Dragon Ball Z: Abridged Episode 20 Review
Originally posted on October 30th, 2015
Conflating anime with wrestling is, unsurprisingly, an amazing decision.
āNamekimania 2011ā is my favorite episode of Dragonball Z: Abridged, and it is my favorite for very good reasons: the episode is packed to the brim with great jokes, Team Four Star experiments with their approach to adaptation in it, and it even manages to find time to focus on the heroism and honor that are the crux of the source material.
In fact, āNamekimaniaā is so good that I could just list off all the great lines from the episode and end the review here. But Iām not gonna do that, because thatās no fun (though the strays are loaded with quotes this week because I have no self-control).
Letās start with the key joke/device of this episode. āNamekimania 2011ā has Team Four Star making the bold decision to reframe a somewhat inconsequential fight between Vegeta and Recoome (played by Ganxingba delightfully mimicking the staged charisma of a professional wrestler) as a live televised pro wrestling match.
And it works wonderfully, because Team Four Star commits fully to this device, incorporating an audience track of cheering and booing, having Jeice and Burter serve as announcers/commentators, and giving us ārecapsā of what weāve missed on the few times they cut away to other characters.
The āanime fight as pro wrestlingā device also works extraordinarily well because it captures the ridiculousness of both of the mediums. Fights in anime are generally ridiculous affairs, with characters breaking the laws of physics and rules of the established universe very frequently, coupled with over the top blood, screams, and emotions. Wrestling similarly is over the top, with heroes and villains appearing as ridiculous caricatures, as well as allowing the wrestlers to clearly and blatantly disregard the rules in order to get an audience response.
When combined, the ridiculousness from both mediums complement each other, with the unreasonable action and caricatured fighters blending seamlessly, and itās especially fun to see how the live commentary of Jeice and Burter serves to enhance the thrill of the fight itself.
āNamekimaniaā also finds time to embrace the hyperemotionalism of anime (its other extreme) in two scenes. The first is Gohanās speech, as he walks slowly towards Recoome, broken and battered, that he is the son of Son Goku, the one man who can kick Recoomeās ass, and the second is the scene where Goku steps out of the spaceship, which pairs an 80ās rock song with a series of slow clips showing him gradually exiting the spaceship. With that scene, we know something is coming, and some serious shit is about to go down.
Rating: 5/5

Stray Observations
Recoomeās introduction speech is the greatest thing ever, and I will fight you if you say otherwise.
Gohan: āWho are you talking to?ā Burter: āThe audience.ā Jeice: āWeāre doinā commentary, mate.ā
Recoome: āBecause the nameās Recoome. And it rhymes with doom. And youāre gonna be hurtinā, ALLā¦TOOā¦SOON!ā
Recoome: āSilly Vegeta. The only thing Recoome sells, is merchandise!ā
Spokesperson: āSpaceyās. Itās good food. In spaaace.ā
Krillin: āHey, Gohan, look! He picked Vegeta, like aā¦ā Gohan: āLike a Vegetable, yeah.ā
Krillin Owned: And weāre up to 12 with a lovely Recoome Kick.
Krillin: āSeems he threw my nervous system out of whack there. Canāt quite feel the pain. There it is. Owwwwww.ā

Welcome to another episode of B yells about Madlax, EP20! EPISODE TWENTY! I'M FROTHING AT THE MOUTH!
There was a lot and a lot of interesting information and I'll get to that later, but I need to get this off my chest real quick: LIMELDA REALLY DID SAY "I LOVE YOU, MADLAX" AND "I COULD'VE KEPT DANCING WITH HER" ABOUT A GUNFIGHT! I'M SCREECHING INTO MY PLUSH ORCA! (Interesting thing where she said "I'll forgive my own existence when I kill you." More on that later.)
And now that I got this out of my system, uh, okay so the most interesting thing is obviously that a) Madlax killed either her own father or Margaret's father - or they have the same father, either way Madlax killed him because Margaret wanted him to die (and I have a feeling that this might get icky if the world that is visible in that flashback is the world Monday Friday or Friday Monday, I'm getting confused, envisioned when he opened The Door) and b) that Laetitia is a moment, not a person, which makes me wonder if PoupƩe is also a moment or rather a person that got caught up in the moment (we also saw pages of one of the books/the book flying around in his flashback scene). Oh, maybe Laetitia is Margaret's moment caught in time, and PoupƩe is Madlax's moment (which would explain the part in the intro), but I'm not too sure on that.
I also wonder if the unease Nakhl feels is about the probably still missing page from Secondari that should still be with Madlax, who is currently bleeding out?! Because she threw herself in front of Vanessa?!?! (Side note: Am I kind of giggling about Limelda's continued annoyance with Vanessa? Yes. Something something we support women's wrongs.) Oh dear, this is going to go up in flames.
Blond Guy is also once again very creepy with his whole ~Margaret is my angel~ thing, I honestly had to gag. I also wonder if Lady Quanzitta knows what the unease that Nakhl feels is about. Things sure are getting interesting! On a little side note: I have a great fondness for Nakhl's and Madlax's conversation after Nakhl saved Madlax. Staying alive/in existence because of a promise is great (especially when one struggles to act on their internal convictions or whatever Nakhl called it. Especially especially because Madlax seems to think that she doesn't have a reason to stay alive.), I really loved that.

ep14 The Case of the Felon with Frosty Fingers.
of all the things to steal a cow? don't get me wrong i'm sure they're worth quite a bit of money, but they seem a bit tough to steal when stealing stuff like jewellery and electronic devices is a lot simpler. also i remember part of this episode, the walk during which everyone falls asleep, the image of the cattle being married. no idea where the episode is going, but i remember the imagery.
yea, this was an episode i remember well. the classic babysitter episode.
ep15 The Case of the Bogus Banknotes.
random reference to dutch... just weird when it happens to your small country.
oh gods trying to learn french, yea, that stuff's no fun. i wonder what the foreign language was in the dub. french would totally work, many people here do have to learn it and it's not any easier for a dutch person then one from great Britain, but i somehow think it was probably English, more useful language to learn after all. fun fact: dora and diago here thought english.
well that's the first time i thought that the animation looked cheap.
oh this was in the time that phone where beginning to have camera's widespread, but not smartphone yet.
yea i always wonder what happens if people figure out they payed with fake money. like most people did work for that fake money and didn't know they were given it, and if the culprit can't be found who gets the blame and loses?
ep16 The Case of 8 Arms and No Fingerprints.
who THE FUCK steals an octopus?!
god i remember a lot of this episode. i also like that they do give clues for you to figure things out, you need to be quick about it, but it is there. i also love the personalities (Jo) and how things are phrased.
ep17 The Case of the Flowers That Make Your Body Go All Wobbly.
oh i remember this episode. the jealousy episode... i won't like it, will i?
yea, that part of the plane provides no lift, thus not losing the ability to take of, only the ability to fly well.
not as bad an episode as it could have been, but not a plot i enjoy.
ep18 The Case of the Guy Who Looks Very Good For A 2000 Year Old.
that's some impressive lighting. just in general it visually striking at the start.
you are digging with heavy machinery, why worry about a dog. lets rephrase that: YOU ARE DOING AN ARCHEOLOGICAL DIG WITH HEAVY MACHINERY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?
just good standard episode that i don't have a lot to say about (i think i used enough words to describe general episodes already).
ep19 The Case of the Gobbling Goop.
a substance that can seemingly instantly turn metal to rust goop. uhm... that seems pretty useless. why not recycle? unrusting partially rusted metal seems easier then rust goop.
Jo with a crush on... some.. guy. welp, this'll be painful.
so when sneaking around you probably don't want high heels. i don't have any true high heels myself, mine are pretty quiet, but the real ones tend to make a clack with every step, not exactly subtle.
ok, the super rust stuff would fuck up clothes a lot more then that. also pretty sure that the buoyant vests would near completely disassemble.
would you be able to swim all tied up? yes. if you have hands free you can stay afloat, if you can still bend legs you can still kick. it may take skill and may be very hard depending on how heavy the ropes are, but if you're a strong swimmer you'd live. otherwise it would be a brutal death.
the molecular structure of potato salad? no the fuck it isn't. that would have to include the molecular structure of potato dna. that would take you at minimum days if not weeks to write down.
ep20 The Case of the Surfer Dude Who is Truly Rude.
what surfer isn't able to swim in the sea? don't get me wrong, the sea is dangerous as fuck, but as surfer you should know how to stay safe, plus that wasn't dangerous. if you can float (hold your breath and you will) and you'd be fine.
fun (?) fact: the sand that's used in sandcastle competitions isn't from the beach, beach sand is too round and smoothed by the sea, they need to import rougher sand that'll stick to each other better.
"brodo baggins" some lines are just worth repeating. also no the fuck you aren't going under water with a life vest.
on a minor note i've really grown to like characters wearing different outfits in shows like this. strange things you start noticing when you figure out "wait, clothes aren't boring when i'm not forced to wear the ugly fitted ones."
that... doesn't look like it'll keep you particularly stuck. the wood is weak, so you could break more of it off to make the hole larger to get out.
ep21 The Case of the Cactus, The Coot and The Cowboy Boot.
sooo, the bad guy could have just asked "hey, sorry, that cactus was misplaced, could you pick another one please?" and they would never be uncovered.
so i believe there are many different types of spicy. both mustard and chilly peppers are spicy, but able to handle one well doesn't help you with the other. i can take a lot of mustard, but a small amount of chilly can bake it inedible. (i really don't like chilly spicy. mustard also tastes like it's own thing, not just pain, at least in my experience)
now here's a fun question: two ways of solving problems seem extremely obvious to me. greasy fingers revealing the code and learning what was written on a removed page on a notebook from the impression. the question: did this show do something very obvious, or are they very obvious to me as i saw this episode a bunch as a kid?
you know, maybe don't put people who are driving a metal box as many kilometers an hour to sleep, that's probably more dangerous then letting steal some jewels.
ep22 The Case of the Seal Who Gets All Up In Your Face.
oh, is this the episode they've been slightly building up to the last two episodes? it's a first for that.
damn, first time i truly remember a bad guy. i don't remember anything about them, but i remember that face and voice. both of them.
so i'm sure they they had rules they had to follow that the kids were not allowed to go into water in regular clothes but had to be appropriately dressed. but it results in them seeing someone struggle in the ocean, having to put on a wetsuit and then going out to save him. if that happens you take of your shoos and probably jeans (too heavy), dump the clothes you can while on your way to water and jump in.
i truly don't know why i remember these badguys, there's nothing remarkable about them.
