’s not listed here, consider it a ship tease regardless of how heavy I may imply it. Maybe something will become Fragments Canon. Maybe I’m just screwing with you guys again. Who knows?

Fragment 45 Insight
Very few could cut the que line, but Arthur had enough links compatibility to make a better fit in this section. This fragment was originally going to be Gawain’s, but I felt he had a lot of show time and development in Their Guiding Light. He’ll have guaranteed scenes next chapter to make up for it, however.
So, we raised the issue earlier with having two of the same servant, but Arthur is able to break the restrictions. As indicated earlier through questions asked, Arthur would not count as a memorial essence because he lived a fairly different life from Arturia in another timeline. There’s a big difference from being a male and pretending to be one, after all, especially when they demeanor and personality are remarkably different at an un-influenced core.
Arthur is already far less rigid than Arturia was when she was summoned. He’s been seen as open and even sometimes teasing. With that in mind, his emotional range was already significantly bigger, so I concentrated on him getting acquainted with those who were hoping he’d arrive, and those he’d run into conflict with.
Not conflict in the aggressive sense, but in terms of recognition and acknowledgement. This isn’t like Joan and Jeanne, where they’re polar opposites. Arturia (at this point in FoC) and Arthur are fairly close in nature. I decided to go with the tried and true family approach. Arthur is no substitute for Kay, but he could certainly act like a concerning big brother since he bristles with chivalry. Add the fact his counterpart could easily pass as his little sister, and the key fits rather nicely.
I was initially going to make a bigger show of pointing out how Arturia/Girlin and Merlin/Arthur share voice actors, but I decided not to. I simply made a one line tease and that was all that was really necessary.
I made the banquet with the Prototype group a tad shorter, but kept the impression it was going very well. For those confused about what happened as the first forms of dinner entertainment, the Medjeb chasing the Sphinx was a Pac Man reference, and the mummies were doing Michael Jackson’s classic Thriller Dance. Who says you can’t get creative?
I gave a top of the hat to Ayaka because of the Bond 10 card for Arthur. The translation for the card has a lot of meaning in it, so I thought it was only right something in Chaldea would spark that interest as well.
I felt there wasn’t enough inclusion of just the masters bonding with a servant, so I slipped in a scene of that for Arthur. He could likely use it to reaffirm his position that not all master’s are bad... or at least, Manaka levels of bad. It also allowed me to drop some other information in regards to master background, which I do on occasion.
Next week, I finally bring the Mordred/Jekyll thing to its conclusion. But who is going to be the one to break the rules of courtesy to help them?

I believe I went over this before back in December, but I can’t even find it myself so I’ll gladly reiterate my stance for you.
To put it bluntly, there will never be a Chaldean Servant death (non-canon, that is) in the FoC series, but I have valid reasons. No, the reason isn’t Shounen-Style.
It’s actually kinda ironic. If you didn’t notice with Their Guiding Light, I have no issue creating my own OCs to get you potentially attached, only to kill them off for development and/or create emotion. I would do the same with the servants too.
But I can’t feasibly do it.
It’s from a combination of my own mechanics and actual canon lore. As seen in FoC, servants that are summoned “multiple times” are condensed into memorial essences the original arrival can absorb. This means even if they die, there’s a high chance they can be re-summoned from the throne, even if gambling is involved. That would’ve been more fine, but that’s where real canon comes into play.
In the epilogue of the Solomon chapter, Da Vinci revealed some servants stay (presumably who you have in inventory) while others return to the throne of their own volition. She states that’s alright though, because if they’re needed, the FATE System has recorded their Saint Graphs so they can be directly re-summoned. That’s catalyst-level re-summoning for free, just because they already arrived.
What this means is, even if I wanted to kill someone off for dramatic affect, it won’t mean squat. I’ll just be wasting my own time and others writing about a few minutes of what is essentially “a mild inconvenience” to Chaldea since they can just bring back the servant and any memorial essences they had (because each is technically its own saint graph).
It’s literally the most obscene form of Plot Armor possible, and I didn’t even intend for it to happen. If there’s any downside, it’s the amount of Saint Quartz that would need to be expended if Gudao/Gabrielle were dumb enough to have all 100+ servants present wiped. No one would be too happy about that, but it’d be more along the lines of “miffed” and “irritated” than depressing.
So I won’t put deaths of Chaldean servants in because it doesn’t mean anything. It came close with Mordred for dramatic affect, but this is essentially what it boils down to. I can’t break that without circumventing my own mechanic and game lore.

I've been following FoC for a long time and it's nice to see some tweaks and updates even in the later chapters that won't be having a major overhaul. On another note, could you kindly explain about the near end of Fragment 22 why Arturia felt hurt and had conflicted feelings after seeing Mordred and Iskander's show of cordial will?
Thanks for sticking with it!
It’s been established in previous fragments, with Arturia having her memories and all, that she has a renewed outlook involving the past and her own personal feelings. It’s still the early stages so she’s continuing to make some mistakes and not taking a direct approach. That’s a very generalized and short summary of the current situation up until Fragment 22.
With that in mind, it’s part of a bookend concept for the fragment. At the beginning, Mordred sees Arturia playing with Illya and gets jealous; She wants to be treated like Arturia’s child too. It is the exact reverse at the end of the fragment with Iskander. The bold and expressive king who denounced her rule is on better, friendlier footing with her child. That’s a double-punch to the gut.
