ATTENTION DUELISTS
I JUST THOUGHT UP A COOL ASS YU-GI-OH AU WITH SPRINKLED IN PRIDESHIPPING, BUCKLE UP FOR THIS RIDE-
I call it...
The Wings of Light AU
So we all know that Yami Yugi intercepted the blast of fire from the Winged Dragon of Ra during Mai's duel with Yami Marik(ima call him Melvin in this post. If you know, you know) to save her and Joey, right?
I got to thinking. Yami is a Pharaoh, and therefore has a tight connection with the Egyptian Gods, even if he can't remember his past. What if Ra, seeing Yami's courage and strength as he shields his friends, recognizes his Pharaoh's selflessness despite being under Melvin's control, and rewards it?
Ra uses the last of the flames in his attack to transfer a portion of his power to Yami(which will store itself in the Puzzle when Yugi is in control). As Yami falls to the ground after protecting his friends, burns mar his back past the burned remnants of his clothes(seriously, how the actual hell did his clothes NOT burn in the anime? WTF kind of material is the jacket made of?).
But what's startling is how the burns are shaped exactly like wings.
Yami is dragged back to Yugi's room so his friends can look after him, and Kaiba, while in awe of Ra's power, has this strange feeling inside him. That something is transpiring that they all cannot see.
Kaiba duels Ishizu in the background(you know the duel) while Yugi's friends tend to Yami, who's burning up with a bad fever as Ra's power tries to settle into his body. He refuses to give Yugi control in order to protect him from the pain, but only hurts himself.
Kaiba returns from his duel, shaken by the visions of his past and feeling split in two, like his past and present selves are trying to coexist at once. He wonders if this is what Yugi deals with, mind flashing back to Yami's collapse, and something unknown compels him to check on Yami. Obviously when he turns up in Yugi's room, everyone gets suspicious, even more so when Kaiba says he was simply checking in.
Joey, of course, demands a more concise answer, and Kaiba admits it; "I came to check on the Pharaoh"
Deadly silence follows. Kaiba has just admitted Yugi and the Pharaoh are two different people. Kaiba of all people is coming around. Kaiba reluctantly admits what happened during his duel with Ishizu, he himself feeling torn apart into two identities, on of past and one of present.
At that moment, the wing-shaped burns on Yami's back start to glow, diverting their attention, and they feel Ra's power filling the room. Melvin also senses Ra's energy and comes skulking out of the shadows to see the weakened Pharaoh. He sees an opportunity to take out the Pharaoh, but Kaiba, ever alert, detects Melvin and steps forward to defend Yami(He doesn't understand why he's suddenly so protective, but fuck it. If Yami dies, the Geek Squad will NEVER let it go and Kaiba does not want to deal with that nightmare, tyvm.), demanding Melvin leave at once.
Melvin simply knocks Kaiba aside with the power of the Millennium Rod, and Kaiba strikes the wall, more visions appearing(having been triggered by the Rod's power), and he cries out in pain.
His cry somehow reaches Yami, and something inside the unconscious Pharaoh snaps and he's suddenly awake and hellbent on dealing wrath to whoever just hurt Kaiba. There's a bright light, and suddenly Yami is tackling Melvin to the ground, huge golden wings having sprouted from his back, identical to the Winged Dragon of Ra's wings. The room feels warm like the sun, and Yami exudes a calming, yet powerful energy as he demands Melvin leave at once or suffer severe punishment.
Melvin flees the scene, not knowing why the Pharaoh now has Ra's power when he still holds the God Card, but he's determined to find out why.
Meanwhile, Yami calms down, and realizes the pain of his burns are gone, and turns to check his back, and sees the wings that he's sprouted. He realizes it's Ra's power, and while he's sure anyone would be excited and honored to be bestowed such a gift, he's also afraid. What did this mean for Yugi? Would Yugi be able to handle Ra's power?(Luckily, they quickly discover the wings and Ra's power are only present when Yami Yugi is in control, as Ra recognized Yugi is still too inexperienced with magic to handle such a gift of power yet.)
Kaiba, who is regaining his composure, is completely floored by Yami's wings, finding himself...drawn to the Pharaoh in some way. Not liking having feelings, Kaiba hastily thanks the Pharaoh, before fleeing himself, clearly shaken. Joey of course calls Kaiba ungrateful, but Tea shakes her head and says Kaiba looked scared. Yami feels weird, hoping it's not him Kaiba is afraid of.
THAT'S AS FAR AS I'VE GOTTEN WITH IT BUT IM DEFINITELY GONNA WORK ON WRITING A FANFIC ABOUT THIS ONE AFTER I FINISH THE ONE I'M ALREADY WORKING ON.
(also if anyone wants to make art of Yami with Ra's wings I HIGHLY encourage it because that's just a cool concept all on it's own)

You've got me curious about Museumshipping. How would Ishizu try to fix Bakura?
This is kinda long. Sorry for the wait, and any scatter brained nonsense.
This is mostly speculation and Divine Intuition, but the main reason I think Ishizu could fix Yami Bakura is because she seems like the only neutral character in Yugioh. She’s also the only character with no real beef with him.
Like, Yami Bakura has made enemies with everyone else except Ishizu.
Shadi doesn’t like him because he killed him and most of the Plana
Pegasus probably doesn’t like him because he stole his millennium eye and killed him
Yugi doesn’t like him because he tried to steal the puzzle and kill/hurt his friends and lied to him about being a changed person
The rest of the Yugi gang don’t like him for the same reasons (tho I think Tristan would probably hate him the most because he pays the most attention to Ryou)
Ryou sure as hell ain’t trying to redeem him unless it’s right after he dies
Ghost and the Gang are in hell because of him (I hope he sent them to the cool hell)
Marik doesn’t like him because he just doesn’t like him
Odion probably doesn’t like him because he inadvertently got Marik killed by Yami Marik and he just does whatever Marik wants.
Mai probably doesn’t like him because of how he treats the Yugi gang
Aigami fucking hates him
No one else knows who he is
So, that leaves Ishizu as his last option to help at redemption. From what I’ve seen in the anime adaptation, Ishizu doesn’t see Yami Bakura as much of a threat (due to her necklace) and Yami Bakura just flat out has no clue who she is. I think these factors would make them willing to not only interact, but also maybe help each other out.
Maybe since Ishizu wants to protect ancient artifacts, and Yami Bakura likes stealing them. They both benefit by having Ishizu possibly pay him to go and find any missing artifacts. I just get the feeling that since he’s technically King of Thieves whether you think he’s more Zorc or not, he could find them pretty easily. I think he’d like having an excuse to steal.
There’s also the fact that since Ishizu has the power to look into the past, she could see everything that’s happened to Yami Bakura and begin to understand and sympathize with why he wants the items and why he hates Yami.
She snoops in his past more and more and starts to resent the Pharaoh, but she’s scared of what will happen if she betrays him.
I think it’d be interesting to see her having an internal conflict about this because she was raised to serve the Pharaoh, but at the same he hurt Yami Bakura in ways that can’t ever be forgiven.
Ishizu being the only other person to know both sides of the story could be important to Yami Bakura getting redeemed.
And now time for this plot bunny that has been stuck in my head for a few months.
I think that in the situation where Yami Bakura got his own body sometime after the Memory World arc, he’d fall on some pretty hard times. Not as hard as it could be since he’s the greatest thief to ever exist, but he is homeless, jobless, motivationless, and he probably thinks he’s worth nothing and is a failure. Not because he tried to end the world or anything, but because his revenge plan just didn’t work.
I like to imagine that Ishizu found him one day, pitied him, and decided to let him stay at her house until he feels well enough to get an apartment. She tells him that everything in her house is just as much his as it is hers (to kill any desire to steal since it’s already his. Yes it would work), she makes him food whenever he has no energy to get up, she reasures him that he isn’t a failure just because this one revenge plot didn’t work out for him, and she comforts him.
Over time, Yami Bakura starts to feel bad. Not about hurting Yugi and the gang, but he does feel a little stupid for trying to end the world. The world that Ishizu lives in. This could lead him to trying to help Ishizu around the house to show her mild gratitude, giving her small gifts (usually a hair accessory), and attempting to cook for her. That usually ends in a disaster. A disaster that Yami Bakura expects to get yelled at for and maybe kicked out. To his surprise, that doesn’t happen. Ishizu just laughs at his misfortune with cooking and helps him clean up the mess.
I like to think that at that moment, they slowly begin to fall in love.
Of course I have other ideas for them, but this one has been eating away at me for a long time. It’s such a shame that this could only work as a slow burn longfic because I wanna write so bad.

linagram season 3 announcement!
Tumblr media
hi hi everyone! thank you so much for waiting! i'm glad to say that linagram season 3 is finally starting!! this post will contain a short summary of season 2 that you can read in case you forgot anything or if you don't know much about linagram but still want to participate and a list of everything you can expect from season 3 (things like voice dramas, interrogations, you get it).
you can read about the first season here.
linagram has (or more like.. used to have) two guards and ten prisoners. the guards' names are (last name, first name order) sanada eiji and andou miki. the prisoners' names are miyagawa akio, hanasaki aimi, ishizu shun, chiba naomi, sanada kei (yes, him and eiji are brothers), yoshioka eiko, yano asahi (who is actually miki's brother), maruyama yurika, kuroki riku and himura reina.
however, season 2 was.. quite intense. because of an injury that happened because the prisoners were somehow able to touch him (and it later turned out to be a punishment for not being a "good guard") sanada eiji had to take a break from being a guard, so the new guard came to take his place- ah, but not, like, completely replace him! he's just here to help miki so that she doesn't feel too lonely, haha..
anyway, i hope you will greet the third guard of the milgram prison, kuroki hinode (riku's older brother), with open arms.
the trial results were much more polarizing than the season 1 results too.
if season 1 ended with seven innocent prisoners and three guilty ones, season 2 ended with five innocent prisoners and five guilty ones. (though to be more specific, one of them actually got a 50/50 verdict, so in the end we went with her canon trial 2 verdict: guilty).
the five innocent prisoners are miyagawa akio, hanasaki aimi, sanada kei, yano asahi and himura reina.
the five guilty prisoners are ishizu shun, chiba naomi, yoshioka eiko, maruyama yurika and kuroki riku.
a lot happened after the trial too. since sanada eiji, who was responsible for punishing the guilty prisoners, got injured, it was kuroki hinode's responsibility to come up with a new punishment. he decided to go with something that the guards simply call a "memory machine": a small device that they can use to "steal" the prisoner's memories. they can take any memories they like and they can give them back whenever they want. i sure wonder how that went..
the prisoners also got some presents in the christmas special and uh.. this may sound weird, but i think you should pay attention to those presents more. they are actually kind of important.
one prisoner even found out that her parents are most likely associated with milgram and they may even be responsible for all of this.. how scary..
but oh well! that's all for season 2!
now, let's take a look at what awaits us in season 3.
i know that it would most likely be better to post a schedule and i know that people can miss something but. i find schedules too stressful, because my life is just. like that and i'm afraid i won't be able to follow it. (i know i can just queue stuff or something but the tumblr queue has failed me before. i do not trust it)
but if you need to know when you can expect an update, i try to post stuff weekly or at least once in two weeks.
i use tumblr polls and everyone's trials last a week simply because 1) i am impatient and 2) i just think that's enough.
the prisoners' voice dramas usually get posted once in a week (but there may be exceptions) and each pair's interrogation usually gets posted a week after the both prisoners' voice dramas. (all interrogations have already been written) each voice drama also includes the prisoner's music video description and a poll.
anyway, this is how season 3 will go!