"sure he's in handcuffs but so many [celebrities] are these days." that ages horrifyingly well.
ep23 The Case of the Snow, The Glow and The OH-NO!.
i'm always surprised by how much the villains are prepared to kill the kids.
perfectly fine episode, but results in me having little to say. yea sure magic mineral but that's pretty standard at this point.
ep24 The Case of the Fish That Flew The Coop.
you lot call a sluis a lock? the things in rivers or canals to take a ship from one elevation of water to another. i mean not that sluis (as far as i know) means anything but it's a unique thing, i don't know at all what they have to do with a lock. apparently sluice is a different word for it in english. but that sure as fuck seems like they just stole the dutch word, which isn't uncommon for water works.
wouldn't you have a gate handle on on your ship, like it's just a metal pole, seems pretty standard equipment.
it's amazing what i do and don't remember. the winter themed boat? sharp in my mind, the fucking crocodile? complete surprise.
ep25 The Case of the Smashed and Tangled Muesem.
what is people's obsession with the titanic anyways? it was a big fancy ship that sank and was a tragedy, sure, but why care so much about it? bigger tragedies happen all the time and have happened all the time in the past? suggestion: maybe it was a pretty non-political tragedy, though i doubt that too, after all it didn't have proper safety regulations which is why so many people died.
i mean drowning them in such a room? fat chance. water is HEAVY. one of three things would happen. either the water will force the door open, the water would destroy one of the walls, or the floor would give in. seriously people have to be careful with the weight of moderately sized aquariums.
truly amazing that 2100 year old isn't that old for ancient Egyptian stuff. it's hard to appreciate just how old that stuff gets.
so this person just tried to drown her uni friends kid, niece and nephews? and that's just glossed over?
no the fuck she wasn't. if there was one thing Cleopatra was it was learned, vein was just the smear campaign because she sided with one person instead of another.
ep26 The Case of the Golden Medal and the Horse of Steel.
last episode of the show, but i don't expect some grand finaly.
it's a good last episode, not like it's a real finally, could have switched it with ep 3 and nothing would have really changed. but it's a fine enough ending.
also love that when the kids tell the police to arrest someone they just will, it's been established that they know what they're talking about and it's just a hilarious dynamic.
overall the show is good, nothing spectacular, but good without anything jikes, which is always a worry with older shows.
(re)watching Famous 5: on the case
now this is, i believe, a show i saw as a kid when it was on tv. if it is the correct one then i saw it dubbed. this is a show that i have memories from. 4 kids and their dog investigating stuff. if that sounds like scooby doo then you're probably correct. both are stupid old, don't know which on is older though i'm guessing the famous 5 books.
ep 1 The Case Of The Fudgie Fry Pirates
oh fuck yea this is the show i remember. fuck that intro hit like crazy. in part because the audio was too loud. mostly because i remember this song, even if i didn't understand it back in those days. pre good English apparently.
ok, that is NOT the voice i expected. finding some of the dutch dub quickly is harder then i can be bothered to, but i'm guessing the dark haired lady had a lower voice in the dutch dub. this'll take some getting used to. in part also weird as i'm pretty sure i had a massive crush on her. (because cool sporty girl and i've apparently always been an incredibly stereotypical lesbian)
so we have down to earth Jo, rich(?) Eli(?), video and probably tech guy and sports conspiracy guy.
it's the weirdest things that really trigger memories, like the jingle at a scene change. also the aunt is really and i completely forgot her.
vague memories of the enemy, but man do i think it's way better in the origional dub with a strong bri'ish accent (:
"they're pirating movies!!!!" yea... whatever villain would do such a thing?.. me, the answer is me, or at least i watch all this stuff without paying because i don't have an income and the who would be getting my money wouldn't need any more on top of their millions.
little pinset to break out. i was afraid they were going to lock pick the door, but no, it's to take the lock of the door. it would take more time then that, but depending on the door and lock style way more reasonable.
ep2 The Case Of The Plant That Could Eat Your House
rich girl knows how to pick a lock? ...i mean ok i'm trying to learn how to pick a lock but that's not for trying to break out of/into anything. that's just to fuck around with locks... yea no one will believe that will they.
ominous bamboo. i mean yea it can grow stupid quick, but ominous isn't quite what i'd call it. extremely fast growing plant to quickly regrow damaged area... sounds neat, but unless it's easy to overtake for other plants it would just take over.
oh yea the police lady was fun. the fun combo of awesome and delightful.
oh long lost memories: these two snobby kids managed to stick in somewhere. our memory truly is a weird thing. my memory is shit, but i remember so much from this show that wasn't on tv for very long and while i wasn't that big into tv.
only now truly picking up on that they made Jo interracial. as kid you don't notice such things, just that people look different. but it makes people looking different normal which is obviously a really good thing.
the show also has a big part of ladies can be ladies but they can also be badass at the same time. my example will be really showing but think mlp Rarity. yea, girls can love makeup and stuff like that, doesn't stop them from standing up for themselves or being good at sports.
well, that ending made no sense, but about what i'd expect. too many plots do to them all well. also i clearly hear the gesundheit, but i swear i hear something else as well. are they using different versions of bless you after sneezing? if so, neat, if not... why go with the german version? i mean i prefer it as it's just "good health" and means "i wish you good health while acknowledging that you made a loud noise that could even indicate sickness" (just like in dutch) over the english "i speak a magic spell of christianity over you because in the origins of the religion when you sneeze your soul leaves your body and it has to be warded from evil spirits that would take it's place". it's silly when you believe the religion, it's even weirder if you don't. yea, i may start using gesundheit instead in english. less silly that way.
also the dude talking between shows on the English channel this was (i assume) taken from is always so weird. like i know it from the BBC, but i only really know it from after watching gardeners world with my mother which it's linked to in my mind, so having it after a kid show just feels weird.
ep6 The Case Of The Thief Who Drinks From The Toilet
i do appreciate the verities of hobbies they partake in.
"do you have furniture misses X?" "of course." "then i'm afraid you've been robbed." the show has some fun lines like these.
making the vet the villain is a choice. i mean it's not exactly a person a child has to directly deal with. but making the person that chips your pet the villain definitely won't help with the "vaccines are just evil doctors putting microchips in you", though i don't know if morons like them were as vocally around back then. ok, they didn't make the chip bad, which i think was a smart choice, and with that also kept things way more realistic (other then the range trough)
ep7 The Case Of The Hot-Air Ba-Boom!
the weird discomfort of hearing fabric tear and knowing it'll never be repaired. truly yet weirdly sad in my mind. i fear it's just a very me thing trough with a deep fear of permanent damage. if it's not just me please let me know.
damn, the biggest villain discovered trough myriad knowledge.
don't try to hide from a tiger in a tree, they are better climbers then you are.
"i'll send you the bill" "and i will tear it up." still many good lines.
less a fan of the subplot. you can be yourself plots often end up with character becoming a characature of themselves. sure, she's into makeup and stuff, but in other episodes it didn't stop her from being badass, while here they're set opposing one another.
ep8 The Case Of The Stinky Smell
guy asks for hairband. girl does not make comment on how that's not very manly, does make comment on that she doesn't have a good colour for him. you see this i appreciate.
a not very (at all) subtle empower women message while not delving into it as it's not interesting for kids. just "i learn a lot of stuff from you, like being empowered, whatever that is.". just adding it to the things that are normal and good. this show honestly has more too it then i'd expect. guess that's parts of why it stuck so much that i wanted to revisit it compared to many other shows from my childhood.
ok, i think first time the show got me laughing out loud. "remember last year when we painted the barn?" "i was so full of red spots i looked like a spotted leopard" "which is odd as we painted the barn green". just such a beautiful nonsensical conclusion.
ep3 The Case Of The Impolite, Snarly Thing
the show really has the nonsensical humour down. "it's 2 hours by train. or, and i don't know why you'd want to do this, 18 hours by pogo stick." i don't know if it's British humour or just this show but it keeps just cracking me up. "it's been around longer then prince Philip"
seems like the show is going a true scooby doo story with someone pretending to be a monster for selfish gain.
ok, i seriously can't stop laughing. 4 minutes 20 in, if you're good enough at English give it a watch, you won't be disappointed.
bringing up how companies paid with fake money for a second... why? "sweat deal for the company" i mean to me that sounds like something as evil as is appropriate for a town paying you with fake money so you can never leave their town, but i don't know if most kids would be able to get that.
oh gods this is from the time when cell phones were primarily and really just phones. not the (to me at least) weaker computer you always have with you. sometimes it takes media from a bit but not too long ago to remember how fast tech has moved.
"i bet your cellphone can't do that", that being point north. give is a couple years and you don't just have a compass but your position on the worlds map at all time... not sure if it would work underground though.
athletic old lady... neat!
ep4 The Case Of The Sticks And Their Tricks
oh, recurring villain? maybe not and they just look similar with a somewhat similar voice. also poisoning a tree would take long. like lets say it kills it in a day... then it's a dead tree, wood, the stuff we make houses out of. a tree dying means leaves will fall of, but the rest will stay up right for quite some time. ok, actually addressed in the show. it keeps being more realistic then i'm anticipating.
ep5 The Case Of The Plot To Pull The Plug
"on second though i'll be throwing up first" honestly fair
British person threatening more British person for sounding daft, so fun as an outsider... how the fuck did they do this one in the dutch dub? just have the twat speak oldtimy?
pretty good plot too, probably one of the best episodes so far.
ep9 The Case Of The Defective Detective
is it bad when i hear person that goes on adventures then turns those into books that my first reference is daring do from mlpfim?
