MARCO FEDALTO – Album “Il Cinema Suonato”
MARCO FEDALTO – Album “Il Cinema Suonato” Cinema must be listened to… not just watched! Label Plaza Mayor Company Ltd Since its inception, cinema has attained artistic worth 80% of the time (if not even 90%) due to its music. This is because the visual aspect is, first of all, narrated by the musical notes which have always expressed the “unsaid” underlying the images. Therefore, cinema…

50 best film scores of all time A Tolerance project blog
Introduction
Hello there Ben Brown here and welcome to another mini blog again this one is based on an article by the Classic FM website this time looking at the 50 greatest film scores of all time we won’t be commenting on every score on the list just a select few that featured in our Soundtrack for the Tolerance film so if you want to read the full list click here The 50 best film scores of all time - Classic FM
James Bond theme by Monty Norman
The earliest entry on the classic FM list at number 47 never-mind its still a cracking piece of music and it appears in the first 3 minutes of the Tolerance film. As Robert played by David Smith speeds round the Kitchen to make his breakfast Finishing with a cup of tea to highlight his independence.
He Lives in a house by himself where as Claire his girlfriend lives with her family where she feels somewhat over protected and longs to get away.
Here is what classic FM had to say
The most famous guitar riff in cinema has featured in every official Bond film since Dr. No (1962), when it accompanied the opening title. It appeared again over the opening credits for From Russia with Love, and from then on became as integral to the James Bond universe as corny one-liners and gadgets. The guitar riff heard in the original recording of the theme was played by Vic Flick, who was paid a one-off fee of £6 for recording the tune.
Jaws Theme by John Williams
Next in the list is Jaws at number 38 so good we used it twice and to a good affect once to heighten the drama in the Tolerance story when our hero in the story nearly got run over and again when introduced the villain in our story Mr Grosenberg.
Here is what classic FM had to say
One of the most iconic pieces of film music, the two-note shark motif that made going in the sea terrifying almost becomes a character in its own right. Rarely has a piece of film music so perfectly captured a film’s atmosphere. When Williams first played the two notes to Spielberg on a piano, the director initially laughed, thinking it was a joke. Williams described the theme, performed on the tuba, as “grinding away at you, just as a shark would do, instinctual, relentless, unstoppable”.
The Good the Bad and the ugly by Ennio Morriconne
We are entering the top 10 now so at number we have the theme from the Good the Bad and the ugly which was used to great effect in the Tolerance film to not only spoof a classic western but to also highligh the serious issue of disabled badge abuse at the same time
Here is what classic FM had to say
Italian master, Morricone, certainly created one of the most iconic pieces of film music with his main theme, and the rest of the score to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly comes complete with all the classic Morricone traits – including whistling, yodelling and gunfire.
Star Wars Theme by John Williams
And finally the last peice of film music to appear in the Classic FM list is the Star Wars theme by John Williams and the only composer to have two pieces of music in the Tolerance we used it to open the film up along with a classic Star Wars Dialoge crawl which told what the Tolerance film was all about we also used it to introduce the hero of our story Robert played by David Smith
Here is what classic FM had to say
In 1977, Star Wars caused a revolution; Williams brought a new hope to movie soundtracks, reviving the golden age of grand symphonic scores. He’s since composed for most of the Star Wars movies and most recently worked on ‘Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker’. From the brass blasts of ‘Imperial March’ to Princess Leia’s theme, every one of Williams’s motifs is pure class.

After cutting his teeth on a few sword and sandal epics director Sergio Leone turned his skills to the western with A Fistful of Dollars. Adapting Akira Kurosawa’s film Yojimbo (which itself was an adaptation of two Dashiell Hammett novels (Red Harvest and The Glass Key) about a drifter who stumbles into a small town with two warring factions and sets them against each other, Leone turned Clint Eastwood into a movie star, put the music of Ennio Morricone onto the world stage and invented the Spaghetti Western.
The setting is moved to a small Mexican town and pistols take the place of swords but the story is more or less the same. It isn’t nearly as good as Yojimbo (or I’d argue The Glass Key from 1942 with Veronica Lake) but it’s got plenty of style and its loads of fun.
Over the next few years Leone would make two more films with Eastwood and Morriconne finishing out what is now known as The Dollars trilogy. I like those films quite a bit more, but they are all worth watching and this is a pretty cool start.

