Assigning a fermentation process to some of my fave drivers because I am bored and stressed about my FCIM exam
Carlos ~ Lactic acid
My fave fermentation process for my fave driver. So simple, so majestic, your beauty it’s like lactic acid’s pH: too high!
For real, we must need buffered solutions to have you (or sunglasses to not be blinded by your sunshine smile).
And you can produce polylatic acid? An environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastics coming from oil? A biodegradable thermoplastic that degrades in 6 months/2 years against the 500/1000 years of traditional plastics?
Carlos, you are too good to be true!
Lando ~ Butanol
My babe, my love, my perfect biofuel that can easily be mixed with current oils up to 32%, easily be introduced in our market and our current engines.
You are amazing, and you can even produce acetone and ethanol at the same time all coming from the same Clostridium acetobutylicum!
The thing that I like the most about you, though, is your detoxification to restore ideal life conditions for organisms during the solventogenic phase.
Only a kind like you can purify himself and produce such useful things at the same time!
Oscar ~ Baker’s yeast
You’re more of a respiration process rather than a fermentation, but that’s alright because if you ask any kid what is an example of fermentation they’ll still say ‘yeast’!
And that’s what I love about you, simple and reliable, the best biocatalyst that one could ask for, Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
You can even produce ethanol in the presence of oxygen with the crabtree effect, show them our multifunctional king! He knows how to do both!
George ~ L-lysine
They’re jealous of you just because you get the most attention, but what can we say? No human or animal cells are able to produce you and yet we need you in our bones (quite literally), George!
This only means you’re one of a kind, and yet you are so hard to understand ugh: metabolic flux analysis + stoichiometric calculation + 13C analysis all to understand that you need a great deal of overexpressing pyruvate dehydrogenase and aspartate kinase.
But it’s alright, you deserve it all to shine!
Alex Albon ~ Ethanol
You can be produced by three different biocatalysts, and yet the most complicated one is also the best, Zymomonas mobilis.
But who cares? Your production is the best, you are one of the rare ones who uses the ED pathway, you’re there quietly in your corner with yields of 97%! WOAH! (Let’s ignore the glycerol and mannitol production uh)
Too high concentrations of you can cause a bit of a ruckus in the production, because you are an amphipathic product, you’re one of the few able to easily get through the bacterial cell and disrupt its equilibrium.
But that’s the way you make us feel when you smile and laugh, Alex! You make us go all crazy for you.
Esteban Ocon ~ Brewer’s yeast
Man, you are absolutely loved by those who actually know you (don’t listen to the others).
Such an interesting fermentation that you are, so many phases, so much growth. It’s a bit of a hustle to get the starch out of the barley grains, but it is all worth it.
To be more precise, I would think you are S. Cerevisiae kind of beer, a good ale beer with your caramel additives and fruity aroma.
The process to obtain you is as long as your height!

Semiconductors: The Driving Force Behind Technological Advancements
The semiconductor industry is a crucial part of our modern society, powering everything from smartphones to supercomputers. The industry is a complex web of global interests, with multiple players vying for dominance.
Taiwan has long been the dominant player in the semiconductor industry, with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) accounting for 54% of the market in 2020. TSMC's dominance is due in part to the company's expertise in semiconductor manufacturing, as well as its strategic location in Taiwan. Taiwan's proximity to China and its well-developed infrastructure make it an ideal location for semiconductor manufacturing.
However, Taiwan's dominance also brings challenges. The company faces strong competition from other semiconductor manufacturers, including those from China and South Korea. In addition, Taiwan's semiconductor industry is heavily dependent on imports, which can make it vulnerable to supply chain disruptions.
China is rapidly expanding its presence in the semiconductor industry, with the government investing heavily in research and development (R&D) and manufacturing. China's semiconductor industry is led by companies such as SMIC and Tsinghua Unigroup, which are rapidly expanding their capacity. However, China's industry still lags behind Taiwan's in terms of expertise and capacity.
South Korea is another major player in the semiconductor industry, with companies like Samsung and SK Hynix owning a significant market share. South Korea's semiconductor industry is known for its expertise in memory chips such as DRAM and NAND flash. However, the industry is heavily dependent on imports, which can make it vulnerable to supply chain disruptions.
