Since you mentioned the Frankenhounds (one of my favs of yours)
I always remember those videos of Queen Elizabeth where she enters a room with her running corgis entourage, and I just imagine scientist reader with the Frankenhounds, but instead of cute corgis it's terrifying, stitched up murder machines.
Still cuties tho!
A new face in town always called for celebration. Don't see many of those too often, and with the gradually declining population for mysterious and unknown causes they were a blessing.
A corporate hot-shot decided they had enough of the city life and shipped themselves and their earthly possessions off to the closest town that allowed them to work remotely from their high paying job. To the surprise of neighbors who arrived with baked goods and freshly picked fruits, they had already started the process of planning a get together to meet everyone they'd see on the daily. The townspeople were so thrilled they forgot the tiny detail that there was one person who wasn't as welcoming as the rest. The party began without a hitch, but something felt out of place for the new face. The one person they were more excited to meet had yet to make their presence known as as their absence persisted they began to worry they might not show at all.
"Excuse me? Do you happen to have a number I can use to all the scientist?"
Though the tap on their shoulder was enough to alert the neighbor still wearing their carrier uniform, their eyes pop out of their sockets like billiard balls as they choke down a mouthful of food. "You... invited them?"
Puzzled by their sudden change, the new neighbor flashes a concerned smile. "Yes? Some articles of their work came up when I was doing research of your town, though most were slightly vague about what they do. They replied to my email saying they'd be around as soon as they could, and they'd bring their dogs if I allowed."
The mail carrier's eyes are just about ready to shoot out their skull. They make a grab for their bag - discarding their fallen cap as they gather their things. "Great party, but something's come up. Be seeing you, if you survive. Where are my keys... where are my..."
A sharp whistle pierces the air. All color, and hope, drains from the carrier's face as the yard's back entrance is pawed opened by a clawed hand - stitches running down the length of its furred limb. It retreats into the darkness as a lone figure steps out into view. Eyes follow them from all corners as they stride meticulously towards the larger group of party-goers, face void of greater expression than tight lips and a passive gaze. They scan the crowd, locating the newcomer with ease. A small smile forms - never meeting your eyes.
"Mx. Wilson. So good to finally meet you. Since this is our first meeting I must inform you I am not one to mingle with... others. I allow this an exception as you were unaware of this fact, and seemed so excited to meet my sweet pups - and I have to say they are quite eager to meet you as well."
The braver of the crowd regain function of their limbs, and take their attempt to flee as you bring two fingers to your limbs - but it's too late. Heavy panting and soft howls join the piercing shriek of your call in a sympathy of the chaos soon to follow. One by one, your howls spill into the yard - the newcomers eyes wide with newfound terror as the years long terror resurfaces in your existing neighbors.
The hounds knock over tables and chairs, barking and hissing at all who infer with their path. They corner those more expressive of their fear in tight shapes - bursting into maniacal laughter as they attempt to fling their bodies over the walls. The smallest of the group volts over to the snack table, scooping as many appetizers as they possibly could on one plate and balances the heavy weight in their claws - gifting their gracious offering to you as they kneel at your feet. You pick through the treats, patting their head as you pop one into your mouth. The others sniff out the outsider as they run for their house, dragging them back over to you and pinning them to the earth as you tower over them. You kneel, offerings a single fruit which they refuse. You chuckle.
"Oh, come now - don't be like that. We're only welcoming you to the neighborhood. My pups even when through the trouble of getting you a gift."
The fourth and most unpredictable of your hounds begins to convulse violently. They wheeze and sputter on the grass - jaws lax as they choke up something white and thin. You stroke their back, aiding them through their expulsion of whatever was lodged in their throat. Clinging to your leg, they spit out an entire human hand striped of its bone and still intact at the joints. With Halloween right around the corner, you'd say it was more a thoughtful gift than warning.
"And if I haven't said it all ready, welcome to the neighborhood."

can i ask for a stranger things ship pls? I don't care if you pick a male character or a female character. Romantically could love anyone. Asexual.
I'm like 5' 4" which is tall for the females in my family 😂 Female. Black hair. Blue eyes. Irish. INFJ. 23. Christian. Hufflepuff.
I'm super pathetically unfit and weak and would so die within like two minutes of being in the upside down. Bought weights watched a bunch of YouTube exercise videos, hated the entire experience, exercise is pain, waste of money and effort, 10/10 will not attempt that shite again.
Spend my time questioning why I waste so much time. Yikes. Reading is lit it's like the closest thing to living in a different world. I like collecting vintage trinkets and clothes and cassettes cuz vintage stuff is like the closest thing to time travel. Love graphic novels haven't recovered from reading locke and key the premise of that was so damn cool. DC comics. Murder mysteries. Fantasy. Detective. Horror. Will basically read anything except romance novels or love triangle stuff. Although I have a set of romance paperbacks from the 40s and they are the funniest thing ever. Tolkien. Agatha Christie. Philip Pullman. Currently reading the umbrella academy.