"if you're going to cross this field you better be able to do it in 7 second, because our bull can do it in 8".
fuck i do still want to try a corset. anyone happen to know where you can buy a nice one?
pretty neat twist, and i do appreciate the diversity. also pretty neat bluff at the end.
ep10 The Case Of Allies Really Very Bad Singing
these episodes really are more "how do they catch them" instead of "who done it", who did it is generally revealed to the viewer a couple minutes in, while the crew tends to figure it out half or 3/4 of the way trough. it's pretty neat. kind of collumbo but always ending with a chase of some sort in which they get pretty inventive.
ah, those times when saying "i stored is all in my usb drive" wasn't insane yet... maybe it isn't insane still if you don't save hours of videos, many video games and thousands of images, i wouldn't know, those are my baseline.
really clever conclusions.
ep11 The Case Of The Medieval Meathead
oh i remember this episode bigtime. i think the mystery wasn't the set up mystery but that it was being solved along the way. i think the person that fake gets murdered did it. really i just remember the dark skinned king. it really is the diversity that truly stuck with me over the years.
medieval-ly talk on a strong British accent with some serious compression. damn now we're getting to the edge of what i can understand.
also Jo stays such a fucking mood. i think she really just was gender envy personified to me.
also got to love the coplady who's very much a woman, but makes sure to also be buff af.
pretty brutal. i mean the villains have been pretty brutal before, but this is drowning. a painful death.
mostly a good episode, really big fan of the diversity especially in this one. also i really need to get myself a witchy outfit one day too. fuck that's the second clothing wish list reminder this show gave.
ep13 The Case Of The Guy Who Makes You Act Like A Chicken
the circus are the badguys? that has some... unfortunate roots.
first time we see Jo's dad's face. i didn't remember the running joke, i didn't remember it ended. also the scheme is pretty fun, but damn does this episode feel the most aged. like the theme has often been that the new person is the culprit, other wise you get cabbot cove where somehow everyone is an eccentric killer yet no one seems to notice the trend, but that it's the circus makes it feel worse.
at least the villain was the most regular white dude out of the lot of them, but still, not the best feeling episode. at least not the one they ended on, that one is
ep12 The Case Of The Messy Mucked Up Masterpiece
oh, brittish show does an american. fun :D
oh, a man pretending to be a woman. this will either be a meh joke or extremely transphobic. it was meh, thank the gods. nevermind. sigh.
ending on a pretty standard good episode with but one not great moment, but it could be a lot worse.
overall rather good show that definitely left quite an impression. maybe give it a watch as the jokes do still really work and are rather outlandish in a very fun way to probably most people.
found this piece of critsism on wikipedia: "and my concern is that modern kids who watch this will think that the Famous Five is all about gadgets and multi-culturalism.", gadgets are not a real thing in the show at all, and the multi-culturalism and Jo are the reasons i at least remember it. them missing from the one famous 5 book i read after this show got me interested is why i never read another one of those books.
also oh shit that wasn't the final episode, i'll have to scour the internet for the other 13. the site i was watching on didn't have the rest. that's also why the order of episodes is fucked a bit.

Hera and Persephone
Episode 119 was very striking to me, in many different ways. Heraās speech/internal monologue in the cold open is quite possibly one of my favorite lines in the series. It gives us so much information on her character weāve never seen before, and itās powerful and tragic.Ā
Thereās a lot to unpack there that I canāt get to in this post, and it makes me even more curious about her past than I already was...But thereās one particular aspect of it I want to unpack, because that little speech made me realize something important about her character I never saw before.Ā
I was already very struck in ep78 by just how sweet and gentle Hera was in the past. (Actually I was struck by the contrast between then and now in ep20). Sheās so badass today, and can even be rather cold at times, itās strange to see her as this sweet and innocent, warm and down to earth girl scared of a little blood. It almost doesnāt seem like sheās the same person.
Itās especially strange when compared with how she interacts with Eros and Artemis later in ep119. Despite knowing how she acts in modern day, I was actually surprised at how she treated them.Ā
Despite being Queen, she treats Persephone with kindness, (a kindness that allows me to see that that sweet girl she once was is still there). Zeus is the main person we see her treating more coldly (with good reason), so I kinda thought she treated most people like Persephone and was surprised at her almost callousness towards Eros and Artemis.Ā
The one thing I was surprised (but not ungrateful) about in her treatment of Persephone is that she is almost obsessed with her vision of Apollo. It made me happy that she is so concerned for Persephone, but I also wondered why the Queen of the gods put so much of her time and energy into this minor goddess and a vision.Ā
But when I was saw these shots of 119...
And they finally made me connect something.Ā
Young Hera...
Reminds me of someone.Ā
And suddenly, when I connected that, a great many things about her made sense to me.
She treats Persephone the way she does, with such kindness, wanting to protect her, she is so reactive to her being hurt by Apollo...because she reminds her of herself.Ā
She sees this sweet, on innocent girl, who loves the Earth, and her mother, and (who would kill for) her friends, but who is lively and full of fire...and she sees herself.Ā
Why, in the end of ep119 she even becomes Persephone, further cementing to me that we are supposed to see the connections between them. Iām guessing sheās the only one with that power, and thatās why they asked her to do it, but I still think the implications are interesting. I wonder if itās possible the reason she was able to pretend to be her is because theyāre similar (or were once).
In the myths Zeus preys on Heraās kindness...and ends up raping her, forcing her to marry him. I donāt know if that happened in LO, (I sincerely hope it went differently)...but if it did, it makes even more sense why sheād be so reactive to Apollo raping her.Ā
Letās not forget (though Iād very much like to)....
I do actually like Zeus in LO, but he does do terrible things at times...and this ^^ is probably my least favorite line from him in the entire series right now. But if itās true he raped Hera like in the myths...the connections are even stronger. Apollo even talks about making Persephone his Olympian...I really hope thatās not how things went down with Zeus and Hera back when...but itās very possible.
Hera is as angry as she is at Apollo because...thatās what happened to her. except this time, she can do something about it. So she is going to (see end of ep120).
She reacts the way she does towards Hades way back in ep20
because she is so scared what happened to her is going to happen to Persephone.
At the time I thought she was just being nice to, and protective of, her, like any older woman should hearing that kind of talk. But itās more than that. I think perhaps those lines could be applicable to her own past self too. Perhaps she was young and impressionable...and didnāt argue with Zeus. (I could see Zeus trying to impress Hera with little trinkets like he does Semele...and maybe if Zeus did make a speech similar to the one Apollo made Persephone...maybe Hera didnāt argue...)
Hera sees this sweet, down to earth girl, who loves the earth, and her mom, and is wild and free...and she doesnāt want her to be torn apart for Olympus. For a god. For a king. For a marriage...Like she was.
They call Persephone āsomething niceā in ep20, and she hates it...because thatās exactly how she was treated.
If Hades is going to be with Persephone, she wants to make sure he isnt going to treat Persephone like Zeus did her.Ā (Notice that she only checks Hades as an acceptable suitor for Persephone until after itās clear heās moved on from her. ...I guess that was a test?? Iām not super familiar with the myths, just a few stories).
It goes without saying that Iām super excited to see what she does to Apollo in the next chapter. But I also am really hoping we get to hear more about their pasts at some point. Why is she his āgolden traitorā? How did she get that scar? There were so many things that intrigued me. And how similar are Hera and Persephone, and Apollo and Zeus really? maybe the past will answer.

did cas really tell dean to kneel before their new god? did that actually happen? i thought him beating the shit out of dean in that alley was the most unrestrainedly horny thing this show had ever done ACTUALLY you know what scratch that new question: top horny moments from the cw's supernatural (2005 - 2020)
getting this ask feels like my sins of the last week have been weighed against the Trials I Have Gone Through since the premier of supernatural on the wb in september of 2005 and Iām not sure if it is a punishment or reward
some notes before we begin:
the ep with deanās male siren was like, conceptually horny but not actually that horny because the dude was uglie. Iām sorry to this man
all you sam girls out there. I respect you but I do not respect jared padalecki who is JUST tall and has zero sex appeal. but those eps where heās like, drinking rubyās blood and then eating her pussy are. you know. Iāll give you that
I am ONLY UP TO SEASON 10 so fair warning this is not comprehensive but the horniness does seem to drop off sharply after the mark of cain is no longer in play lol gotta love a good demon murder tattoo plot
this is easily the most insane thing Iāve ever done, including the destiel manifesto
S1 EP12: the scene where dean gets healed by the faith healer, on his knees with a hand in his hair and looking somewhere between religious ecstasy, brain death and an orgasm. starting this list off great
S1 EP22: azazel possessing john winchester. no I will not explain further if u know u know <3
S3 EP10: dean being taunted by a dream version of himself, this is where we first got the daddyās blunt little instrument line. still burned in my hippocampus a good 13 years later thank yew
S4 EP1: dean crawling out of his own grave covered in grave dirt. hot. the HANDPRINT. HOT. also tangent but this reveal after the s3 finale was WILD back in 2008 I hollered in my dorm room after canvassing for obama. simpler times man
S4 EP 1: casā intro scene. the barn. the shadow wings. the hair??? getting stabbed in the chest by the man you just pulled out of hell. getting aaaallll up in that personal space. his little eyebrow. āyou donāt think you deserve to be saved.ā OUTRAGEOUSLY FLAMING
S4 EP02: āI dragged you out of hell I can throw you back in.ā <<< this angel tops. mark dean down as scared and horny etc
S4 EP16: this ENTIRE EPISODE but specifically the part where dean tortures alastair as some kind of foreplay and then alastair kicks his ass. carved you into a new animal. jesus.
S4 EP16: wait I forgot about the part where cas also gets his ass kicked and looks all....hm. dazed and covered in blood while heās on his knees and about to die. yeah.
