Okay now that it's like, more clear what the book 8 feh characters represent I appreciate them a lot more. As members of the Healing Hands they go around, well, healing people, but each represents a different aspect of healing! Hræsvelgr is stitching and mending wounds and Eikþyrnir is physical therapy and Níðhöggr is medicinal pain relief and Ratatoskr is a nurse. I can't believe it took me this long to figure that out

Healing Strength (Eikþyrnir X Male Reader)

Getting summoned to Askr, Y/N got to meet a whole lot of people across worlds. Each person had their unique way of viewing life and battle. Even with that many people to talk to, he didn’t. He would rather tend to himself and his training, whether it’s swords, lances, other kinds of physical weapons, or even magic. Not wanting to be bothered, he went into a quiet forest to be by himself.

“Alright… Fenrir!”

As Y/N summoned the dark spell, he just intended to aim at a tree. Suddenly though, a wild wolf appeared. Running through the field, it didn’t notice the magic coming toward it. That’s when it got hit, letting out a painful yelp. Looking shocked, Y/N ran toward the animal, which lay painfully on the ground.

“Oh no… I’m sorry!”

Feeling extremely guilty, Y/N crouched down to help the wolf. Without hesitation, he used a staff to heal the wolf. Even though the major wounds disappeared, it didn’t look like the wolf was alright. The beast tried to get up, only to fall down due to its weakened right front leg.

“Shit…!” As the wolf painfully whimpered, Y/N tried to figure out how he could help it.

“What happened?”

Hearing a calm voice, Y/N turned around to see a man he didn’t know called Eikþyrnir.

“I accidentally hit him with my Fenrir spell. I tried healing him, but his right front paw gave out.”

“It needs time to heal.” the giant man commented as he walked over to Y/N and the wolf. Crouching down, he checked the leg. “It’s bruised.” That’s when the Quieting Strength gently caressed the wolf’s fur. “Don’t worry. You will be alright. I’ll make sure you get better.”

Gently, the buff man scooped the wolf into his arms and stood up. He then looked back at Y/N.

“I suggest being more careful next time. Don’t worry about the wolf. He’ll be fine with me.”

As the man walked away, Y/N spoke up.

“W-Wait!” The man stopped and turned around.

“I want to help. It’s my fault, so let me make up for it, even if I can only do a little.”

The strong man thought for a second before speaking up.

“Very well… uhm…”

“Y/N.”

The man hummed softly. “Eikþyrnir.”

As they walked through the forest, with the wolf a lot calmer, there was a comfortable silence between them. Despite what had happened, it didn’t appear Eikþyrnir was mad at Y/N. Wondering where they were going, the soldier thought Eikþyrnir was leading them toward his house or something. Instead, he spotted a group of four women, all also having animal features.

“Oh, it appears big brother finally got a friend.” Níðhöggr teased as she saw them in the distance.

Hræsvelgr, having the best sight of the siblings, noticed something else.

“Eikþyrnir’s got a wounded wolf in his arms.”

Ratatoskr looked shocked.

“W-What!?” She instantly ran toward her brother, looking extremely worried. Once she reached him, she checked on the wolf. “What happened? Is he alright?”

“He’s fine, but it would be great if everyone could help.” Eikþyrnir calmly stated.

Once they got to the rest of the group, the brother gently set the wolf on the grass. That’s when Y/N saw how everyone got to work. Ratatoskr helped out wherever she could. Heiðrún healed the wound. Hræsvelgr ensured nothing was wrong with the leg by analyzing it. Níðhöggr worked to dose the pain if needed. And then there was Eikþyrnir, who ensured, after everything, that the leg was alright.

“Alright… it looks as good as new.” Eikþyrnir concluded after all his examinations. “Be careful.”

Thus, the wolf ran away, looking better than ever. The siblings all looked at ease, now that they had committed another good deed. Y/N was still amazed at how well and quickly they managed to help the wolf.

“Thank you for helping him.” Y/N said gratefully. “I tried to help, but there’s only so much staves can do.”

Heiðrún smiled. “It’s alright. I’m just glad you wanted to help out.”

“You just make sure to practice somewhere safer.” Níðhöggr commented. “Don’t want any more victims, huh?”

Y/N chuckled. “I learned my lesson. It won’t be an issue.” That’s when he wondered something. “Any chance you can teach me your techniques?”

“What do you mean?” Ratatoskr asked.