- linagram season 3 albums info (album covers, original song titles, cover songs, album trailer + song trailer voicelines)
- linagram season 3 designs info (this time we're going without the character profiles, apologies for that. instead of that, i will simply put all designs in one post and talk about them a little bit. hopefully i can show how the characters have changed through their designs and the voice dramas.)
- pre-t3 voice drama #01 (the linagram verdict system will be explained. i've made a poll earlier and asked if people would prefer the verdict system to be revealed or to stay a mystery and the first option won)
- pre-t3 voice drama #02 (this one is the usual discussion of the previous trial's verdicts and how they have affected the prisoners)
- miyagawa akio's trial
- hanasaki aimi's trial
- akio and aimi's interrogation
- ishizu shun's trial
- chiba naomi's trial
- shun and naomi's interrogation
- sanada kei's trial
- yoshioka eiko's trial
- kei and eiko's interrogation
- yano asahi's trial
- maruyama yurika's trial
- asahi and yurika's interrogation
- kuroki riku's trial
- himura reina's trial
- riku and reina's interrogation
- the end of the third trial voice drama
- [REDACTED]
-[REDACTED]
anyway yeah, that's it! please be careful with your verdicts everyone. this is the last trial after all.
(and no, voting them all innocent won't make it any better... sorry </3)

Hanahaki disease and Star tears head canons Part 3 of 3
Since i already wrote hanahaki headcanons for Bakura here , i will be replacing him with my girl Mai Valentine
Hanahaki Disease: An illness born from one sided love, where the victim's throat will fill up with flowers. They will then begin to throw up, or cough up the petals. In serious cases the flowers themselves. There are only two ways to get rid of the said disease. If the person the victim loves loves them back (strong friendship isn't adequate enough) or through surgery. If neither work the victim will suffocate on the flowers resulting in death.
Star Tears: The Sparkly star-like tears, accompanied with twlinking sounds. It's a disease that is caused by unrequited love. The only cure for these glimmering tears is for the love to be returned;  however, if they are not then the light from the shining stars will blind the victim.
Flowers mentioned:
Tulip: Love and, Confidence
Sunflower: Adoration, Loyalty
Hydrangea: Emotion, Understanding
Lychnis
Tumblr media
~Mai Valentine Stars tears:
~If she got the disease
Since she was little Mai knew she was meant to be alone. Her parents didn't want anything to do with her so what made her think anyone else wanted anything to do with her?
Yugi, and his friends that's what made her believe otherwise. She grew so attached to the group, and to you. You guys were what anchored her to earth when her thoughts took over, and she will always be thankful to them for that, but you ….you were different.
From the moment the two of you made eye contact she knew she wanted to be closer to you.
At first she thought it was because she wanted to be friends with you, but as time carried on and she spent more time with you she felt her heart race whenever you smiled at her, she noticed her eyes wonder to you when you guys hung out with the group.
She was in love with you and that alone terrified her. That fear turned into tears, and those tears turned into stars.
She knew what these stars were; she witnessed them first hand from a maid that worked in her parents' mansion.
She hated this, the feeling of fear and the blinding stars. So she decided to do the one thing she could do to get rid of the star. She was gonna confess her feelings for you.
Ever since she was a little girl she knew she was meant to be alone, and since the last thing she saw before the darkness took over  was you confessing to another she knew these words to be true.
She never felt so alone in the darkness she now faces.
~If you got the disease:
You knew the world was a beautiful place, even when dark forces try to take over the world the beauty always seemed to shine through.
It especially got brighter when Mai came into view, to you Mai was something that walked out of your dreams, and you felt lucky enough to know her.
The more she hung out with the group however, the more you came to have feelings for the woman. Everything about her called out to you, and you would be stupid to refuse the call. However, that wasn't in the cards for you.
You werent the one she had eyes for, she had eyes for Joey, and as much as you wanted to steal her attention away from the blonde you couldn't bring yourself to do it.
You could tell from the looks of both of them that it was mutual, and you couldn't take that away from them or push your feelings on to her.
So instead you acted unaffected as their relationship escalated from friendship to more, but that tough act only lasted so long before the tears came into effect and your ability to see started to leave.
You never went to the doctor to find out why these tears were there because they helped not see the love that flourished between Joey and Mai. So when you finally lost your sight due to the tears you found it both a blessing and a curse.

~Yami Bakura Hanahaki disease:
~If he got the disease:
The Thief King remembers what his village was like Before it was destroyed, he also remembered you. The person who despite his mean demour went out of their way to befriend him.
He thought nothing of you at first, but as time continued he despised your company less and less till he eventually looked forward to it.
Your smile was more dazzling then any stone he has ever seen, you sparkled like the star at night, and your beauty rivaled the queens.
He knew he was in love with you but didnt know how to approach such a subject. He was used to the roughness of the streets, not your gentle caress. He didn't have much time to think on how to approach it until the flowers started growing in his lungs.
He didn't know what he hated more, the fact that he was in love with you, or the flowers growing in his lungs.
He didn't try to beat around the bush, when they first started growing he seeked you out immediately. When you greeted him with your bright smile he felt the flowers growing more.
“(y/n)” he gruffed ”….i think i love you”  you surprised that the tall rough man was the first to say it.
The only thing you could do was jump into his arms, and hold him close.
Bakura didn't know why he thought of that memory when he saw the (h/c) walk past him,but he suddenly felt the flowers once again.
~If you got the disease:
Growing up in a small village you knew everyone, well almost everyone. So you made it your goal to get to know Bakura. I took a lot of time and effort to befriend the gruff man.
He made it difficult to get close to him, but eventually you did. Even though he hated when you got close he never pushed you away, even though he hated when you talked to him he never asked you to stop, and even though he said you were the most annoying thing he has ever come across he protects you wherever you get in trouble.
You fell for him, and you fell for him hard. As much as you wanted to avoid him you couldn't. You were drawn to him like a moth to a flame.
Even as the flowers began to grow in your lungs you couldn't stay away. You got better at hiding the flowers from Bakura, but not from the others.
The local healer noticed the flowers spewing from your mouth as you hid in on the many alleys, but she wasn't the only one who noticed.
When you told Bakura that you had errands to run he became suspicious, so he followed you to check on you. Him and the doctor rushed to your side. The doctor sat you down so you could get your breath back. Mindlessly the doctor told you and Bakura what the disease was and what could happen. Bakura looked at you upset and worried.
“Who is it then (y/n)?! Don't let this take you from me!” you looked at him with tears in your eyes. “Its you,” you whispered.
The doctor excused herself as Bakura grabbed your wrist  and pulled you to him.
Bakura was a rough man, but he has never been so gentle as when he held you like this, and here you knew that no matter what you were safe with him.
Tumblr media
~Yami Marik Star Tears:
~If he got the disease:
Yami Marik didn't have the time for feelings, he had a plan set in motion. However fate had other plans for him. When he saw you at Kaiba’s side during battle city, he knew he had to have you at HIS side.
He tried everything to get you, but everytime he tried it was either foiled or you were surrounded by too many people. He didn't know how to go about this, and this frustrated him more than anything.
That's when the tears appeared. They fell endlessly from his eyes and it irritated him more that he didn't understand how to stop them.
While the others were in the virtual world Marik stayed in his room trying to get rid of the tears. That's when you walked in.
You walked calmly to his side “star tears..” he side eyed you as you explained the effects of the disease. You kneeled down to his level, and put his face in your hands. “The future Pharaoh can't go blind.”
Slight confusion came across his face before it was replaced with a smirk “The heal your Pharaoh” the two of you shared a kiss as the tears faded. Now it was time for him to take over the world with you at his side.
~If you got the disease:
You have been friends with Kaiba brothers for a long time, and that had some perks. Like getting into the battle city finals without dueling, and getting to see this demon named Marik.
As you watched him fight Mai something in you felt a fire that you never felt before, and you knew then that you wanted to follow him into whatever pits of hell he came from.
The problem with these new affections was the tears that soon followed. You knew what these tears were, and you knew how to stop them
Or so you thought When Noah called all duelists to meet with him that unfortunately meant you as well. So you end up in their little charade as you slowly lose your sight.
When you finally did lose your sight in the virtual and real world you distanced yourself from everyone until you eventually faded from everyone's memory.
Tumblr media
~Marik Ishtar Hanahaki disease:
~If he got disease:
Marik has known you for years due to your loyalty to his family. He was close to you, closer then he has ever been with anyone.
Even after he ran off vowing to take down the pharaoh you stayed by him, and acted as one of the rare hunters.
With the more time he spent with you the more his affections grew for you, and he came to realize how much he loved you.
However before the flowers grew Ishizu warned him of the future he had with you, he ignored her warnings but never forgot them.
So when the flowers began to grow in his lungs he knew why, and thus he sent you on less missions just to keep you at his side.
The flowers grew more and more until he couldn't take it anymore. So one night he pulled you aside away from all ears.
When you went to question him he stopped you with a kiss “I want…..no i need you (s/o) only you are worthy to stand by my side.”  Though you were surprised you accepted his affections and hugged him tightly. “You forever have me my Pharaoh.”
~If you got the disease:
Working for the Ishtar family was never easy, but you enjoyed the company of your younger master Ishizu and Marik. They both treated you like one of their own, and you couldn't be happier.
However Marik was the one you longed for, but you knew you couldn't be with him. You were but a simple servant and nothing more.
When he left the tomb to start his hunt for the Pharaoh, despite Ishizu’s wishes you followed him, and that when the flowers began to grow.
Because you became a rare hunter you were able to hide the flowers from not only Marik, but the rest of the followers.
It stayed this way until you couldn't take the flowers anymore and you eventually went to the hospital, the doctors told you of the disease, and your options. Instead of taking the first option you got the surgery to remove the flowers.
You may not have feelings for your master, but you can at least still be loyal to him, and that's all that matters to you.

【H-el-ical//】pulsation MV【Official Video】
•————— ♬ —————•
Now that was a lovely little video, 13 minutes worth of insight. YAY for that.  Seems like both Hikaru and Hideyuki Gushimiyagi will talk a bit about their work and then another creater involved in the project will answer three questions on a questionnaire regarding the specific song. Fans are also invited to ask more questions and Hikaru will try to reply to them at a later point. Everyone be sure to LIKE Hikaru’s videos and SUBSCRIBE to her YouTube Channel!! Seems like every week there is going to be a new video in this series so please look forward to it!