S5 EP4: I mean this entire ep is unfairly horny considering everyone is dying of a zombie plague and hasnāt showered in like, 4 years but if I had to pick one hmmm. the dean/dean interrogation scene with the panty kink yeah I know itās not original but hm. it happened. also misha collins just being able to convey that CAS IS A FLEXIBLE SLUT with a single roll of his shoulders. who SAYS this man canāt act!!!!!
S5 EP18: the ALLEY SCENE. DEAN DOESNāT FIGHT BACK. CAS HOLDS HIM UP OFF THE GROUND AND THEN THROWS HIM ACROSS THE ALLEY. WHY DID EVERYONE THINK CAS COULDNāT TOP. you all had brainworms.
S5 EP18: when cas locks dean in the panic room to stop him from saying yes to michael and āwell cas not for nothing but the last person who looked at me like that I got laidā I hate this show. wait I think the blow me cas line is in this episode too what the fuck were they on here
S6 EP5: the scene where dean gets turned into a vampire. between the old dude who I think calls dean a pretty boy (??) and soulless sam....watching??? no ******* but there were just some absolutely foul energies in that scene and I still do not understand WHAT they were thinking
S6 EP20: cas doing a double smite on two demons by slamming them to the ground and then shoving another demon back in its vessel and then smiting him in the same motion. TOP. ENERGY.
S6 EP22: season 6 is possibly casā horniest season because heās like, going through angel puberty after getting his first boner for dean, but the final cas eps are. whoof. cas eats a bunch of souls and proclaims himself to be a new god in order to handle said boner, and then the season ends with cas telling them to bow down and profess their love to him, their new lord, or he will destroy them. note: the way this is framed makes it look like cas is only staring at dean while he says this, even though sam and bobby are also there. the season ends with dramatic zooms on both cas and deanās faces respectively. this made me actively regret ditching this show after s5 lol
S8 EP??: literally EVERY SINGLE PURGATORY FLASHBACK. cas dean and benny are all purgatory hot in the āpop 10 cranberry pills and risk the UTIā kind of way but also. dean being the hot girl bottom between two tops who hate each other. I really. whew. I need to go take a shower.
S8 EP17: if I get canceled for including the crypt scene on this list I blame you bud. but dean on his knees begging a brainwashed cas to stop killing him WAS sexy. how many times has dean been on his knees in this list wait thereās another one coming up next jsldjfsldkjf
S9 EP2: abaddon getting dean on his knees (YEAH) and pulling his hair and praising him for always coming when called HELLO???? the only thing that ruins this is dean says āI canāt tell if weāre gonna fight or make outā because this is the CW and they wonāt let him say fuck
S9 EP6: ah. this entire episode is Emotionally Horny but the horny horny part is when theyāre in the car and dean is telling cas to unbutton his shirt and. watches. I know this was on my destiel manifesto but I need it here too
S9 EP9: cas, covered in blood, slitting another angelās throat and eating his grace after getting tortured. that shot alone made me understand why this website was so goddamn horny for misha collins for nearly a damn decade
S9 EP11: MARK OF CAIN BABEY. cain watching dean beat up a bunch of demons as an audition for taking on the mark, while crowley also is a fucking voyeur to the whole thing. cain is also a hot silver fox with daddy energies. I said what I said
S9 EP 16: dean getting the first blade. heās chained to a pillar and being menaced by a foppish dandy who wants to add him to his ācollectionā (WOW). dean then kills him with the blade and whew. murder is sexy sometimes
S9 EP21: dean being pinned against a wall by abaddonās power, then using the mark of cain to break her hold, calling the first blade to him psychically and then killing her. god the mark of cain is hot
S9 EP23: dean waking up with the demon eyes NUT
S10 EP2: demon dean beating up that dude with the boring backstory and kicking his ass. really was a go on baby I got your flower moment because I hated that dude and I love demon dean
S10 EP3: demon dean being chained up and taunting sam about how his brother is gone, then hunting sam through the bunker. demon dean in general was VERY fun for me, someone who loves trash
S10 EP9: dean going berserk and killing a bunch of pedophile rapists/child abusers. Iām sorry I know this show is trying to preach morality at me about monsters and unnecessary murder and humanity or whatever but we blew past that like 8 SEASONS AGO. also the mark of cain is sexy
S10 EP14: the rest of this list is really gonna be mark of cain stuff isnāt it look Iām here to have fun. cain and deanās fight. cain continuously tossing his mane of hair back and taunting dean with the picture of what heās going to become, who heās going to kill. dean begging cain to tell him that he can stop, and then ultimately killing him. rip daddy.
S11 EP4: again I have not watched this however. every shot of this episode is PRESTIGE TELEVISION because driving a muscle car is sexy. and especially the shot of dean all beat to hell and begging his car to start and giving her a little kiss from his fingers to her dash. ugh. masculinity.
S12 EP10: the bearded salt-and-pepper daddy look returns, only itās an angel this time and heās wearing a vest and shirtsleeves and he swordfights with a hot redheaded lady in a suit and an eyepatch. this show is good sometimes!!! and oh fuck lol I just realized this is the same guy who played krissyās hot hunter dad in s7 probably the first guy whoās hotter as an angel than a hunter. huh.
S12 EP 11: dean riding larry the mechanical bull to ābroomstick cowboy.ā I have no idea where this factors into the ep but I have seen. the youtube clip
S13 EP23: from what I can tell s13 is way more emotionally horny than boner horny, although dean burning casā body was sexy. but the horniest part was dean saying yes to michael and then michael taking over and saying āthanks for the suit.ā we are going to ignore the silliest fight scene in existence as well as the final shot ending on a FREEZE FRAME like a goddamn tiktok
S14: not gonna pick a specific moment because I have not watched yet!!! but michael dean is hot. idk why michael is weirdly hot and I cannot stand any iteration of lucifer on this television programme. it should be the reverse but Iām forever an older sibling stan apparently. someone who is catholic could probably explain this better.
S15 EP13: genevieve padalecki and danneel ackles fight flirting as ruby and anael I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY HELD OUT ON THIS TILL THE LAST SEASON
I know I am missing things but this is already an absolutely incomprehensible screed. I know Iām missing shit from the latter seasons but give me time Iām pacing myself

So thereās a really interesting interview with Deborah Pratt here. If you donāt want to pay for it, Iāll paste what I can below, but a few points first.Ā
Deborah says she doesnāt know where Dean is, and says she misses him. I guess she hasnāt had contact with him since he left for NZ? And with Russ Tamblyn saying Deanās hanging in there in answer to a recent Twitter question, that brings up more questions about his condition.
Deborah claims she came up with the idea of Quantum Leap, which Iāve never seen come up before. Also Don wanted to send Sam home?? I feel like sheās misremembering a lot of details/making herself seem better than she is.
āTheorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanishedā¦ He woke to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his own, and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time tht his next leap will be the leap homeā¦ā
The premise of Quantum Leap succinctly and empathetically explained by a voice that spoke to viewers week to week, setting the scene at the opening of the episode. It is a voice that left an indelible print on the show, from its inception to its finale. This is the voice of its Head Writer. No, not Donald P. Bellisario, but a woman of color who was leaps ahead of her time ā co-executive producer and uncredited co-creator, Deborah M. Pratt.
Deborah wrote or co-wrote 40 episodes of this sci-fi gem and her authorship of the show runs deep through its five seasons. Aside from the opening narration, Deborah is audible as the voice of Admiral Al Calavicciās pocket computer, Ziggy. She also guest stars in the episode āA Portrait for Troianā (S2, Ep11) as a grieving widow who hears the voice of her husband calling her.
Deeper still, Quantum Leap was a family affair. It was co-created with her husband at the time, Bellisario, and their daughter, also named Troian, appears as a little girl in āAnother Motherā (S2, Ep13, who can not only see Al, but also sees Sam as he really is, rather than as her recently divorced mom.
Prior to helming Quantum Leap, Deborah rose through the ranks as an actress, racing the screen in Happy Days, CHiPS, The Dean Martin Show and many more, and was also a writer on shows such as Airwolf and Magnum P.I. She is a five-time Emmy nominee, Golden Globe nominee and winner of countless other awards. She went on to produce CBS comedy cop show, Tequila and Bonetti, and then to co-create and produce the TV series adaptation of Sandra Bullock tech thriller, The Net. But Quantum Leap was Deborahās brainchild ā one which is emblazoned on the hearts of its faithful fans.
Deborah has since moved into directing, including on hit show Greyās Anatomy (2020), but was generous with her time when spoke in late 2020 to leap back into the past.
It does seem that you were really ahead of your time as a female head writer and a showrunner in the ā90s, especially in science fiction TV. Was it hard for you to progress and to get Quantum Leap made?
āUsually women were relegated to comedy, very rarely was it drama or heavy drama. Itās changed, finally, with people like Shonda Rhimes (Greyās Anatomy, Bridgerton, Scandal). But yes, I was a true pioneer, even though I donāt have a ācreated byā credit, it was a āco-created byā show ā with Don. I brought him the original concept, and we were married, and he said āLet me just run with this. I can get it made.ā And to his credit, he understands how to tell a story to the audience. He simplified it in a way that you could welcome Quantum Leap into the world. But it was still a tough show to sell.
āI think we went back three times to pitch it to the network. It was complicated to explain. Brandon Tartikoff [the executive] said āItās a great idea ā Itās like nothing Iāve ever seen on TV. Let me think about it.ā Then he asked us to come back, āI want you to pitch it to me like Iām six years old, then pitch it to me like Iām 80 years oldā and finally he took it. Then even after the show first aired, they decided to introduce that opening where I tell the story. That was created to explain every week to a new viewer what was going on and it worked really well.ā
On rewatch now, the best part of three decades later, the show feels groundbreaking in terms of the subjects you cover. Did you feel like you were pushing the envelope?
āI feel we got to do so much on that show. I remember when I did āBlack on White on Fireā [S3, Ep7], the networks in the South in the United States wouldnāt air it because it was a black/white relationship. Even though there is no scene where you see a black person and a white person being intimate.