The semiconductor industry is experiencing significant trends, including the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), and the increasing demand for 5G technology. These trends are driving semiconductor demand, which is expected to continue to grow in the coming years.
However, the industry also faces major challenges, including a shortage of skilled workers, the increasing complexity of semiconductor manufacturing and the need for more sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
To overcome the challenges facing the industry, it is essential to invest in research and development, increase the availability of skilled workers and develop more sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. By working together, governments, companies and individuals can ensure that the semiconductor industry remains competitive and sustainable, and continues to drive innovation and economic growth in the years to come.

I was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, so this story resonates deeply with me. Way too many of my high school friends died young from heart and lung diseases easily traceable to the crud in the air we all breathed for years.
Excerpt from this story from the Chicago Tribune:
The “Dirty Steel, Dangerous Air” report details the national and local health and economic costs of steel industry pollution. Industrious Labs released the report on Monday.
Industrious Labs is an environmental organization focused on cleaning up industries through network and capacity building, research and analysis, and data-driven campaigns, according to its website.
The 44-page report found that coal-based steelmaking contributes to an estimated $13.2 billion in health costs, 892 premature deaths and almost 100,000 lost school and work days annually, according to a news release from the organization.
“Steel communities have been sounding the alarm on harmful air pollution for years, and this report quantifies just how devastating and far-reaching the consequences are,” Hilary Lewis, steel director at Industrious Labs, said in the news release. “The EPA has consistently failed to safeguard the health of these communities from the dangers of coal-based steelmaking. It’s time for stronger regulations that recognize the opportunity of cleaner steelmaking technologies and tougher enforcement of penalties on polluters to truly protect public health.”
The report focuses on 17 facilities nationwide, including four plants in Northwest Indiana, each of which are owned by U.S. Steel or Cleveland-Cliffs.
In addition to steelmaking, the report looks at the harmful effects of coke, a processed form of coal used in steelmaking.
The steel industry accounts for more than 90% of the market demand for coke, according to the report, which called coke a “very dirty fossil fuel.”
The product is made by mixing coal with oil or water and heating it at 2,000 degrees for many hours. Coke requires dozens of large ovens to be made as well, according to the report.
Industrious Labs’ report also found that most residents in Gary are in the top 10% of U.S. residents most at risk for developing asthma and at risk of low life expectancy.
The city is home to U.S. Steel’s Gary Works facility, which could potentially receive $300 million for its blast furnace if a deal between the company and Nippon Steel is approved.
The $300 million investment will allow for higher steel production and reduced emissions, Gary Mayor Eddie Melton said in a statement. The furnace should have its life extended by up to 20 years.
Some residents, including those who are members of Gary Advocates for Responsible Development, have concerns about the investment.
Carolyn McCrady, member of GARD, said the only way for the steel industry to grow in “a healthy way” is to get rid of blast furnaces. McCrady believes in the use of direct reduction furnaces, which she calls more environmentally and economically friendly.
Direct reduction furnaces could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by half and produce about 20% of steel nationwide, McCrady said.

If you walk into a Whole Foods in Oakland and pick up a container of non-dairy yoghurt marked “local”, you might be surprised to learn that though the company is headquartered nearby in San Francisco, the cashews the yoghurt is made of come from Vietnam, more than 7,500 miles (12,000km) away, or Ivory Coast, about 7,300 miles in the opposite direction. This yoghurt made with ingredients from the other side of the globe points to the contradictory nature of so-called local food today: though the term holds appeal for customers, nearly two-thirds of whom perceive local food to be more environmentally friendly, experts suggest it may not always mean what you think. “Most of it is bullshit,” says Austin, Texas-based Errol Schweizer, who led grocery merchandising for Whole Foods from 2009 to 2016. “Every retailer has a different definition [of “local”]. Even the retailers themselves will have different definitions, depending on where they are, and the original purpose of localization has totally gotten lost.”
[...]