Comfort Movies: LOTR it's so good that it's so hard not to cry at it, like you know sometimes when you listen to music and you get an ethereal otherworldly feeling and sometimes in nature you get that feeling, watching lotr causes that feeling too. The Iron Giant. Casper. Coraline. Aladdin.
Last movie I watched was the foo fighters movie Studio 666
Last tv episode i watched is taskmaster
Some hobbies are embroidery, reading, listening to music. Will listen to any music. Comfort music is Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Emeli Sandi, GNR Don't Cry. Fav band is The Foo Fighters and Twenty One Pilots. Others I like are Kflay, In This Moment, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Donna Summer, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, The Scorpions, Jinjer, Kylie Minogue, Queen. Violet Orlandi. Avril Lavigne. I'm gonna stop now cuz I've already said way too many.
Things I like about myself: I like that I'm trying, I like that I have a much better routine, I like that I don't hold grudges, I'm strangely proud that I got hufflepuff on pottermore 😂
My clothing style theoretically is a mix of vintage 30s-70s and 90s. Although in practice cuz I don't really leave the house I mostly wear pyjamas or tshirts that I've sewed my fav lyrics onto. I wear long clothing to cover myself for a variety of reasons.
Insecurities: really shy legit can count my irl friends on one hand and honestly if it weren't for the effort on thier part I probably wouldn't even have any friends right now, mental illness plus being kind of a recluse isn't the best for maintaining relationships, faded marks on my face where I use to have acne, scar on my forehead from cracking it open, don't like the sound of my voice, this is a weird one but I'm insecure about the size of my skull I dunno I just don't think it's right 😂
I match you with...
Eddie Munson!
He tells you that you don’t have anything to worry about and that he can and will protect you from any harm...and ends up tripping on his own feet two seconds later.
You’re both book nerds and lotr lovers, he would probably point out any incosistencies between books and movies but he loves the movies too.
Sometimes you exchange reading reccomendations when you don’t have any idea on what to read next and end up discussing in depth the plots.
He really likes your music taste and hopes that the music he does with his band will impress you.
We all know that slytherins and hufflepuffs are the best duo.
Lets you borrow any of his shirts if you want to.
He prefers staying home too so you’re stuck with him bothering you.
He finds it endearing that you’re shy and he’s usually the one speaking when you’re in public.
I hope you enjoyed it.

heard you like talking about music. oooooo you wanna give me album recs so bad oooooooooo !!!!! please i'll take anything
Okay so you specifically requested albums and not outright songs so I'll stick with just albums for now (I'll also highlight the titles and artists so if you don't wanna read the paragraph of info I'll inevitably type up, you can just look for the bright parts. Also under a read more cause I'm gonna type a lot)
Music special interest ACTIVATE
Of course as the CEO of Loving Autoheart, I have to rec literally everything they've done, but specifically their albums Punch and I Can Build a Fire, as every song on both of them are amazing (except maybe Feel (Intro) on I Can Build a Fire since it's just an instrumentally kinda strange intro to the album, but that's fine)
What Could Go Wrong by Red Vox is also full of bangers that starts on a strong note and ends a bit soft but good. Like you start out punching bricks and end up vibing and mellowing out, especially at the end of the last song In a Dream, it's just Binyot on his guitar fucken vibing and it's great. If you want more, then try Another Light, it has most of my fav Red Vox songs on it, but I can't listen to it all in a row like I can with What Could Go Wrong
The Trick to Life by The Hoosiers has 12 songs and I'm a huge fan of 9 of them. Legit most of the songs you'll hear from them are from this album. Except maybe Up to No Good from The Secret Service or Choices and Who Said Anything (About Falling in Love) from The Illusion of Safety
Oh also obligatory shout out to all three Under the Covers albums by Ninja Sex Party. It's nice to hear classic songs if you know them, and it's nice to find new classic songs if you don't
Everything Went Numb by Streetlight Manifesto is just so fucking punchy and good and I love it (though just saying A Moment of Silence is on here and the Dan P cover of it is far superior imo). Somewhere in the Between and The Hands That Thieve are also good (especially the former cause it has Would You Be Impressed? and We Will Fall Together)
Attention Seeker by Felix Hagan & The Family is a weird one cause like, it's chockablock full of absolute bangers but they're so tonally different. Like you go from a fast, rockin song about wanting someone more than anything else in the world immediately to a slower, lowkey jam about a lower class guy in love with someone who's higher class, immediately into just an instrumentally weird song about not going to meet someone bc the singer just doesn't wanna Like it's weird and all over the place But I love it Seriously the dude's voice alone is worth it. Plus the last song is just the best and kinda inspirational in a "nothing matters, do what you wanna do" kinda way
