My one club in the tournament Atletico Madrid have red bull salzburg.. a tough match. It is clear from round 7, that salzburg will go for it, so the rotation need to be up for it.

Monaco face Inter Milan - Inter Milan will want to end in the first quadrant so this is a vital match for the youth in the squad or the monaco squad itself. The experience, the possibilities. They are guaranteed the playoffs so go for it. The media ranks Inter Milan higher but the truth is Monaco is a youth team, they lack the experience so it is uncertain how they will play. But I think an even match.

Lille face Feyenoord- A battle, another battle, Lille have no reason to not go for it. It will be a great experience , again, a test to Lille, One against an opponent not rated higher than them. But it will be an even match for me.

Brest face Real Madrid- Brest are a battling team but Real Madrid has the most weapons of a team in the tournament, and Ancelotti is finding the balance with the squad and will not disrespect Brest. Brest must be ready to fight.

PSG vs Stuttgart- Stuttgart will battle for their lives. PSG have young weapons who are growing, and thank you Luis Enrique for explaining to pundits that PSG in the galactique era can't be compared to psg in the , what i call, coequipe era. The issue with PSG is they can't defend, they came back but they came back because their defense is weak, run and gun costs you and psg must win, if both psg + stuttgart draw and mcfc win, mcfc is through.

Interview: Zuloark

Weltraum, a radio podcast about space on the jabbering Independent Coastal Radio NOR we hosted Juan Chacón, an architect, researcher and educator. He is the co-founder of the collective Zuloark (2001), which enables the open-source distribution of architectural and urban planning knowledge, a co-founder of the cooperative Zoohaus (2007) and part of the open-source network Inteligencias Colectivas (2010).

Since 2009, Juan has been researching community development models in Berlin. With Christina Serifi (Digital Architectuul Fellow 2020), he co-founded the Tirilab initiative, which explores intercultural heritage related to local technologies, gastronomy and cultural specialties of rural communities in northern Greece.

Juan taught as a member of zuloark and researcher at UDK in Berlin, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Technische Universität in Berlin and San Jorge University in Zaragoza. His work with zuloark and zoohaus has been exhibited in the MoMA in New York, the Akademie der Kunste in Berlin, the Lisbon Architecture Triennial and the Matadero Museum in Madrid, among others.

Zuloark is an open office for architecture and urbanism. You co-founded it in Madrid in 2001 and in 2010 expanded its headquarters to La Coruña, Berlin, Bologna, Athens and La Palma. What does open office mean?

Juan Chacón: For Zuloark the word open office is not really well defined.  Since our principle is based on belonging to the collective,  It means that the environment or the name is open to everyone for participation. Also the word open reflects open source, that’s why we use it to define ourselves. Of course, there are so many voices in the collective and each one is defined in a different way.

What is its approach?

JC: First of all we will need to define what it means architecture. We can understand architecture as a built environment but you can understand architecture as a place where education happens and then spaces are created in different ways. The practice of architecture can unfold in different ways.

In Zuloark we don’t close a definition of one type of architecture but we try to engage with architecture in different layers and ways. Therefore we develop projects in different scales, we engage different communities and agents, we are trying to involve different parts in our practices, all this to create better places in a more participatory way that engages more people in the design of it. 

In all these countries that I’ve mentioned? 

JC: In 2001 we founded Zuloark and in 2010 we expanded. We founded it while we were students and between 2008 and 2010, after finishing our studies, we started to professionalize the structure. In that period members started to move around Europe and elsewhere, so we found a way to adapt to its members. When a member moves in a city also the office moves there and starts to activate different networks.

In a way you also have an open structure of work?

JC: In the last ten years we have been trying to develop governance, forecasting and evaluation  systems and tools. We try to be strict in the way we organize, to benefit the participants and  projects that are common to everyone. This creates the independence of work with some guidelines and fixed points towards the collective in order that we can be all coordinated. This methodology intends to create a structure that allows flexibility but at the same time allows the collective to work as a network not as independent units.

Zuloark involves tactical urbanism, participation, festivals and construction workshops in a DIY way. How do you involve users in architecture?

JC: We never use the word user. It doesn’t exist in our vocabulary. We always involve the group of people or community in the process of final design. We share the methodology of how we can build the place together. When we design for example a public square, we don’t think about how we will work with the users. We are going to be part of this square and of the group of people creating the place by itself. 