These days, Kennedy adds, local food has “worn out its welcome as a monolithic concept”. That doesn’t mean she’s uninterested in where her food comes from – just that she thinks we’re going to need to ask questions that go beyond how far away our kale was grown to fix the food system. And for Tamm, that means prioritizing local in terms of her produce, but intentionally buying some imports with the intention of supporting “peasant farmers globally”. Kennedy says it’s more useful to think about the bigger picture of where food comes from, including the ecological impacts of how it was grown and other effects on its place of origin. When thinking about how to redesign food systems, there are many other factors to consider: everything from affordability and availability to race, class, government subsidies and international trade agreements – in addition to, yes, how far away it was packaged or grown. In other words, the “local” label at your nearest grocery store may not mean all that much. But maybe rather than seeing that as a reason to throw up your hands, you can take it as an invitation to dive deeper into what it might take to actually build a food system that works for everyone.

Gender - Transformers Headcanon
Disclaimer section:
This is headcanon!
This post is NOT about if bots have reproductive roles.
This post is ALSO NOT about if bots have any physical sex or sex-analogous characteristics. (Separate issue and if they do have such, my head canon would be that they all have the same and/or have ability to change/convert these. If their hand can become a saw or a gun...yanno.)
This is just thoughts about if they have gender in their own culture outside of, or rather in addition to any ideas of gender they find on other worlds.
And no one else has to agree, because it's headcanon stuff.
---
I think they have some.
It's not binary.
It necessarily includes the potential for some bots to determine themselves as agender.
There's a spectrum.
Said spectrum is not necessarily linear. I suspect it's not. But, as of now, I don't know how I would graph it. I don't know if there's quadrants, or a 3x3, or radial axes of traits, or something else.
The concepts very likely have changed over time. I mean that, let's say that in The Age of Primes or in the Age of Origins (or whatever you call that time of warring city-states and warlords) they had 'X' understanding of their own native Cybertronian genders, then in a later Age of Expansion they probably had some new contemporary 'N' understanding of gender and were surprised when elder bots still alive explained how they used to have different reference terms in their youth.
I do think the Quintessons interfered and gave some bots gender issues. Like, assuming they had an Age of Wrath or any Quintesson invasion or occupation on any given Cybertron, I'm headcanoning that the Quintessons (who have their own different system of gender!) tried to impose their own galactic-market-friendly terms onto the bots. There was probably a lot of binary in terms of reference during this time, for Quintesson marketing schemes and also because Quintessons employed a divide-and-conquer strategy that would keep bots fighting each other across artificial lines of division like air and ground, etc.
Bots that lived through any part of the occupation probably underwent gender transitions disproportionate to the population at large, even though transitioning and changing gender is fairly typical, just because more bots of that period were assigned gender or terms.
There's not one thing or trait that tells bots what their gender is. I mean it's not JUST a shape or a color or an alt-mode or a function, or a role or rank they have or even what weapons or tools they prefer.
It's not dependant on any types of attraction the bots may have.
Gender is a gestalt of traits that is interpreted by the bot in the context of their environment and/or society.
So it is possible also to change gender over time. For example, the gender one has or had on Cybertron doesn't have to be the gender that same bot has when they spend time on Earth or Nebulon or Femax, or in Menonia, etc.
Cyclonus has probably had most of the genders at some point.
Some traits that a bot might think about when understanding their gender:
shapes (curvy, angular, blocky, combo, etc.)
frame-type in general
alt-mode
color (possibly applied to spark, aura, deco, etc.)
chosen pursuits or occupation
martial style(s)
somatics, mannerisms, movement
personality
speed of movement
Some social or environmental factors that might influence or 'push' a bot's gender to be recognized and/or to change:
assigned rank
presumed or assigned function
encountered alien systems of gender
system of government
value placed on functions and/or roles
level of freedom of expression
terrain or environment (desert, space, etc.)
social affirmation, acceptance
inclusive or exclusive opportunity
translation loss, miscommunication
Ultimately a bots gender is what they say it is, even if another bot with similar traits in a similar environment would give a different answer.
