‘EA Sports FC 25’ game review: Is it worth the upgrade in 2024?
EA Sports FC 25 | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement EA Sports FC has continued its legacy, transitioning from the FIFA name while introducing very few changes to its year-on-year formula. With significant investments in new technologies, it is understandable that the franchise needs to recoup its costs in royalties and development. This helps keep one of the most popular sports franchises alive…

asoiaf vs the show vs my portrayal
margaery does not want to be “ the queen ” as the show so boldly claimed. she is not the mastermind behind her house; her father not a stupid and jolly santa character.
her father and her grandmother are the masterminds behind the tyrell ambition. however, this doesn’t mean margaery is weak and lacks ambition. she was raised to be extremely cunning just like her grandmother and has a very high IQ. I headcanon that margaery has been aware of her role for a long, long time and has accepted it. she often sits in with them when discussing plans (I like to believe that all the siblings are very well informed of all the plans), so that they can formulate strategies from all angles. she loves her family above everything and would do anything for them.
now, onto the whole “ I want to be the queen ” business. this is her family’s wish for her. however!!! because it’s been instilled into her for such a long time, margaery is not completely opposed to the idea. but more-so approaches it in a “I think I would do a really good job and help a lot of people” way. she is a very kind and thoughtful person who genuinely believes she could accomplish a lot of good as queen. she has the brains and the resources for it. but she’s not disillusioned by the fairytale idea. she understands the game of thrones and that’s what she despises the most and what has turned her off to the idea.
also in regards to the show: listen. lol. I love natalie dormer but her casting was absolutely criminal. she is WAY too old. in the books, margaery is around 17 at the time of the purple wedding and 19-20ish at the end of affc. she has dark brown hair (see my other headcanon about this) and big brown eyes. I don’t have one specific fc for her but a mixture of nina dobrev as katerina petrova (I know, I know IM SORRY), gabrielle caunesil, and dina denoire. I also have a lot of fan art saved if you need more examples.

FFxivWrite2024 Prompt #22 (Free) / Late #wolkrileweek Prompt #7
Title: Of Parents, and of Family
Wordcount: 743
Spoilers Through: mid-Dawntrail
Relationships & Characters: Krile & Wuk Lamat
Summary: Krile and Wuk Lamat discuss some feelings about being adopted.
(This fic is dedicated to the person in my FC who pointed out that Krile and Wuk Lamat have very different attitudes toward meeting their biological parents, and that it was a shame we didn’t get a conversation between them about it. So here's my attempt to write that!)
.
“Do you want to meet your parents?” Krile asked as she and Wuk Lamat wandered through the stone-tiled streets of Tuliyollal.
“You mean say hi to Papa while we’re in the city?” The cheerful Promise shrugged. “I think he’s busy. Besides, I don’t want him to think I’m here to beg for hints about the contest!”
“Oh! My apologies, that was a rather ambiguous question.” It was difficult to match the enormous Xbr’aal’s bounding stride, so Krile found herself walking briskly to keep pace. “I meant - the next Feat will be near Iq Br'aax, will it not? So, perhaps…”
“Ahh, you mean I could meet my birth parents?” The images Krile picked up from her companion’s mind were hazy indeed. A flash of a rocky cavern, a flash of brilliant azure foliage. “Even if I met them, I wouldn’t remember them. And Papa’s the only Papa I need, you know? I have him, and I have Namikka, and they’re my real family.”
“I see…” The streets around them were just beginning to stir with early merchants setting up their stalls, but Krile refused to be distracted.
“Besides, what if I didn’t like them?” The tall Xbr’aal abruptly swerved onto a steeply sloped side street, and Krile once again hurried after her. “You heard what happened with Koana, right?”
“More or less.” She’d seen enough in his memories.
“They left him behind.” Wuk Lamat kicked aside a pebble in a brief burst of anger as she marched up the hill. “And whatever happened with my birth parents, they didn’t want me either. If I did meet them after all, then it would just be awkward!”
“I suppose it would be.” Krile slowed down and decided to take the street at her own pace.
“But what about you?” At the crest of the hill, the Promise came to a stop, having evidently arrived at the view she’d said she wanted to show off. “Erenville said you’ve never met your birth parents either.” She stepped over to a low wall and sat down, then patted the stone beside her.
