these are specifically for the beginning of the story, so they will all change with time.

Harper thinks Noha is cool. He likes their skills (assassin tingz yknow) and weirdly enough, he enjoys their company, despite the fact that Harper’s a chatterbox and Noha is Not That.

Harper’s opinion of Felix, Kaiden, Evangeline, and Aleksi is more or less the same: he thinks they’re all brats and hates them. He thinks Aleksi has no spine, Kaiden is way too bossy, Felix is a playboy (hilarious coming from Harper), and Evie is a prude.

Harper likes Mehri well enough, he thinks she s a lil naive but at least she isn’t out to get him.

And Harper finds Li Hua interesting. She claims to hate the authorities but she’s working with them. She claims to hate bounty hunters yet her best friend is one. Interesting. He thinks it best to keep an eye on her.

rewatching the Princess and the Frog and I love how Naveen is such a pathetic meow meow (affectionate)

man can't cook, can't clean, can't do anything for himself, but my god does he know how to be in love.

man fell HARD after Ma Belle Evangeline (you could argue even earlier too!) and spent the rest of the movie giving Tiana longing looks and fumbled declarations of love. he went from being a playboy who wanted to get married solely to fund his lifestyle to being willing to give up his literal humanity to stay with her, not to mention being willing to take on two/three jobs to help her achieve her dream, and I think more love interests should take notes!

Disney Review Request Princess and the Frog

Requested by @themousefromfantasyland who wanted me to discuss Princess and the FRog ,the PRincess film that isnt really talked about and why it is a bit under the radar ....And yeah I wanna talk about that too .See I remember the HYPE for this film :It was Disney going back to their roots ,a princess fairy tale musical in beautiful 2D animation by Ron Clements and John Musker AKA the best directors Disney has ever had ,this was it ,this was going to bring back Disney for a modern age.....And it did fine ,not the game changer Disney was hoping for and as a result instead of bring back Disney 2D after a long hiatus,it was more of a swan song befor one last gasp in the form of Winnie the Pooh .I also saw the film in the theaters right when Disney had kind of become an obsession and for a few years it was the fave movie of my lil sibling.....Till Frozen came out .Also spoilers ahead

The plot of this 2009 film concerns a waitress named Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) who dreams of opening her own restraunt ,and meets Naveen(Bruno Campos) a selfish Prince who has been turned into a frog in a scheme by the evil Dr Facilier (Kieth David ) ,and going by the Frog Prince fairy tale ,Naveen convinces Tiana to kiss him in exchange for enough money to pay for her restraunt .....Only for her to turn into a frog as well ,and the two set off on an adventure to find a way to make them human

This is a film I wish I loved ,cause there is a lot to love .The animation is beautiful ,and everytime I watch it I get a little sad cause 2D has been completly taken over by CG ,at least in America .I like the side characters .Louis the Trumpet playing gator while not having a lot to do is brilliantly animated by Eric Goldberg and played masterfully by Michael Leon Wooley (THough I will confess ,since I found out he played Audrey II in the Broadway version of Little Shop of Horrors ,I keep expecting him to go "Feeeeeddd Meeeee" ).I ADORE Mama Odie ,a 197 year old blind voodoo priestess .She is kind of a deceptively goofy yet wise character which is an archetype I love and Jennifer Lewis gives it her all ,I had no idea the actress was only in her 50's she convinced me she was much older . I think my favorite character might be Tianas friend Charlotte ,a rich girl obsessed with marrying a prince ,she is just so energetic and funny and I love that she genuinely cares about Tiana .Ray the firefly is a character I thought I wouldnt like when the film was being advertised and I confess I dont like his design .....But he is actually the heart of the film ,Jim Cummings givers a great performance ,I love his sub plot about being in love with a star ,Evangeline ,and I remember how shocking it was that Ray DIES .At the end of the film Dr Facilier KILLS him ,and I remeber the audience gasped in the theater .Now I have seen people who either think Rays death is emotionally powerful or straight up silly ,for me....Im a big ball of emotion ,so when that second star eppears next to the wishing star meaning Ray is finally with Evangeline ......I tear up

