“It’s quite simple, really.” Cole said playfully but with the underlying smugness of someone that knew he was beating the stick in the mud allegations, putting his skates on with the practiced ease of someone that had already done that many times before. “It’s easy to convince you to do something as long as it sounds like something you shouldn’t be doing.”

Being from a naturally icy region and living close to a lake that does freeze over during the winter, Cole was no stranger to ice skating as a hobby, but perhaps proving that he didn’t entirely beat the stick in the mud allegations he brought Val to an actual ice rink instead of the frozen Lake Verity. Val didn’t have that much experience ice skating (and Cole had no idea he was immortal), so bringing him to a place that actually provided some safety seemed like the most reasonable choice!

Also if he fell and broke his nose or something it’d be easier to call an ambulance.

Huffing out a warm breath, he stood up on unsteady feet. This wasn't his first time ice skating, but it had definitely been a long time. Not since...well, not since Chien Pao has shoved his ungraceful ass onto a lake and forced him to learn. That should say enough about that.

"So remind me: why did I agree to do this again?"