Summary/Highlights below the cut 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→
Her two albums have had a limited release so she hasn’t really talked in depth about all of the songs on these albums. That’s why she thought a video series like this would be a good idea. Hikaru is joined by her composer Hideyuki Gushimiyagi (called Gushi-kun by Hikaru). Before the two met, Gushi had already written two songs and sent the demos to her (”pulsation” being one of them. He let himself be inspired by her work in Kalafina, the impression she left on him was used to write those first two songs). Gushi wanted the first song to be a sort of introduction to Hikaru as a solo artist and he was very nervous since he thought he had some big shoes to fill after Kalafina. They did end up discussing the sample and it gradually took shape.
As we all know, this was the first time Hikaru wrote lyrics. Transitioning into her solo activities was a big stept into a new world and a new mental state. For this occasion she wanted to write motivational lyrics full of life, power and positivity. She really wanted some momentum for her debut so it would leave a lasting impression not only on people who already knew her from Kalafina but also on people who discovered her for the first time. The song (especially the last verse) was meant to be like a flashback scene. Hikaru was very nervous during the recording since she had never worked together with anyone other than YK so to hear someone else’s thoughts was kinda strange.
Now they are talking about the PV illustrations and what kind of image they wanted to convey with it. Seems like for the first video the design was heavily inspired by Hikaru’s ideas/lyrics/singing. For later PV designs they didn’t really involve Hikaru too much in the process it seems. Hikaru brings up the questionnaire with three questions answered by the PV’s illustrator Kachiru Ishizue.
What was your impression when you first heard the song?: A quiet sense of fluttering, the strong flap of wings, something that seemed suitable for a debut song: And yeah, that’s pretty much the image of the song as intended by Gushi, a jump start into a wide world
Any difficulties in the making of the illustrations? Apparently Hikaru had asked for a vast scenery that was very nostalgic and classical with little to no colour. That proved a bit difficult since the illustrator didn’t really know how to do the plants with her colours.
Anything you want the viewers to pay attention to while watching the video? The strings, Hikaru’s strong vocals and the stylish video design

Hey there anyone who’s still here after the blog took a big drop in activity before I moved it over to be a side of a different one. While over the like, 5 some years there’s a semi-good follower count, I’m also aware a lot of people have gone inactive or stopped using tumblr. But that’s besides the point, I thought of this because I sorta? have followers?
I’d like to give a spotlight/shoutout to artists that don’t get enough attention. (As much as I’d love to do this for fics too, I sadly don’t have the time to read them and make sure they are what they advertised [i.e. things that say they don’t have lemons but it does])
So! I’d like you all to send in (Anon or not) artist URLS that you think deserve more love in the askbox! (Yes you can send in yourself too) And I’ll try to reblog their work and maybe help them get some traction! The details of HOW and the Criteria I will be using is below the cut so I don’t take up the dash but PLEASE read it before sending someone in!
Criteria:
I will only be reblogging ygo art. If they have other ones on their blog that’s totally fine
Their art is NOT nsf.w centric. Having some is okay, especially if it’s tagged. But if its say... 90% or more stuff like that, for my own comfort I don’t want to have to scroll though a bunch of art of that nature to find the few ones that are safe for all ages.
No fanart depicting i/cest ships or ships of characters who when they met one was an adult and the other was a minor or had too big of an age difference at that time (such as Kaiba x Serenity). Or ships between a minor and an adult. Also some characters like Mai and Ishizu’s canon age are older then they seem, please take this into account before submitting! This is for my own comfort.
I would prefer the person to have things tagged in general so I can find things easier.
You can also put a snapshot of what kind of art the artist does or a few kind words to the artist in the ask, I’ll tag them and I’m sure they’d be happy to hear from you!
Keep in mind I am looking mostly for people who DON’T get much attention or notes. People that get 1k+ notes may get reblogged naturally already anyway.
Yugioh OC’s are fine! I will tag them so people can block that tag if they would like.
Also please check the person you’re sending in isn’t a re-poster that steals things from googl.e and whatnot without permission or commissioning the artist. (And if I ever make a mistake and reblog a reposter Please kindly let me know, so I cant take it down and let people know)

A long read, but --
/ I started feeling a little burnout muse-wise on both blogs, so I decided to go looking for some old YGO writings I have lying around. This one I found on my old (OLD) highschool laptop about one of my old-ish OCs Skyler, and a newer one I created last year, Cassandra. They’re both tied into the YGO universe, both of them working under Kaiba.
Skyler’s role really isn’t that substantial; she’s just the receptionist in KC’s lobby (she interacts more with Yugi and Co when they stroll in from time to time). Cassandra I made specifically to be Seto’s personal assistant, because I wanted to test the boundaries of my theory that he’d be more willing to place his trust and respect in women -- to a similar level that he trusts Roland and the other guy whose name I can’t remember ( rip, I’m sorry :c ). I hope that isn’t too ~social justice~ for anyone, because that really isn’t the intent -- it was more something I noticed while watching the series, aka, Seto’s few-and-far-between interactions with women ( see Tea/Anzu as a prime example; I don’t count Ishizu however, because she not only tried to make him believe something which he viewed as completely fictitious, but she also became an important rival during Battle City, and we all know how he treats his rivals ).
With that being said, I went ahead and threw Cassandra into the most uncomfortable and off-putting situation I could imagine in the beginning of the series: During Seto’s coma after his first duel with Yami Yugi. None of it’s truly canon to the tale, but I really enjoyed the outcome! And I hope you guys will, too, because I’m putting the whole thing under a cut. The very first part is obviously set further into the future than the rest of this story (I wanted to give myself the option of continuing it if I wanted to in-future).
“I feel as though I always understood – him, I mean. Mokuba has let little things slip here and there that have made me wonder. I don’t know if you have ever really listened, but I have.
“Boys don’t just grow up into men like him, yaknow? He’s holding back something so old… No, no. It’s more like he’s holding it in. Pushing it away. Shoving it down where he thinks it belongs – do I make any sense to you?”
Sitting at the back of a newly-built Kaiba Corp. cafe, Yugi nodded, and responded with a tone so nostalgic that made Cassandra feel more at ease with her thoughts.
“Believe me, I get it. I learned that a long time ago. He’s really something else.”
“To expect the unexpected” is a phrase very familiar to those dealing in the world of corporate business. Anything and everything could go wrong with the wrong move, the wrong people – it was simply a matter of being prepared. In most situations, Cassandra would have been.  As a secretary and part-time assistant of the young man Kaiba Corp., she had earned her place outside the CEO’s headquarters, as well a relative amount of trust between herself and the president’s younger brother and their bodyguard, Roland. Most days, her tasks would be laid out for her the moment she arrived, and throughout the day’s latter hours they would all be finished, one after the other. Impossible scheduling, massive file maintenance, keeping a watchful eye on every new schemer about to enter her boss’s abode – all standard tasks she had learned to keep rhythm with. Something felt very atypical on a morning she came in early, however. Everyone seemed on edge and quiet, as if afraid speaking might trigger an assassination. Walking through the Kaiba Corporation lobby was now strange and unfamiliar to Cassandra; like uncharted territory. She carried herself onward toward an elevator across the room, but not a soul looked away from their duties except to glance at her as she passed, looking back to their tasks once she was out of range. Not even the receptionist, Skyler, seemed happy as she usually was. The woman uttered a quiet “Welcome to Kaiba Corp.” to the sound of closing doors, and that was that. Cassandra’s first guess – a quick, short-sighted one – might have been that the bad weather starting off their day was affecting to blame, but rather than sticking to that idea, she felt the need to ask what was going on. She’d heard nothing so far from anyone in the room, no one had bothered to call, she had no e-mails -- If something serious had happened, where was the news? Why was she the last to know? Skyler, as good an acquaintance as she was, hadn’t bothered to warned her beforehand either.
“Have I done something wrong? Have I been fired? I wish someone would just say something!”
Changing her course of direction, Cassandra went to Skyler’s desk, gently tapping her head to get her attention.
“Skyler, did you not see me come in? What’s going on? What happened since yesterday?” She asked, growing concerned with each passing second.  She could feel the anxiety clawing at her back, reeling internally as it manifested in her voice. Skyler looked on at her in pity, as if she didn’t know what to say, but exhaled and attempted to answer anyway.
“Something happened to mister Kaiba last night. He’s in the hospital, supposedly in a coma, but for some reason nobody knows why. You… Saw him in school yesterday, right? I took yesterday off, so I don’t know anything about his whereabouts.”
Cassandra nodded, although her memory of actually seeing him was vague. She and the young man in question were roughly the same age, but Cassandra had tested out of the tenth grade long before Kaiba’s sudden enrollment, making it difficult for her to have seen him there in person. She did hear of “some new rich kid” arriving in a limousine, however, so by putting two and two together, she guessed that must have been him.
“Well,” Cassandra replied, “He came back here right after school that day – we arrived at the same time. But he left the building within the hour, school uniform and all – and he seemed so serious. Well, I mean; he’s always serious, but this was different. It kind of felt like… Rage.”
“It? You mean he was angry?”
“Oh! Yeah, that’s- that’s more what I meant. The air about him was really unpleasant at best, and I remember Mokuba insisting on going with him.”
“Poor kid…  Anyway, all I’ve heard is that he ended up on the other side of town where a new Dueling Arena is being constructed. The one with the technology our company and Industrial Illusions have been putting their resources into. Mokuba called an ambulance from there, and we’ve been told to go about business as usual. We’re not allowed to say a word to anyone outside this building – it’s all very hush-hush. So, sorry for the lack of forewarning.” Skyler ended with a sigh, her fingers tracing a circle on her forehead.
“Tensions are so high right now and we don’t even know what’s going on…”
The woman’s skepticism was apparent, though this wasn’t to say she didn’t feel concerned. Kaiba may have been a harsh young man, brash and unrelenting with his employees, but he was well-respected. No one wanted to think about what it might mean for Seto to die, for not only the company’s sake, but for Mokuba’s. It was common knowledge that the CEO Kaiba was Mokuba’s legal guardian, but as far as familial connections, that’s as far as it all went. No one knew what might come of the younger boy, should his brother not pull through.
Cassandra swallowed a dry lump in her throat and rubbed the tops of her hands.
“So anyway, some schmucks called The Big Five will be running things in his stead, and I really don’t think mister Kaiba would agree with what they’re doing. I can’t say for sure, but… I don’t know. I don’t know either of the boys personally, but I can’t help but feel like something isn’t right.”
By the tone of Skyler’s voice and the uncanny reversal of her usual mood, Cassandra had to agree.