You saw Sam, who was white, and the girl who was white, but because he was playing someone who was black, it was an issue. They wouldnāt air the show in the South. This was around 1992.
āIt was challenging for sure. I think we pushed the limits.
āThe beauty of the show too, was that it was about hope, which I see so little of on television today. Everythingās so dark, so mean, so vicious, bloody ā how many people can you kill? How mean can you make your lead characters and antiheroes. I think itās why I didnāt work as much afterwards. A) I was a woman, and B) a black woman. There werenāt any black female executive producers that I knew of in drama. I got to do <em>The Net</em> because it had a female lead, but that was almost ten years after <em>Quantum Leap</em> was created. Any show I brought in that had a black lead was never bought, or a female lead, was never bought.Ā
āI remember I wrote a big action piece ā like an Indiana Jones, but female-driven, feature film ā and pitched it and the studio executive said, āYeah, yeah, but when did the guy come and rescue her?ā And I said, āShe doesnāt ā she rescues him.ā The look on his face. Iāll never forget it as long as I live.ā
The show darted around TV schedules, but the fans remained with it, and still to this day hold it dear to their hearts. Was that palpable at the time, or has that grown since?
āI think near the end of the first season, Harriet Margulies [Production Assistant on the show] found a chat room after an episode where people from across the country talked about it and it became the āwatercooler.ā We were the first television show that had a chat room as a watercooler. Before that, it was literally you going into your office and standing around the watercooler and talking about movies or TV shows you were watching. Suddenly, it was online. So we started to go into the chat room and talk to people about what they liked and what they didnāt. Not necessarily telling them who we were, but that fan base is what kept us on the air because the network didnāt know what to do with us. There was no show like it, so they couldnāt like pair us with anybody.
āIn the five years we were on, I think they moved the show six times and the fans still found it, they followed it, they watched it. Thatās how we knew we had something unique and special. To this day, Iāll go into a meeting with a young executive whoāll go, āI have to tell you, I loved Quantum Leap. I used to watch it with my mom and dadā.ā
Scott Bakula was such a great hero and heartthrob as Dr. Sam. What was he like to work with?
āHe was so approachable, you know, in the sense that he had this great, easy acting style. He took chances and he was likeable ā in a way that he could be a manās man and a womanās man at the same time. Heās really a brilliant actor. I am saddened by the fact that he has not had the opportunity to do movies in the way that could really have lifted his career. Heās had an incredibly successful television career. Heās a good actor. Heās a kind man. Iāve always admired him and felt like when we were working together, I had a friend that I loved to write for because he was always so giving and willing and wanting to take chances as an actor. So it was fun to go down to the trailer and say, āGuess what? Youāre going to be pregnant this weekā.
He does everything in the show from sing and dance to baseball, football, hopping over car bonnets to fights and martial arts. Did you know he had such a wide skill set from the outset, or did you write the challenges for him to rise to?
āI think we had conversations with him about that. I also knew that he had been on Broadway doing musicals. I knew he could sing and dance. When I wrote āSea Brideā [S2, Ep20], I wrote a tango number ā that was unique for him. When Don knew that he could play the guitarā¦ We asked Scott, āWhat do you want to do?ā And he said he wanted to do a musical and I think thatās how the āCatch a Falling Starā episode [S2, Ep10] came about, which involves a performance of āMan of LaManchaā.ā
Admiral Al Calavicci ā heās so much more than wisecracking and surface jokes or flirtation. Thereās so much depth to his character. Was that fleshed out early on with an end to end journey for him in mind, or did his character evolve through the seasons?
āIt was a little bit of both. Dean Stockwell had been on Broadway at five-years-old and had been a major child movie star. I remember when we wrote the show where Sam had the chance to save Al ā āThe Leap B4, Ep1] ā he was so good in that. Iāll never forget how beautiful that was. And then in the very, very end, I love the fact that Sam did change history and Al ended up wih his beautiful wife with five kids.
āI remember once asking Dean, āDo you want us to write more drama for you? Big dramatic moments?ā And he said, āI want you to look at me right now. I want you to tell me what you see.ā And I said, āWell, your performance, the pain, fear and loss and all that, because youāre such an incredible actor.ā And he said āFor me to perform that, I have to be it and live it. So donāt do too many.āĀ
āHe had that depth of acting talent. He is so good ā Dean,Ā wherever you are, I love you. I miss you.ā
The episodes that follow later in the seasons involving celebrities ā Sam as Elvis, Dr. Ruth, or Lee Harvey Oswald, was that kind of a direction that you always foresaw? It feels like a sea change as the show progressed.
āThe stories were designed, for the most part, to be so, so simple in that they were everyday stories. They werenāt change-the-world stories. I think the biggest one was Lee Harvey Oswald, and maybe the one involving Marilyn Monroe ā those were with people that could have had a ripple effect.
āBut there were other little kisses with history in the show, but they were very hard to do. They ran into a child version of Donald Trump in a taxi cab, [āItās A Wonderful Leapā ā S4, Ep18], then they ran into a little boy who is supposed to be Michael Jackson ā Sam teaches him to moonwalk [āCamikazi Kidā ā S1, Ep8]. The first time I did a kiss with history was āStar-Crossedā [S1, Ep3] ā Sam meets up with the woman that left him at the altar and theyāre at the Watergate Hotel. That was fun stuff.ā
Sam managed to awkwardly kiss lots of ladies in that sense of āOh God, theyāre going to kiss me and Iāve got to be this person, what am I supposed to do.ā
āWe never, ever really discussed what happened to Sam. We didnāt want him to be encumbered by a relationship. But I didnāt get to kiss him. My husband wouldnāt leave the set on the episode I was in!ā
Your move into directing ā from your TV drama Cora Unashamed back in 2000, to Greyās Anatomy just last year. Is that something you wanted to do sooner? Were there barriers prohibiting you?
āI was supposed to direct on Quantum Leap four times. Every time it was coming up, something would happen. The only women who directed on the show were two black women ā Debi Allen [Fame, Everybody Hate Chris, Jane the Virgin] and the other was a woman named Anita Addison. They each did two shows.
I said, āIf Iām not doing this, I want black women.ā There were no other black women. And it was a fight. I tried to get black women directors on the show, but I could never get them past.
Then when I went to do The Net, the studio blocked it. I give huge amounts of credit for executive producing to Shonda Rhimes and what she has been able to do. She did what I thought I was going to be able to do. Sheās so talented and Iām such a fan of her and her shows. Iām looking forward to what sheās going to do on Netflix. And it was an honour to do Greyās Anatomy because Iām a fan of the show and Iām really grateful to have that opportunity.ā
Has there been progress in terms of female directors and filmmakers being given opportunities?
āItās very hard for women because there arenāt a lot of women executives at the studios. There are more now. And so there is an evolution thatās happening, but it still feels slow. There were shows run by people I gave opportunities to back in the day, but when I said, āhey, I want to direct on your show,ā the response was, āoh, thereās too much machismo. Thereās too many male hormones around here. Theyāll eat you alive.ā And I went, āno, they wonāt, youāll protect me. How about if I do my job?ā And that was only last year. But there are more opportunities. There are more women making decisions, but we have to do more because womenās stories and womenās voices are more than half the population ā we need to hear those stories. The historic ones as well as the contemporary ones.ā
Is there a leap that was your favourite overall? That you feel made you made your mark with?
āāThe Color of Truthā [S1, Ep7] touched so many people and it opened a dialogue. I remember we got a letter from a teacher who said she brought the VHS in and she played it to her class, up until Jesse [Sam as an ageing black chauffeur in ā50s Deep South] goes and sits down at the counter in the restaurant. Then she stopped it and asked the students what they thought happened next. They thought that he just ordered lunch. And then she played the rest and that hostility and the animosity he endures and the fact that he had to get up and leave really incensed these children. They had never heard of or experienced racism. They didnāt want to believe that it really happened. This is how history gets buried and why television is so powerful and important. It opened a conversation that she could not have necessarily had in her classroom, according to her, had she not brought that show in to share with her students.
āWe had another letter that was very moving, and I want to say it mightāve been āThe Leap Homeā [S2, Ep1-2]. There was a couple who wrote and said they had a child that was on a cancer ward and every Thursday the whole ward would watch Quantum Leap. Their child was dying and they had kind of given up and it was just time to help that child transition out of this world. They watched the show and she said, āWe realized we gave up hope. When we watched the show, we realized we didnāt have to give up hope and we wanted to write to you. Itās now six months later and the crisis has passed. The cancer is in remission. Our child is up and going back to school. And we just want to thank you for reminding us that hope has its own powerā.ā
Its power and poignancy has never diminished. Though the final episode, āMirror Imageā (S5, Ep22), with the caption saying Sam doesnāt get to go home, does leave a sucker punch.
āThat was our last fight. Don was going to send him home. And I said, āYou canāt, you canāt send him home. If you ever, ever, which weāve not ever been able to get Universal to let us do it, want to do a movieā¦ If you want to keep the story going, you have to leave Sam out there in the hearts of people, leaving people thinking he could leap into their livesā. And at first Don said, āNo, no, we need to bring him homeā. And I said, āDo not bring him home. Or you will end the show. If you leave the hope out there, that Sam is out there and he could leap into your life and make a differenceā. You keep the show alive in the hearts and the minds of the fans. And I think I was right.ā
The ending was poetic for me as a viewer, but your point about Sam still being out there ā Is there a leap back to the future for Quantum Leap?
