Violet’s bedroom Pt. 2
I did a post the other year in detail on Violet’s bedroom her eclectic style (click here if you haven’t seen it). I mentioned a lot of items on that post and also talked about the fact her bedroom is eclectic, meaning she has a collection of different styles, tastes and ideas. Some of it could even fall under bohemian (the noun, not place). The Anthropologie Karakoram rug is an example of that - it’s exotic and handmade. Many of her clothing is also bohemian style.
I also mentioned recently in a separate post (click here) that her bedroom is actually a pale, duck egg blue not green or teal. It’s explained in the post about how the lighting and times of day effect the appearance and hue of her walls.
Bohemian
Some of the items in her room that could fall under Bohemian style are her Karakoram rug, her two moroccan pouffes. Most people don’t mention the fact that she has two more Moroccan pouffes (she has a black and purple one). She also has a beige patchwork one.
Industrial
She has a few items that are classed as “industrial” style - the wall lighting, her black wire bookshelf, the copper wire basket near the chalkboard and other desk lighting in her room. Industrial style means aesthetic or items that are commonly used in old factories, building materials etc.. A common theme in industrial style is wire/metal and exposure, such as exposure of brick walls.
Other furniture/items
Her yellow marble top dresser has a floral pattern on the woodwork which is commonly seen in antique French marble top dressers. But there’s no way of verifying where the dresser is from, but it’s one of my favourite pieces in Violet’s bedroom and no one ever talks about it! I think it’s so beautiful.
Between the lamp and gum ball machine is an antique style open wooden jewellery box. Throughout the season there are different items on her dresser, from loose jewellery to her IPod dock.
On top of her marble dresser next to the gum ball machine she has an old looking desk light. The exact light used is called "Jumo GS1 Table Lamp, 1960s" I always assumed they glued on the doll to the base of the lamp for the show, after researching the lamp there is a white switch that sticks up on the base of the lamp where the doll head is attached/placed on. So she uses the doll’s head to switch it on. 💀 I also wonder if the lamp was supposed to be a left over item from when nurse’s stayed there due to the “60’s” era style lighting? (The lamp was actually made in the 60’s)… Just a thought.
Also, when researching this lamp it stated it as “industrial style”. There’s still many of these secondhand lamps for sale, mostly from European countries as it is of French origin.
Another item that never gets mentioned is the wire mannequin that is to the left of chalkboard!
Another less talked about item is her vintage black floral bin. They are typically a style from the 50’s and hand painted. You can commonly find them secondhand on places like EBay with some beautiful paintings.
I might do a Pt.3 another time as I have hit the maximum image limit.

I don't go here but can you explain the post about art theft and stuff in the doll community? Niche drama fascinates me
Hoo boy. Gather ye round, friends, and let Marzi tell you a very long tale. A tale of counterfeiting and people being very selective with their definitions of “art theft.”
So BJDs. Ball-Jointed Dolls(TM). For the purposes of modern collecting, these are dolls primarily made of polyurethane resin, strung with elastic cord, customizable, and highly articulated. They stemmed from a combination of anime model kits + the aesthetics and jointing of some 19th-century European dolls, The first ones were made by the Volks company in the 1990s.
Nowadays there are dozens of legit companies out there, mostly in Japan, South Korea, and China, and even more individual BJD artists all over the world. And that’s not even counting the artists who sell goods and services for BJDs: wigs, clothes, eyes, faceups (basically, the painting on the doll’s face), furniture, accessories, etc. It’s quite a large community at this point.
These are dolls for adults. They’re usually made in very small batches or to order, and the term “company” can be deceiving. Often, it means something like “12 people in a rented studio in Seoul.” The materials have to be purchased. The artists have to be paid. There are bills and other overhead costs, and the product isn’t something that sells in high volumes. Basically it’s a quality over quantity operation, for most companies, and that means the dolls are expensive. Very basic “budget” BJDs start around $150, and it can get all the way into the thousands for very exclusive, OOAK dolls.
Enter recasters.
