Out of the ski trip and straight into a beach episode! Complete with a lot of our most iconic Fishmen and the adorable schoolgirl Shirahoshi. Fun little chapter, starts off at the beach with Arlong in a seemingly more friendly role. A little tiff with the New Fishman Pirates when Luffy swipes some meat from Hody. Come across the princess.

Curious to see where this goes, and I hope we finally get our guy Jinbei!

As you might have guessed, I'm not a huge fan of the context surrounding this scene, but on its own, it was a beautifully choreographed swordfight with some really interesting shots, especially the point of view ones from behind the veil.

And the music,,ah, it was perfect! I don’t think we've heard it before, and it really added a lot to the whole atmosphere. It's been a while since Liu Bei got involved in any direct combat, so this was a very welcome addition as well

I spent hours thinking through, writing out, charting, erasing, and starting over again, trying to create foolproof situations and absolutely rocking out to my favorite tune for getting work done: “Smoothed Brown Noise 12 Hours Black Screen For Sleeping/Working/Studying.” Greatest piece of music ever written. Bar none. Come at me, Mozart.

Okokok I’m almost certainly not the first person to think of this, but I’m listening to today’s episode and the talk of imprinting and soulmates and the Renesmegg hit me with a realization.

I think Jacob would have imprinted on Bella if she had never met Edward. Just meeting Edward changed Bella so irrevocably that what would have been Jake imprinting on HER had to pivot to the Renesmegg instead.

But also I doubt Smeyer ever actually thought about that seriously.

it would certainly either Joss or strongly support the canon theory that imprinting happens based on genetics and is trying to "make stronger wolves" (holy eugenics batman) depending on how you looked at it, but canon never adequately explains that anyway, so. may as well go nuts

Hahaha! I looked away when I paused, and I didn't realize I got a nice shot of Yumi accidentally falling on top of Ulrich and possibly kissing him. This is one for the Kadic yearbook! xD

We did have a new Academy drop last week too! 54 continues the focus on Shirahoshi with a lot of love to Fishman Island and Reverie. Got a re-creation of her swimming away with Luffy and some of the iconic Wimpyhoshi bits which were all fun.

What I loved though was a little flashback that shows us some things. Like Nami already being friends with the mermaid. (Correction, that's Rebecca) But also...hi Otohime! It's not 100% yet, but remember in Academy dead parent figures tend to still be around. I never even considered that but I love the idea of a universe where Otohime is still alive! Please let her whomp Sanji for being a perv so hard she hurts herself.