I imagine most people at this point know about Mystery Skulls but I'm recommending Forever anyway. Just about every song on it is amazing and catchy and worth listening to over and over again. Seriously, Mystery Skulls is rly good and if you haven't heard any of their stuff, you gotta. (also one of their songs was in the show Lucifer which is fucking sweet ngl)
P much all of the Camp Camp soundtracks are legit good. The first one is a collection of songs (some of which are v nsfw so be careful around those if you're a minor) from a bunch of people, but seasons 2-4 have all the music done by Richie Branson. Season 2 is my favorite of them all, but I've been warming up to season 3 lately
Room for Squares by John Mayer was legit one of my fav albums growing up. I kinda fall off after City Love but those first 6 songs are all so incredibly good and I love them
Electra Heart by MARINA is (unsurprisingly) ALSO full of bops. It's the one that most of her most well known songs are from
El Reno Blues by Pecos Hank is p neat- I don't know a lot of the songs on it but it's an album by my favorite storm chaser so I'll put it here anyway
Humba Humba Täterä and Ska Makes Everything Better by Skameleon is just a shitload of really good ska covers of non ska songs (special shout out to Tetris Sex Bomba which is literally a mashup of the Tetris theme and Sex Bomb by Tom Jones that's done as a ska song. And it works really well)
Until this Shakes Apart by Five Iron Frenzy came out at the end of last year and is packed full of scathing social commentary on things like gun control, billionaires, hatred of the LGBTQ, and other current topics. The songs are angry and punchy and full of insanely good lines and will likely make you even more angry at the government and 1%. Except Homelessly Devoted to You which is way happier and (as far as I can tell) just about going on a road trip with someone you love. Either way, is rly good and I love (seriously, Bullfight for an Empty Ring was one of those songs I had on loop for a while)
Special shout out to the Grease 1 and 2 albums, both are good
and if you want good ABBA songs, ABBA Gold has them all okay thank you
#this was really fucking long but thank you for letting me go off abt music#it makes me rly happy ngl#music good#i lov#anyway hope it helps and if you want more please lemme know!

American Gods 1x05: Something to Believe In
After last week's dive into the life and times of Laura Moon, this week's American Gods returned to business as usual. Well as usual as things get on this show. This week once again begins with a Coming to America (easily one of my fav parts of the show) this time journeying back thousands of years to the Siberian Land Bridge migration. Rendered in striking animation the story follows a leader/priestess Atsula as she guides her people across the barren ice towards (hopefully) a better life. Nunyunnini, the tribes god represented by a mammoth skull, tells Atsula what she must do to secure her people's future, although it comes at a terrible price for both. Atsula sacrifices herself to the buffalo god (who looked very much like our friend the flaming eyed white buffalo) of the tribe occupying the land that will one day be called America. While the children of Atsula's tribe will live on, the memory of Nunyunnini is forgotten and the god dies. Besides stunning visuals, this scene also offered some interesting thematic tie ins for the series as a whole. We have been introduced to many gods, both new and old, whose primary concern seems to be garnering power by any means necessary. Although they are obsessed with worship and gaining adoration, it's a one way street. None of the deities we have met in the present would likely make the sacrifice made by Nunyunnini, and it draws their motives into sharper relief. We know now that Mr. Wednesday is amassing an army of old gods to "take on" the new gods, but to what end? Ensured survival? Additional worship? Could it actually be to save the hearts and minds of people corrupted by modern trappings such as media and technology? We'll get to more of this later on.
Moving on we see Shadow open the door to his dead wife for the third time now, except this time we finally get to move forward. After her brush with death, Laura's capacity for belief has widened considerably. In her second chance at life Laura is finally able to understand Shadow’s love and belief in her, and she is desperate to return to the (literal) light of his love. But while dying may have given Laura a new outlook, it didn't make her a saint. And while she is finally able to embrace her love for Shadow, Laura Moon is still kind of an asshole. While Shadow struggles with the emotional ramifications of being reunited with his cheating (dead) wife, Laura wants nothing more than to cut to the happy ending.
Glossing over the emotional pain both her departure and return have caused, Laura attempts to manipulate Shadow into returning to his former role as her 'puppy'. But just as Laura is not the woman she was, Shadow too has been changed by recent experiences. While Laura is finally learning what it means to believe in something, Shadow is coming to terms with the end of the relationship that was the center of his own beliefs. However the belief Shadow had in Laura has left a very convenient void, ready to be filled with belief in something (or someone) else. It is interesting to note as well that Mr. Wednesday is so eager to get Shadow away from the person who used to fill that void...