“Well, since you all healed the wolf with ease, can you teach me that too?”

The siblings all looked at each other, wondering something.

“Is it even possible to teach a mortal the powers of Yggdrasil?” Níðhöggr asked.

“Not to the full extent.” Hræsvelgr commented. “Still, I believe there are certain things we can teach.”

“It would be fun to figure out what humans can do and what not.” Ratatoskr said with a cheery smile. “Just imagine how many lives we could save if people alone could help each other.”

“It would make things easier.” Heiðrún pointed out. “There are only five of us. There’s a limit to what we alone can do.”

Níðhöggr raised an eyebrow. “So we’re going to make honorary Healing Hands members?”

“It does sound like a solid idea.” Eikþyrnir commented. “I don’t hear any counterarguments. So we’re all in agreement on it?”

The sisters all replied with some form of yes, causing the brother to look back at Y/N.

“I guess we should welcome you as the first student of the Healing Hands.”

Y/N smiled. “Thank you!”

Although not usually one to practice with others, Y/N finds it refreshing to learn something new from someone else—not just basic training or magic, but skills that can help people, such as healing, surgery, different kinds of medicine, and even physical therapy. The last skill he learns from none other than the group's brother, Eikþyrnir.

“Strength is not just about how much weight you can lift or how hard you can strike. It’s also about ensuring your body can endure.” Eikþyrnir explains. “Strengthening your core and stabilizing your joints will keep you standing, even when the world tries to knock you down. Flexibility is a hidden armor. Stretch your muscles, and they will stretch your limits in battle.”

Y/N is surprised by how many small but significant details he was never taught. His training always focused on conditioning and weapons; he never learned how to best utilize his body for strength or defense.

“Now, let’s perform some stretching exercises.” Eikþyrnir says.

And so they begin. In the quiet forest, Eikþyrnir demonstrates various exercises while Y/N follows along. They start with planking. Eikþyrnir, as expected, handles it with ease, while Y/N starts to feel the strain after a while.

Noticing Y/N’s pained expression, Eikþyrnir speaks up. “If your body is telling you to stop, don’t push it too far.”

“It’s fine.” Y/N assures him, though his voice betrays some strain. “I can go on… for a couple more seconds…”

Eikþyrnir hums thoughtfully. “It’s good to push your body, as long as you know your limits. I trust you know how far you can go.”

“I know. Don’t worry.”

As they move on to some simple leg stretches on the ground, they begin to chat.

“So... what’s your story?” Y/N asks.

Eikþyrnir turns his gaze to his friend. “Just a brother who loves his sisters. I help others by teaching them the true meaning of strength—both physical and mental. What about you?”

“I guess nothing special either. Just a regular soldier, trying to figure out which weapons work best for me.” Y/N replies. “I was a bit surprised to be summoned to another world, but I like it here, so I don’t mind.”

“That’s good to hear.” Eikþyrnir says.

As they continue to chat, not far away, the sisters are walking back to their usual hideout. They pause when they spot Eikþyrnir and Y/N.

“I’m surprised he’s keeping up so well.” Hræsvelgr comments. “No offense, of course.”

“The strength comes from the heart.” Heiðrún adds. “And I can sense a lot of determination in him.”

Níðhöggr notices something unusual: her brother chatting casually with Y/N. “I guess they’re friends now. I never thought our ‘big and protective’ brother would find a companion like this.” she teases.

“It is kinda strange, huh?” Ratatoskr says. “He’s never been one for small talk.”

“Then Y/N must be a special case.” Hræsvelgr concludes.

Níðhöggr smirks. “Oh? A special case of… love?”

Ratatoskr gasps. “L-Love? Are you saying brother likes Y/N?”

Hræsvelgr sighs. “She’s just teasing again.”

With a mischievous grin, Níðhöggr is walking back to the home base through the forest. While doing so, her sister spots her. Thus, with a quick flight, Hræsvelgr gets in front of her.

“What did you do?”

“What? Just because I’m feeling good, and grinning means I did something?” The sister then grins further. “Yeah, I did.”

“Do I need to ask what it is?”

“Depends. Could’ve you guess that I got Eikþyrnir, and Y/N lost in the forest?”

“What!?”

Thus, deep in the forest, Eikþyrnir and Y/N find themselves lost.

“My deepest apologies. I didn’t expect Níðhöggr to abandon us here.” Eikþyrnir says.

