The Flat White: Australia Versus New Zealand
Didn't realize this draft was finished! Just added some photos, so please enjoy my amateur coffee opinions from AUS and NZ!
If there’s one thing you must know about these two nations, it’s that they have a pretty strong rivalry. There are too many things they rival about to list here, but I want to focus on one in particular: The Flat White. I want to discuss a bit of its history and how it takes shape in the modern lives of Aussies and Kiwis. Continue reading The Flat White: Australia Versus New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand Auckland is a charming city and I wish I had been able to spend more time in New Zealand. A few travel ideas below. Waiheke Island: This island is full of wineries, beaches and natural beauty. It’s a doable day trip from Auckland, but would be worth staying overnight. There is a system of busses to get you to different wineries on the island and while some of the best spots are reservation only, many solid wineries are walk in. Wynyard Quarter: This neighborhood is a post industral development and worth walking around. The fish market is here in addition to tons of cute shops and restaurants. Britomart: This is a few square blocks of the CBD where there is also shopping, dining and a cute farmers market. Federal and Wolf Cafe, 10 Federal St Espresso Workshop, 11 Britomart Pl Island Gelato, Ferry Building Best Ugly Bagels, 90 Wellseley St Food Truck Garage, City Works Depot

Hey there! I’m planning a trip and was wondering what your best recommendations are for a morning coffee in the CBD? I just discovered your blog while looking and I think it’s fabulous!
Hello and thank you!
I don't know if these places are specifically good for "morning" coffee, but they are some of my favourite Auckland CBD cafes off the top of my head:
Chuffed - High Street
The Shelf - High Street
Remedy Coffee - Wellesley Street
EOS Coffee - Inside Queen's Arcade
Espresso Workshop - Britomart area
Kokako - Commercial Bay
Daily Daily - K Road
Let me know if you make it to any and what you think! 😊

Espresso Workshop, Britomart
Drinks pictured: Flat white ($4.8) and pour over coffee ($6.3)
Went back to the Espresso Workshop cafe in Britomart after 2 years (the third photo of the filter coffee is actually from 2 years ago). I've had their coffee in other cafes before, but I still enjoy it here whenever I can. The cafe has some bar type seats inside and tables outside (which are all covered). They offer a bunch of coffee options which include espresso based drinks as well as filter coffee!