Recasting is basically bootlegging BJDs. Plain and simple. Recasters, usually factory owners in countries where production costs can be very low, either buy a legit doll or have it sent to them. They take a cast of the parts and start using the molds to produce copies of the doll. Those copies sell for a fraction of the legit dolls’ prices, because of course it’s easier to just crank out products when you don’t have to go through the development and sculpting processes. And when you can get away with paying your workers peanuts, using inferior materials, spending less time on the finishing work, skirting safety rules, etc.
Obviously, if the market is flooded with cheaper copies of an expensive doll, a lot of people will buy the cheap version without realizing it’s a knock-off. And that can drive legit companies out of business. Recasts, especially in recent years, have gotten VERY good at aping the look and feel of the original doll, so if you don’t know it’s a problem it can be very hard to tell the difference.
Or if you just don’t care.
Because, you see, there are people out there who are totally okay with this. A lot of them claim it’s a “more accessible” way to join the hobby, and that people who are against recasts (commonly called “pro-artist”) are just elitist snobs. Instead of, you know...decent human beings who don’t support art theft.
There are multiple lists of less-expensive legit BJDs out there, that people have taken considerable time and effort to compile. The most common argument from the pro-recast side that I’ve seen about this is basically “Well, if people want a specific higher-end doll, they shouldn’t have to settle for something ‘lesser!’ “ So even though a lot of work has gone into finding the most budget-friendly dolls in the hobby, apparently that’s still elitist. Somehow.
You can probably tell from my tone where I stand on this. I think it’s flatly absurd that people are driving small, artist-run companies or individual artists to bankruptcy because they feel they’re entitled to a certain luxury hobby item. And entitled to it right now, without even saving up or doing a layway.
(So many companies and secondhand sellers have layaways. Most BJD collectors are not rich. I’m banging my head against the wall thinking about just how many ways there are to make this hobby work on a budget that the pro-recast crowd just ignores or shoots down.)
Anyway now there’s the problem that sales pages for recasts tend to dominate generic searches like “BJD for sale,” and people from outside the community often know BJDs are a thing before they understand about recasts. If you see a doll for like $100 and the same doll for like $300 elsewhere, you might pick the cheaper option without stopping to think about it. Because you don’t know you need to think about it.
Once somebody clues these people in to what they’ve done, there are all too many pro-recast forums and blogs waiting to tell them that pro-artist collectors are just “mean, elitist bullies” and that recasts are totally fine. Which is probably what you’d want to hear if you just got this doll you really like, so people are ready to believe it. And thus the problem continues.
Honestly, it always surprises me a bit how angry I get about recasts. I’m not primarily a BJD collector. My main focus is antique and vintage dolls. I have three resin BJDs, all legit, and I’m mostly in it to have dolls I can actually take places without the risk of damaging a historical artifact.
I just. I hate the idea of artists getting ripped off, and people falling for scams that put them into bad situations because they don’t know any better. And ESPECIALLY other people who think artists’ ability to support themselves doesn’t matter.
So anyway, that’s a very long-winded explanation of the recast issue. Hope it was interesting and informative.
#ask#anon#dolls#bjds#long post#not only CAN similar dolls at cheaper price points drive companies out of business#they WILL#that's what happened with the French doll market in the late 19th century#the Germans made very similar child dolls and undercut their prices#turning the French doll companies from a booming international business#to something that limped along (mostly just in France) for another few decades- quality declining -until it finally died#history has a lesson here that the BJD community would do well to heed#if you want to keep having beautiful dolls made by artists who (for the most part) seem to actually get paid decent wages#this recast thing has to be stamped out

#JusticeforJohnnyDepp: Johnny’s witness statements at a glance (Stephen Deuters, Malcolm Connolly & Trinity Esparza)
Things I Cover in this Post:
May 2014: incident on the plane
March 2015: the finger injury incident in Australia
May 2016: the phone throwing incident, leading to the application for the TRO
AH’s behaviour following her applying for the Temp Restraining Order against Johnny
Elon Musk’s involvement with AH
The witness statements I am featuring highlights from are from Stephen Deuters- personal assistant to Johnny from 2004-2017, working currently as the European president of Johnny’s production company (his texts were included in The Sun’s opening statement, there have been inconsistencies in his story but he claims the messages were altered), Malcolm Connolly- security guard of Johnny since 2004 and Trinity Esparza- owner of the Eastern, works as front desk supervisor since 2014.