I really love Naveen as a character ,a disinherited playboy who loves jazz and his arc and romance with Tiana is good.I also just adore the setting ,I think 1920's New Orleans is the perfect place for a 20th century fairy tale (Wish they used it better but I will get into that ).I also love the use of jazz music and speaking about the music lets talk about the songs by Randy Newman .Now I am not a big Newman fan but I think the songs are really good though some are just OK and I am gonna talk about them from my least favorite to my most favorite

8.Never Knew I needed-the obligatory end credits pop song that is good ,but I dont love it ,I kind of forgot this one existed

7.When We're Human-Sung by Tiana,Naveen and Louis Its cute but kind of meh for me

6.Gonna Take You There-Sung by Ray and his Firefly family ,its just OK

5.Down in New Orleans(All versions)-I actually really like this song ,its a good opener and closer

4.Almost There:Tianas song that is really damn good, Anika Noni Rose does a fantastic job ,I think it is also my third favorite song animation wise ....I just like three other songs better

3.Ma Belle Evangeline -One of the most underrated love songs in Disney ,I think the sequence is beautiful(One of my favorite scenes in the film honestly ) and Jim Cumming really shows off his singing skills

2.Dig A Little Deeper :Mama Odies song and its just got a good message while also be8ing a ton of fun and Jennifer Lewis just sells it .I got a weakness for Gospel style numbers

1.Friends on the Other Side-OK I have opinions that are unpopular about Doctor Facilier but I will give him this ,he has one of the BEST Villain songs in Disney .Kieth David really shows off his amazing singing skills here,the animation is perfect ,I like how it builds up to being completely insane ,its fun ,its creepy ,its just a great villain song.....With a perfect reprise ,but I'll talk about that later

I'll talk about Tiana later ,so lets go into what I think is the flaws/things I am kind of meh about/thing that almost work but dont but-...*Sigh* lets just get into it

In the meh category ....The use of celeb voices here are weird.Like usually you get a big star to play the main character or the sidekick or the villain.....But aside from getting the great character actor Kieth David to play the villain,which I get but the other three BIG STARs play supporting characters.Now I kind of get Terrance Howard and Oparah Winfrey for the parents but...I'm just gonna say it ,why is JOHN GOODMAN IN THIS FILM ??I love John Goodman ,dont get me wrong ,and yeah he is a plot point, (FAcilier wants to kill him and gain his wealth ) but he doesnt do much so I am always distracted when I hear Goodmans voice

Annnnnnddd lets get to the part that I think might get me some flack....Lets talk about my issues,AND what I like about Dr Facilier .I KNOW this guy is super beloved he is the part of the movie people REALLY like....And I'm sorry I got problems with him .I'll start with what I like :His design is great ,evoking classic DIsney villains like Captain Hook ,his villain song like I said is marvelous ,I like his evil plan to take over New Orleans and feed all the inhabitants souls to his Friends on the Other Side ,he's got menace to him,I love the fact his shadow is alive .he is played by one of my favorite actors Kieth David who delivers a phenominal vocal performance and I like that beneath his cool facade he is actually a desperate and terrified dude when it comes to his otherworldly buddies ......But while he is made of cool parts ,they emphisize his greed ,his motive is he wants money and power ......Thats boring and it doesnt really vibe with "Im going to let spirits devour New Orleans " .The other is he is more plot villain and not a good foil to the heroes . He has no connection with Tiana really ,they only have one scene together and she apparently knows who he is but thats never explained .I say to make him a better villain

1.Emphisize his back story that he was someone who used magic to fufill his desires the easy way ,and his desperation to pay off his debt is his motive

2.Have him pursue the heroes ,and tempt the heroes.