“Do you think I should… Try to contact Mokuba or something? I really want to know if he’s alright. I’m not deeply familiar with them either, but I do know how much he loves his brother, and I don’t know if he has anyone to go to. Except for Roland, maybe…”
Cassandra was hesitant to take action despite having a strong urge to do so. She cared a great deal for both of the Kaiba brothers, but this was the CEO of Domino’s fastest growing corporation and his little brother she was dealing with. A different protocol was supposed to be taken with elites like them, but at the same time, Cassandra questioned what kind of person she would be if she let a little boy suffer in his time of need. Whether he be a middle-class citizen or the richest kid in the world, Mokuba was still just a child faced with the harsh reality of life and its worst outcome. It may not have been her job, or her place, but it was absolutely her duty to help a boy desperately in need of support. Or at least, that’s how she started to justify it in her head. Skyler’s input only served to strengthen her resolve.
“I think that’s a fine idea. I wish I could to it myself, but Mokuba seems to trust you more than the rest of us. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re on Roland’s level by now. Or, you’re close, at least. Does mister Kaiba trust you at all?”
“Oh, no, I’m not as close to them as you’re thinking. Mokuba likes me, sure, but he’s just a kid. I sneak him treats and keep him company when his brother is busy, but that’s the extent of it.” The humbleness of her tone belied what seemed to be an apparent truth to Skyler, but since she had no evidence, she decided to shrug the notion off.
“Still, though. Mokuba needs help, and I think you’re the perfect person for the job. Now, go! Don’t waste anymore time! Oh, and you might want to prepare a statement in case word gets out. Or, I mean – I could try to do that for you? I’m not exactly qualified, but I could give it a shot.”
Her sudden sudden burst of enthusiasm was enough to give Cassandra the kick she needed to get into gear. She thought about her friend’s offer a moment, but ultimately declined.
“No, no, it’s fine. If this is all as “hush-hush” as you said, then whoever writes the statement will have to speak with the current higher-ups, and I’ll be where they are anyway. I’ll call Mokuba first and then talk to them, no big deal.”
Except for the fact that it felt like a big deal. What anxiety felt like before, an unknowing and unseen dread, was now entirely anticipatory in nature. First the elevator. Then the stops. The people. The small-talk she hates when she’s thinking about bigger things – picking up the phone to finally make the call, not knowing what to expect on the other end. A flurry of thoughts, feelings, that too-familiar scratching at the back of her legs—
“Take a deep breath, Cass. It’s just a phonecall. This isn’t anything you haven’t done before.”
Skyler gave Cassandra one last eager smile, waving goodbye to her as she entered the elevator to the right of the desk. Once its doors shut, Cassandra pressed the button that would take her to the top floor, hoping- no, praying, that she wouldn’t get caught by too many stops. The building was quite large compared to the rest of the city, and held many more people than she thought it might need, and as such people coming in and out of elevators was no uncommon occurrence. She seemed to have luck in her favor, however, and had arrived to the designated floor almost in no time flat.
Cassandra had reached her station with little interaction to hold her back. There was that one guy from the fifth floor nobody wanted to get stuck with, but that was the least of her concerns. The moment the doors in front of her opened up, she made a bee-line to her desk, promptly setting her work bag below it before sitting down. A conference room down the hall was open and buzzing with conversation – unusual for that time of day, but not shocking. “The Big Five” were apparently in charge for the time being, so she figured it must have been them in that room. Cassandra’s curiosity would normally have overwhelmed her if it weren’t for little Mokuba looming over her thoughts, though she had caught a quick glance of a man’s face through the doorway. She squinted her eyes as if trying to erase the interest of what was going on, looking to her bag to keep his gaze from turning to her. She then bent down, taking her cell phone out of the bag, sitting upright once more to find Mokuba’s contact. Although he wasn’t necessarily supposed to, the boy had given her his phone number and received hers in turn for emergencies (and emergency snacks). It was a rare thing to get a call from Mokuba, as Cassandra generally wasn’t far from him at any given time, but one situation did come up once where Roland was not available to pick him up from school, leaving Seto to hesitantly entrust her with getting Mokuba from there to the company building. His trust was well-placed, as he was nearly relieved to see, but an incident like that never came up again – Seto, of course, made sure of that. Secretly Cassandra wished it might happen again, as she enjoyed hearing about the boy’s day, how he couldn’t wait to show his big brother a good grade, how well he did on his last math test! It reminded her of her own brother – they were the same age, now that she thought about it.
“Alright, alright, no more distractions. Should I call him with this phone, though? That would technically be talking on the job, and it isn’t allowed if I’m not on break. However…” She thought, setting her personal phone down in exchange for the one on her desk.
“No one said I couldn’t use this phone to make an important personal call. Well, it’s probably still frowned upon, but I can at least cover for myself if I’m using this one. I’d be more suspicious with my cell.”
That little dilemma now resolved, Cassandra quickly scrolled through the contacts list on her cell phone, wrote down the number elsewhere, placing the device back into her bag. Occasionally, she would glance up to see if anyone noticed this blatant violation of the rules, but as she thought, everyone else was so engrossed that not a soul saw what she did. She made it known to herself that this would not be happening again, in any case. Things gotten away with once may not so easily be gotten away with twice. Looking to the phone number she previously copied, Cassandra picked up the phone on her desk, dialed the number, waiting anxiously as the phone rang. She thought Mokuba might not pick up after the first five or so rings, and beginning to fear for the worst, Cassandra prepared herself for the onslaught of thoughts that would come to mind when she finally hung up the phone. Was Kaiba dying? Dead? Would he be in a coma forever? Would he need life support until he finally gave out? What about his projects? What could possibly have happened to put him into that situation, and what’s going to happen to Mokuba? Who will take care of him? He’s just a little boy. He’s just –
               “Hello?”
Cassandra nearly shot out of her seat. In a fit of surprise she gasped, quickly placing her free hand atop her chest, forcing herself to be much quieter than her voice wanted her to be.
“Mokuba! I’m so glad to hear from you. I – I heard what happened. Sort of. All I know is that your brother is in the hospital. Are you okay? Are you with him? Is Roland with you?”
She didn’t mean to ask so much all at once, but her emotions were running on overload, worry being the chief among them. It took the boy a moment to process all of her questions, but eventually, he did answer.
“Yeah, I’m fine, and Roland’s outside my brother’s room. We’re actually at home now. I didn’t think Seto would want to be in a hospital…”
Mokuba seemed to trail off in a daze, as if tired from lack of sleep. He probably hadn’t slept all night, the poor boy.
“Oh, Mokuba,” Cassandra chided, “I’m glad you’re at home, but you sound so exhausted. I know it must have been hard for you to sleep. Can you do me a favor, though?”
From the other side she heard a distant yawn; Mokuba had pulled the phone away from himself in an attempt to hide the fact that he was tired.
“I’m okay. I see Seto stay up all the time, I’ll be alright. But I really don’t feel like… Doing anything…”
               …
“Oh, uh, a nurse is here to check up on Seto. I’m gonna – I’m gonna go.”
Before Cassandra was given the chance to respond, the boy hung up. That was not what she hoped the conversation would be. She figured Mokuba might be tired regardless of how much sleep he got, but “I see Seto stay up all the time” concerned her. “Staying up” generally meant being awake for ungodly amounts of time – pulling all-nighters. It also implied that he did it purposefully, rather than because he simply couldn’t. It became apparent to Cassandra that this might be Mokuba’s way of coping – acting like his big brother in his absence, trying to form some kind of control over the situation he was in. Or, worse yet, trying to be much too responsible for Seto at this age. No nine-year-old should have to experience their sibling going into a coma, much less try to assume the responsibility of caretaker. The thought was sweet, serving to solidify Mokuba’s innate kindness in Cassandra’s mind, but its implications were far more negative. She figured she’d call Roland in a few hours to see if she could pry any information from him, or possibly ask if there was anything she could do to help. The Kaibas could be a tight-knit little pair, only allowing help from one or two people at any given time, but the Kaiba responsible for this closed-off method no longer had a say in the situation, and if all went well, Roland might step in and give her reign.
Time had apparently passed much more quickly than Cassandra thought. She hadn’t paid a lick of attention to anything going on around herself during that call, and had only noticed a man standing in front of her after she set the phone down. Just as before, the sudden realization that a person was on the other side of her sent a sudden shock down her spine.
“Oh my – ! I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you standing there. Very,” She cleared her throat, if only to give herself a few extra milliseconds to think, “Very important call. Was there…”
She looked at the man’s face a little more closely, identifying him as the man she had laid her eyes upon in the conference room earlier.
She felt her gut sink. Her heart was beating louder than she could even think.
              “ … Something you needed?”
so yeah i hope u like :DDDDD

For the ask thing you reblogged, Kaiba or Mai!