There are some terms of reference (clarification: including terms used for NB genders) that can relate to gender. What these include can change over time as language does and as understanding of gender within society changes. These could include terms like: mech, femme, gal, bot, robo, robotessa, tessa, -tron, -trix, -ling, -master, he, she, they (singular), they (plural), we, friend, pal, amica, mate (platonic), mate (romantic), partner (platonic), partner (romantic), partner (queer/aro), conjunx, sir, lady, lord, liege, warlord, overlord, baron, governor, king, queen, emperor, empress, commander, general, magnus, magna, master, mistress, prime...etc.
Again, it's not binary, there's nuance. So a bot can be 'he' and prefer 'bot' over 'mech'. A bot, like Shadow Striker, can be 'she' and 'sir'. A bot can be 'she' and a '-master', but some bots might choose to say '-mistress'.
A bot can retain their sense of Cybertronian gender and present a disguise for infiltration purposes that reads as a differing alien gender. But a bot can also assimilate or adopt an alien gender. A bot can be 'he' and present an apparently feminine earthling avatar, or 'she' and project an apparently masculine avatar, or be any given Cybertronian gender and present an avatar with a whimsical collection of traits because "frag your alien gender".
Also, when I'm writing this post in English and saying 'he', for example, I don't mean that bots back on Cybertron were saying 'he' in its specifically English sense of any given time period. I'm working with a canon that already has media translated into various real Earth languages and only so many known made-up Cybertronian terms (and a lot of those are fake greco-latin).
Obviously it should be acceptable to translate everything into other real languages as much as it is to presume that on Cybertron they are pronouncing a bunch of clicks and whirrs and trills and whatever else phonemes robots make.

Boost Your Sales with Enhanced Brand Content: A Guide to Amazon App Marketing
Tumblr media
In the competitive landscape of Amazon App Marketing, standing out from the crowd is essential for success. One of the most effective ways to differentiate your brand and drive sales is through Enhanced Brand Content (EBC). By leveraging the power of EBC, you can create more engaging, informative, and visually appealing product listings that capture the attention of potential customers. This guide will explore how you can boost your sales with Enhanced Brand Content and elevate your Amazon Marketing strategy.
Understanding Enhanced Brand Content
Enhanced Brand Content is a feature available to Amazon sellers, particularly those enrolled in Amazon’s Brand Registry. It allows you to enrich your product listings with additional images, text placements, comparison charts, and other multimedia elements. Unlike standard product descriptions, EBC provides a more dynamic way to showcase your products, highlight their unique features, and communicate your brand’s story.
The primary goal of EBC is to improve the customer experience by offering more detailed information and a more immersive shopping experience. When done correctly, EBC can significantly enhance your product’s appeal, leading to higher conversion rates and increased sales.
1. Creating Visually Engaging Content
One of the key advantages of Enhanced Brand Content is the ability to use high-quality visuals to make your product listings more appealing. Images are often the first thing customers notice, and they play a crucial role in shaping their perceptions of your product.
Invest in professional photography that showcases your product from multiple angles. Include lifestyle images that demonstrate how your product can be used in everyday situations. These images help customers visualize your product in their own lives, increasing the likelihood of a purchase.
In addition to static images, consider incorporating videos into your EBC. Videos can be highly effective in demonstrating product features, usage, and benefits. A well-produced video can engage customers more deeply than images alone, making them more likely to complete a purchase.
2. Crafting Compelling Text
While visuals are essential, the text in your Enhanced Brand Content should not be overlooked. Your text should be concise, informative, and aligned with your brand’s voice. Use this space to highlight the key features and benefits of your product, focusing on how it can solve a problem or meet a specific need for your customers.
Start with a strong headline that grabs attention and clearly communicates the value of your product. Follow this with concise bullet points that outline the most important features. Avoid using overly technical language unless it’s necessary for your target audience; instead, focus on making the information easily digestible.
Additionally, organize your text to improve readability. Break up large blocks of text with subheadings, bullet points, and short paragraphs. This format helps customers quickly find the information they need, enhancing their overall shopping experience.
3. Leveraging Brand Storytelling
Enhanced Brand Content is an excellent opportunity to tell your brand’s story. Customers are more likely to connect with a brand that has a compelling narrative, and EBC allows you to share that story in a more engaging way.
