Hello!!
Would you mind if someone wrote a fic using the tiny-[insert character] idea?
I was brainrotting hard over an AU where everyone has a tiny version of themselves, who acts like a child with no adult like restrictions (an unleashed inner child, you could say)
Oh for that you don't even have to give me credit/mention me unless you really want to, I didn't come up with the original idea of tiny-fying your faves, that's rather common and comes in many flavours!
If you're directly using my lore and stuff, like actively using my ideas, yeah I would like and prefer to be mentioned (and notified, as I've said before!), but if you got your own original spin that happens to resemble and/or was sparked by me or some other fan's ideas, that's an entirely different topic

Hi! I came across your post answering an ask ahout your most ✨controversial takes✨ on the world of dogs from back in April.
I read that you thought the AKC should not allow "professional handlers", and saw that you also seemed to distinguish these from breeders and owners. I've never given it much thought, but I think I would've assumed a handler was just another word for "owner" on my own.
What's the difference between these things, and why do you take your stance against handlers?
(I can infer what a breeder is as opposed to the others lmao, so I guess I'm asking about owner vs handler vs "professional" handler)
In dog conformation the dogs are handled by a handler when they go into the ring. This handler does not have to be the owner and in many instances is not. Professional handlers are just what they seem: people that handle dogs at dog shows for a living. A good handler knows how to make the dog look good, not just from a grooming standpoint, but when moving around a ring. Hiring a pro handler outsources this knowledge, time needed, and skill to somebody else.
There are several problems with this for me:
1.) dog shows, especially at the upper levels, are highly politicized. Hiring the ~right~ handler could give your dog the upper hand from a dog of equal or better value handled by somebody “lesser”. It keeps you and your dogs in the in-crowd.
2.) A dog that shows or “campaigns” a lot becomes known to judges, has more opportunities etc. When dogs are shown by professional handlers the owner/breeder is not always going with them and dogs can be on the road with their handlers going to show after show for months and even years at a time. This is not something the average purebred dog owner can afford.
3.) professional handlers are NOT cheap and conformation dog shows aren’t either. Having the monetary means to hire a well respected pro handler is not feasible for most people. This sets the people who already have the means to compete in dog shows and campaign their dogs year round leagues above people who cannot afford this. This further pinches top dog shows into a 1% that is near impossible to break into for new people, people from marginalized backgrounds, young people, etc.
4.) because of the competitive nature of modern dog shows and it becoming a “sport” instead of an evaluation of the quality of breeding stock you get people willing to look the other way on corrective grooming, poor temperaments, non correct structure to have “their people” win, to have their friends win, to have the people they are connected to win. Dog shows are not an even playing ground and very much an unspoken club of who is “in” and “out”. The culture and ability of hiring pros to take your dog around the country, to groom your dog, to show your dog ensures it stays this way.
In my opinion dogs should be lightly bathed and put into the rings with their owners/breeders/co-owners. Nothing more. This would imo, better level the playing ground and provide more equity in the purebred dog world.

I saw at least one edit of your 2024 "Make A Terrible Comic Day" entry, but would it be okay if I (or anyone) made their own redraw of it? (With an @ and the original in the post ofc)
On one hand it touched on a similar experience I had with a different fandom trope as a teen, on the other I recognize that you got really overwhelmed by the attention that comic got and I get it if you don't want to be "the I wish I was yaoi comic guy" and/or have your own experience memed on like that
I didn't know it was still circulating tbh I've had notifications for it muted on all platforms. Are people still being weird about it 😭 ??
I privated/deleted most of the posts i made when it was blowing up but do you guys know I don't even read yaoi? or BL even? It's crazy how the word you say with your friends all the time can be interpreted differently by a wider audience. It did drive me insane, to be misinterpreted like that and also realise how WEIRD about sex everyone is.
I JUSST feel like people aren't really getting the point of that comic. But I also understand that's kind of not my problem. I'm whatever you want me to be at this point, non-binary comic guy, good om*ns animatic guy and now I'm just the "i wish i was yaoi" comic guy.
I think.. you can do whatever you want forever. You don't really need permission but it's nice that you're asking at all, it's more respect than I'm (or anybody is) really granted with this kind of thing.
While I love a good redraw every once in a while, I really rather someone not just copy things one for one? Maybe put your own spin on it, even just changing the angle of it maybe. I feel like it's ironic that people are redrawing/editing a "terriblecomicsday2024" challenge. A challenge solely made to encourage original comic making. What's going on guys?