Once she reached it, Krile settled into her seat, thankful for the rest. When she’d caught her breath somewhat, she finally replied, “I never had any parents.”
“Grandfather was, well, my grandfather. And I could not have asked for a kinder one.” Krile smiled softly. She still missed the warmth of his hugs. Then her expression turned clouded, pensive. “But with how strange my life has been, I can’t help but wonder what it would have been like if I’d been raised as a normal girl.”
A childhood as the Student’s lab rat - even one taken very respectful care of - was hardly a childhood, after all.
”You know what I think?” Wuk Lamat was staring up at the palace set still higher above the city. “Normal isn’t real.”
“How so?” Krile followed her gaze.
“Well, for me, it’s normal to live in a big palace and never have to worry about my next meal, or repairing my clothes, or having people to care for me when I get hurt.” The Promise let out a full-throated laugh. “But I don’t think many other people would agree! Even though that’s what should be normal. Everyone should be able to have the things they need to live. Especially good food.”
She looked down at her companion, green eyes wide and guileless. “So what kind of normal is the one you want?”
“I - “ It was rare indeed for Krile to be thrown off balance. But Wuk Lamat was right. Krile had simply assumed that whoever her parents were, life with them would have been better than what she’d had in some nebulous way. “I’m not actually sure.”
“H-hey! Don’t look so sad, okay?” Krile could sense a spike of worry as the Xbr’aal noticed her downcast expression. “You came all the way across the ocean to learn about your grandfather, so family is really important to you, right? So… “ She gestured broadly out into the city, and the sunlight-flecked sea beyond. “Who knows? Maybe they’re still out there! Maybe they’re even hoping you’ll find them, because they miss you so, so much!”
“That seems rather unlikely.” But Krile chuckled all the same. “If they’re out there, though… I do think I would like to meet them.”
Together, the two girls - so utterly different, yet bound together on the same quest regardless - watched the city come alive as morning dawned beneath them.

i totally understand if you don't want to answer this, because of the situation with the other bad faith anon, and i hope this isn't triggering or upsetting, and i'm really sorry if it is.
so if you feel comfortable - i'm confused about what you said about FC, because i looked it up as i was unfamiliar and was only able to come up with sources that say it's scientifically discredited. how can their be studies that support something if it just isn't scientifically supported?
again, i understand i probably sound a lot like the other anon, but i'm just confused because while i think it's horrible that someone is going around trying to pick fights and discredit actual real autistic people on tumblr, i think there's a piece i'm missing on whether FC is real or not. any guidance or information or perspective you have would be appreciated, but i am not expecting a response as this seems like a pretty serious issue right now that you're having to deal with.
sorry to bother, hope you have a good rest of your day!
I re-read my text and figured that it could come across a little rude or angry. So just to reassure you: I'm not angry, I simply explain things.
What I meant with this post was that it was a website that didn't even try to come up with some possible "good points", even if it only would be "Well, in the end we can't look in the individual's head, and therefore we could miss something. If it helps the individual to get used to pointing to things until eventually they develop the ability to do so themself, that's good. We should make people aware that it's easy to abuse people without actually having this intention, but there are only tendencies in science, never a complete yes or no, but rather "leaning to yes" or "leaning to no", or if it is, then it's only a temporary "yes" or "no" until proven otherwise.
I can't process complex language, and unfortunately studies are written in complex language, so I'm not the best person to ask about studies.
But I know that until not that long ago science thought that autistics who struggle greatly to communicate were always intellectually disabled because it wasn't always possible to reliably test that. They saw that those of us who were diagnosed with "Kanner autism" often didn't understand what they wanted from us and that we scored low on IQ tests. So their conclusion was that we are intellectually disabled. It didn't occur to them that it was their approach that was wrong or that we couldn't let our body do what we wanted it to do. They couldn't look into our heads, they made conclusions only on what they could observe.
People also thought that I was intellectually disabled at first. I didn't understand what they wanted me to do in those IQ tests. And they couldn't tell me because my language processing was bad. I didn't even understand spoken language until I was 3 years old. And I can't speak, so they couldn't ask me. It was only because I could read at a really young age that people suddenly questioned their assumptions about me.