I wll say he is a fun character ,I just wish he was great .....Oh his death scene is AMAZING and TERRIFYING though, dragged to the spirit world by his own shadow as his own villain song is sung by monstrus spirits ,that was such a jaw dropping scene in the theater ,possibly my favorite Disney villain death

As for things in the I dont like section.....The film begins strong,and ends strong too.....But that middle section in the bayou is just kind of dull.Up to Ma Belle Evangiline that whole part of the film just drags ,including these three minor bad guys that dont add anything ,theres some terrible jokes ,and two of the songs dont do it for me .Humor in general is hit and miss .Oh I almost forgot ,Lawrence is one of the most forgettable villain sidekicks in Disney,I kind of forget he is in the movie

1 - What do you think about Tiana as a character?

I like Tiana ,I think she is a good protagonist ,Anika Noni Rose soes a good performance ,I find her likeable and I like her romance with Naveen.

2 - Do you think this movie would be better if Tiana didn't turn into a frog, or if the frogs journeyed through New Orleans more inteastad of the bayou?

Yeah I wouldve preferred mor human Tiana,and while I like swampy settings ,I wanted more in New Orleans .

3 - Is this movie good, bad, or just watchable?

Its... on the good end of Watchable .I dont return to it a bunch it has flaws ...But its got its good stuff in it .I dunno I always go in wanting it to be better then it is

Overall it almost works but it feels undercooked ,but I still reccomend it .If best is A+ this is about a B

Appreciation Post for Underrated Disney Men:

Hi, so I don’t know if it’s just me, but when people talk about Disney guys, it’s a lot of I want someone like Eugene (Tangled) or Kristoff (Frozen), and I don’t blame them. But I wanted to make an appreciation post for some other guys. I may make another because I got tired finding gifs after awhile.

First we’ll start with:

Naveen (Princess and The Frog)

Okay, I couldn’t find the cute gifs of things he did as a frog, but oh my god, Prince Naveen. This man’s character arc kind of amazed me. He starts off as this playboy prince, but then he finds his “Evangeline”. He’s SO supportive of Tiana’s dream of owning a restaurant. He literally is there when she buys the place and helps her build it to make her dreams come true. He literally put Tiana’s hopes and dreams first instead of him proposing to her because her dreams meant the world to her and that was more important to him. Her happiness was more important to him. The way he looks at Tiana shows how much he absolutely adores and loves her. He tried learning to cook and let her teach him and show him how to do things.

Phoebus (Hunchback of Notre Dame):

Okay, I know the movie doesn’t go with the book, but this man. Oof. He literally pulls his horse out in front of guards as they chase after Esmeralda (because they are racist, Gypsy hating assholes) and makes Achilles, his horse, sit on the one who fell over. The man literally almost dies standing up to the hatred fueled rampage of Frollo because Frollo got a boner for Esmeralda and if he couldn’t have her, guess everyone will have to die. He literally thinks it’s badass and the hottest shit that she takes on all of the guards by herself. He’s also super adorable when he tries to charm Esmeralda and realizes he epically failed at it. He’s snarky. He’s funny. He also sees that Quasimodo is upset and Phoebus positively puts the attention on Quasimodo to make his friend feel better and to look good in front of Esmeralda.

Li Shang (Mulan):

He literally is the most awkward dork when it comes to talking to a strong, fierce female he is very much attracted to. He loves Mulan for herself and literally makes an excuse to return her helmet to her in order to see her again. He literally allows her to live after they found out she was a woman in the military because she had saved his life. Then when the Emperor was in danger, he literally put his differences aside and followed through with her plan. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s fucking amazing. He’s also a bumbling idiot in front of Mulan’s father when he tries to give the helmet back, and I love how he doesn’t try to play it “cool” in front of Mulan. He’s able to be himself and doesn’t have this burdening sense of responsibility over his shoulders. I love Shang so much.

🍰 - What is their favorite type of dessert or sweet?  