I will do both because I cannot pick just one! Character(s): Seto Kaiba and Mai Kujaku First Impressions:Seto- “Oh! He’s really pretty…” Young me said as I looked away from the television, blushing bright red as Kaiba was actually my first anime/childhood crush and he made me spill my cereal that day because I gushed too hard. Such wild times. Mai- “Oh gosh she’s really pretty too! I like her hair its so curly and big!” Young me said as I pointed at her enthusiastically. Impressions Now: Seto- He may have problems that he needs to resolve and I sure hope they resolve but I still love him flaws and all. He has a special place in my heart and I want everyone to know that he is the reason I kept watching the show and his deck master is my favorite monster of all time. I owe my childhood to him. Thanks Kaiba. Mai- She deserved so much better than what the writers and show gave her. She is a woman who can kick ass and I love that about her. I wish she was in Dark Side Of Dimensions as a cameo of sorts but sadly she wasn’t there. Favorite Moment: Seto- There are a lot that I can list off but to save you from me droning on and on I will list just two: 1. This is from the Duelist of the Roses game but when Seto Rosenkruez gives the Rose Duelist the pendant/seal of the Yorkists as a parting gift is such a sentimental moment to me. I played the game as a child and I remember actually crying in front of my television because oh man did I enjoy that game so much. Rosenkruez is my favorite character from that game and I would die for him. (Also he states that if the Rose Duelist was ever in trouble, they could show that to the Seto in their era and Seto will help them out in any way he can because Rosenkruez is him from the past so imagine a younger version of you The Rose Duelist going up to Seto Kaiba in need of whatever and showing the pendant/seal. That’s what I always imagined as a kid and even today.)2. Seto during Season One as he is trying to rescue Mokuba from Pegasus and has that whole scene where he is talking to his self-programmed computer who has the voice and attitude of a hair salon stylist woman who just loves to talk gossip all day. Just him and that song ‘Now I’m Back’ playing is such a great moment because… Oh them… him and that computer AI? They’re friends. Mai-  Again I will list two because its only fair since I did it with Kaiba: 1. During Battle City where she was having her duel with Yami Marik literally scared me as a kid because oh man did she not deserve that trip to the shadow realm and to top it all off I remember I lost a friend around the time I saw that episode so it really hit me emotionally so thanks Season 2 and Yami Marik. 2. Season 4 came around and all the times she acted like a boss was always something great to see, she is the Dueling Queen of Duel Monsters within her Era after all. From her flipping her hair dramatically to her just riding on a motorcycle was just great. Ideas For A Story: Seto- I did state in a previous ask about a story idea I had for Anzu Mazaki but Seto does come into play with that idea.Mai- I do have an inside AU of mine which is an Idol AU. Mai in that Idol AU is the top designer to the costume/coord/clothing brand that Ryou Bakura and Marik use. She acts pretty much the same way as she does in canon but there are a few things I added into the fray for her: 1. She actually dropped out of High School due to receiving job offers to launch her brand she actually came up with and semi-launched within that time. She chose to quit her education and go forth with officially launching her brand and Ryou is the first to use her brand and then Marik came as the second one to use her brand. Mai will do anything to protect her brand and her users because she sacrificed so much to even start her brand. Do not dare use the fact that she sacrificed her education against her she will shatter because she wanted to graduate on stage and get her diploma so badly. 2. Mai is a world famous fashion designer who has had harsh criticism for her brand being too skimpy seeing as its a ‘sexy type’ brand and she is having high school boys adorn her clothing does not make it any better but if you dare talk shit to Mai then get ready to hear shit be thrown back by Jounouchi, Ryou, Marik, and Yugi. 3. Once Ryou and Marik graduate out of high school with their diploma’s, Mai actually does hire Marik as an apprentice for her brand. Unpopular Opinions: Seto-  I am going to be flat out honest but Seto graduated earlier than the rest of the cast. He did not bother to walk on stage, he just grabbed his diploma from Domino High and went back to work over at Kaiba Corporation as if nothing had happened but Isono did congratulate him on his ‘graduation’. You all have to pry that out of my dead cold hands.Mai-  Mai should have been with everyone else when Atem passed on into the afterlife. This was such a missed opportunity like come on guys. Favorite Relationships: Seto- 1. Azureshipping (Seto Kaiba and Anzu Mazaki) 2. Blueshipping (Seto Kaiba and Kisara) 3. Puppyshipping/Violetshipping (Seto Kaiba and Jounouchi Katsuya) 4. Rivalshipping (Seto Kaiba and Yugi Muto) 5. Trustshipping (Seto Kaiba and Ishizu Ishtar) Mai- 1. Polarshipping (Jounouchi Katsuya and Mai Kujaku) (Okay do not give me hate, they start dating when Jounouchi turns eighteen because yes I am aware that Mai is in her twenties and that Jounouchi is still in his teens so there you go.)2. Visionshipping (Mai Kujaku and Ishizu Ishtar) 3. Danceshipping (Mai Kujaku and Anzu Mazaki) Favorite Headcanons: Okay I am only doing one per character because this is getting long: Seto- Seto loves musicals and will do anything to see the ones that catch his attention. These are the following musicals that he does love with a burning passion: 1. Hamilton (Seto was there on opening night and sat front row and actually cried during such numbers like Burn, and Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story. Eliza is his favorite and you bet your ass he stood up to clap for the cast during their bows in which prompted everyone to stand up and do the same and he got to meet the cast backstage because he is freaking Seto Kaiba and he can do that. He got their autographs. If you wish for me to elaborate more on this please hit me up and I will do so.) 2. La La Land 3. Anastasia The Musical 4. Phantom Of The Opera 5. Spring Awakening Mai- After the dueling career, Mai becomes the a world famous fashion and makeup model. She actually is a huge social icon for women as she is not skinny and looks like the wind can just whisk her away. She looks like an average woman and that is something that many can look and see themselves as. Mai let the world know that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

the first linagram file is here! come on, open it, i'm sure there's nothing bad inside <3
???: So.. W-what exactly do I have to do?
Jackalope: Oh, it's easy. Just judge them, that's all.
Jackalope: You don't have to overthink it. Just follow your instincts-
Jackalope: Or, actually, you're allowed to overthink it. Just do whatever you want, but don't forget why you're here.
???: Uh.. When will I get to..
???: You know.. meet them?
Jackalope: Oh, you can see them on the cameras. Let's take a look.
Jackalope: They're still asleep, by the way.
Jackalope: So, the first prisoner.
Jackalope: Miyagawa Akio. 16 years old, a high school student. First year.
Jackalope: He's a genius when it comes to school, but when it comes to his appearance, there's nothing remarkable about it.
Jackalope: He acts all powerful and confident, but deep inside, he actually craves attention and compliments.
Jackalope: Prisoner 002, Hanasaki Aimi.
Jackalope: She's the same age as the first one.
Jackalope: A really cute one, isn't she?
Jackalope: She seems to be very polite.
Jackalope: But still, don't forget that she's a murderer.
???: They're.. only two years older than me..
Jackalope: Shocking, right? Kids these days..
Jackalope: Prisoner 003, Ishizu Shun.
Jackalope: This one.. Haha, you'll have to see for yourself.
Jackalope: His memory is terrible. Is it the mental illness or is it something more physical? No idea.
Jackalope: But he still fully believes he was in the right for committing his crime.
Jackalope: Prisoner 004, Chiba Naomi.
Jackalope: An elementary school teacher ended up in prison. A terrifying concept, isn't it?
Jackalope: How could they let someone like her not only spend time with kids, but even teach them?
Jackalope: It's almost like people felt.. sorry for her.
Jackalope: Almost like they never saw her as an adult.
???: These two scare me, to be honest..
Jackalope: Understandable. They're much older than you and have committed horrible, absolutely horrible crimes.
Jackalope: But the fifth and sixth prisoners are even worse than these two.
Jackalope: Prisoner 005, Sanada Kei.
Jackalope: A charming young man who is always in the center of attention and has everyone's eyes on him. Popular with both men and women.
Jackalope: He doesn't feel that connected to anyone though.
Jackalope: Be careful around him.
Jackalope: And now-
???: ...
???: .. W-why-
Jackalope: What's wrong-
Jackalope: Ohh, this one.
Jackalope: That's the sixth prisoner. One of the prettiest ones here.
Jackalope: But again, still a murderer.
Jackalope: And her name is Yoshioka Ei-
???: !
???: N-no-
???: N-no, i-it can't be her!
Jackalope: What? Are you surprised to see someone like her here?
Jackalope: Oh, you haven't seen the other prisoners yet-
???: WHAT IS SHE DOING HERE?!
Jackalope: Well, she committed-
???: SHE'S NOT A MURDERER! SHE CAN'T BE!
???: ONEE-SAN WOULD NEVER MURDER SOMEONE!
???: SHE'S TOO KIND FOR THAT!
???: AND EVEN IF SHE DID MURDER SOMEONE.. THAT MEANS THEY DESERVED IT!
Jackalope: So forgive her then.
???: What?..
Jackalope: If you think she's innocent, forgive her. I'm not stopping you.
???: .. N-no..
???: .. This is insane. This is madness.
???: You're making me judge my own sister!
???: And she'll have to go through not one, but three trials!
???: Why.. Why would you do this?
Jackalope: So you don't want to accept that your sister could have murdered somebody?
???: HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT THAT?!
???: She.. She doesn't deserve to be here! Let her go!
Jackalope: Can't do that. Forgive her first.
???: I FORGIVE HER! I FORGIVE HER, I FORGIVE HER, I FORGIVE HER!
???: She doesn't have to go through those three trials, please, just let her go!
Jackalope: Again, I can't do that.
???: WHY?! WHY CAN'T YOU-
Jackalope: Because your whole family is here.
Jackalope: It would be rude to just let her go without even letting her join the family reunion, no?
???: ...
???: .. My..
???: ...
???: .. Is this what you used to make me fall asleep?
Jackalope: Right. Don't drink too much-
Jackalope: Oh.
(sound of someone falling on the floor and glass breaking)
Jackalope: .. Oh well. We have three more anyway.
Jackalope: Maybe 14 year olds don't really make good guards.
Jackalope: .. What about 15 year olds though?
***
???: ...
Eiko: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!
(sound of Eiko dropping something)
Eiko: What.. Why..
(sounds of someone's footsteps)
Shun: Eiko-san..
Shun: Are you okay?
Eiko: ...
Eiko: .. What was this supposed to mean..
Eiko: I found this tape in my cell this morning and there was a note saying where I can watch it and..
Eiko: Why would they-
Eiko: .. This wasn't done by Eiji-kun, was it?
Eiko: .. No. No, he would've never done something like this.
Shun: W-why are you so sure?
Eiko: Because even though he believes that everyone here deserves to be punished, he would've never done something like this out of malice.
Eiko: This video feels like it was recorded to.. laugh at me in the future.
Eiko: Eiji-kun would never do something like this. He only punishes people for the sake of justice. For the sake of making this world perfect.
Shun: Didn't he make Yurika-san everyone's maid even though she clearly hated her job?
Eiko: Well, a fitting punishment for someone like her.
Eiko: And also..
Eiko: My whole family..
Eiko: .. Ahaha..
Eiko: I knew they were criminals, but I didn't know they were this bad.
Shun: Um.. Is there anything I can do for you?
Shun: Just tell me. I won't forget it, I promise-
Shun: W-what are you-
Eiko: For now, can you just hold me like this?
Eiko: I'll come up with a plan later.
Shun: .. S-sure..
Shun: Ehehe..

Episode 94, part 2: everyone’s favourite angry teenage CEO has a hallucinatory disassociative episode during a card game! (part 1 is here) (there will be a part 3, these dorks are pretty fucking chatty)
SETO SUMMONS GOD TO THE FIELD IN A BLAZE OF GLORY
Tumblr media
HE IS UNSTOPPABLE THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER
UNLEss
Tumblr media
Ishizu has foretold his doom and accurately predicted every twist and turn of this duel so far, even correctly calling cards before Seto had even drawn them... she knows the future and she knows he’s going to lose, there’s nothing he can do... this is the worst day ever
unleSS
Tumblr media
I WILL CRUSH YOUR ENTIRE FUTURE WITH THE LITERAL MANIFESTATION OF A GOD WHO DOES MY BIDDING / WITH THIS TRADING CARD YOU GAVE ME
so yeah, Kaiba’s a bit of a rollercoaster rn
Yami is working some intense camera angles, the cinematography choices are bold this episode but I think they would have been better using that effort on keeping everyone’s eyes consistent sizes and shapes just saying
Tumblr media
Yami’s dubious because Isis has really held her own during this duel and seems very confident
Tumblr media
he’s also ADORABLE and WORRIED FOR HIS (boy)FRIEND how cute is that
in fact, Isis is a lot more cool and calm than Kaiba is and I think Yami’s able to tell: Kaiba’s talking big talk (as per fuckin usual) but he’s STALLING
Tumblr media
like this isn’t like him; no dramatic pronouncement, no outrageous gestures, he doodles around asking if she’s ready and shit, and he’s sweating
Isis is ready, she’s seen this before and she remembers it for our benefit now:
Tumblr media
I don’t know if this is in slightly fuzzy slightly sepia because that’s how she sees the visions or because that’s what her memory is like (if it’s her memory, her memory is quite like Yami’s but she remembers in “video” not “images”)
either way, it doesn’t end well for Seto
Tumblr media
Seto Kaiba blasting off againnnnnn
Kaiba goes to call his attack and Yami Malik just fuckin heads off, so confident in Isis’s plan that he doesn’t even bother to stay to watch Seto lose (maybe he doesn’t know about the painful-looking explosion, it seems like that would be right up his twisted, sketchy-looking, don’t-go-this-way-after-dark alley)
Tumblr media
Y’know, I’ll say it again: Yami Malik in the Japanese is weirdly complimentary. Like okay, “fearsome” is not always a word you expect people to take as a compliment but he definitely means it as one, and he’s very upfront about acknowledging both Isis’s and Mai’s dueling ability and strength. So way to go on being less sexist than a portion of the fandom, Mr Murderous Maniac.