And there are autistics who couldn't read at a young age and can't communicate their abilities to other people.
And that's what bothers me and what I meant. It could be possible that our approach to FC is wrong and we're not aware of it because those who actually benefit from FC aren't able to tell us that reliably. And this website doesn't even think of that possibility, even though it happened SO often that scientists were wrong about an established point of view regarding autism. It still happens very often. And it takes psychologists/neurologist/etc. extremely long to get rid of their outdated viewpoints when it comes to autism.
So yeah. Even if you can't find studies that support it, it's always possible that their approach doesn't cover certain things and that we miss something because these people simply can't reliably tell us what's going on. We should always keep this possibility in mind. We can't say that something is "always absolutely bad" if it's about a group of people that can't communicate on their own.
Slightly off topic but: There once was a study that tested if a "gaydar" is real. They showed participants photos of people, and the participants should tell if the person in the picture was LGBT+ or not. Most people didn't even get 50% right. The conclusion of this study was that a gaydar isn't real.
........they literally told people that what they definitely experience isn't real. Even though these people do experience it. Strange, huh? Yeah, it was because of the pictures. It works with real people in a real situation in real life. The picture approach was flawed.
Now imagine people benefit from FC and that's their reality, but the studies' approach is wrong. We don't know that for sure.

Last night I got high and wrote a program to find all of the unused elemental symbols. It turns out there’s 585 of them and it’s much less interesting the next day.
One interesting finding: I couldn’t be bothered to generate all possible one and two letter strings, so I asked ChatGPT to write me code that would do all that for me. It worked surprisingly well!

TTTE AU LORE DUMP
(Wasps of Wisteria aka, WOW)
[ Before we start I must add some disclaimers, this au & discussion around contain; Bugs, Body Horror, Possession/Mind Control, Character Death & overall dark themes. If these things disturb or discomfort you please scroll away now for your own safety & health. You matter more than this silly thing.]
So this au takes place some time after day of the diesels & TATMR. Maybe like six months afterwards if we're looking at time period. Though it's not really specified.
This all starts like several centuries (like..120 & half years) ago. Like before sodor railway was as big as it is today. They are in the fucking trenches here dude. It was literally just the old farts of the engines. Like. Edward, duke, fearless Freddy etc (yes I know about fearless Freddy and I love him..fearless Freddy lover RISE.)
Diesel 10 & Lady are still on good terms before Diesel 10 goes crazy & tries to kill Lady in order to take all of her gold dust for himself in an act of jealousy & rage. There backstory is like Luna & celestia expect Luna just gets crazier & goes full out with body mods & starts talking to a non senaint claws on his back that connected to his crazy fucking everything tool arm that 100% definitely has a Lazer in it.
& Celestia grows resentful due to all the trouble luna has caused her but at the same time she can only feel sorrow as she knows he is good. He was good. but his mind is far to rotted away because she literally turned him into a god like her and didn't know the consequences of turning a normal ass guy with extremely high iq and can make robots and shit immortal. She keeps giving him bits of gold dust whenever they fight ( which is rare that they get close enough to) " by accident" in order to keep him alive because she can't handle him dying even though that is what would end his eternal suffering she just can't let go.
Her grief for someone gone has made a man that cannot live. Oh and diesel is aware she's giving him the gold dust but let's her because he still deep down cares and the thought of her grefing for all eternity alone terrfiys him deep inside he core because if what he became from just anger and rage, imagine what she could become from grief. Primal, human grief that grabs you by the throat and chokes you until you are gurgling and spitting up your own past blood and watching it run down your chest as the denial begins to fade and the rage begins to form.
However there is this motherfucker named Wasp who loves controlling people so they can cause chaos and despair. The also have a wasp face but a human body. It's not there's either btw! They are possessing the first FC wife btw...sorry (deceased) Lady Hatt the 1 (This obviously takes place after the second dude is born)

Olympique Lyonnais - Paris FC Postgame Thoughts
Fake football fans will clutch their pearls and claim Lyon played a bad and/or boring game because they "only" beat Paris FC 1-0, revealing that they don't watch football, don't know Paris FC, think that the French league is a farmer's league, or some combination of all of the above.