Evangeline’s favorite dessert is easily butter toffee.  She has a bit of a sweet tooth, and usually prefers fruit-flavored pastries as a dessert item, but there’s something about toffee that hits right.  There’s a curious sensation that comes with eating something that sticks in one’s teeth, and Eva for some reason enjoys that. 

🎃 - What is your character’s favorite holiday?

Heavensturn.  Evangeline enjoys the Starlight Celebration as well, but there’s something refreshing about a new year coming to fruition.  Every year she hopes she can shed a bit more of her past...until maybe one day it will all be forgotten. 

🌎 - If money were no object, where would they live and what would they do with their life? (Ex: entrepreneur, playboy, philanthropist, etc) 

Oddly enough, something that came up in a conversation with Iris a while ago stuck with Evangeline.  She doesn’t have the means for it, nor...really the skill, to be honest, but she finds the idea of starting a little chocolate shop to be quite appealing.  As of right now, of course, money is very much an object...starting a shop comes with a lot of expenses and Evangeline, on a guard’s salary, probably won’t be able to achieve that dream anytime soon.  Plus, she finds it a bit silly to think about...the assumption being that if anyone finds out about it, they would most likely make fun of her.

eva’s dad is a movie producer and her mom was the beautiful woman he met at a train station <3 her parents had a very whirlwind romance, very love at first sight, very passionate and intense type of relationship literally everything you see in hollywood ? they had that ! they got married after only a year of knowing each other and had eva soon after 

thats when things got not-so-picturesque /: after having eva, her mom entered a pretty dark depression. eva’s dad ( who had been aware of his wife’s mental health and even warned by her family against doing anything crazy like getting married and having a whole baby so fast ) was kinda in denial about everything. eva’s mom still had her good days, but the bad days were really bad & when eva was only two years old her mom had an accident & passed away 

so while eva’s dad was grieving, he sent little eva to new york city to go live with her grandma !! eva adored her grandmother more than anyone else. she was a retired jazz singer, and a lot of what they did together was sit around and listen to old records <3 eva lived with her until she was five years old & that’s pretty much the only childhood she can remember since her mom died when she was so young !! 

when her dad brings eva back to france, he’s doing a lot better. he’s back to producing movies and throwing parties and being a part of society again ( things he had stopped while he was grieving for his wife ) and he even found his own form of “medicine” which was simply the company of beautiful women ! most of them were young actresses he met through his work, all of them were gorgeous, and they all adored little eva <3 

eva adored them right back ! they taught her stuff she imagined all mother’s teach their daughters: how to dress well, how to smell nice, how to get people’s attention, what makeup to wear, how to do your hair, how to speak so everyone hangs on to your every word, etc. she was still a little girl but she was absorbing all these lessons like a sponge, & it’s a big part of why she’s so obsessed with her own femininity and why she’s got this mindset about being beautiful inside & out in order to feel balanced. 

none of the women her dad brought home were ever at her house for more than a week. her father, who had been a notorious bachelor before eva’s mother, seemed incapable of falling in love again. that was his first and maybe only lesson to eva, which was how to break hearts, which is something else she absorbed & carried with her as she grew up

as eva grew up, she kinda became obsessed with trying to imagine what her mom had been like. no one in her family liked to talk about her, especially not her dad, but she knew she looked just like her and she was kinda always trying to fill in the blanks. but then one christmas her dad let it slip that her mom’s death hadn’t been an accident at all, that it had been on purpose. that was kind of the turning point for eva & she just kind of....stopped trying to re imagine her mom after that just kinda wanting to let her rest /:

she also went through a phase of doing stuff just because she could. she’d flirt with people’s boyfriends, she’d make strangers fall in love with her, she’d date people just to break up with them suddenly, etc. she kind of realized just how much she could get away with, but more than that, just how far people would go when they fell in love. she was obsessed with that, but also kind of jealous of those people just because she’d never felt that kind of soul shattering love for someone before and she really does want to </3 while she’s never been in love before, and while she does get bored of lovers easily, she still feels a type of attachment that is sometimes so strong she’s not willing to let the other person go even if she’s being selfish by hanging onto people she can’t get serious abt /: thats just life sometimes......whore rights !