I’m gonna go in chronological order of these events, which begins with Stephen Deuters statements.
The Sun have cast some doubt over how trustworthy Stephen’s accounts can be, citing text messages, which Stephen says were doctored. Here we see that Stephen was using Scum’s language back to her to placate her because she was probably unresponsive and unwilling to converse with anyone until they presented themselves as at least a little on her side, I’m assuming. Was it manipulative of him to use the word ‘kick’ in order to gain a different reaction out of Scum? A bit, sure. But from the audio recordings we can see that she is insistent when she thinks she’s making a point, we can even hear how her use of language/the way she refers to certain incidents does not match up with the recollections of others present at the time. I think an important part of Stephen’s statement here is that the authenticity can be proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt. The chairs in the plane were fixed to the ground - facts are facts. What plane doesn’t have furniture fixed to the floor? What kind of crazy health and safety hazard is that?
This is something I wanted to expand upon. Victims of domestic violence can/will hide their injuries in order to protect their abuser and so, one could argue that Scum never disclosed any of her injuries to Stephen because she was either protecting Johnny or she was feeling the shame of being a victim of this violence. Nope. No sale, I’m not buying that. In the first screenshot, we see Stephen talking about how Scum insisted upon he and Jerry (the only two present aside from she and Johnny) that Johnny had kicked her. Continued to insist and, like I said before, she will repeat herself until she gets the response she wants (or gets distracted by something else). She was so quick to yell out to Stephen and Jerry to be her witnesses and Stephen even presented himself to agree with her. Even back in 2014, she was trying to plant the seeds of Johnny being an abuser and she was sharing this to members of his staff. Stephen was still Johnny’s assistant when the divorce/tro happened, so what happened between 2014 to 2016 to make her stop going to him with this false narrative? Was it that she thought this ‘kick’ (it was a tap on her butt from Johnny’s foot, my gf and I do shit like that to each other all the time, calm down Brenda) was strong enough evidence to convince them of her point of view, and everything else after that she didn’t have them bear witness to? (because none of it happened).
Okay now we’re going to move to March 2015 and Australia, namely the incident of Johnny’s finger getting sliced down to the bone, as recounted by Malcolm Connolly
Malcolm had seen Scum throw objects before, interesting coz Scum (and her party) has accused Johnny of throwing things all about all of the time. She’s again projecting her own behaviour onto him because she’s the perfect abuser. Also, wow, how dare you hurt his perfect fucking face? And then tell him that you love him? She is disgusting.
They immediately came up with a way to cover for Scum because it would create extremely bad publicity for her. Or could it be that, as a man, Johnny was afraid to come forward as a victim of violence because no one would believe him because that’s exactly what’s happening right now. Fake feminists will spout shit like ‘men can’t be abused’ and will blindly believe Scum purely because she’s a woman. The idea of a man being abused is not a part of the accepted mainstream perspective and Johnny was undoubtedly shamed into silence, like so many other victims (regardless of gender) are. It’s an antiquated view that isn’t based in any facts and it’s keeping other male victims silent to protect this idea of men being always strong and to be anything else is pathetic.
Let’s jump ahead to when the shit really hit the fan - March 2016, this is when the allegations began to leak and Johnny was finally cutting himself free of Scum. The following are highlights from the statement of Trinity Esparza.
Hello to Miss Trinity who is an impartial witness, I think this is definitely worth taking note of. Especially when you compare it to who The Sun relied on for their witness statements- 8 people, including Scum herself, who all have a personal connection to her. People who are clearly her friends and have an emotional connection to this case. Trinity is the kind of witness we have been waiting for.
Okay, so the phone throwing incident, which led to the fantastical, moving bruise on Scum’s face, occurred on May 21st of 2016. We’ve all seen it by now because she walked around with it on display for sympathy/pity when she was going to court to apply for that temp restraining order (which was denied, never forget that fact). One would assume that it was visible to the press that day because there was no makeup was on her face. So how come the bruise wasn’t visible closeup four days after the injury supposedly occurred?