Speaking of Shadow and Wednesday, the two of them are arrested and carted off to the local jail for their bank scam. Brought back to the station and questioned, Mr. Wednesday drops probably the most direct story exposition we have gotten thus far. Yes he is recruiting, yes he is trying to get the scariest gods, yes Nancy is still in the mix (we have yet to see him thus far outside of his Coming to America).Yes a bit of a cheap device, but also very much welcome in a show that hasn't stated a lot flat out. Meanwhile an always astute Tracie Thoms correctly surmises that there is something or someone much bigger and scarier after Wednesday and Shadow than they are capable of dealing with on their own. She is right, but the victory is short lived as that someone/something shows up and kills everyone with sentient wood (!?!?!?!). Sidebar but I am dying to know more about the eye in the killer wood. I feel like if wood was a god it would be an old god, yet this wood seems to be doing the bidding of new god leader Mr. World. Every frame brings new mystery here on American Gods.
Moving on from the wood (make up your own pun, I am lazy), Shadow and Wednesday are met with every new god we have met thus far. After playing an image conscious David Bowie earlier in the episode, Gillian Anderson stuns once again as a haunting Marilyn Monroe. Anderson's portrayal of these pop culture icons is not only exact but also deeply (and delightfully) unnerving. While her impressions of the famous figures are well crafted, the underlying menace she brings to these media darlings we think we know is nothing short of brilliant. I would also love to see Media inhabit perhaps some more abstract representations of popular media, or Agent Scully. Omg can you imagine? I'm imagining right now.
Anywho Marlyn proceeds to introduce Mr. World, the new god of globalization. And just like the mega-corporations with international control who worship at his alter, Mr. World is terrifying. A well deployed Crispin Glover is always equal parts wonderful and soul chilling, and this his use here is just about as good as it gets with his ability to seem not quite human put to perfect use. While "I Love Lucy" was sent to woo Shadow, Mr. World has come with a pitch for Wednesday himself, and what a pitch it is. In an eerily timely sequence Mr. World offers Wednesday his name on the side of a missile guidance satellite over North Korea as a way to give Wednesday the worship he needs to survive via the fear and destruction the missiles launched by that satellite would bring to the populace below. Mr. World also confirms that Wednesday is in fact the god Odin (there have been many clues but never stated outright) and as we learned from the very first Coming to America, Odin accepts worship payment in blood and violence.
Beyond giving definitive answers to some of the plot, the series is now also tightening it's grasp on it's theme of the power and meaning of believe. The North Korea sequence particularly was a reminder of the thrall that storytelling and belief can hold, and what the consequences of that belief might be. We need look no further than America's current political situation and the deep rooted belief many people have that the way they perceive and understand things are the way things are (truth or lack thereof notwithstanding).
Finally, Bruce Langley, the last of the trio of new gods, also continues to be deliciously annoying and his half-assed apology for lynching Shadow couldn't have been better written by Twitter itself. Despite the fact that Tech Boy has the wisdom and patience of a standard comments section, he is right in pointing out that Mr. World has time and time again passed up the opportunity to vanquish his foe. Like so many before him, Mr World is a villain who when confronted with his prey decides to monologue instead of taking final action. It is clear there is something more to Mr. World's plan than simply ending Mr. Wednesday and his uprising, but what that is remains to be seen. Mr. World also describes Wednesday as an individualist, a mistake in his eyes in a world where true power is achieved through corporations and branding. America itself faces a similar battle, the country has long prided itself on it’s spirit of individualism especially in the pursuit of the “American Dream”. However as that dream becomes harder and harder to achieve America is facing an identity crisis, are we Mr. Wednesday or Mr, World? Wednesday also notes that he is getting bigger every year, which in some ways is true. In our time with Wednesday his powers have grown bit by bit, from pulling off basic cons, to now commanding animals, it seems as if Wednesday really is on the up, branding or no,
But although this episode was forthcoming with many elements about what has been going on, there are still plenty of question marks left on the table. As the series goes on it becomes tighter and more concise, the narrative threads more clear, the over arching themes more tangible. The best and worst thing about American Gods is every episode introduces more and more dynamic performances, fascinating plots, and mind blowing aesthetic. It is negative only in the sense it leaves me wanting so much more, we are introduced to characters and then must fiercely miss them (Bilquis, Nancy, Audrey, Low-Key, to name a few). It is effective though because at the end of every episode I am wanting more, and more, and more.
Next week: More.
XO MD
PS How much fun is Laura/Mad Sweeney chemistry? As Bryan Fuller said in the after show clip, it is extremely satisfying to watch a dick be a dick to another dick. I love that Laura continues to be written the way most male character' on TV are written. She is selfish, and entitled, and depressed, and in love, and sometimes she sucks, and sometimes she tells other dicks where to shove it. Surprise, she's a person (just a little bit more dead).