In any case, he doesn’t get far...
Tumblr media
Yami’s attention is attracted by the lightshow but almost immediately returns to Seto, who abruptly stopped talking halfway through the word “attack!” and is now staring into space and TRIPPING MERRILY THRU A 90s MUSIC VIDEO EFFECT
Tumblr media
You can almost see the wheel spinning in his head: someone drugged me, the holograms are malfunctioning don’t be ridiculous KaibaCorp tech doesn’t malfunction, I’m experiencing the sudden onset of a high fever, someone’s hacked into the holograms, somehow this is being caused by Mutou lying about friendship--
But he’s confronted with a vision of the stone tablet of “definitely not me” and “definitely not that shortass Mutou” that Isis showed him in the museum, and I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP, HIS VISION LINGERS ON:
Tumblr media
the images from the tablet flash across his eyes but he starts and ends on the image of Atem!
And then he sees a vision of something he hasn’t seen before:
Tumblr media
I don’t believe he recognises “himself” in the young man, he focuses on the tablet, on his dragon, but he is briefly connected to his past self’s feelings
Tumblr media
“WHAT IS EMOTION I HATE THIS”
Although surprisingly, when he snaps out of it, he doesn’t start denying it or questioning how, he questions why
Tumblr media
Somehow, he trusts his loyal dragon and decides the vision came from his most important card(s)
Tumblr media
Which is why we ended up with a man standing on a blimp yelling “What the hell do you want?!” at his own hand of trading cards #justYGOthings

Some Things I Ship - Yu-Gi-Oh!
Just gonna list some things I ship for some more obscure fandoms that no one who follows me cares at all for but if you look at some of these in the tags, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. I promise you that.
So here are some things I ship in Yu-Gi-Oh! because it was and still is I think, my favourite card game and certainly one of my favourite anime. I even have a monumental fic for one of these ships on my AO3 profile.
Anzu Mazaki and Black Magician Girl (otherwise known as Stageshipping)
Anzu Mazaki and Mai Kujaku (otherwise known as Danceshipping)
Mai Kujaku and Ishizu Ishtar (otherwise known as Visionshipping)
Yami Yugi (Pharoah Atem) and Mai Kujaku (I do not yet know the name for this ship. I don’t ship lil Yugi Motou with Mai, just Yami Yugi/Atem)
Yugi Motou and Seto Kaiba (Again I do not know the ship name, although I simultaneously ship both Yugi and Atem with Kaiba. DSoD kinds cemented Seto’s desire for Atem in my mind)
Mai Kujaku and Katsuya Jonouchi (I think this is called Pollarshipping? I’ve kinda always liked this since the show since it’s one of the few hetero romance sub plots that remains sub plot and never even becomes canon. That’s how well this actually was executed in a card game anime. I ship this thing. It’s actually real)
Mai Kujaku and Harpie Lady (I don’t even think this is a thing if it is please tell me the name, I love it. If in my mind, Anzu can get with BMG in any number of AUs, Mai can have her Harpie [Sisters])
Shizuka Kawai and Mai Kujaku (I ship a lot of people with Mai okay? I like Mai, she’s easy to ship for me because she’s really attractive, really damn strong and attracts a lot of attention from everyone in the show, especially during Battle City. Atem has the hots for her, so does Anzu, and Jonouchi and Shizuka. Ishizu and Mai are kinda real OTP though.)
Yami Bakura and Marik Ishtar (No idea for the name, I just thought that Bakura’s Dark Side really wanted to do a *lot* to Marik before he went nuts. *shrugs*)
So there’s a list of my small and big ships in Yu-Gi-Oh! I’m not gonna rank them, I’m not gonna say which I ship with all my heart (*cough* It’s Stageshipping) and which ones I don’t really care for. I love this anime, I love rewatching it all the time. And I really want to write a lot more for it. So hopefully I will soon! I need some Visionshipping and Danceshipping in me.
If anyone has names for those I don’t know, please tell me their names!

Ryou has always been intrigued by Marik and wouldn't mind getting lost in his eyes. But something about them was…off. As though the life were missing from them.
Here it is, folks! The one I was talking about earlier. It was actually a rewrite of an earlier drabble and I don’t know, I guess I just don’t want to do my paper. Anyways, enjoy!
Ryou has always been intrigued by Marik.
Ever since he first set foot on Domino, Marik Ishtar had stuck out like a sore thumb. After all, in a sea of monotonous black and white, Marik’s fair locks and tanned skin will truly draw ones eye. Considered an exotic sight in good, old Domino, he was treated as a shining beacon of excitement in the citizens’ mind-numbing routines. Fortunately for them, Marik rarely disappoints. Always causing a racket wherever he goes, Marik can be called the poster child of everything Ryou was raised against. Sleeping in class, loitering during periods, sassing the teachers- everything you can imagine a student may pull off after being branded a delinquent, Marik has probably done them all. Add this to his aforementioned good looks; the people of Domino are all crazy over him. The girls constantly vying for his attention, the boys regularly asking for his help, and the adults perpetually trying to mend his ways.
However, that’s not why Ryou found herself invested in this specific transfer student.
His eyes were the shade of the sky, the most brilliant blue. The sort of blue that you want to wake up to, to open your eyes and see them staring at you. The kind that can soothe your soul no matter how shattered and tormented it is. The type that can make you forget all your sorrows and promise you a better tomorrow. That’s what his eyes are like. Calm like the sleeping ocean and serene like the endless sky.
But something about them was… off.
In order to satiate her curiosity about these foreigners, Ryou began to watch them closely. She took note of their routines, of what they like, and of what they hate. She discovered where they live along with the fact that Ishizu likes to tend to their garden around three in the afternoon. She also found out that Marik actually owns his own vehicle, a flaming red motorcycle that he lovingly branded Lady Death. But most of all, she finally learns just what is it about Marik’s eyes that unnerves her. Unlike his sister, Ishizu, whose eyes shone with a certain calculating glint whenever a graceful smile lights up her usual stoic face, Marik’s eyes are as deep as the voids.
As though life itself was sucked out of them.
Ryou figured that it may be because he was just feeling miserable due to being forced to come here. She found out about this during one of her walks, where she witnessed the two Ishtars discussing the whys of their sudden relocation to Domino; however, Ryou still clings to a dim hope that Marik will soon grow to like Domino as much as he likes his old hometown. And maybe, just maybe, he can find it in himself to like someone from here too. Of course she means herself but--- Ryou will eternally deny such accusation. Nevertheless, as the seasons changed and the flowers she has planted that day she first laid her eyes on Marik had bloomed and wilted, Ryou noticed that no matter what happens,
Marik’s eyes remain as dead as ever.
No matter the occasion, be it a feast in his honor or a time of mourning for the entire city, Marik’s blue eyes can’t seem to let go of its perpetually vacant gaze. For days Ryou tried so hard to see even just a glimpse of the sentiments hidden within the dark void of Marik’s stare but no matter how hard she tried, they just can’t seem to feel anything. At first, worry filled her very being. What could have possibly happened to him to cause this? Figuring that no matter how much she paced her apartment’s already worn carpet, nothing can be done about it- or at least nothing she can do. But Ryou is a stubborn girl who always perseveres to help her friends. And thus, when a sudden stroke of genius overcame her, she immediately placed her plan into action.
Domino, despite being called a city by its residents, can be best likened to a sleepy rural town. The only redeeming feature of the city is the enormous Kaiba Tower located at its very heart and the park that is a ways away from the city proper. The park is located on top of Domino Hill where one can enjoy the panoramic view of the city. Unfortunately, most locals tend to shy away from the place due to the various rumors that surrounds it. Thus, the maintenance of the park was kept into a bare minimum; just enough to keep the place clean for its occasional visitors.
 ‘Right on time.’
There among the foliage comes out the elusive Marik Ishtar. One would have thought that with all the attention he gets from the locals, he would be milking it for all its worth. But, as Ryou grew to find out, Marik prefers to be alone and enjoy the world in all his solitude. It was pure luck that she managed to find out about Marik’s secret strolls here. It happened one autumn afternoon where the weather was just right for a walk. Instead of walking by her usual route, Ryou felt like getting lost for a while and followed the downtrodden road leading to the forgotten park.
That’s when she first saw him.
Marik Ishtar: the boy that everyone keeps on talking about. When she first heard the rumors, she envisioned him to be somewhat of a gangster. Someone who wears huge amount of leather and keeps their hair spiked up to the heavens while wearing thick lines of eyeliner. That’s why when she was him, she has to take a moment to do a double take and convince herself that it is the enigmatic transfer student of class 2 – C.
Clad in a simple mauve hoodie and faded black pants, Marik looks more like a model.
If anything, he looked like a simple teenager just like her. Only prettier. Even with his jewelry that shines when the sun’s fading rays hits them just right, Ryou still thinks that Marik isn’t so different from herself. Both considered outcasts by the people of Domino- Ryou’s heart leaped for the boy. Ever since that fated day, Ryou never missed a chance to walk a little farther from her house if it means getting a glimpse of him in the park. It was always on the same time; always 10 minutes before the sunset. It’s a constant that gives Ryou something to look forward to each day. A secret moment just for the two of them.
‘Hello, Marik…’
He sent her a quizzical look before frowning. Perhaps wondering where the pale girl came from all of the sudden. Regardless, he simply inclined his head a little before going back to staring at the horizon, desperately trying to shake off the awkward feeling he got the moment he noticed the girl. Unbeknownst to him, this made her smile a little and inched just a little closer and closer and closer until there’s barely any space between them. Whether he minded the sudden intrusion to his private space or not, Ryou wouldn’t know; she was too busy taking care of the boy’s unconscious body.
Ryou has always been fascinated by Marik.