Here we have the magical, fantastical, moving bruise - welcome her to the stage, six days after the impact allegedly occurred. This is six days after Rocky took those closeup photos of the injury (the photos they took immediately after Johnny’s alleged ‘temper tantrum’ that left a path of destruction through the apartment... which four separate cops failed to find any trace of).
And here we have some more irrefutable evidence, video surveillance that is time/date stamped. I would like to note that Trinity points out Johnny left the night of the 21st and did not return, so Scum’s bruise only beginning to appear to Trinity on the 27th isn’t due to Johnny returning to abuse her some more. He was entirely gone.
Rocketman returns, clearly Scum was in some kind of relationship with him before Johnny left (emotional affairs are just as real/damaging as a sexual affair).
Wow. Read this paragraph and really think about what kind of twisted fuck Scum is. She has friends at People magazine, a direct line to the press so that she can control how the story comes out.
More of the Rocketman, just enjoying his time in the penthouse owned by Johnny, the penthouse he was forced to flee after continued abuse from his lying wife. It clearly was something she/they were trying to hide because he was only dropping by late at night when Johnny was away. Please note that Scum and Mollusc were publicly dating each other in 2016, online articles place their relationship as ‘beginning’ (I would say beginning to be public would be a more truthful way of putting it) in May of 2016. The exact same month when she began publicly accusing Johnny of abuse. So that’s a nice bit of overlapping there... and by nice, I mean gross and making no fucking sense.
I am really grateful for all of the reblogs and interaction, let’s keep fighting for the truth.

So i shared this with reddit and i thought y’all might appreciate it too. this is an incomplete list of some of the WILDEST things i’ve seen working at estate sales with my auntie over the last ten years. this is the crazy stuff that you don’t see at the sale because we’ve ... dealt with it prior to the sale. 😂😂😂
We were running a moving sale with some elderly clients. A week before the sale was due to happen the client was murdered in her home. The sale got temporarily cancelled while the police were investigating. It was slated to be such a lucrative sale that we still REALLY wanted to do it. The client's family told us to go ahead with the sale after the police were done. I kept finding knives everywhere hidden in the house. there were several windows in the home on the floor where the murder happened that were pressure cracked. it was really weird. the stuff was great though, and I got some AMAZING shoes from that house lol. house was 3 stories with a 3 story carriage house garage and sold for 2.5mil -- after the murder. i had to hack into the dead lady's computer to wipe it so we could sell it.
one sale we were working with the adult children of this elderly woman who had recently passed after living alone for many years. her husband (and the children's father) had passed away in a single plane crash of a tiny prop plane in the 70s and the lady ... to put it politely ... never recovered from this. She became addicted to shopping and purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of high end, designer clothes -- which she never wore. She left them everywhere in the house in the original bags, with the receipts and tags still on them. We ended up selling all the clothes for $5-$20 an article as our primary goal for the clients is getting rid of as much of the stuff as possible in the 2-4 sale days we have. Oh, and we found the outfit that the dead husband had been wearing at the time of his death, which she had retained in cardboard box in her basement after it had been removed from his body.
The client was the son of two wealthy doctors who had owned their own private practice in the city. Parents had both been dead for 10 years and the client had done absolutely nothing with their house since his mother had died (I don't believe that he had even ever been in the house since). The client's parents had had their home completely redone in 1961 with high-end custom made designer European import furniture, wallpaper and wall to wall shag carpeting in every room of the 3 story, 5 bed 3 bath house. They had retained bags and bags of all of the original receipts for everything from the remodel and had subsequently never remodeled or redid the house. The shag carpeting had worn bare to the hardwood floor in some rooms -- it was pretty gross. The house was in dire need of at least 100k in work, but was still listed at 2mil. We found several dead animals in the attic (raccoons, squirrels, and a skunk). The garage had a porsche in it that we were supposed to sell, but the keys to the porsche were missing and the garage smelled suspiciously like more dead animals. The house had at least 1000 random keys that I had to sort through during prep to find the extra house keys, extra garage keys, keys to the furniture and, most importantly .... keys to the porsche.