Use the additional space provided by EBC to highlight your brand’s history, values, and mission. Explain what makes your brand unique and why customers should trust your products. This storytelling approach not only builds brand loyalty but also differentiates your products from those of your competitors.
For example, if your brand focuses on sustainability, use EBC to showcase your eco-friendly practices and the steps you take to minimize your environmental impact. This messaging can resonate with customers who prioritize sustainability in their purchasing decisions.
4. Incorporating Customer Testimonials
Customer testimonials are a powerful form of social proof that can enhance your product’s credibility and encourage potential buyers to make a purchase. Including testimonials in your Enhanced Brand Content allows you to highlight positive feedback from satisfied customers, reinforcing the value and quality of your product.
Select testimonials that focus on the key benefits of your product or address common concerns. Display these testimonials prominently within your EBC, and consider including customer photos if available, as this adds an extra layer of authenticity. Testimonials that speak directly to the customer’s experience can be highly persuasive, especially for new customers who may be on the fence about purchasing.
5. Optimizing for SEO
While Enhanced Brand Content itself doesn’t directly influence Amazon’s search rankings, the overall quality and relevance of your product listing do. Optimizing your EBC for SEO is crucial for ensuring that your products are easily discoverable by potential customers.
Incorporate relevant keywords naturally into your product titles, descriptions, and alt text for images. To find out what terms your target audience uses to find products similar to yours, do extensive keyword research. By aligning your content with these keywords, you can improve your product’s visibility in Amazon search results.
6. Regularly Updating Your Content
To keep your Enhanced Brand Content effective, it’s important to regularly review and update it. Consumer preferences and market trends change over time, and your EBC should reflect these shifts.
Based on your analysis, update your content to highlight new product features, address customer feedback, or incorporate fresh visuals. Regularly refreshing your EBC ensures that it remains relevant and continues to engage your audience effectively.
Conclusion
Enhanced Brand Content is a powerful tool in Amazon App Marketing that can significantly boost your sales by improving the customer experience and making your product listings more compelling. By focusing on high-quality visuals, compelling text, brand storytelling, customer testimonials, SEO optimization, and regular updates, you can create EBC that not only attracts but also converts potential customers.
If you’re looking to maximize the impact of your Enhanced Brand Content, consider partnering with a professional Amazon advertising company. Additionally, working with a Digital Marketing services provider can ensure that your branding and messaging are consistent across all online platforms, further enhancing your brand’s visibility and success in the competitive Amazon marketplace.

Proof from tomatoes that biofertilizers increase yields—minus the environmental costs (Anthropocene Magazine)
Excerpt from this story from Anthropocene Magazine:
Using eco-friendly fertilizers instead of synthetic chemicals produces high quality tomato crops with competitive yields, a team of Italian scientists has shown.
Their new study considered two groups of fertilizer alternatives: a nutrient-rich algae-infused concoction; and fertilizers made with symbiotic root microbes like fungi and bacteria that fix nutrients from the soil to increase crops’ uptake. These alternatives, known broadly as ‘biofertillizers’, can be made without the emissions-intensive process required to make conventional synthetic fertilizers, and can significantly reduce crops’ need for these chemical additives in the first place.
The researchers tested their alternatives on tomato fields in Italy, where they subjected growing tomato plants to different combinations of the two: some tomatoes received one of two fertilizers through drip irrigation, containing a mix of growth-promoting fungi or bacteria; some were treated with the algae infusion; and others received a combination of both microbial and algal fertilizers. In each case, the fertilizer-treated crops were compared with tomatoes that had received no fertilizers at all.
Of all the fertilizers, the second microbial mixture containing a combo of root-colonizing fungi and bacteria produced the tallest and bushiest tomatoes, with the largest root mass. The symbiotic root-colonizing behavior of the microbes in this treatment seem to have supported denser, deeper-reaching roots, which can help plants snare more nutrients—and may also help plants to access deeper water sources in times of drought, the researchers say.