Ever since he first set foot on Domino, Marik Ishtar had stuck out like a sore thumb. With his blond hair, tanned skin, and blue eyes, only a blind person can deny the boy’s allure. Add that to his natural charisma and you practically have a god in your hands. Surprisingly, or maybe not if you already know her, that is not what lured Ryou Bakura in into the enigma that is Marik Ishtar.
It was his eyes.
His eyes that were the color of the bottomless sea and the endless sky. His eyes that contain all the secrets the universe has to offer. His eyes that remains eternally dead to the world. It was because of them. They are what pulled her in. The reason she can never escape Marik’s gaze. It is the reason why she is losing sleep every single night, unable to think of anything else, and most all, driving herself mad. The moment she saw them she vowed that she’ll help him; that no matter what happens, they’ll get his emotions back his eyes. All so that he no longer has to stare vacantly into people and wonder just what it’s like to be them- to be human.
But sometimes, things have to be done a certain way to accomplish them.
Ryou didn’t mean to. Not really, no. She’s been brought up by her parents to be a law-abiding citizen who fears god. A person who can be considered a role model for all that is pure and holy. Of course, Ryou wouldn’t go as far as calling herself a saint, per se. No, she just wants to point out that she’s a good person. And really, she is. She’s doing all of this to help her--- friend. Sure, Marik may be trying to stop her now but he’ll see soon enough. People are like that anyway; they always want to get things their own way. They hate letting other people help them because it hurts their pride. But it’s alright, as soon as they’re done, Marik will see that she’s right all along and he’ll be thanking her for being such a great friend. Because that’s what they are,
‘Friends…’
And now with a new found passion, she twists the knife into his eye and gleefully remarks to her struggling captive as an emotion finally seeps in. Who would have thought that a little bit of blood can cause such distress to a beautiful human being? A laugh bubbles up her throat as a strange euphoria fills Ryou while she straddles the thrashing Marik underneath her and sinks her knife deeper into his eyes, disregarding his muffled screams and oh so delicious cries and focusing more on receiving as much emotion from his eyes as possible.
‘It’s alright though, this is all worth it,’ she thought as she twists the knife even more so, causing blood to freely run down on his gorgeous face once more, all the while ignoring his hysterical screams. She’s always been fascinated by the occult anyway. ‘And besides,’ she continued with a dreamy sigh as she stared lovingly at his now abused eye.
Purple has always been his color.

I Failed To Protect You - [my fic in ff.net]
Sometimes it hurt and he can ignore it. But other times it hurt too much and it became harder to ignore it—but he had to, because there were more important things. Things that could end with permanent consequences if he didn't give it his all. Death-T, Duelist Kingdom, Dark Bakura, Marik's Ghouls, and now Dartz and the Orichalcos. He had to shove them away, he had to hide it—bury it deep within him. Cover his pain with walls as hard and cold like the labyrinth in the Puzzle.
He had no time for distractions.
But he knew he couldn't keep it in forever, he knew it would come back to haunt him. Burying something so deep for so long tended to end badly, to bite him back in the ass. He had witnessed it firsthand with Kaiba, a boy who had buried all his pain and insecurities to be strong for his brother—and later buried everything else to survive the upbringing he had with his foster father. It was like a seed, bury it and let it germinate. Let it grow, mature, and mutate into something he couldn't control himself. Into an obsession he realized too late. For Kaiba, it was his obsession to be the strongest in Duel Monsters—a childhood dream that became corrupt. He lost his true cause for being strong, and ended up hurting the very reason he wanted to be strong for in the first place.
For him, it was his obsession to always win. No matter the cost, no matter the consequences. He should have seen it before, he had done it once in Duelist Kingdom. When Kaiba had threatened to kill himself if he won (and he would have won the duel if it weren't for Yuugi, he would have killed Kaiba if it weren't for Yuugi).Winning games was… winning duels was… winning was the only use he had.
He had used his powers and it only led to pain and fear. It had led to Death-T, for Kaiba wanted revenge after he had humiliated him in a shadow game. It led to Yuugi being absolutely terrified of him, a spirit who possessed his body without his knowledge and hurt people (he had burned one man alive and made Kaiba experience death, for gods' sakes). It had led to Yuugi's grandfather being taken, for Pegasus had discovered the Puzzle because of Death-T. His powers were useless, they didn't help anybody, so he stopped using them.
All that was left then, was his skill in games.
And it stopped being useful when Yuugi was forcibly ripped from him. He closed his eyes at the memory, hands pushing him out of the way and the sinking feeling in his gut (and denial) as he saw his partner in the seal. It should have been him, it should have been him, it should have been him.
He let out a shaky breath. Sometimes it hurt and he could deal with it—but most of the time he was on the verge of breaking. He looked down at the endless black void in front of him. Once upon a time, he had taunted another Item wielder about the horrors of his labyrinth. He had stood before Shadi's fingers, looking down at him as he dangled at the broken edge of the floor. He had smirked and mocked him, telling him if he fell then his soul would be doomed to be lost in the dark abyss.
He had laughed at Shadi's fear (and it was no wonder Yuugi had feared him), wondered out loud if he should leave him to fall and rot.
(Gods, he was just like the spirit of the Ring)
If he didn't exist, maybe life for everyone would be better. If it weren't for him, his partner would still be here. Dartz wanted him, and was willing to hurt Yuugi's friends, who were only high school students, to reach him. If it weren't for his stupidity, his bull-headedness, his gods-be-damned fickle pride—then Yuugi Mutou would still be here in his rightful body. But he wasn't.
Instead it was an ancient dead spirit with no memories, who was only useful in games and torture (and he was good at it, he remembered the time that he reveled in the screams of Ushio, Sozoji, and countless others before he found some semblance of sanity).
He tilted his head and leaned forward, teetering a little more towards the void. He marveled at the endless black, light seemingly stopping in the void. He remembered the cruel words he told Shadi and wondered.
If he fell… would he disappear?
This was his soul room, and the void was still part of his soul (and what did that say about him, to have a vast dark hole in a mental representation of his very essence?). At best, he would continuously fall until some external force stopped him. At worst, he would forever be lost within his own mind. A soulless soul, if that was possible. He would disappear into nothingness, fade away, and never be a bother to anyone else anymore.
That seemed nice.
Who would miss him? The people who truly knew him were (mostly) long dead, buried under the sand for thousands of years. He wouldn't be surprised if some of them were displayed in a museum somewhere. Jounouchi? He would move on. Anzu? She would get over him, always her love for Yuugi would be stronger than the whatever-it-was she had for him (it was something he admired from her, because she truly loved Yuugi as a friend, sister, and—given time—something more). Honda? They weren't that close, he wasn't close with any of Yuugi's friends. Not really. Ryou? He suspected that the white haired boy was a bit wary around him, perhaps reminding him of another ancient Egyptian spirit.
Yuugi? Yes, he would probably miss him. But he had friends, he had his family, and he had always been the stronger between them. He had lived most of his life without him, and he could do it again—especially now that he had more people who would care for him. What would he need from someone who was still insane? Who still felt a little pleasure in seeing the pain of duelists as they were defeated, who still felt tempted to call his power and bring forth terrifying illusions as retribution?
Who used that gods' forsaken card despite knowing what it could do, what would Yuugi need from someone like that?
Yuugi was strong and he was weak. He couldn't concentrate without the comforting presence of Yuugi's soul, couldn't summon up the will to fight without his words of encouragement.
It would be so easy to jump, or even just lean forward a bit more. Nobody needed him, nobody should want him, who would miss him?
"I would, my prince."
He jerked at the voice and turned. Behind him was a tall man, garbed in dark violet robes and armor, and looking at him with sad blue eyes. He looked away.
"You shouldn't, I treated you horribly," he said, feeling bile in his throat as he remembered the callous way he treated all his monsters. Hadn't he once told Pandora that he should treat his cards with respect and dignity? That they were more than just tools? What a self-righteous hypocrite he was. "I hurt you."
"I will heal."
"I hurt her," he emphasized, remembering the betrayed look the man's beloved student gave him as he forced her to sacrifice herself. "I promised—I goddamn promised her, and yet I-"
He deserved to lose… he did.
But Yuugi didn't deserve to take that penalty, it should have been him.
"She will heal."
"She shouldn't have to!" he snarled, looking back at Dark Magician—his most loyal Duel Monster (and whywhywhy did he deserve such loyalty from a powerful and dignified being like him?). He remembered the pure hurt shining in those green eyes, glistening with tears threatening to pour out. And if he had been less prideful, less blind, then he would have listened to the tugs pulling in his heart. Because Dark Magician Girl was far more suited for happiness, not crying, and he should have made sure that—
("Hey now, don't cry," he soothes the sobbing girl. "I sucked out all the poison, the snake won't bother him. No more tears, okay?")
"You shouldn't have to either! What kind of… what kind of—I don't know what I am to you!" he cried. "I don't know what I was to you, but I sure as hell know I shouldn't be hurting you!"
Shouldn't make one of them cry (I'm so sorry).
He wasn't clueless, he wasn't stupid, he wouldn't be half as good in games if he didn't have the ability to connect the dots. Ishizu had shown them the tablet, and it had the Dark Magician carved on it. That spoke volumes in itself. He knew the spellcaster was connected to his forgotten past, and he suspected that they had been something. Friends perhaps (dare he hope, after what he did?). Dark Magician had always been far more alive in duels than what seemed expected from the holographic technology, even before Kaiba's advanced duel disks. Smiling, wagging his finger, doing twirls with his staff before he attacked, and sometimes looking back at him worriedly when he thought he wasn't paying attention.
And the duel with Pandora, that time where he activated an effect all on his own, standing in front of him so his life points wouldn't go to zero. Monsters shouldn't be able to do that, not without any indication from their duelists or the duel disks. Dark Magician was self-aware enough to act on his own volition.
He had appointed himself guardian of his soul room (and how did Duel Monsters get into his soul so easily?), often nudging Yuugi away from tablets and rooms when the teen felt like exploring. The one time Shadi tried to venture the labyrinth again in Duelist Kingdom, the Egyptian man nearly got disintegrated on the spot by an irate magician when he tried to touch the tablets. If it weren't for Yuugi intervening, Shadi would have been a smear on the floor.
He knew him, he cared about him.
And look what he does to that person, he treated him as a mere tool.
Another person he hurt because of his pride, one who stood by him longer than anybody he knew. Despite that, despite committing the most damnable failure he'd ever committed, the man was still determined to protect him, even from himself.
"Why? Why do you go through such lengths to protect me?" he asked, wringing his hands. It baffled him. He was a powerful spirit, he could defend himself. He was dead and couldn't remember his own name, there wasn't much left to protect—body and mind. And if he thought about it, he only used Dark Magician as a soldier in battle. Even before the tribute summon rule in dueling, the spellcaster has gone through so many deaths it was a wonder he still had the energy to go through his typical sass. Why would he put up with that? "I don't remember you, I don't know you."
