Recently, following a bit of a rabbit hole on everyday carry, I have been reviewing what I have with me as a bare minimum - the goal being to carry only what’s necessary to minimise distraction and ‘pocket bloat’. . Things can be beautiful but also need a function - like the pocket axe from @silverfoxtools - amusing, awesome and handy for sharpening pencils, or the key stash from @wearewingback along with their beautiful brass mechanical pencil tucked into my leather book cover/wallet - where my charcoal dot-grid pocket notebook lives with the day’s plan, lists and notes & doodles. This is them only consistent 24hr item. . Shot 1: Daytime EDC. iPhone, wallet, house keys inc key stash, car key, cards, pencil, BoxFox and @orbitkey organiser. . Shot 2: Evening Wilder. pencil with the perfect, handmade pencil cap from @outsideandleather and the tiny @kaweco.germany Lilliput (fireblue, fountain pen-bold), @dbkbushcraft zippo, @nokia ‘dumb’ phone and trusty notebook. . In the pursuit of a reduction in distraction - I invested in a Nokia 2720 to give me a hard-stop to access to social media, WhatsApp etc. at about 6pm each day, I shut my iPhone down and switch my sim to the almost featureless Nokia. This means no zombie-scrolling, better, more present conversations, fewer notifications and less temptation. And you know what? I bloody love it. I sleep better. I enjoy TV shows more, I am actually saving money(!), I am more productive in the mornings as I don’t switch back until 9am (and I get up at 5)!