āI started writing a project called <em>Time Child</em> about Sammy Jo Fuller. I actually wrote a trilogy in Season 5 where Sam leapt back three times into the same family and the second time he leapt he ended up in bed with this character and conceived a child. Then the third time he leapt in, he met her at 10 years old ā a girl named Sammy Jo Fuller. So in my vision, Sammy Jo Fuller grows up. I actually have Al say, āSammy is in the future with me. Weāre trying to bring you home.ā That was my set-up way back in 1993, in Season 5, to say someday, Sammy Jo being his daughter might take overā¦.Ā
āThis was the ā90s. Women heroes didnāt exist really ā other than comic books ā Wonder Woman was there, Super Girl was there. But I set it up in the show that Sammy Jo was going to bring him home. Sadly, I have not been able to get Don and the studio to give me the green light for Time Child. It might happen someday.ā
Right now, it feels like we need more shows that offer hope. Is there a place for a reboot on streaming platforms?
āUniversal keep saying they want to bring it back. Theyāre not going to give it up to Netflix because they have [US streaming service] Peacock now and still have NBC. I personally think it should be on a full blown network. The hard part would be that it would have to be recast if there was a female version using my character Sammy Jo Fuller. Or if they just redid the show, it would be interesting in the sense that there was such an innocence about the show. I still believe that there is an audience out there that wants it, that longs for looking at the past through the eyes of somebody in the present. But who would that person be if you did the show now, what are those eyes like?Ā
āWeāre living in the time of COVID and suddenly you go back in time. How do you warn people that this is going to happen? How do you warn people about 9/11? How do you warn people about things in the future?
āI mean, one of the beauties of that innocence too, and I thought that was a great gift from Don to the concept, was that Samās memory as Swiss cheese ā he didnāt remember things and that made it a lot easier, and Al was not allowed to tell him what was happening in the present. Thereās a lot of detail woven into the mythology that allowed it to be innocent and in the moment of time travel. You didnāt have to drag the future back with you.ā
Do you have an actress in mind to play Sammy Jo in a reboot?
āOh my gosh, Jennifer Garner. I always felt she would be a great female Sam. Sheās an āevery woman.ā Sheās funny. She does great drama. When I think of a female Sam or even Sammy Jo, I think Jennifer ā in a heartbeat. Sheās so great in Alias. That show just never stopped. You couldnāt take a breath. If I had to go younger, somebody that would have that kind of believable humour that you think could actually rescue you ā maybe Jennifer Lawrence. Sheās pretty formidable in that sense.ā
āTo bring Quantum Leap back. If theyāre thinking about it, nowās the time to happen. Tell people to write to Universal! Write for the attention of Pearlena Igbokwe ā if anyone can bring it back, she can do it. Write! Write to Pearlena ā sheās the one thatāll make it happen. Thatās how we stayed on the air for five and a half years. Fans unite and write!ā

Iām late to the top 5 ask game (whoops) but I canāt pass up the chance to read your answers about ouat! Top 5 favorite episodes & top 5 favorite ships (which Iām sure youāve been asked too many times but Iām always intrigued!) šš§”š
Not late at all! <33 Tysm Renee, Iām always grateful for any asks but especially OUAT related asks :) <3
Fave Episodes:
1. S1 EP20 āThe Strangerā
YES Iām bias but what does anyone expect at this point. Season 1 was truly peak OUAT and ohhhhhhh this episode....Iāve definitely said this before but the āfixing thingsā scene is just my favourite scene in the entire show. The weight that scene holds...uGH. The angst and emotion in this episode is incredible. That scene with Emma and August in the woods is so emotionally charged. Weāre coming up to the end of the season at this point and everyone is just reaching their limit. August has tried EVERYTHING at this point and none of it has worked out for him. And so when Emma (who is also at breaking point for very different reasons) just...doesnāt believe and doesnāt break the curse. Thatās it. He has nothing left and so he goes to spend his last few days alive with his father. And, despite not knowing that August is his son, Marco still welcomes him with open arms and I wonāt ramble anymore but I just love this episode so much oh my god.
2. S2 EP18 āSelfless, Brave and Trueā
I PROMISE NOT EVERY EP HERE WILL BE AUGUST CENTRIC. Ā But yeah everything in this ep is great minus the awful ending of course. August is so beautifully in character and Iām so happy that we got to see a bit more of his life outside of Storybrooke. The way that this episode showcases both the absolute WORST parts of his character (aka, stealing money from a woman that he thought would die without said money) and the very BEST parts of his character (aka, facing his fears and dying for his trouble)Ā because heās learnt from his mistakes and has grown and changed....oh...i just love it so much.
3. S6 EP12 āMurder Most Foulā
This probably seems like a strange episode...but hear me out. I swear, I spent 6 seasons being indifferent about Davidās character. Donāt get me wrong, I didnāt dislike him (except maybe on my first watch of season 1 because cursed!David is genuinely an idiot and not in an endearing way) but there were just...more interesting characters around him. And then this episode happened. And I feel like we FINALLY got some much needed depth to his character. His speech to Killian at the end is just *chefs kiss*. āWhat if being Prince Charming isnāt enough?ā Ā AIAUGDBUASBYAKSJBN IT WAS JUST SO GOOD. And the OST for that scene just makes it even more emotional. (oh yeah and August is in this ep as well)
4. S4 EP11 āShattered Sightā
Iām putting this episode here for two reasons. 1. Because some of the fight scenes between all of the characters were hilarious (if ridiculous) and I just loved them all. But 2. Emma and Ingrid. Oh my gosh, talk about an underused character. I always thought that the frozen arc in ouat was...a shame. Because, as someone that LOVES frozen and Elsa, it just would have been so much better without it. Thatās not to say that I didnāt enjoy ouat!Elsa (and the other frozen characters) during the season. But the Snow Queen really deserved an arc to herself so they could really flesh her out properly. The fact is that she genuinely loved Emma, and itās just so heartbreaking that those memories of Ingrid and being loved and cared for were stolen from Emma. The scene, at the fairground, when Ingrid tells Emma that sheās filling in the adoption papers for her have made me tear up on multiple watches, Iām ngl. Comedy and heartbreaking emotion are apparently the two things I love most in an episode of OUAT and this has them both.
5. S2 EP4 āLady of the Lakeā
I was initially gonna try and think of an episode from season 3A to put here (because I love season 3A as a whole) but then I remembered this one scene from this episode and I will never be over it. The episode as a whole...I enjoy, yeah. I love that we get to see Lancelot, Ruth and Mulan (because theyāre just some of my fave side characters). But itās the scene at the end when Emma and Snow are left in the nursery together. And just EmmaāsĀ āIām not used to someone putting me first.ā line, followed then by Snowās āWell get used to it.ā <3333
6. S1 EP19 āThe Returnā
Adding a quick number 6 because I just remembered that āThe Returnā exists and I canāt not mention it as well. The way this episode is built up...incredible. And, you know, I really did genuinely feel for Rumple. Idk itās just an episode that when I rewatch ouat Iām like āoooh yes. this is a good ep :)ā
Iāve actually just posted my top 5 ships on my sideblog! So hop over there if youāre curious (or I can link you the post directly if you like?) <3 Thank you again and omg Iām sorry for rambling so much I just...I have a lot of thoughts about OUAT

F@TT SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 20! I AM SO PUMPED TO HEAR THE FRIENDS PLAY KINGDOM AGAIN!!! The Kingdom Game Holiday Special from Counter/Weight was an early standout as one of my favorite things F@tt has done. I loved the mechanics of the game so much, and I remember it was the first thing they really did that was fairly GM-less (though they hacked in a GM) and it really brought out a ton of great stuff. The original Kingdom Game still is among my favorite arcs in all of F@tT and I'm so excited for them to bring it back now. I had already been getting vibes from these two downtime episodes that the groups would be mixing and possibly reorganizing following downtime (it felt very similar to some things that were going on in the post-holiday special stuff for TM when they formed the Notion and 20 episodes is halfway to 40 which is the average length of most seasons so far). That said, I was not expecting this, mostly because I have come to accociate switching systems with a holiday special, and it is not the normal holiday season. Also, season 5 did not have this sort of midpoint and I thought maybe they were moving away from this structure. I'm sure I'll have more to say about it after the next episode and I still have to process everything that happened in ep20 but I am just so beyond excited for episode 21!

Hwayugi Overall Review
Since this is just a review, Iāll try my best not to give spoilers to the ones who didnāt watch it yet. (but that wont really happen.. so just read at you own risk)
STORY WISE:
were you addicted to GOBLIN? did you like GOBLIN? was GOBLIN your type of show/genre? if your answer is all YES then I say my friend, Hwayugi would be your cup of tea.Ā
but if your asking me if they are the same in terms of story? then my answer is āI dont know. I didnt watch Goblin in the first placeāĀ LOL!!
this one I know, they have a common denominator of giving you the feelsā¦.
Kidding aside, if you want something with
Casts that are marvelous/ Great acting then its a āĀ
if it has funny Bromance ā ā
Romance with oozing chemistry of the leads āāā
and its COMEDY? A++Ā
a good story? ha.ha. oooooookā¦ weāll get to thatā¦ā¦
During the first half I had nothing but praises for the story was really good. This is one of the rarest shows that captured me emotionally and physically by the 1st episodeā¦. but then again no drama is perfect, it sure got frustrating as it reaches the climax and the suppose to be climax was a big āWTF! You.must.be.kiddin.me.ā
I was totally ready to forgive ep19 but then ep20 happened.. But yeah we are cool about it now..Ā
Yeah. Yes. We. Are. I guess?Ā
now that Iāve come to that, it think the problem was because Hong sisters tried so hard to make it unpredictable that they didnāt noticed how they were already ruining the story. But then given its their work being rocky in the middle and dragging it out until the end is inevitable. But i tell you, even if it got so screwed up the addiction was still real, so I guess it was still the good eh?
yes of course it was.
CAST:Ā
One word: BRILLIANT
each cast were just too perfect for their role, I had nothing more to say.
LEE SEUNG GI- as great Sage, Equal to the Heavens SON OH GONG is just PERFECTION.Ā
He nailed the character so much that even he was an ass I couldnāt help but love him. Park Bo gum was 1st offered the role but honestly Iām really glad he turned it down tho coz i couldnāt imagine any other actor playing SOG rather than LSG. His features and personality were totally meant for the role, thatās why he became so effective in portraying it. Character wise SOG was really fun, frustrating at times, but swoon worthy at all times. yum yum yum!