Can you give us the option to hug Rigel & Vega <3
(/SILLY)
I see the tone tag but you're not the first (or probably the last) to ask me this!!
short silly answer to your ask specifically: you're stuck with hugging your display X)
long less silly answer about this type of questions in general: aster is done and won't get new features, only some tweaks and quality of life stuff at most. additionally hugging/kissing/giving items just doesn't fit with my vision of them being like Actual virtual assistants in a fish out of water scenario. i was told before that other ukagaka have those features and I just. Do Not Care (not mad), as Aster isn't other ukagaka

Does having a Pokémon in your party count as using it on your team?
I personally only count them if I use them in battle, contests, or something of the like. So I wouldn’t count having a pokemon who just sits in the party and gains exp but doesn’t actually contribute (past moral support).
There are arguments to be made for HM/field move experts, breeding, and egg hatchers though. So ultimately, vote based on what feels most correct to you!

hi! sorry if this overlaps too close with a faq, but are you locked out of a romance with chase/tallys if your player character is ace?
Hi, this is talked about in the FAQ as well as heavily discussed in the #FWB tag! You're not necessarily locked out of Chase/Tallys's romance paths if you're ace, but you have to start their romances with a friends-with-benefits sexual relationship first, so if that's something an ace MC isn't interested in, then the romance with those two characters can't proceed! Hope that makes sense!

the star wars books are neverending lol
someone requested books 1-8 of the Star Wars: X-Wing series from the ’90s. I’ll be honest, it did make me think I should start doing book 1 only, but I’m going to continue accepting later books for the time being.
however, as always, I encourage everyone who’s considering submitting a whole series to ask themselves, truly, if they need to know how many people read each book in the series, or if they just want to gauge how many people are aware of / have read a bit of the series.

Frequently Asked Questions!
I wanted to make one of these before the next round of Doomed By The Narrative comes up. PLEASE read through these before that happens so we can all have a fun time
Why is this character here? They aren't doomed by the narrative
"Doomed By The Narrative" is a phrase that is extremely open to interpretation, and can allow for some pretty out-there characters to qualify. Here's a pretty simple list of questions that can help you decide whether or not a character is doomed: Did the story require things to play out this way for there to be a story? Did this characters actions fail to save them no matter what they did? Did they succeed, but at a severe cost that was demanded of them from the second the story started? If any of these are a yes, you have the basis for an argument of why that character could be considered doomed by the narrative
This character isn't doomed by the narrative! They didn't even die!
You do not have to die to be doomed. You do not have to Die to be doomed. Sometimes living is worse. Sometimes their success came at a cost they can never live down. Sometimes they live happily ever after, but that doesn't change the physical/mental/emotional toll of getting there. Doomed by the narrative does not mean doomed to die. It means doomed to go through the narrative the way it is, no matter what you do to try to make it better.
What happened with the drama involving XYZ?
What happened is people did not respect our boundaries. There is nothing else you need to investigate or know. Tumblr has a tendency to think ignoring boundaries and being cruel is funny, it has happened time and time again, and probably will never stop. Just know the mods did what they thought was needed to keep our mental health in check.
What does "don't clown or I block you" mean? What can I do to avoid that?
Great question! I would absolutely love to clarify this for anyone that's confused /genuine
The easiest way to figure out if something you say could get you blocked is to ask "would I say this directly to the poll runner?" And if the answer is no then don't say it. Because guess what? On Tumblr, every tag, comment, reply, EVERYTHING goes directly to the original poster. So we can see all of that.
A few things I can think of that would cause a commenter to be blocked include: directly insulting the runners of this blog and/or the characters in the tournament (there is a real person running this blog and i can see that), insisting that a character is Not doomed and thus should be taken out immediately (the brackets were organized with a TON of thought put into them, and this is insulting all of that hard work), tearing down the characters in the poll through insults/degrading/etc (focus on bringing your character up rather than tearing others down!), or anything that's just generally extremely rude and negative. This is supposed to be a fun poll tournament, not a life or death situation with your blorbos. Be kind, be respectful, or I will block you to keep the blog positive and silly.
Why is XYZ character in the tournament? I thought they lost?
Don't worry about it