He saw the quick flash of pain in the blue eyes, the raw hurt at that admission. So he had been right then, he and Dark Magician (and most likely Dark Magician Girl) knew each other, once upon a time. It must hurt, to see a loved one (maybe?) completely forget about you, to see them look at you with no recognition. He turned away, he had already been hurting Dark Magician without trying. By looking at him, not remembering him.
"Gods, I don't deserve it, I don't deserve you," he said bitterly, laughing at himself. "I'm nothing, the only worth I seem to have is that I was pharaoh, and what good is that?"
Dark Magician flinched, as if physically struck by his words, but he plowed on regardless. Too engrossed at his thoughts to care, these feelings had been festering for a while now, and they were itching to burst.
"What good is a pharaoh who can't even remember his own name? What good is a pharaoh who's dead, whose body is a shriveled up corpse somewhere?" he laughed, shaking his head. "Hell, what good is a pharaoh in this day and age?"
He laughed again, like he had found a funny joke—and really, he did: it was called his life. He was an ancient spirit with amnesia, who possessed a Japanese teenage boy via a golden puzzle and was apparently Egyptian once upon a time. His talents were winning games, recently card games, and his skills consist of making people crazy. His life was a joke, his death was a joke.
"Your worth isn't because of your title."
"Oh? And what is it then?"
"It's because you are you," Dark Magician replied softly, walking closer to him and placing his (warm warm warm) hands on his shoulders. The spellcaster gently pulled him away from the edge. He didn't fight back, didn't shrug off the hands. It wasn't the first time he thought about ending his un-life (un-death?) and looking at the dark void contemplatively, just the first time he had finally voiced his thoughts out loud. Always, Dark Magician was there to pull him away. "Do you think I would stay for thousands of years just because you were king?"
From the Egyptian people he had met before, it was obvious that they weren't the sanest or most logical bunch. But he restrained himself from saying that. "Whoever I was before, I'm certainly not him now."
Memories were the basis of personality after all, and he barely had any.
"You'd be surprised with how little you've changed," the man refuted, wrapping his arms around his waist and dragging him down the floor. He flailed, surprised at the change of position. He was seated between the spellcaster's legs, who placed himself in a cross-legged sit, not letting go of him. "You are still the intelligent and kind man I knew, one who always protects his friends."
"I'm doing a horrible job at it," he muttered, feeling awkward at being hugged. Nobody had ever given him soft and affectionate touches like this. He knew he was viewed as someone intimidating, untouchable and powerful. The closest he experienced was Jounouchi's hug tackles and noogies. Most would give him a pat on the shoulder.
"You are doing the best you can with the limited resources you have," Dark Magician corrected, removing his arms from the small spirit to take off his armor. First the pauldrons, then his helmet. He blinked, staring at the long violet hair that fell over the man's shoulders. His hands twitched, wanting to comb through the locks and see if it was as silky as it looked.
Without the armor, Dark Magician looked less threatening. Softer, gentler.
Familiar.
(White robes, tan skin, long brown hair, and gray eyes shining with amusement)
He was pulled out of his musings when Dark Magician hugged him again, this time a little closer. With the armor out of the way, he could feel the man's steady heartbeat. Could smell his comforting scent; lavender, incense, and other spices. He fidgeted, unsure on what to do in this (surprisingly comfortable) position.
"I forget that you are so human," Dark Magician murmured, combing through his spikes. "That you are confused and unsure of yourself, that you hurt near constantly, that you need companionship as much as you need protection. I thought I have gone past that, seeing you as something infallible and god-like."
"I'm not god-anything," he protested. God forsaken, perhaps. But god-like? That was ridiculous, there was nothing godly about him.
"Once upon a time, I thought you were," Dark Magician sighed, still stroking his hair. It was so calming, he cuddled a bit closer. Eyes drooping as he listened. "The person I was in the past would have been horrified with my actions now, would think it beneath his status, to be so casual with the king."
"Statuses are stupid," he mumbled, remembering the arrogant people he had encountered when he was freed. It was always status of something for them—wealth, beauty, popularity, and other silly things. "We both have the same color of blood, don't we? Neither of us should be beneath or above each other."
He felt rumbling from the other's chest, and the arms around him tightened. "You truly haven't changed—matured and grown perhaps, but what made you remarkable to me is still there."
"There's nothing remarkable with treating you horribly."
"Your opponent manipulated you, used your self-doubt against you," Dark Magician said. "Dartz has ten thousand years' worth of experience to know what could break you, I'm sure he told his follower how."
"But-"
"I should have intervened, said something—the rules of the game never held strongly to me," he continued. "I should have reassured you, instead of watching you doubt yourself more and more—what kind of friend am I? To do nothing while you were hurting?"
Friend, he called him a friend.
He sobbed brokenly, because he had met a lot of things related to his unknown past. Enemies like Dark Bakura and Pegasus, unfortunate slaves like the Ishtars, and tentative allies like Shadi. But never a friend, never any indication that he had bonds with anyone. Yes, the tablet was a symbol of friendship created by one of his high priests, but this was also the same person who had created the clan of grave keepers doomed to never see sunlight. He had a friend, a person he cared about and cared for him as well. He had a friend, and surely that meant he wasn't that horrible of a person before, right?
"Oh, my prince, you were never horrible," Dark Magician replied sadly. Had he said that out loud? "Forceful and prideful, but never cruel and cold-hearted. You shouldn't believe the words of Raphael."
"S'hard," he sniffled, trying in vain to stop the tears. It was hard to ignore the duelist's words when it was true. How could he be sure that he was a good person before? He had been cruel and cold-hearted the first months of being released, he had been horrible and terrifying. And when he thought he was getting better, becoming good, he reverted back to being a cruel spirit who loved seeing people lose. Just for the sake of winning a stupid card game. He had broken a promise, he had ignored Yuugi, he had treated all of his cards like crap. He had treated his friend like crap. "M'sorry, 'm so sorry."
"I know."
He wished he wasn't hugged like this, he wished he was punched like how Jounouchi reacted. He wished there was disappointment and grief in those blue eyes, like in Anzu's when she discovered the news. He wished the man would scream at him, like Rebecca had. He wished all of this was just one big nightmare and Yuugi was there, smiling at him and asking him to look at their deck again.
"M'so tired, Dark Magician," he mumbled. "I wan' t'sleep for a long time."
And never wake up, was the unsaid thought.
He sighed as he felt fingers combing his hair again, he let his eyes slid close and his body relax into a boneless heap. Surrendering himself to the feeling of safety and comfort from the man (no matter how undeserving he was of having it).
"Then sleep," Dark Magician said softly. "I will wake you up when it's needed."
He was so tired.
"… 'Kay," he breathed. "G'night, Mahad."
A twitch, the arms around him held him tight.
"Pleasant dreams, my prince."
Sleep was nice.

Are you a fan of hate-ships?
I am indeed!
Like there’s tropes I am weak to and if I see them anywhere its almost immediate that I’m into them and its pretty much every time
Hate ships are not one of those things, so I’m not gonna like every single one that I see
They have to be done in ways that appeal to ME personally
Like my OTP of all OTP’s is Kaiba/Joey, which is considered a hate ship
The thing about my hate ships is that I always believe they don’t actually hate each other, cause that is a pretty strong word and I can’t fathom the thought of two characters (written in a specific way) hating each other for no reason, there’d have to be a STRONG basis behind it. So dislike is a better term meaning there’s a chance things can change if they work at it. My interest in hate ships mainly comes from me wanting them to NOT hate/dislike each other anymore
Let’s take two of them - Kaiba/Joey and Shizuo/Izaya
Kaiba/Joey first. It’s clear that when somebody unimportant is in Kaiba’s face/way/presence, he mainly just ignores them. He’ll forget their face in minutes, not worth his time
Let’s look at the people he MAINLY takes time out of his day to interact with. Yami/Yugi - the rival. Marik - God card. Ishizu - cause he had to duel her. Pegasus - kidnapped his brother. Mokuba - brother. People who work for him.
If there’s no reason for HIM to interact with them, he’ll just ignore. If they have a reason for wanting to interact with HIM, he’ll try to get away from them asap. Bad example since its season 4 and I don’t consider it canon but - Alister for example. Kaiba was mainly like, “I really don’t care about this. This interaction has no benefit to me. Go away.”
Heck, even Noah he never cared to interact with until Mokuba was kidnapped. That’s really the only time a “nobody” to Kaiba would get Kaiba’s attention.
Then what’s Joey to him?
An average dude, best friends to his rival.
And its like he almost goes out of his way to tease him.
Tease, annoy, piss off.
Why would Kaiba have any proper reason to hate Joey.
Joey just… annoys him. But he starts half the shit between them anyway. And Joey brings out a specific side to Kaiba that nobody else does.
It may have just been a dream, but let’s face it, that scene on the blimp in DSOD between them would have actually happened, and would have been the ONLY time in the movie that Kaiba smirked/grinned.
Joey’s reactions are too good for Kaiba to put him on the “ignore” list.
And they do acknowledge good things in each other.
Moving onto Shizuo/Izaya, its a little similar.
These two keep tryna kill each other. But its like, they enjoy the thrill of it.
Both busy guys yet almost go out of their way to chase/fight. Like that time Izaya was gonna leave town but decided to mess with Shizuo before he went despite the fact that he’s mostly thinking to himself, “Why does he keep getting in my way?” and Shizuo is mostly thinking, “Why is this bastard behind everything bad that happens?”
Unlike KaiJou tho, this is definitely a hate ship. But because they constantly have to remind everyone that they hate each other, its like “ya’ll are so damn intent on proving you hate each other, there’s probs something else going on here” lol
It’s like “passionate hate”. Constantly have to say you hate them over and over. It’s like, someone would say to EITHER of them, “Where’s Shizuo/Izaya?” and they’d both reply, “You mean the guy that I hate? That I hate with every corner of my being? That guy? He’s over there. Reminder tho that I hate them. A lot.”
Heck, even the writers ship it. They throw in non-violent Shizuo/Izaya innuendos now and then. Izaya called Shizuo cute, like. And not in an insulting way. He legit said he looked cute.
Granted I ship this way less than KaiJou, but when something is not just pure hatred and if one of them died the other would move on in seconds, then I cant help but ship it
I basically believe they’d feel something. That’s the appeal to me. That something
Its why I couldn’t get into Bakugou/Deku. He showed nothing but pleasure on his face whenever that innocent boy was in pain, and it creeped me out to think about shipping it
Even now, Bakugou and Deku may have hardly interacted this first half of season 2, exchanged a few lines so its nothing like season 1 where Bakugou was constantly out to get him, but… there’s nothing… there
Season 1 - hate
Season 2 - mostly ignores
No progress
So yeah, you probs sent this ask bc of the Yowapeda post and the fact that I ship Imaizumi/Naruko which did start off as a hate ship and changed. THAT’S the dream of mine with my hate ships.
They don’t even gotta be boyfriends, man. I just want them to get aloooong and booooond