The deceased at another house we did a sale at kept every single piece of mail that she EVER received between 1950 and the day she died in massive steamer trunks throughout the house. I had to go through the trunks to make sure there was no money in any of the envelopes.
The deceased at another house were twin sisters who were spinsters and lived together running an antiques store. For some reason they had a huge inventory of china sets of varying ages. The sets were not assembled and I went through 100 boxes of china to put together like 40 china sets, carefully matching maker's marks and floral patterns. -100/10, by the end, at 3:30AM i could not tell the difference between flowers.
The deceased bought a new purse every time her current purse got too full and threw the full purse -- contents and all into a plastic garbage bag in the basement of the home --- for over 50 years. The basement was FILLED with hundreds of purses. I emptied the purses out and went through them and found ~10K in cash/change, tons of diamonds and gold and a lot of very fun vintage makeup. The house had a lot of junk in it. we went through 3 industrial size dumpsters during staging.
We eat food that we find at the sales during staging more often than you might think. Sometimes this is a terrible idea lol. The oldest thing we ever had was expired microwave popcorn from the 80s. It was still pretty good 🤷🏻♀️
We once found 20K in bonds in the basement of a home
this house was so full of stuff that you could not walk even a single foot through that house before we staged it. deceased had been 98 years old and still living there when she passed. the only living family (our clients) lived out of state so we worked with them through a lawyer. there was a MASSIVE amount of furniture packed in the basement of the house that we had to drag up out of the basement, as it turned out that every time someone died in the client's family they just stuff all of their stuff in this home. lots of late 19th, early 20th century steamer trunks, all full of 1940s-50s women's clothing. The house also had probably 10k stationary sets in it in in a single bedroom. Other collections of things included several thousand pieces of jewelry, about half/half costume/real, antique lace, multiple china sets. One piece of furniture that my cousin and I dug out of the basement was a locked cabinet. Auntie finds the keys and we unlock it to find that it is full of 1800s firearms. we can not sell these as we are not licensed to sell firearms. Uncle buys them directly off of the client because he collects antique firearms.
House was full of 1980s arcade game machines and pinball machines as was the 4 car garage and carriage house. House also had a robust collection of antique/vintage cameras.
deceased collected expensive artwork in her condo. She had so much artwork that ever square inch of her walls were covered in artwork. She had started nailing artwork the ceiling in all of the rooms. Throughout the whole sale I was standing on a ladder to take down artwork from the ceilings as the artwork on the walls sold.
home was a top story penthouse condo. condo building in question did not have a freight elevator. there were several large pieces of furniture in the home that we could not move out of the unit, let alone into the elevator. found out that the deceased had bought into the building whilst it was being built in the 1960s and they had had their largest pieces of gorgeous designer furniture air-lifted into the unit before the ceilings were built. rich people man.
There is obv SO much more, and Auntie has some even wilder stories.

POPULAR QUESTIONS
Why does an upholstery service cost so much?
Every renovation project requires a lot of expenses. This includes fabric bulks as materials and labour. The price of each new upholstered set of custom made furniture is based on how many types of fabric you select and the cost of each fabric per meter. Plus the cost of the accessories such as trimming, nail, pins, and glues if needed. If you need to make a calculation of your future interior renovation project, you are welcome to visit our fabric showroom located in Sydney. Give us a call or email us and our fabric craftsman will help you with this issue.
Do you offer delivery services?
We are pleased to provide delivery for our customers from our store located in St Peters Sydney. At the conclusion of your purchase, your sales associate will work with you to arrange a delivery date and time that fits your schedule. Current Line Europe will contact you once the newly upholstered furniture has been upholstered and will make every effort to ensure your new upholstered furniture looks just as good in your home as in the design process at the store.
How is the process initiated?
First we recommend you browse through our extensive collection of Australian and international fabrics on display. Look through our design and pattern books and then decide on a style and fabric. If you need to redecorate and upholster your old furniture, you need to bring a photo to assist the fabric craftsman to provide the right feedback. Then we can approve the project and budget and we’ll start working on restoring your furniture.
