I married the Georgian bail to the top of this brooch. This piece is set with rose cut diamonds that are primitively hand cut and set in silver with a foiled closed back. Before electricity, diamonds were foiled so that they would shimmer and glimmer in candlelight. This adds exceptional to beauty and rarity to this piece but it also makes it higher maintenance. It is not advised to wear in water, as the moisture gets captured in the foil and discolors the diamonds.
