Ic doesn't know how to help, Fable is taking advantage of their confusion, their desperation for things to be right again, their guilt of hurting people.

Rae doesn't know either, he is also confused and desperate, gets so guilty and isolated when he hurt someone.

but he has people. they keep pushing them away.

if you could create any AU for your fable or mer characters, what AU would it be? would it be an AU you'd create as a cosplay opportunity or more a writing opportunity?

Hmmm... Right now my brain sure be braining about Spiderverse AU vibes hehe. I'll toss in my lil treat- With Eye duo, I totally think Sherb would be spiderman and Rae would be the accidental villian. The one who took his science too far and experimented on himself until it turned him into a monster

With all the burns on their hands, it was (is) always significantly harder for Icarus to grip things (and feel things but thats a different conversion) - especially slippery things like bottles (which definitely resulted in a few more burns of themselves) - and so at some point they decided gloves would be a good investment. At first it was just for their right, where the worse burns were, but they quickly decied itd be easier if they had gloves on both. Fingerless gloves specifically because they still wanted the ability to recognize even the most subtle temperature changes with their fingers - very important for potion making. They had specific grips on them that made them significantly more grippy than normal canvas gloves. When Rae made the full ones this season, he was sure to include grips similar.

(A younger Rae absolutely compared Ic's gloves - that have a very specific pattern of grips - to cat paws. Icarus had a cat themed nickname for a while. Rae got a dragon themed one in return because if they were going down, he was going with them-)

I rewatched the most recent eyeduo fight and you can see Icarus slowly realizing that they pushed to far and you can see the part of them fighting to push everyone away to make everyone believe that they're a bad person and the part of them that desperately craves the affection that Rae gave so freely fighting and you can see the exact moment when Icarus realizes exactly how bad they just fucked up

the exact moment they realize this is going to be the last time for a long time that their little brother is going to come to them on friendly terms that they are about to lose him actually, this isn't like before where they fight for a bit and make up no because throughout everything in their lives the stuff they both do and don't remember Rae has believed in them seen the best in them no matter what and was always there to help

you can clock the exact moment Rae gives up and the moment following when Icarus realizes it and then they are faced with what's left of their relationship without hope and it is angry and it is ugly and it is sorrowful it is all those things that they won't talk about the shadows that lurk in their minds.

And with that last bit of hope drained from the hopeful the hopeless are finally lost

Also side note correct me if I'm wrong but this is the first time Rae initiated combat (or yk not like actual combat this time but he pulled a sword first) I don't even think he himself picked up on that but I'm pretty sure Icarus did

as a fablesmp enjoyer and someone who went feral over Unlocked and the subsequent eyeduo + fable lore, here are my thoughts

Something about Fable is off

i love the dude and he seems like a great dad(good father arc real not fake i am begging you) but the way he’s been interacting with Rae threw me off. he was so focused on the “potential” Rae has to use the various god shards he has in him. Fable this man is already stressed tf out. Give him a break. Maybe focus on the weird being tormenting your child and the fact that your child is kinda very injured and slightly terrified. mmmaybe focus on that.

I have a friend who is on like episode three

And they love Sherbert and dont trust Rae. I find this ridiculously funny as someone who is on episode 65 and who loves Rae. Also we both cosplay and are doing eyeduo at some point.

They said they just get bad vibes from the scientist man. But knowing them they'll end up liking him (maybe liking Ghosty better but who doesn't love Ghosty?)

I saw your analysis on the book, and while you're probably right that it'll be eyeduo that mends. What if it wasnt?

What if it was Fable and Rae? Rae being unable to look at Fable without seeing the brother he lost. Fable unable to look at Rae without seeing parts of the sister his child died because of. But needing to work together anyways to figure out how to help Orchid (or smth idk)

What if it was Enderian and Icarus? Enderian losing another person because of Fable. Icarus losing more to the person who manipulated them, their friends, caused them to kill someone, caused pain to their friends.

It doesn't make much sense with the mending line but its still fun to think about.