You co-founded the cooperative Zoohaus, which initiated the international practical research Collective Intelligences; what is the field of this research?

JC: Zoohaus is a wider network than Zuloark. It is a network launched in 2010 that tries to rephrase what we are doing. It was constituted in Madrid as a cultural association that engaged in cultural projects related to the public space. The idea is to engage and collaborate with networks all around the world based on intelligent design. We started to create a catalog where anybody can upload and contribute to its database their solutions. It is not organized by institutions but is coming from communities or individuals.

Zuloark has had an active involvement in academic contexts, teaching in Madrid, Berlin and Monterrey. What is based on your educational practice?  

JC: ...is based on ourselves. The most important educational process for Zuloark is Zuloark itself. We consider a collective as a kind of learning environment. We were always talking about the Vygotsky’s Zone of proximal development, a concept that explains how you can learn things by helping each other and creating environments of professional learning, where you can always engage with new skills. This is the core of Zuloark. The second thing started with educational models in collaboration with universities in a more punctual way, proposing workshops or formats that can take education out of the universities itself. Some of us engaged in a more formal way inside universities with an approach of situated knowledge, always learning about a specific case going out of the theoretical level and trying to create hands-on spaces.

How do you manage to fund your projects?

JC: The funding is very diverse, fifty percent are public coming from cultural institutions through grants and open calls, also applying for European funding. These funds are for self initiated projects. Other part is based on private commissions for clients, which want to be involved in participatory projects.   

Your collaborations include different collectives; how do you choose them and develop the working process?

JC: There are many levels, one of them is based on a daily basis collaboration where people have a regular income, then is a network of collaborators that have some collaborations during a year in some project and we define them as individual agents. We create a lot of partnerships with other entities to learn from. All collaborations are developing during a period of time so we can create some kind of trust among each other.

Oggi Te Amarè torna con il suo remix, affidato a uno dei dj più popolari, Get Far Fargetta;  "ho lanciato Te Amarè l'anno scorso e nonostante il momento particolare e il Covid, la canzone è andata molto bene!"-dice Mendes-"abbiamo anche avuto più di 700.000 views, prima in classifica tra gli artisti indipendenti in una sola settimana, ma non è stata sfruttata adeguatamente e ho pensato a un remix per creare un mood diverso, piu' allegro.Stiamo uscendo da una situazione difficile, e mi sono detto perché non riprendere la canzone che non ha dato il 100% di sé, e creare un mood felice in cui le persone si possano sentire allegre, con la voglia di uscire, ridere, ballare, riprendere a vivere normalmente!"

Perché hai scelto proprio Mario Fargetta per il remix?

"Volevo un dj emblematico con cui ho tanti ricordi e ho pensato a lui perché in Italia e fuori dall'Italia è uno dei piu' riconosciuti. Mi sono rivolto a lui, gli ho fatto sentire la canzone per capire se fosse interessato, sono stato contento vedendo che gli piaceva e che voleva fare il remix. Per me non è solo importante lavorare con un artista rinomato, ma anche con una persona e un professionista che mette passione in ciò che fa e ho capito che lui lo avrebbe fatto proprio con questo spirito" "Sentivo che in questo brano c'era qualcosa di positivo"-aggiunge Mario Fargetta-"è un simbolo di aggregazione e coinvolgimento; poi ho continuato a dare questo taglio latino che aveva già in originale, e ho cercato un drop originale che è piaciuto, con una cassa più rilevante. Il brano, in questo modo, è diventato molto ballabile. Tutti i brani possono diventare grandi hit, poi, pero', decide sempre il pubblico!".

Abbiamo incontrato Gianni Mendes Toniutti, che per l'estate ha cantato e suonato  "Te Amarè, un brano perfetto per muoversi a tempo in modo spensierato. Gianni Mendes Toniutti non è solo un artista. Lavora con grande successo nel settore legale tra Italia e il mondo… e da sempre vive di musica. E' riuscito a trasformare il suo sogno in realtà e ha interpretato un canzone perfetta per l'estate 2020, un momento in cui tutti abbiamo bisogno di spensieratezza. E' "Te Amarè", ispirata ai ritmi latini e brasiliani, è un mix perfetto di canto, danza e chitarra. Il brano viaggia nello spirito dei ritmi da lui amati da sempre, sin dall'età di 10 anni. Fin da quell'età suona la chitarra. Suo padre era infatti uno strumentista appassionato e da casa sua passavano spesso artisti come  Sabicas, Andres Segovia e Felix de Utrera, che hanno fatto crescere in lui un grande amore per la musica.