OH YEON SEO- as human JIN SEON MI/SAM JANG, the most pitiful character in this drama, literally everyone just kept using her and regarded her like sheās just a thing they could throw anytimeā¦ like everyone were just so cruel to her, and I was in pain seeing that, and the more they do that the more I root for her character.Ā
OYS an actress got a lot of hate in her portrayal, but the more hate she got the more I fell for her too. She pulled the character JSM so well even though she says sheās just about 15% similar to her. Aint she great? Iām still bitter on how her character met her end and I want justice for that!
Ā CHA SEUNG WON- as CEO Woo Hwi Chul/ MA WANG the Demon Bull,Ā
a lot cant stand his over acting here but I greatly appreciated that otherwise, he always paved a way for funny scenes to occur. And his bromance with LSG is just superb, their interactions and bickering were so delightful to watch. Character wise he was scheming, sometimes selfish, but frequently helpful 2nd lead, the fatherly figure of everybody, I just love how he took every demons into his house and loved them. this show should be titledĀ āMAWANG and his peculiar demon childrenā
Other Casts:Ā
all were Daebak I just couldnt help but praise them. All actors gave justice to their characters too, even the minor once became memorable. It just pains me that I didnāt get to see my desired endings for most of them (especially the girls)
for more simpler but accurate descriptions of all characters just check this out
Ā ROMANCE:Ā
ONE OF THE BEST CHEMISTRY IāVE SEEN. 1st episode they already got me.Ā Sweet moments were not disappointing for the kissing scene were sizzling hot (IT was TRUE mehn!) but it was still your typical push-pull kind of love story.Ā But romance wise it was VERY VERY SUFFICIENT.
The only concern I had was they never had thatĀ COMMUNICATION between them. they were never honest to one another thus eventually ended up on them going on their own versions ofĀ ābecause I love you, I will protect you with my lifeā bullcrap instead of just fighting it together.
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
a lot might say that it sucks but I say otherwise.
Yes the CGI was not great and cringed worthy (like whatās up with the ape looking ghost spirits anyway?) but the pan out views, the scenic views, the close up parts, and oohh them reflective shots were the best. i find those meaningful and poetic somehow,Ā Those actually occurred often.and I greatly appreciated it especially that youāve get to see things in a different angle.. notable scene would be this.Ā
yes because I know you like this too (ć„ļæ£ ļæ½ļæ½ļæ£)ć„
and the CG Dragon- the āIT WHO MUST NOT BE NAMEDā.. OOOHH PLEASE DONT GET ME THERE if you donāt want to see a full page rant.
but let me praise it though for it exceeded my expectations.. it wasnāt BAD at all.. it was WORST!!Ā
They only had about a week or two to prepare this so lets give itĀ to them, well at least it turned out cute. VERY Child Friendly.
but overall the shots for the drama were actually pleasing to watch.
OST:Ā
It served its purpose very well. Need I to say more?Ā
All of them brought life and drama to the scene so effectively. It was able to carry out all of emotions needed and I was really carried away by the scene each time the music plays.. and the lyrics were a perfect fit too. Top 2 faves are still When I saw you by Bumkey & if we are destined by BEN.
only question is why is the instrumental music that was played during EP14 backhug confession scene from SOG not included in the full album.. can you share it to me please if you have a copy. Thanks
CONCLUSION: To close this overly dramatic review, as I said on a previous post Iāll rate it 8.8/10.Ā
I would have given it a much higher rating if only ep19-20 didnāt occur. But we are good now, aināt even mad anymoreā¦ā¦ā¦.
But you know what? The only thing that irks me was the way they delivered the ending and solved the issues of the show! First off, WTF did they just do to just kill SM off?!!Ā her death was meaningless, it didnāt even served its purpose!!! Then, the first 60 mins of the last ep was soooo wasted to pure nonsense..This show has aboutĀ 90% potential of having a happy ending since theyāve resolved everything in 19(manner of how it was done was so effed btw) but nooo they decided to focus on a useless illogical Amnesia arcā¦..
ok need to stop because just as I said im pretty cool about it now. Yesssss we areā¦ Arenāt we?
So the golden question is.. Am i hoping for a season 2 or do I want it?Ā
My answer is NO. Why? Because that is near to impossible (wag ka ng umasa bes mas masasaktan ka lng) . No but seriously, Hong Sisters somehow closed it anyway by giving a very plausible input (OG getting SM from Underworld) to the audience that whatever scenario they might think it will still lead to a 100% sureball Happy Ending conclusion..
and plus I donāt want them ruining my already perfect version ofĀ the ending.Ā
P.S.Ā And just to be clearā¦ I am not salty about it anymore. Iāve forgiven them sincerely, so Iām totally cool about everything already.OK?Ā
LOL.NO! NEVER!
#my last post for hwayugi#because i need to move on too yah know#thank you for all those who fangirled with me#it was a fun ride#hwayugi#a korean odyssey#lee seung gi#oh yeon seo#cha seung won

(Europe-Anon) Me @ Allesand: WHAT THE FUCK?! I. Am. SHOOK. Anyway, the new episode was okay, I guess, though I find the animation style more and more lacking. Sadly. But I'm curious to see where this will lead with Cheerios now going to Eibos (Eidos?) I just don't want to see him turn into some kind of martyr because he did some great jazz with Bahamut. Just leave him alone. How many more episodes to go? 4? 6? Mugaro's farewell to Azazel was so bittersweet especially WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE ENDING
snb:vs ep20: in defense of alessand
azazelās face is there bcs i just like his face okay
we have 4 eps left.
Iām a bit conflicted about alessand :ā)
on one hand I canāt condone what he did, but I kinda see why he did what he did.
in early eps, aless says he joins the orlean knights bcs of jeanne, but sheās gone by the time he does join. meaning he joins maybe 5-3 years ago.
back then the onyx soldiers obviously hasnāt been promoted and doesnāt have its current status, meaning orleans knights is still the most prestigious order to join if youāre looking for glory.
aless is naive, and pretty much inexperienced, and obviously comes from nobility. heās also pretty prideful (as shown when he gets angry at kaisar for not doing anything when the onyx soldiers take on the orleans knights status and duty). he may not show it much, but pride and family dignity is still important to him.
he may say he joins the orleans for jeanne, but being part of an elite knights order will sure bring prestige to his family.
bcs of kaisarās link to rag demon, the orleans loses its status
kaisar attacking the king in ep 8 not only puts him in prison, but it also makes the rest of the orleans knights suspect and put shame over them
kaisar running away together with the rag demon in ep15 kinda cements his status as traitor, and srsly at this point, orlean knights is pretty much kinda over.
aless joins to bring prestige to his family, yet all he gets is shame instead.
diaz may know whatās up with kaisar, but diaz never shares this insight with aless. he coddles him, takes care of him, but he never tells him the truth.
after all that, kaisar does apologize and everything in ep18, and aless somehow agrees after punching him, but at what cost?
alessā family name is on the line when he agrees to their little rebellion. yet in the party itself, nina doesnāt care one wit about whatās at stake, be it alessā family or their plan.
nina calls herself alessā fiance to a guy who knows alessā family, and yet without any hint of shame she boldly asks the king for a dance - right in front of her so called fiance and the nobles.
aless tries to remedy that by calling her his sister, only to have said sister embrass herself in front of everybody and the king, before getting involved in a plot to murder the king - right in front of everybody.
they all manage to run away of course, but nina is still alessā sister/fiance for the guests, and it will sure to impact his family later.
when aless is lost, azazel finds him, which is quite a consideration, since it means aless is part of their team.
but then in ep20, everyone is gathering, including sofiel and bacchus, yet none remembers poor aless.
itās understandable for diaz to not be there since heās still pretending to be loyal to the king, but the same canāt be said for aless since he admits to the guests that nina is his fiance/sister, making him part of the murder plot too.
him stabbing mugaro is probably his attempt to restore his family name and denounce his involvement in the murder plot.
aaaaand looking at it this way, I really canāt blame him for what he did.
he puts his family on the line, only for them to forget all about him after the fact.
if anything, Iām more suprised he still gives his loyalty to the king after meeting jeanne, his idol, and knowing the holy child is jeanneās kid.
or maybe thatās exactly bcs of it: jeanneās supposed to be holy saint, so how dare she have a kid and be human like the rest of them? and in cahoot with the rest of the traitors at that.
while I canāt blame aless, I also canāt condone him bcs mugaro. damn it.
and itās kinda useless honestly, even if aless go tell the onyx captain he just killed the holy child, without a body as proof it doesnāt mean anything. without him telling the captain of their hideout, it doesnāt mean anything.
I always thought of aless as a naive crybaby incapable of killing, but damn heās cold at the end there. I guess he really is a knight after all.
also I really think using alessand is smart choice (Even if this feel a bit out of nowhere) and more interesting than chari or his soldiers doing the stabbing.
this way, you really canāt guess where the story would go (well other than the charinina end part that is)
ps:
I just hope with aless running away at the end there, noneās going to think azazel stabbing mugaro, since the last person to be with mugaro is azazel after all.
rita/kaisar may vouch for azazel since they both know about azazel & mugaro, but iām unsure about jeanne (but she does thank him for taking care of mugaro tho, so maybe not), and pretty sure sofiel would blame him.
also iām pretty sure mugaroās not dead, in one of satoās tweet was a pic of rita in her doctor getup after all, so maybe thatās that.
(weāll also *probably* getting a scene where luciferās closing his book in the next ep or maybe the next one after)(Iām still wondering why did the director delete the tweet that contains luciferās legs? is it too spoilery lulz)
other things:
i really canāt care about the king at all
in ep19 (or 18?) fava says they could just cut the kingās arm to steal his bracelet, and yet in this ep he says they canāt take off the bracelet unless they kill the king? so which is it?
iām surprised fava is covering up nina/chari relationship. this isā¦ rather naive (?) of him, unexpectedly. ritaās the one who always saves them all in the end and comes up with the plans, so covering this up might be trouble for them later thoā¦ or is he confident enough to ward off any trouble?
ninaās the lead, so why is the bad ugly things always happening to jeanne and azazel tho?
also I wouldnāt blame either azazel or jeanne if they finally have a breakdown and decide to destroy all things now
the title for next ep is vengeance. itās probably would be about nina trying to exact revenge on chari anyway.

