okay so hear me out. how hard would it be to throw a basketball through that hoop

Læraðr seems pretty tall but like dunkable. And the 90 degree angle makes it easy to throw from behind - a basketball has a diameter of about 9.4 inches, so the hoop would have to be large enough to fit it through. Papers put the average width of a human head at approximate 5-6 inches, i'll go with the NHI and say 145 mm. if we take Læraðr's face as a measurement we can see it fits comfortably twice in the hoop, and a little extra. We can safely assume it is around 11 inches in diameter

Now THEORETICALLY throwing it from behind should be safest. He seems tall but not tall enough that a good jump couldn't get it in.

Issue is, if we get too close we run the risk of him pulling this shit

So we'd need a long ball threat who can throw it with a weird angle. Some Joe Milton midcourt shit like this-

Any closer and you're getting killed.

I'd say any NBA player would have a decent shot at making it provided they have some experience with 3s. It'd probably be easier if you got a football and threw it in there.

SIDENOTE: This below form seems easier to do considering he can't run away and the hoop is bigger. You'd need a good vertical maaaaybe but honestly now it's more doable.

even though they kinda fumbled the ending there i still really liked book 8

the characters being genuinely compelling and likeable really helped carry the story even when the feh writers couldn’t even bother to skip the generic banner character dialogue to explain things like, i don’t know, how eikthyrnir actually figured out how to kill laeradr.

still, though, after book 7 got to the point where i was just skipping the plot to just finish the maps and get the orb rewards, having a book where i was genuinely enjoying engaging with the story was nice.

i was also correct about me liking ratatoskr— she was a genuinely solid character. that part at the end when she confronts laeradr and the book theme started playing was a nice touch when the rest of the final chapter was a little underwhelming.

Look I don't have expectations for FEH plot these days but I CANNOT BELIEVE after we have killed SO MANY FUCKING GODS Laeradr is the one where it's like "well we didn't actually kill a god it's a loophole see he was already dead (don't ask how this makes sense)"

Like no when Laeradr says "no mortal can defeat me" the answer should be "that's what fucking Hel said five years ago bitch"

OMG YES- Thank you for giving me an excuse to blab about it!! Idk if you mean just that they are some form of resurrected copies or the addition of their designs implicating how they died… that part is really blowing my mind.

Eikþyrnir’s mask, Níðhöggr’s association with poison, Hræsvelgr’s scars, Heiðrún’s bandages, Ratatoskr’s high collar… I’m amazed and that one flashback image shows some of these things weren’t present before, so it has some real merit I think.

That even things like Heiðrún’s awkward pose might have been intentional… crazy. And it’s so damn sad too 😭 I didn’t expect Book 8 to get so dark but I am loving it sm after the latest chapter, very eager to see what happens next!! I feel so bad for Læraðr too… <//3

Everyone's rightfully freaking out about Læraðr endlessly creating clones of his dead children from nearly dead or gravely wounded bodies, but nobody's talking about how he implanted a seed from his own heart into Queen Henriette?!

Our protags won't be able to kill him without killing their mother. It was nice knowing you Henriette but now you must join every other FE parent

feh's writing is pretty dogshit in general since they don't really span out their stories more despite having pretty good plots. but oh my god i know we've like, just only up finished book 9, but my head is still focused on book 8. the plot of book 8 is just so perfectly fucked up to me??? im not sure how to explain it, i have too many thoughts about it, but i absolutely love the healing hands and tree guy.

læraðr being a higher magical being but losing his children to a greedy mortal king... him going insane over time, creating so many false families of his, yet still found family regardless, all to try to calm his inner grief while he tries to find a way to bring his original children back... dead "children" and vessels, countless of others before the current healing hands we had now . that shit genuinely made me so distraught once i completed it

Læraðr is a better Embla.

Look, on the surface they are stoic characters with white hair with a penchant for murder. But Læraðr actually has a very complex backstory where we see he was genuinely a good person. He held back against the king for so long for the benefit of his loved ones. He held out against his evil urges for so long for the benefit of OTHERS. He doesn’t have his traits played off as cute tropes. He doesn’t have anyone apologize for him or make excuses. He is sympathetic without needing an explanation, but also a villain that needs to be stopped.

With Embla, she was shown to be a tyrant even before the murder attempt, when she got pissy after mortals went to Askr. They went there because according to Askr they valued “open exchange”. Then she isolated her people and kept them from ever leaving. She even brainwashed them! Think of families who could have been separated, never to see each other again because of a goddess who makes Hera look like an anti-war protestor! Her villain origin story is people leaving. That’s it.

We have Askr shown to make excuses for her like “she was deeply hurt”, “I cannot begin to imagine her pain”, “she cared so deeply about mortals once” Even though he resolves to aid the fight against her he is ridiculously sympathetic considering the evil things she’s done and he KNOWS she’s done. Admittedly, I really hate how IS handled Askr in this. And I also can’t stand the tsundere treatment she gets which was amplified in the bridal banner.

Also, Læraðr would have been a better couple with Askr. Heck Askr is the only other deity to come from Yggdrasil as stated in the story! At least Læraðr was a good person once. The way Askr described Embla, she seemed like she was one minute away from indulging in her wickedness. She was “good” based on the convenience of her surroundings, not because she was truly a good person.