“It’s alright.” Y/N replies reassuringly. “At least we’re not alone.”

Eikþyrnir nods. “I suppose that’s true.” He kneels down and touches the earth. Y/N watches curiously. “There’s a root of Yggdrasil nearby. We can use it to take a shortcut back.”

“That sounds like a hassle.”

“It isn’t when you know how the World Tree works. Trust me, it’ll save us time.”

They soon reach the root. Eikþyrnir creates a portal leading to Yggdrasil, and they step through into another realm. Y/N looks around in awe at the vastness of the tree’s domain.

“This place is incredible.”

“It must be strange for a human to see all this.” Eikþyrnir says, gazing up at the colossal tree. “It’s... been a while since I came back here… after everything that happened…”

Y/N raises an eyebrow. “What happened?”

Eikþyrnir hesitates, a hint of pain in his expression. “I’ll tell you one day. For now, let’s focus on getting home.”

As they walk through the surreal landscape, Y/N glances around nervously. “We’re safe here, right? No crazy monsters or anything?”

“It’s completely safe.” Eikþyrnir assures him. “Only animals live here.”

“Dangerous animals?”

Eikþyrnir chuckles softly. “Even if there were, I’d protect you.”

Y/N smiles. “You’re such a sweetheart, you know that?”

The taller man blushes. “W-What are you talking about?”

“You’re a good person.” Y/N continues. “You save people and animals, you love your sisters, and you’ve been so helpful to me. I just thought you should know I’m grateful.”

Eikþyrnir falls quiet, his expression thoughtful. After a moment, he stops walking and looks back at Y/N. “It’s going to get a bit rough from here. I don’t want you to get hurt, so... feel free to hop on my back.”

Y/N grins. “Thanks.”

Feeling flustered, Eikþyrnir carries Y/N through the uneven terrain. From this vantage point, Y/N takes in the breathtaking sights of the World Tree.

“I’d love to come back here. It’s beautiful.”

“If you wouldn’t mind… we could make a small detour.” Eikþyrnir offers. “Just to see more.”

Y/N smiles down at him. “Only if you’re carrying me.”

Eikþyrnir chuckles softly. “Then let’s look around, together.”

OMG YES- Thank you for giving me an excuse to blab about it!! Idk if you mean just that they are some form of resurrected copies or the addition of their designs implicating how they died… that part is really blowing my mind.

Eikþyrnir’s mask, Níðhöggr’s association with poison, Hræsvelgr’s scars, Heiðrún’s bandages, Ratatoskr’s high collar… I’m amazed and that one flashback image shows some of these things weren’t present before, so it has some real merit I think.

That even things like Heiðrún’s awkward pose might have been intentional… crazy. And it’s so damn sad too 😭 I didn’t expect Book 8 to get so dark but I am loving it sm after the latest chapter, very eager to see what happens next!! I feel so bad for Læraðr too… <//3

I voted Læraðr for two reasons. One, he’s hot. Two, I want him to face off against Askr because I ship them so hard. I can’t believe I used to ship them as a joke! I actually believe in them now.

But realistically how is Eikþyrnir losing to Líf😂😂😂 was there not a series of thirst posts on him?? Who is thirsting for Líf??? Not even hating I am genuinely curious. I’m also not really into Eik looks wise unlike most people, yes he’s big and stuff but kinda average looking? If you want a muscle man who also has striking looks, see the sexy cow from the previous poll.

I don't normally get into Horny™️ Discourse because I believe in letting your freak flag fly.

But I will say when it comes to FEH, while I do understand where a few people are coming from in terms of there being a double standard of those (including myself) being relentlessly horny for Eikþyrnir while being increasingly annoyed by the standard fanservice of female characters...

We gotta live in reality a bit. It's a 20 to 1 ratio on when female FE characters are made to look sexy/appealing to horny fans compared to male characters. Sometimes the men aren't even made to be directly fanservice-y, oftentimes it's an accident or just how the artist draws men (DAI-XT my hero) that make people go nuts over them. Effectively that's not at all much compared to guaranteed horndog designs for women during Desert, Spring/Bunny, and both Summer banners, as well as anything they can potentially cook up for Christmas, New Years, Halloween, and whatever August/Sept/Nov. have in store.

I'm all for calling out hypocrisy, but this isn't really it. It's outliers in a game where its audience has been pretty conditioned to expect similar instances again and again.