Yojimbo.
I love yojimbo, I think kurosawa understand more the importance of rythm in this movie. The difference between the prestation of Mifune in seven samouraï and in yojimbo, show that this actor can take very différent roles and succed easely, and make it for me the best japanesse actor, an even one of the best in the world. (I prefere the character of mifune in seven samourai, but the prestation on yojimbo is reallllly good, i also recommand you to see rashomon )
The Music of sato is just....... you know probably that A Fistful Of Dollards is a remake (plagia for certain people) of Yojimbo, and in Fistful, the music is compose by ennio morricone. But I was never thinking that i would prefere Masaru Sato, than morricone (knowing that morriconne is my favorite music films composeur).
The composition (of shot) is grandiose, that plan between the two clan fighting and mifune laughing at the top, is very cool. The scene when mifune reenter the village to take down the samurai, with juste mifune in the frame walking slowly to the camera is even cooler ! You know where sergio leone take all his influance.
(the plan with the hanging man, who stay in the frame while the camera is moving and the people running around, is I think, my fovorite shot of kurosawa carrier)
I think the plot is a little less clear that it was in seven samouraï, but it’s ok you know, nobody can be perfect (execpt my english writting who is absolutely perfect ! all because I’m french....
No ? ok...)
definitly recomand Yojimbo.

Stark collaborates with rising soul singer Kestra on new single "Trumpets"
Formerly producing under the moniker Boston Building, the East London creative now designs, produces and writes as Stark. Releasing his debut track under this pseudonym, "Trumpets" is a dark slice of orchestral pop from the talented young producer. Collaborating with rising soul singer Kestra, the single is built on layers of orchestral percussion and flecked with bold, brassy tones. Including a number of film score elements into the tracks experimental structure, the narrative plays out in grand, cinematic detail as drums crash and strings soar in the background. “I knew I wanted to include lots of film score elements in this track" Stark explains. "I think it came out with a bit of a regal, almost war-like feel in the end. Brass is a really good texture for that. Of course, I'm lucky to be working with some of the most exciting new vocalists in London. Kestra definitely added an extra spoonful of drama into the mix." Drawing inspiration from artists such as Mark Ronson, Scott Walker, Ennio Morriconne and Lana Del Ray, Stark's array of influences allow the producer to curate a rich tapestry of unique sounds and textures. Tune in below. Read the full article

blog post 5
hello again.
I’m still deciding how I’m going to be structuring these blog posts. Right now I’m leaning towards not really structuring them at all and just having them be about whatever they’re about. I’ve been listening again to Ennio Morriconne’s score to “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”, and I’m once again reminded of how good it is. There are so many moments in this score and pieces to its puzzle that I love. I love the sound of the gritty electric guitar, the shuffling drum beats that move the track forward like a locomotive, the vocals that cry out and wail in the background, and the brass ensemble and orchestral swells which add a greater sense of scope and presence to the pieces, just to name a few. The sound is so engrained in our minds as being just classically western. Cowboys. Saloons. The whole thing. These songs have been parodied countless of times in movies and cartoons whenever a Wild West scenario presents itself. The movie itself is remarkably shot and features some incredible performances. The “Ecstasy of Gold” scene may be my favorite scene in any movie ever. The music and the visuals just work so well together. It’s a phenomenal film with a phenomenal accompanying score, and I highly recommend both. Is it cool that a white actor plays a Mexican bandit? No, it is not. It is very much not. Otherwise, however, it’s a very good movie.