It's not my job nor hobby to fight back against WSL bias - you're entitled to your own opinion no matter how much I think you're wrong - but it also, like, irks me when people overlook Paris FC because they're not a "brand name" and/or "historical club".
For those of us who DON'T believe that tickets sold = quality, there wouldn't be any reluctance in admitting that Paris FC is a really, really good team. They're young but talented, growing into themselves in a way that is quite frankly really exciting to watch. I want to watch Julie Dufour and Mathilde Bourdieu play. They're fun. There's great movement and off the ball, there's crisp passing, there's ball IQ. They are well coached. There's a lot of positive things.
Are we to dismiss this team because they aren't selling out big stadiums? Is that how we judge teams now? You're only good if you sell 30k tickets? If you're not associated with a big men's club then you're bad by proxy?
I mean, sure, everyone has their own definition of "good". My standards of what quantifies as "good" is naturally going to be different than from someone who doesn't watch the French league. But maybe it's just because I watch the French league. Who knows, really.
What we know - okay, that's a lie, what I know since I actually watch this league - is that Paris FC didn't appear out of nowhere. It's what makes the pearl clutching surrounding Paris FC so frustrating. They didn't come out of nowhere. If you paid even the littlest bit of attention you would know that Paris FC used to be called Juvisy and you would know the bad blood between Lyon and Juvisy and you wouldn't be sitting here, clutching your pearls, wondering how this team came in from the cold without anybody noticing.
Because those who watch the French league did notice it long before Paris FC sent both multi-time UWCL winner and finalist Wolfsburg packing, as well as that other club. Was Paris FC's qualifier win over Wolfsburg a surprise? Yes in that there had been warning shots that Wolfsburg failed to take seriously. The other win was simply an example of hubris.
That's an awfully long introduction to say "only" winning 1-0 win against Paris FC is actually fair. I think any other scoreline would have been a disservice to either team. Lyon should have put away more of their chances, sure, but Paris FC played a really good game, and to pretend that they deserved another 6-1 beating reeks of bad faith.
The difference came down to this: Lyon is used to playing big games and Paris FC is not. It will come with time, much sooner than I think people want to acknowledge. For a team that is still experiencing growing pains, Paris FC actually feels comfortable in its own skin. There were of course moments of discomfort - Lyon's high press is never a pleasant experience no matter how low your block is, and there are more enjoyable activities than dealing with Selma Bacha whipping crosses into the box.
It's not to say that Lyon played a perfect game because they really didn't. Amel Major is one of the players whom, while I am thankful for everything they did for Lyon, I wouldn't exactly shed any tears over if Lyon sold her because her contract came to an end.
Lyon's midfield didn't exactly do anything worth writing home about but they weren't "bad" either. We didn't really see much of van de Donk but it's not something which will keep me up at night. Horan should have put shots away. Damaris will get a breather when Walti I mean an actual decent 6 as cover signs. They didn't do much, but they weren't the source of frustration either, not like Majri's first touch which was the equivalent of a drunk lumberjack's.
The defense was solid. I was genuinely impressed by Carpenter's crosses for once, a pleasant change from the anguish they usually cause. Bacha had a bit of rust but again, nothing will keep me up at night. M'Bock's injury however will. I do not want to go through however weeks it is with a backline of Bacha - Gilles - Sombath - Carpenter and no real center back available as substitute. I already suffered enough with the first half of the 2022 season and I refuse to believe my karma is bad enough to experience that again.
Hegerberg proved her salary demands for an extension were justified - more on Lyon's contract negotiations later - and it goes back to what I have been saying in the past: Hegerberg makes a team better. I don't know if we would have won this game without her, but I also think it's unfair to say we would have lost for sure without her. We don't have to find out, at least not yet.
Le Sommer was rusty but again I am willing to excuse that because she was coming back from injury. Majri I've already covered and it's at the point where the only nice thing I can say about her contribution in the game today was that she was a warm body on the field.
Endler is Endler, glad she is extended and the goalkeeper saga is someone else's problem.
TL:dr - if you asked me at the start of the season if I would take a 1-0 win against Paris FC, my answer would be "yeah, sure, no reason not to." But maybe it's because unlike casual football fans, I know who Paris FC really are. Knowing to take a team seriously matters. History has proven as much.