you prolly get this question a lot, but whats with the colored text? i imagine its to break up the text for easier reading or something, but i actually find it harder to read :(
Thank you for inadvertently reminding me that I also really ought to set up a FAQ. Writing this in uncolored text so that you can read it better, because I’ve gotten a handful of asks and comments about this and I feel I need to address it, broadly speaking.
It’s a reading tool for people with ADHD. Many ADHDers find it difficult to read/comprehend text, especially longform text, and this is just about never accommodated for or considered in any capacity. Most are simply told to just get better at focusing, which is… You know, ableist, in this context!
ADHD is a very common mental disability, and difficulty reading is a genuinely very common aspect of it. Many Homestuck fans have ADHD, or a form of reading difficulty quite similar to that of most ADHDers. And yet, a lot of things are totally walled off for them, because a lot of people write their analyses, stories, et cetera, as giant, unformatted walls of text. It’s not a crime, but it is noteworthy. Text-based fanwork is simply rendered inaccessible for many, even though there are ways to mitigate it. It sucks!
If it makes it more difficult for you to read, then it is probably just not an accessibility tool made for you. Sometimes accessibility tools won’t work for you, or aren’t made with you in mind. That’s fine. Braille wasn’t made with the Deaf in mind. Hearing aids weren’t made with the Dyslexic in mind. I’ve received substantially more messages from people saying it actually helps them read, and thanking me from the bottom of their hearts for accommodating to them and their struggles when nobody else will- when most other peoples reaction is to simply mock them- than I have people saying they’re hindered by it, or even outright telling me to stop just for them- the self-centeredness of that!- to the point where I find that the pros outweigh the cons.
Please understand this. I really do not intend to take an accessibility tool away from people who need it. I do not intend to stop employing an accessibility tool that I made for a specific group of people that has been shown to me to be really effective. If it doesn’t suit you, that’s fine. But it might not have been made for you in the first place.
Accessibility tools are tools. They are not one-size-fits-all. What I have with me is a hammer, and that might not be helpful when what you need is a wrench. That’s fine, we’re all operating with different machines with different parts that need their own special maintenance. But I’m not throwing the hammer away because a couple people needed a wrench, and you’re not required to take the hammer instead of a wrench, either. You need different tools than I do, and someone else will need different tools than either of us will. Maybe they need a screwdriver or something.
No one’s a villain for needing different tools.
Thank you and have a nice day.

INHALE. you probably get asked this a lot but,, what program do you use and what brushes do you use the most? i really love how you paint.
i do get asked this alot but no worries (i need to make a faq..)
most (98%) of the time i use clip studio paint.
when painting i either use a default circle brush or a textured brush that's been deleted by the author (i don't use this one nearly as much though. some people like its texture but the SU cream pencil is the closest i could find to the OG. you can find it on the clip studio asset store)
hope this helps thumbs up Never doubt the default circle brush

Hey there!
I have a question regarding the AU aspect. Are AU’s based off of preexisting works allowed? (Ex: How To Train Your Dragon, Studio Ghibli movies, WTNV, TMA, etc, etc). Are there going to be any rules surrounding that?
I have a few ideas that would incorporate ideas/plot lines from preexisting works/fandoms, but a few of these would involve lesser known works, (WTNV and Danger Days, mostly). I would feel bad if I got paired with an artist that had never heard of them before, and wouldn’t understand all of the context. I don’t want to force someone to listen to a whole podcast to understand my silly little mcyt fic, yk?
Our phrasing for aus in the rules is "Alternate endings, role reversals, complete setting or plot swaps, and crossovers all count.". Putting the characters in the HTTYD universe or another one would work!
And when you sign up, you'd put down what type of an au it is, for example, with TMA: Alternate Universe - Horror, Alternate Universe - The Magnus Archives. And then when you do your summary you would put down whether you think your partner needs to be familiar with your source material or not, for example: Ranboo becomes an avatar of the Lonely and tries to break up with Tubbo avatar of the Hunt, but they make it work. Knowledge of TMA prefered. That way the artist knows going in what they're signing up for.
Ideally you are able to explain the AU to your partner in such a way that it's acessable even if they haven't listened to TMA, but if you need someone who has also consumed the source material (which could be possible, though it might reduce the amount of artists who are able to work with you), you can put that in your summary, so everyone is on the same page.

Do sledding races have upper or lower limits for the number of dogs in a team?
Yes!
In many shorter sprint distance races for example you'll see different classes that determine both the general distance and number of dogs allowed. These are often 1-2 dog skijor, 2 dog sled, 4 dog sled, 6 dog sled, 8 dog sled, 10 dog sled and open/unlimited class sled (10+ dogs).
Dryland will also have their own specific classes such as women's canicross, men's canicross, 1 dog bikejor, 1 dog scooter, 2 dog bikejor, 2 dog scooter, 4 dog rig, 6 dog rig, etc. Longer distance races have less options for small teams since these expedition style races require a lot more dog power and ability to drop dogs at checkpoints for their health and well being. While their classes are more to do with the specific distance run, Iditarod for example requires a minimum of 12 dogs at the start (you can have a maximum of 16 dogs at the start) and you cannot drop below 5 dogs total. (Now iditarod and other long distances races have a significant barrier to entry such as other qualifying races and a uh...hefty entry fee, but that's another story).
You'll also see races specific to the types of dogs may be entered. All breed for example is any breed of dog and this is where you see the most competition because it's where the Alaskan Huskies, GSPs and Eurohounds compete. Registered breed competitions in North America are often only Siberian Huskies, but competitions in Europe, such as Polardistans, have specific classes for Siberians, Malamutes, Greenland Dogs, and Samoyeds depending on the breed makeup and purpose (freighting breeds have to carry a specific amount of weight per dog that is different than the weights required by lighter breeds). Longer distance races sometimes, but not always, limit the type of dogs allowed to race. Iditarod only allows husky type dogs with the appropriate coat to survive in arctic conditions (teams of standard poodles have finished the Iditarod 4 times prior to this rule change however and spaniel type dogs have run in the Can-Am).