In tv a "Le Iene" per raccontare una disavventura avuta con chi gli aveva promesso, sta comunque crescendo anche sui social, diventando un personaggio e un riferimento per chi ama mondanità e divertimento. Cresciuto a Bologna, madre brasiliana e padre italiano, nato in Brasile, si è laureato proprio a Bologna in diritto internazionale. Chi lo segue sui social sa che ama la bella vita e i viaggi... ma tutto questo per lui è anche o soprattutto lavoro: negli Stati Uniti è un avvocato molto noto, specializzato nel campo dell'immigrazione e tra i suoi clienti ci sono tanti personaggi di musica, sport, moda (...). E' anche decisamente attivo nel creare mode e tendenze. Una volta è entrato da Zara, a New York e ha fatto finta di essere un manichino umano: su Instagram ha totalizzato ben 260.000 visualizzazioni... e molti hanno scambiato la sua performance per una pubblicità di Zara.

Te Amarè si prepara ad essere il tormentone dell'estate 2020, sarà capace di risollevare l'umore di tutti?

"Questa è la mia maggiore speranza! Quando ho prodotto questa canzone con Tim Mitchell, il produttore di Shakira, il nostro obiettivo è stato fare una canzone che fosse la più esplosiva possibile.  Molto ritmo, allegria, e voglia di vivere sono gli elementi principali di Te Amaré.  È proprio ciò di cui abbiamo tutti bisogno dopo questi primi 7 mesi del 2020 che, diciamoci la verità, sono stati per tutti molto ma molto pesanti!"

Quali sono le caratteristiche del sound latino e perché piace così tanto?

"Il sound latino ha un ritmo straordinario, che ti trascina e ti fa ballare nel momento stesso in cui parte il primo colpo di cassa.  Le percussioni, la maniera in cui viene portata la batteria, è inconfondibile.  Non si pensi però che solo i Latini possano avere nel sangue questo ritmo contagiante. Nel singolo Te Amaré, incredibilmente, il batterista è un americano, Lee Levin.  Lee è famosissimo in America per essere stato il batterista di alcuni degli artisti latini più famosi al mondo, tra cui Christina Aguilera, Alejandro Sanz, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Eros Ramazzotti, e Shakira. L'importante, non è da dove vieni, ma che cosa senti dentro! "

Quale è stato il tuo impegno per realizzare singolo e video?

"È stato un impegno a 360 gradi.  Nel pezzo, ho registrato tutte le chitarre, la voce principale, le voci secondarie…ho poi anche partecipato alla produzione insieme a Tim Mitchell, anche se sotto quell'aspetto ho lasciato fare più a lui, che in materia di produzioni di successo ha una esperienza pazzesca, avendo vinto diversi Grammy con Shakira.  In una produzione, è importantissimo affidarsi a persone di cui ti fidi e hai stima, perché la loro opinione, a un certo punto, è più importante della tua. La persona esterna sentirà una canzone sempre in una maniera diversa da quella che l'ha composta.  E siccome, alla fine, la tua canzone deve piacere anche (e soprattutto) agli altri, è bene affidarsi a professionisti di livello affinché possano tirar fuori dalla tua canzone il meglio di essa".

Sappiamo che per la creazione di testo e video ti sei affidato a grandi esperti del settore, quale è stato il percorso?

"Per quanto riguarda il video, ho avuto un team di ragazzi che è venuto appositamente dall'Italia.  Hanno fatto un lavoro eccezionale, che credo non sarebbe stato facile replicare neanche qua in America, il paese dei videoclip musicali.  A livello musicale, come ti dicevo poc'anzi, hanno partecipato artisti di grande prestigio.  Oltre a Lee Levin, ha partecipato Guillermo Vadala (bassista di Alejandro Sanz, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Chayanne, e Laura Pausini) e Gilmar Gomes (percussionista di Jovannotti e Enrique Iglesias).  Testo e musica è tutto frutto mio!"