Weston flashed his signature smile at the paparazzi, trying to keep his eyes focused as hundreds of camera flashes assaulted him. He supposed he should be used to this by now, having cameras in his face wasn’t a new thing, not when you were the sole air of Maddox Corporation. His entire life was on display for the media thanks to their multibillion-dollar company and the popularity of his own parents. Mason and Evangeline Maddox, we’re two well-known faces in the city and soon Weston was one of them when he began growing into adulthood and especially so when he officially began working in their family business. His date, the woman currently who had her arms linked through his as she posed for the cameras so naturally as if she were born for them. Tonight, was yet another charity gala he was to attend much to his dismay, it was not as if he was needed there his parents could handle this very well on their own. That didn’t seem to appease them, lecturing him once more that soon he would be the face of their company and as such, it was imperative that he began making appearances to these events.

“Mr. Maddox, who is the woman on your arms tonight?” One reporter asked and Weston flashed him an annoyed look before shrugging. Really, she was no one but his companion for the night and if he was in the mood he’d take her home tonight but that was still up in the air. The blonde on his arm was oblivious to the questions being thrown at them, maybe intentionally choosing instead to ensure they had right pictures of her. Everyone knew Weston Maddox to be a ladies man, he was never seen with the same woman in his arms. And he’d read about the various articles of his adventures and his ‘playboy’ ways. The businessman had no intention of settling down because things like love and commitment weren’t real and his parents were living proof of that. Whereas once they might have loved each other, now the two could barely stand to be in the same room. He would never subject himself to that sort of torture, he was perfectly content with his one-night stands, no hassles, and no baggage. Besides, anyone who knew him well enough to know, Weston not the sort of man any woman wanted to tie herself to permanently, she’d only end up disappointed.

His and his date made his way inside after a few minutes and upon his entrance a small crowd of people approached him, kissing his ass some more in hopes of being in good graces of his parents. Growing tired of the inane babble around him after a few minutes, Weston excused himself saying he needed to make a quick phone call, letting his date know she was free to mingle and without waiting for her response, he walked away and towards the bar area. He would need a good solid scotch to get him through this night and to deal with these insufferable people, while he cared about his company he did not care for the events he had to attend. Unlike what his image painted, Weston wasn’t much of a crowd or a party person it was an image he set out because that was what they expected of him. 

Turning in the direction towards of the bar, he had only gotten a couple of steps in when someone walked by and caused him to lose his footing momentarily he caught himself but still bumped into another figure. He hadn’t look up quite yet as he was busy giving a quick glance to his tux to ensure nothing was spilled on it. Satisfied it remained undamaged, he began to move his gaze to the figure, a woman’s figure he noticed “I’m sorry about that, someone- “, only he stopped mid-sentence when he realized who he had run into. Jhanvi Yashvardhan. Out of all the people he could have run into, it had to be her, already when he was in a sour mood, to begin with. “Never mind, I take back my apology, it’s just you. Really, you should learn to walk properly if you’re going to wear heels that high.” He told her with a mocking smirk, though his hazel eyes were cold as ice chips as he stared down at her pretty face. There was no missing the distaste in his expression but he knew the feeling was mutual on her end as well. The Yashvardhans were the Maddox’s rivaling family after all the two were in the same business and thus never failed to butt heads. However, his dislike for Jhanvi went a little further than that, recalling the incident a few years ago that left them both with a bitter taste in their mouth. Mostly, he hated the judgmental looks she gave him, walking around as if she were better than him. “Came to kiss ass like the rest of them?” He knew he should walk away but that would mean passing up a chance to mock her.
