My wife and I just watched Fast X (finally). We loved it, of course, but even if you don’t like those movies you have to appreciate any film that essentially says “What if the Joker were played by Jason Momoa?”

Fast X (also known as Fast & Furious 10) is a 2023 American action film directed by Louis Leterrier from a screenplay written by Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin, both of whom also co-wrote the story with Zach Dean. It is the sequel to F9 (2021), the tenth main installment, and the eleventh installment overall in the Fast & Furious franchise. It stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto alongside an ensemble cast including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron. In the film, Toretto must protect his family from Dante Reyes (Momoa), who seeks revenge for his father's death and the loss of his family's fortune.
With a tenth film planned since 2014 and a two-part finale planned since October 2020, Lin was confirmed to return to direct with the main cast attached. The film's official title was revealed when principal photography began in April 2022. Lin left as director later that month citing creative differences, though he retained writing and producing credits. Leterrier was then hired as his replacement a week later and performed several uncredited rewrites to the screenplay. Longtime franchise composer Brian Tyler returned to score the film. With an estimated production budget of $340 million, Fast X would be the eighth-most expensive film ever made. Filming lasted until that August, taking place in London, Rome, Turin, other Italian cities, Lisbon, and Los Angeles.
Fast X premiered in Rome on May 12, 2023, and was released in the United States on May 19, by Universal Pictures. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for its action sequences and Momoa's performance but criticism towards the writing. The film grossed $714 million worldwide, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2023. A sequel is in development and scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025.

Fast and The Furious: A Film Review
This was…incredibly boring.
If you'll recall, Fast X, the tenth entry into the Fast and Furious franchise, was released earlier this year on May 19th. The latest entry made me want to reflect on the earlier movies. Around eight or nine years ago, around 2014 to 2015, trailers for Furious 7 dropped, and it made teenage me really want to see it. However, I never saw the movies at the time. So, there was a period when I tried to watch the films leading up to Furious 7. I saw the first four before eventually losing interest and giving up the series whole. The point is that I haven't seen the first Fast and The Furious movie since I was a teenager, and I can recall that 14-year-old me really enjoyed that movie. It was probably a favorite of the four that I saw.
The 22-year-old me does not like this movie at all.
Its plot is more tame than the stories that follow in the later entries. (If I am right to believe from various clips I see online as I try to piece together what the hell happens in movies like 9 or X). Dominic Torretto, played by Vin Diesel, after a roaring street race with Brian, played by the late Paul Walker, takes him under his wing. Meanwhile, the entire time, Brian is an undercover cop who's investigating Dom and his rival Johnny Tran for a big case. Typing out the synopsis is so much more intriguing than the film.
We'll keep this review short and sweet.
There are no compelling acting performances by anyone here. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, nobody works. The action scenes are nothing to write home about, with the guys driving in cars and…doing things. The film is more just a series of events happening than some gritty action drama. "this happens, and then this happens, and then this happens…" Ad nausem.
I know Ludacris appears in these movies and has a substantial role in these movies. I like Ludacris; he has great songs. Instead, we get Ja Rule as our rapper stands in, and it's weird. Ja Rule is okay, but it's odd to me that another artist besides Ludacris is in this film.
The funniest part of the whole film is when they call their stupid races "Race War." Easily the best part. Dialogue is terrible. Can't wait to get to the rest of the movies, this sucked. 1.5/5.

To be continueds are for television shows only and you can not change my mind about this.
They are for week long or month long breaks in between episodes. They are not for movies that take at least a year to hit movie theaters. Watching a movie and essentially being hit with a to be continued is the MOST unsatisfying thing. It's like someone turning off the movie halfway through and then waiting a year for you to forget most of it and then resuming it.

Ok why are we queercoding villains in the year 2023. Why.
I'm talking about Fast X and the fact that they made the FINAL villain, the WORST ONE YET, queercoded.
And they made him say aaaaaall the buzzwords, and they fucking gave him OT phrases, and I wouldn't be suprised if they literally showed Jason Momoa OT's youtube channel and told him 'act like this guy!' (I mean the lines where he does sound like OT, it kind of sounds like I'm saying the entire performance is like that, which I am not; I mean the parts where he says butthole and shut the front door etc)
I thought we were past this. I really did