The success of that microbial mixture was exceeded only by tomato plants that received it in combination with the algal fertilizer, which was applied to plants as a growth-promoting spray, rich in amino acids, and vitamins. In those tomatoes plants, not only did this combo exceed all growth parameters, but it also produced striking yields: these double-treated crops generated 67.2 tons of tomatoes per hectare, compared to the 30.3 tons per hectare produced when researchers applied the microbial fertilizer on its own—and almost threefold more than the 26 tons per hectare from tomato plots that received no fertilizers at all.
What’s more, the combination of microbial and algal fertilizers also produced the highest number of marketable fruits, with fewer green and rotten fruits than in those plants that received just one fertilizer treatment or none, the researchers found. Interestingly, they noticed that microbial fertilizers led to larger and sweeter tomatoes, while the algal fertilizers were associated with redder fruits. “We were fascinated by the idea that an environmentally-friendly approach like this could produce such strong results,” the scientists say.

Solar Water Heaters vs. Electric Water Heaters: A Comprehensive Cost Savings Analysis
When considering options for heating water in your home, solar water heaters and traditional electric water heaters present distinct advantages and disadvantages, particularly in terms of cost savings. This detailed comparison will explore various aspects of both systems, helping you make an informed decision.
Initial Investment
The initial investment for a solar water heater is generally higher than that of an electric water heater. Solar systems typically range from ₹18,000 to ₹60,000 or more, depending on factors such as capacity, type, and additional features. While this upfront cost may seem daunting, it’s essential to consider the long-term benefits and savings.
In contrast, electric water heaters usually have a lower initial price point, with basic models starting around ₹6,000. This affordability makes them an attractive option for many homeowners looking for immediate solutions without a significant financial commitment.
Overview of Jupiter Solar Water Heaters
Jupiter Solar is a prominent brand in the solar water heater market, particularly known for its efficient and sustainable solutions. Their products harness solar energy to provide hot water, making them an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional electric water heaters. Below is a detailed overview of the features, benefits, and types of solar water heaters offered by Jupiter Solar.
Call +91 9364896193,     +91 9364896194 to order solar heaters

Tumblr media
Energy Expenses
One of the most significant advantages of solar water heaters is their reliance on renewable solar energy. This means that once installed, the cost of heating water can be drastically reduced, as sunlight is free and abundant. Homeowners can expect to save anywhere from 50% to 80% on their monthly water heating bills. This substantial reduction in energy costs can lead to significant savings over time.
On the other hand, electric water heaters depend on grid electricity, which can fluctuate in price due to various factors, including demand and fuel costs. As electricity prices rise, the operating expenses associated with electric water heaters can become a considerable burden on household budgets.
Return on Investment
The payback period for solar water heaters is often favorable, typically ranging from three to five years. After this period, homeowners can enjoy nearly free hot water for the lifespan of the system, which can last for 15 years or more with proper maintenance. This long-term financial benefit makes solar water heaters an appealing investment for those looking to reduce their overall energy costs.
In contrast, electric water heaters do not provide the same level of long-term savings. While they may be cheaper to install initially, the ongoing energy costs can accumulate quickly, leading to higher overall expenses over time.
Environmental Considerations
Solar water heaters are an environmentally friendly choice, harnessing the power of the sun to heat water without emitting greenhouse gases. This renewable energy source contributes to a reduction in your carbon footprint, making it an excellent option for eco-conscious consumers.
Electric water heaters, however, often rely on electricity generated from fossil fuels, which can contribute to pollution and climate change. By choosing a solar water heater, homeowners can play a part in promoting sustainability and reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
Maintenance Requirements
In terms of maintenance, solar water heaters generally have lower upkeep costs. With fewer moving parts and a simple design, these systems require minimal maintenance to operate efficiently. Regular checks and occasional cleaning of the solar panels are typically sufficient to ensure optimal performance.
Electric water heaters, however, may require more frequent maintenance and repairs, particularly as they age. This can lead to additional costs that can diminish the overall savings associated with using electric systems.
Conclusion
In summary, while solar water heaters necessitate a higher initial investment, they offer substantial long-term cost savings, environmental benefits, and lower maintenance requirements compared to traditional electric water heaters. The decision between these two options ultimately depends on your financial situation, energy needs, and commitment to sustainability. By carefully weighing these factors, you can select the water heating solution that best aligns with your values and goals.
