Last night at the Democratic National Convention, whether you were inside the United Center, watching at home, or somewhere in between, one of the most instantly special moments was when Coach Governor Tim Walz was speaking and the camera (the Jumbotron if you were inside) panned to Walz’s kids Hope and Gus, who were visibly in tears with pride over what their father was currently doing.

“That’s my dad!” shouted Gus, who was just about bawling. Up in the media section, among all the surely Very Serious Reporters, there were audible gasps of emotion when that happened.

The comments on that tweet were so vile that the Blaze, that clearinghouse for self-reflection, appears to have deleted it entirely.

When even some people who are usually assholes tweeted about how moved they were by the Walz family, they got the same thing in their replies:

To be clear, the consensus among all decent human beings was that it was an incredible moment the likes of which we rarely see in politics.

Some people are talking about how Gus Walz is neurodiverse, has a nonverbal development disorder the Walz family has been outspoken about, which would make it extra-cruel and vile and inhuman for Republican rotting carcasses to make fun of him and his reaction to his dad being on that stage.

I didn’t realize how much some nfl players hates LSU (probably played against them in college)!! Ryan Clark was going off on Twitter with Jalen Ramsey about lsu vs fsu and made me question if some players might hold grudges against others😅 For example, Trevor Lawrence is cool with Joe but AJ Terrell doesn’t show Joe and Ja’Marr the same respect. I think Sauce had a weird phase with Lsu lmao but do you know if there’s other players ?

Honestly I don't pay much attention to college football, but I think it makes sense! These guys are hugely competitive and they care a lot about their alma mater. I think there's always gonna be room for some friendly trash talk.

Pastor Dr. Anthony Tyrone “Tony” Evans Sr. (September 10, 1949) is an evangelical pastor, speaker, author, and widely syndicated radio and television broadcaster in the US. He served as senior pastor at the over-9,500-member Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas (1976-2024).

In 1973, He was contacted by a radio show producer from Houston (KHCB). This man had contacted Dallas Theological Seminary, He was a junior in the Th.M. program, asking for great preaching content to put on his program for free. He began the public broadcasting of Dr. Tony Evans. Recorded in a tiny studio on the seminary campus, he spent the next few years faithfully preaching into a microphone for a crowd unseen in Houston.

The Urban Alternative was formed in 1981 when requests for his sermons came in so frequently from his Houston and Dallas radio broadcasts that Mrs. Lois Evans, co-founder of the ministry, began fulfilling orders. He was invited to preach at the National Religious Broadcasters annual conference.

Radio stations began to air his program. Under the leadership of Dr. Lois Evans, Senior Vice-President of TUA, the radio ministry grew nationally and internationally. The reach of his preaching now spans the world, with his broadcasts airing on over 1,400 radio outlets and in over 130 countries, reaching millions each week.

He earned a BA at Carver College, a Th.M., and a Th.D. at Dallas Theological Seminary.

He was married to his late wife Lois Irene Evans. Their marriage produced four children. They have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Chrystal Hurst, is a worship leader, Christian speaker, and writer. Priscilla Shirer is a New York Times Best-Selling Author, Christian speaker, and founder of Going Beyond Ministries. Anthony Jr. is a contemporary Christian musical artist. Jonathan was a football player with the Bills, Redskins, and Cowboys. He played fullback for the Buffalo Bills, the Washington Redskins, and the Dallas Cowboys. Jonathan is the current chaplain of the Dallas Cow.