Pokemon Anime - Continuity references in Sun & Moon
Horrible title is horrible.
Ever since Sun & Moon started airing, the fandom seems to have been divided on believing whether or not Sun & Moon is a reboot of the series or not. Well mates, Iāve come to make this post to bring up all the points that point towards continuity, and also try debunking the points that would point for a reboot!
And with that, let us begin! (Since this post is freaking long, Iāll put a cut here.)
Cases that support continuity
1. Ash/Satoshi returns his Kalos pokemon at the start of the show to Oak/Okidoās lab!
Honestly, we donāt know if itās his Kalos pokemon, and the number of 5 pokeballs doesnāt match. If it were his Kalos pokemon, heād have 4 pokeballs since Numelgo/Goodra was left in Kalos. Gekkouga/Greninjaās ball would also possibly not be shown here since it was left in Kalos as well, thou Iād argue that to be only temporary. Although, some people do like to believe that Ash/Satoshi is the kind of trainer thatād keep his pokeballs of released pokemon as sort of a memory, so I guess thatād make sense in this case. However, this isnāt such a great evidence on continuity.
2. Ash/Satoshi mentions his Tauros in EP1!
Straight up reference to his Tauros group that he caught during his Kanto adventures. Sadly itās the banned episode so not every fan might know this. But this is a very strong evidence on continuity.
3. Ash/Satoshi knows Flabebe!
In Sun & Moon EP6, Ash/Satoshi mishears Rotomās word FlĆ”mbe as Flabebe. Flabebe is a Kalos native pokemon, and so far hasnāt appeared in any other region even in games, so this would definitely support the continuity!
4. Sonansu/Wobbuffet exists!
Surely it could be argued that Jessie/Musashi might have got it differently, but its existance is pretty much what supports continuity.Ā IF we go with the reboot theory that suggests Ash/Satoshi only having been to Kantoās few towns. Sonansu/Wobbuffet was got by Jessie/Musashi during the Johto Saga after all.
5. Ash/Satoshi seems to know about Mega Evolutions!
In the latest episode of Sun & Moon, EP33, Lana/Suiren teases Ash/Satoshi by saying that sheās gonna go fish up a Mega Gyarodos (At least itās how I understood the case). Ash/Satoshi doesnāt ask what that is, but instead says he didnāt know you can fish up something like that. (Alas, you canāt, Lana/Suiren trolled him here <3) This would suggest that Ash/Satoshi has indeed been to Kalos, since Mega Evolutions debuted there. Although, it could be argued that Mega Evolutions would exist in Kanto as well in supposed new timeline, but I donāt really see that as a possibility. Then again, itās just me.
6. Ash/Satoshi knows the move Aqua Jet!
Once again in the newest episode of Sun & Moon, EP33, Popplio learns a new move, Aqua Jet. Ash/Satoshi immidiately recognises the move! Aqua Jet is a move that debuted in 4th generation, and from his previously owned pokemon, only Buysel and Oshwatt know this move. Of course it could be argued that some Kanto pokemon heās encountered before might have known this move in new timeline, but again, I donāt find that claim so good. This for me is strong evidence on continuity.
Now, these are the continuity references I could think of right of the pat. Now letās start debunking some cases that people take as a sign of reboot.
Cases that would apparently support reboot
1. Ash/Satoshi acts and sounds more like a child in Sun & Moon than in XY(&Z), it must be a reboot!
This is something I constantly see as an excuse for stating Sun & Moon to be a reboot. Honestly, itās not a very strong excuse and I could give out many reasons for Ash/Satoshi to act like he is in Alola. First, Alolaās a vacation resort, people tend to go there to relax. Second, at the moment the series is very lighthearted and nothing serious has been going on, so thereās no reason for Ash/Satoshi to not live like the 10+ year old kid he is! Kalos on the other hand had lots of serious stuff going on. Although he was sort of a kid there too at times.
This exact same argument was apparently used when Best Wishes! aired as well, and that reboot theory turned out to be bollocks (2nd season was filled with continuity, and apparently so was first episode. I always miss this reference :D)
Also! Even if there hasnāt been that many fights in Sun & Moon at this point, the fights that have been shown to itās fullest have shown that Ash/Satoshi is still very skillful strategist, like he was in XY(&Z). Best examples Iād say at the moment are the trials in Melemele Island.
2. Ash/Satoshi forgot about Nurse Joys being the same again! It must be a reboot!!
Oh boy. This is something I actually understand people using as an excuse, but, Iāve come up with an explanation that can be used to debunk this. Be prepared, this section is long!
First of all, letās take a look at the looks that Nurse Joy has.
Nurse Joy looked the same throughout the journey from Kanto to Sinnoh. Satoshi had no reason to think that Nurse Joy would have different rules in these regions.
In Hoenn, it was May/Haruka who questioned this. (Then Brock/Takeshi goes on telling about the little details that differinate all Joys from each other.)
In Sinnoh it was Dawn/Hikari. However...
Nurse Joy got itās first official redesign in Unova. Itās also where Ash/Satoshi got confused about Nurse Joys again after a long time.
...wait a minute.
WAIT A MINUTE!
HE ACKNOWLEDGED IT! He did in the end realise that the same rule from before applies here too! Wow. Who said he didnāt recognize Nurse Joy ācloneā thing in Best Wishes! in the first place?!
...moving on!
Nurse Joy received yet another redesign in Kalos. Sure, you guys must be thinking that wait, Ash/Satoshi wasnāt questioning this in XY, it was Serena, but just you wait:
Serena may have asked about it but see, Ash/Satoshi wasnāt certain here. I think this was also the first time Ash/Satoshi meets Joy in Kalos so Serena beat him on questioning this.
Now onto the case that is Sun & Moon:
Once again, Nurse Joy received yet another redesign in Alola. (My personal favourite design btw.) She hasnāt appeared much in Sun & Moon, but when the group moved onto the Akala Island in EP31, this happened:
I think that judging from those two previous cases we can say that whenever Ash/Satoshi reaches a new region, and Joy has a new design, he is not, I repeat, not certain that the same rules apply. So, I debunk this evidence for reboot theory as false!
(Iām so sorry this Nurse Joy section is so long. I just had a lot to say for this.)
3. XYZ didnāt end with the usual āNext time, a new beginningā, but instead it said āAnd to our own Wayā. It must mean XYZ ended that timeline and Sun & Moon is a reboot!
I donāt know what to say to this claim. Maybe they just wanted to change the sentence to this one here instead. I donāt see it as a proof for XYZ ending itās timeline in any way thou. I mean come on, they left his goal undone. Thatād be horrible way to end a series. I highly believe in what I just stated before: they just wanted to use another sentence this time.
4. The anniversary episode EP20 didnāt mention any of the past adventures! Reboot!
Hmmmmmm. This is just a lousy evidence. Sorry. The episode focuses on the bond that Ash/Satoshi and Pikachu has and have had since the first day they met in Masara Town. It was also a good episode that showed that they CAN handle themselves with just the two of them.
Also, the series was just beginning at that point, newer viewers wouldnāt know what the heck heās talking about if he had mentioned previous regions or friends. This show focuses on introducing the Alola region and itās people at this point after all. I know how upset people were at this, and I get why, but I also understand from story point why it wasnāt relevantly needed.
And thatās it! This post is already freaking long so I think Iāll stop this here, since I canāt think of anything more at this point. If any of you can think of some more evidence for continuity, or want me to debunk another reboot theory evidence, fire away!
Hope you enjoyed reading this! Smiling Performer, aka Aleira, signing off!

So I watched s2 ep20 of Shadowhunters. and wow. here we are at the finale. I knew it was gonna be pretty intense, and I wasn't disappointed. A lot of things payed off and everything was wrapped up quite nicely. 10/10 that was a lot of fun. (overall, this season gets a solid 8.5/10 for such a vast improvement in both story + overall quality.
(as always, spoilers below the cut + book plot speculation)
First off, it was so so so satisfying seeing Valentine die in that ep. And having Clary kill him too was so excellent. I loved her so much and itās great to see her grow up so much over this season.Ā
I mean, itās sad a lot of it was to with her loss, but Iām so happy to see her become such an excellent shadowhunter and really grow into herself. Itās so great to see. :ā)
Also, I was surprised that they led with Sebastian being not quite dead yet - I thought theyād leave that at maybe the end of the episode, but I like it. The teaser at the end w/ who I presume is Lilith is pretty interesting.Ā
Iām a lot less familiar with the plot of books 4 - 6 (mostly bc Iāve only read them once. I mightāve read city of fallen angels a couple times, but Iām not too sure). Though I do remember a lot of what happened anyway. I was way deep into the book fandom. So itāll be interesting to see this next season going forward.Ā
And speaking of the books can I just say the scene with Jace dying + the cuts back to Alec were fucking excellent and the right kind ofĀ āfuck youā to the books where Alec literally didnāt feel a damn thing.
(and speaking of Alec the reunion with him and Magnus at the end was so lovely and some Pure Gay Loveā¢ shit right there). Ā
Next season tho, I am so keen to see how the Simon stuff plays out too - that was an interesting move and itās not book material so Iām curious to see how thatāll play out and when the mark of cain will come into the story. Maybe during this Seelie stuff.Ā
And the stuff with Molly and Luke too - that was left hanging and Iām curious to see what might happen next with this. Thereās something interesting there and since Molly is an OC Shadowhunters creation sheās a lot more interesting to me bc sheās all tv show.Ā
But yeah, a solid season and Iām so impressed with how much this show has improved overall since the camp as fuck pilot. Itās a good time. Ā
